2. Brown and bloom et al. are endearing when they're not something you're subjected to every other game. The current industry trend is "cinematic" color grading and colors associated with extremely stylized color grading. Think "The Matrix" (green) or "John Wick" (teal, cyan, magenta). Coincidentally, green is easy on the eyes, which is good for a medium where you're staring at a screen for potentially 2 or more hours at a time. Even FromSoft adds a subtle green filter to their games. Contrast is also out the fricking window for whatever reason.

This vision, while might include things like "let's slap piss filter for cinematic purposes", still includes this filter - and everything in project is mostly created around this vision - which means, that without filter it would look wrong, as none of works for the proper final result without filter are carried and filter, despite being a cheap decision, is still an integral part of the original. All of this is especially true for japanese directors - even those, who go with "cheap shit", make this cheap shit to be an integral part of the project.
Idiots, who make remakes, don't understand that. They randomly slap new effects, remove old ones, replace textures and models for "modern hd upscaled 4k" ones etc, completely ignoring original vision (and, most likely, either being unable to percept it, burning with envy and wish to outdo it being unable to do so or just not caring because "let's quickly make this shit and grab money").
In rare cases, when remake's director is actually talented or a one in a million chance had happened, even remake can be good and even faithful. Or at least good. But modern developers are actively preventing it from happening, so no chances.

I'm for mood setting or otherwise tone setting lighting. If the scene requires harsher shadows then would be realistically possible, do it. If everything is supposed to go completely red to highlight the rage of the character, do it.
If games are art, then they should be allowed to change reality for the needs of the scene, story, or even gameplay.

The current industry trend is "cinematic" color grading and colors associated with extremely stylized color grading. Think "The Matrix" (green) or "John Wick" (teal, cyan, magenta). Coincidentally, green is easy on the eyes, which is good for a medium where you're staring at a screen for potentially 2 or more hours at a time. Even FromSoft adds a subtle green filter to their games. Contrast is also out the fricking window for whatever reason.
See Starfield or Soulframe for really awful examples of this.

Each project, that involves direction and art direction, however bad and shitty its components and overall decisions are, have them for a reason called "director's vision". This vision, while might include things like "let's slap piss filter for cinematic purposes", still includes this filter - and everything in project is mostly created around this vision - which means, that without filter it would look wrong, as none of works for the proper final result without filter are carried and filter, despite being a cheap decision, is still an integral part of the original. All of this is especially true for japanese directors - even those, who go with "cheap shit", make this cheap shit to be an integral part of the project.
Idiots, who make remakes, don't understand that. They randomly slap new effects, remove old ones, replace textures and models for "modern hd upscaled 4k" ones etc, completely ignoring original vision (and, most likely, either being unable to percept it, burning with envy and wish to outdo it being unable to do so or just not caring because "let's quickly make this shit and grab money").
In rare cases, when remake's director is actually talented or a one in a million chance had happened, even remake can be good and even faithful. Or at least good. But modern developers are actively preventing it from happening, so no chances.
