"Piss filter" was always a buzzword pedalled by simpletons. Devs being terrified of proper colour grading is why every game looks identical these days.
Too bad the ones that had the so called piss filter didn't have proper colour grading. They were on the level of low budget movies that add a dark blue tint to fake night scenes
Bond movie (or the new game but I think that one is meant to be set a bit in the past) with a scene where bond chases the villain though an anime convention when
Israeli here. I hate the right image. It's a perversion of my flag, and I'm not saying that just because gays are perverted. The Israeli flag has very specific and symbolic colors. There's a law stating what the flag should look like, and what he's holding should be illegal. For him to hold a nonstandard flag while wearing our military's uniform? I want him prosecuted.
You should probably do something about your government first, who may or may not have let the attacks happen to distract from the de-democratization happening.
American here. You don't even know the half of it. I drive around every day looking at dozens of unofficial variations of our flag. There's rainbow US flags for gays, black and white flags with the blue line for the bootlickers (now complete with a full spectrum of shit like red for firefighters and whatnot), people flying the flag upside down because the US is "in distress" and who fricking knows why they think that, and plenty of other shit from our old historical flags, like the Gadsden flag or the Texan revolutionary flag so you can let people know how edgey you are.
Caring about a flag is only gonna get you upset because people love to screw with them.

Then stop making gay American flags, because we have rules too. Every country has rules. have a nice day israelite
Welcome to everywhere man. Canadian flags with pot leaves instead of maple leaves, American flags with rainbow stripes, the list goes on. It's a sad state of affairs. You ain't lived until you've seen the rainbow flag flying higher than the national flag on a fricking military establishment.

lol at the hilarious propaganda that's coming out of israel. being gay is not fricking acceptable in israel, they're racist, homophobic arab-tier assbackwards fricks
There's a gap between the artist's vision and what comes through in the game. I could have a vision, but what I'd draw on a piece of paper would be quite far from it. Just look at concept art books. Designs get scrapped or changed by higher-ups. Those that get accepted go through the low pass filter of the development tools and computer hardware limitations.
Mods can increase the LPF's cutoff frequency, and they can introduce more artists to contribute their visions. And if the games become better as a result (even subjectively), that's good.
At the same time, anons would consider a game that is significantly changed by the development process and hardware limitations to be specifically what causes games to be "soulful" through adversity. Don't know why you'd exclude games with mods from that or assume that the outside influence of modders somehow brings it closer to the original intent with no metric to prove that.
So old that we're now seeing game artists putting in rainbow flags and the modders removing them and getting hounded for it rather than the other way around
fan-favourite mods becoming official features
the company tampering with the artist's vision before release
the artists themselves creating mods
new artist changing art direction on existing franchise and the mods change the style back
And these are just legit cases we've come accross during the years. I'm not even touching ownership debate and product vs art arguments
this is why mods are for cowards. its like fanfiction. the only mods worth tolerating and discussing are QoL UI mods. things that give the player information that they ought to have, like actual damage numbers instead of vague bars, or keeping track of things on screen instead of needing to mentally juggle or write things down. anything content related is just fanfiction tier garbage. "but it gives you more/new/different content to experience!" and fanfiction gives you more/new/different "content" to read. take your gay fanfiction and shove it. visual reskins are for clowns and coomers, and thats a separate category of stupid.
QoL UI mods are also bad under this framework though. As they could be messing with the game balance in ways that the game wasn't balanced for, creating an entirely new experience alien to the original. Having to mentally juggle things could very well be part of the intended design, as a form of game knowledge and reaction check.
ehh, it depends. i completely understand what you mean, and i agree. im just saying for trivial stuff. take for example payday 2. in stealth, you can answer 4 pagers from guards you kill. having a little tracker to remind you how many you're at is completely fair and within bounds, especially when a stealth heist can take 20-40 minutes, and you cant remember how many guards you killed 15+ minutes ago and whether you can safely kill the one in front of you now. openly telling you how many enemies/guards are alive on the map? thats unfair and too much. telling you how many loot bags exist on the map? too much. sure, its helpful so you can know whether or not you've gotten them all, but your SUPPOSED to search around. i also refer to my earlier example of things where weapons just have bars for damage, stability, reload speed, etc. a ui that gives numerical values so you're SURE one is greater/lesser than another is reasonable. its good to know numerical values. "you're not supposed to be able to understand the game or optimize your loadout" is a dogshit perspective.
Not necessarily. Even just a checklist ingame is a huge boon. >4 pagers
Is that really fair to have that knowledge for free? Remembering the actions you've taken amidst chaos is a skill even if a simple one, and knowing for certain whether and action is safe or not absolutely does change your actions in the moment. Even that simple UI thing can cause a huge change in the player's approach to the game.
I'll try to think up an example that makes sense, but no promises. In Slay the Spire there's a mod that adds up how much damage the enemy side will deal to you when you end your turn and therefore how much Block you need to gain to prevent HP loss. Normally the total damage is not shown, only the individual damage each enemy will deal. In unmodded gameplay you have to make snap decisions on which cards you will play and whether or not you will forgot damage to block. Factoring in total damage numbers, status effects, the current HP of the enemy, future turns, etc.
With that one simple mod that only really does basic addition enabled, the chances of you making a mistake in your judgement drastically drops to basically zero. You just know for free that you're safe to use the utility or attacks cards. That, to me at least, is a notable change to the approach of the game. I don't really see an issue with mods that just change "Major Fire Damage" to "+25% Fire Damage" however. I don't really care if you want to use any mods though, the only time I'd ever condemn mods is when they're used to cheat in online games like brightening the maps in something like Dead By Daylight.
QoL UI mods are also bad under this framework though. As they could be messing with the game balance in ways that the game wasn't balanced for, creating an entirely new experience alien to the original. Having to mentally juggle things could very well be part of the intended design, as a form of game knowledge and reaction check.

I don't like anime girl mods, but I also don't care about an artist's intended vision. There are lots of great mods for great games, and lots of good fan edits of films for a non video games example
Swap the pictures, because you NEED to mod games to get the origin artists vision now. Yes, you mod it to unlock the removed and cenosored vanilla experience.
It's better to have shitty mods with anime girls than ending up like the unbelievable cesspool that the Starsector modding comunity became in the last few years.
>modding community develops on the game's forums instead of nexus or other third party sites >cult of personality around modders and their discord cliques start forming >modders create drama with each other >now every major mod has code that makes your game crash if you're using mods the modder doesn't like, in some cases even wiping your save file >worst of all was a modder who added full unauthorized telemetry to his mod and the game's dev had to force him to remove it
Bunch of insane troons
Starsector is a very shallow bland wiki-reading game, mods used to be its israeliteel but now you can't run most good mods together because of the code that makes the game crash. Pure pettiness.
It's true. It's been in development for almost a decade and it has at best 1 year worth of actual full time developing in it, you've seen everything the game has to offer after 8 hours.
Bethesda Games are garbage and their vision deserves to be coated in anime breasts and garbage ENBs. Other games don't get that same kind of treatment as far as modding goes.
More options are objectively better for the player/end user. This is not a matter of debate or conjecture.
The only ones vehemently disagreeing with mods are autistic morons or company employees (it hurts their bottom line).
What makes an artist's intentions more valid than the intentions of a modder? Why do we as a society treat "artists" like glorious golden gods whose works are perfect and are beyond criticism? If you mod a game it's bad because you compromise an artist's vision. If you play games or watch films out of order it's bad because the artist wanted you to view it a certain way. If you ignore underlying themes to focus on surface level enjoyment you are somehow betraying the artist who really wanted you to see their gory action horror movie as a critique on capitalism or something. And of course if you make the ultimate sin of generating "art" without the artist through the use of AI then you literally deserve to be doxed and your family killed.
>If you ignore underlying themes to focus on surface level enjoyment you are somehow betraying the artist who really wanted you to see their gory action horror movie as a critique on capitalism or something
I will paypal you $20 if you tell us what film you're talking about.
it gives two choices I like so it's good
why do pc users hate filters? every mod I see that removes it looks like trash
>no, you don't understand! we console games WANT it to look like the world is submerged in piss!
Mid-2000s colorgrading is sovl.
Piss filter is long gone. Now it is the "I am short sighted with cateracts and have smeared vasoline on my eyes for some reason" age

Video games aren't art.
Art doesn't exist
everything is art, which makes it meaningless
everything being art is what gives it meaning
Good art died with dahli everything else is garbage and has no meaning anymore and especially and I can't stress this enough movies and filmmaking
Good art started with Dall-E
Video games are the highest form of art.

What is the point of this image? Mod literally means modification, the whole point is that it changes the game.
moeshit trannies are a vocal minority of the modding community that everybody hates much like they are here on this """"""anime website""""""

Ah yes, GRRM, the man whose artistic vision includes very graphic sex scenes in every book of his series.
