it's not really "impressive AI". the pathfinding constantly breaks and even the most basic sentences are misinterpreted. the script however is very detailed and contains a lot of different possibilities.
It's not that impressive when you go back to replay it. A lot of the responses are generic, broad statements designed to fit with a large amount of inputted dialogue. That's why they constantly nervously laugh because it's a versatile response to whatever insane shit the player is going to inevitably say. But it pretty innovative at the time and an cool tech demo

It's not that impressive, but the presentation of it all as sort of an interactive play or something is interesting and its surprising that nobody has ever tried to replicate it. It seems like something that would be especially appealing to the "video games as art" crowd, but developing a complex AI system and interactive environment is probably too much work.
Why didn't another game like Facade ever get made? The fact that the game still holds relevance today shows that there's an audience for this type of content, even if it is mostly a meme.
The game is a tech demo, and it's not feasible to implement its systems into a full game. It's not impressive AI, it's just a huge amount of recorded dialogue, where the devs had to think of hundreds of inputs from the player. Now something like AI Dungeon is impressive.

>Facade
>Still the most impressive
it's barely a game, it's a movie that plays out randomly and you can slightly influence the direction.
At the time it was made the tech wasn't there for a repair a marriage simulator.
You fail to realize that online gaming is a scam, it supports like 20 actual people at a time. The rest are just AI’s with racial slur voicelines.
