You since you posted this
>It's an alt-history game
Almost every single historical figure lived the same way they did IRL, Leonardo was an inventor, Charles Dickens was a Writer, Richard the Lionheart was a king. They don’t altar shit so ridiculously that you have Mecha-Napoleon fighting the Were-Prussians at Waterloo.
>inb4 The Tyranny of King Washington
That was a vision induced by the apple that never actually happened.
I posted who cares.
I did not post the post you're quoting.
You still have not made me care that there is a black character in a bad game series.
>no bro I don’t care, let me tell you how much I don’t care, see this is me continuing to reply and engage not caring
The cognitive dissonance is incredible.
It's not so much about the game it's that they are trying to say this specific part is real.
>Were-Prussians
Half man half Prussian.
Yeah, but Leonardo making functional tanks and flying machines is just as ridiculous as this Black person samurai. Although, the diffwrence in intentions are obvious, a fun "what if" scenario vs "this black guy was totally a samurai, don't look into it"
>Yeah, but Leonardo making functional tanks and flying machines is just as ridiculous
1. He was an inventor, and all of those were based off of his actual designs
2. The flying machine didn’t work properly and needed to be kept aloft by braziers that were scattered around
3. The rest were destroyed by Ezio so any record of them being used or created would have been nonexistent
This shit has an explanation, it doesn’t go against the grain or claim anything that wasn’t already there. Where as Yasuke wasn’t a samurai and wasn’t in the country long enough to be anything more that a literal footnote in history.
>Mecha-Napoleon fighting the Were-Prussians at Waterloo
Where's this game? I want to play this game.
It’s in the same place as Mecha-Napoleon 3: Full Otto Von Bismarck.

*I can't sit
Turns out this is actually historically accurate. OP didn't just make it up.
So not only wasn’t he a samurai but he was Nobunaga’s personal buck?
Maybe! We'll never know for sure unless some as-yet-undiscovered documentation shows up to illuminate things.
You say that as if you know something that the public doesn’t.
We know Yasuke had a tight boipucci from all the clenching
Unlikely. Nobunaga not only was married to Nohime, but also had Kitsuno as his personal concubine and is said to have been madly in love with her.
But he did seem to hire a lot of big dudes who were good at wrestling.
Can you not just let the /misc/tards have their weird gay interracial sex fantasy?!
Why are you using gay as an insult?
because even leftypol instinctively knows that being a homosexual is a bad thing
Where was the insult?
Now you're gonna play dumb? You're trying to put the chuds down for having gay fantasies.
The only boypussy that Nobunaga fricked was Mori Ranmaru's tight little fartbox.
That was the rumor at the time. Nobunaga specified a position for Yasuke that would have put them in close physical proximity.
A gay scene would be far more historical than anything else shown in the trailer so far.
She's possibly the worlds english speaking expert in yaoi. She's published books and peer reviewed academic papers on the topic.. You know the dude who played the shakuhachi for the Ghost of Tsukushima thing at the sony event that some idiots lost their shit about? She's like that except with boy penises.
While it's true that Samurai often lusted for boypussy, that doesn't mean Nobunaga indulged in that behavior, especially with him.
Yasuke wasn't Japanese. He was a random adventurer who wound up in Japan. That said, a lot of societies, especially historical ones, have completely different views on sex from our own.
Oda "Jedediah" Nobunaga wasn't about to let no Southern boys show him how to break a buck right and proper
KEK, eerily similar to M2TW in mechanics or Shogun 2.

Doesn't the "historian" that Ubisoft hired specialize in historical samurai yaoi or something?
It keeps getting better
moronic Satania poster.
>Doesn't the "historian" that Ubisoft hired specialize in historical samurai yaoi or something?
I beg your pardon?
read the 4th and 5th line in OP's post
No I mean the historian shit, is that actually true? How the frick would you even specialize in something like that?
I mean samurai yaoi was a thing, and SOMEONE has to be the best in the world at it. There really isn't anyone better than her in English, and I'm not confident I could find a better one in Japanese.
I mean that Ranmau guy isn't just a meme. There's serious literature about him and Nobunaga.
That sounds way better than what we're going to get.
That logic is sound but the sheer concept of it causes a part of me to doubt it due to sheer disbelief. She’s like the giga-fujo and the very idea of that disturbs me to my very core
I mean, it's not that different than going to the market and discovering Giga Chad is buying sausages and eggs.
She's a legit scholar who can actually read shit in the japanese equivalent of shakespeare. She's not a japanese native, which explains some of the easy misses the trailers had about the weather and culture but I suspect any historical problems aren't her fault. She's published some academic shit in Japanese.
She just happens to specialize in yaoi, and is a potential contender for biggest coomer ever in that field.
I'd hate to see what happens if she ever REALLY cut loose.
>The new lady-in-waiting is a chigo: Sexual fluidity and dual transvestism in a medieval Buddhist acolyte tale
Japan has loads of weird geneder shit, which makes trannies completely lose it when they see something like Viv or Bridget or Astolofo or whatever the frick his name is.
Come to think of it, this also means she LITERALLY has a justifcation to have underage yaoi shit, and qualifies for a TAX BREAK when she buys BL books.
>She just happens to specialize in yaoi
You seem to be missing that that’s the issue. That’s like having a genius writer that can write masterpieces but specializes in slash fics. Or a brilliant artist that can make master work paintings and he specializes in Sonic OCs. The sheer absurdity that someone in such a prestigious fields and position would specialize in something that is usually the domain of smelly teenage girls is both off putting and hilarious.
>Japan has loads of weird geneder shit, which makes trannies completely lose it when they see something like Viv or Bridget or Astolofo or whatever the frick his name is.
Thats why its so annoying that stupid piggu gaijin trannies glom onto these characters. They aren't "trans", they are a fully sexual object, or a joke. Their existence is not a sign of acceptance, its a sign that domming a feminine male is a fetish that exists or that crossdressing is funny. The mere suggestion that a manjaw troony from the west is equivalent to these fictional characters would confuse or disgust the average jap.
>"historian" that Ubisoft hired specialize in historical samurai yaoi

she's low-key trying to promote interracial BL
>Doesn't the "historian" that Ubisoft hired specialize in historical samurai yaoi or something?
Sort of. She is very much a legitimate historian. She's Japanese, but lives in the US and married a white dude, thus her last name. She's been a professor in both Japanese language and history and won lots of teaching awards. There are probably hundreds of weebs that actually have met and liked this woman as their teacher. While she is highly educated in general Japanese history and language, she is most well known for her published works specifically on analyzing the role of male-male sexual relationships in feudal Japan. She has several books written on breaking down the written accounts of gay stuff from that time period. It's not that she invented it or really has an agenda either; her books are basically her saying, "Hey, look at all this gay shit lmao."
If anything, her main points in the books seem to be along the lines of saying, "Japan is the way it is now partly because it has a history of openly gay stuff, which is very different from Europe during the same time period."
Aku Soku Zesty
>Assasin's Creed: Black gay
lmao
Underrated
did every old warrior culture do gay stuff on the side or something?
Pretty much.
Its actually kind of weird, considering they all simultaneously still looked down at the frickee.
Might have something to do with most of those cultures keeping their women for marriage. So you didn't have anything to frick but bussy or prostitutes (expensive), or rape if you happen to get lucky and go to war, before you got a wife. Might be a status thing too, considering you had to be relatively wealthy to have a page/retainer/boywife. Japan especially is weird because their classiest prostitutes didn't necessarily frick. I'm no anthropologist of course, so what do I know
gay/straight is a very modern idea. ancient cultures were all about dominant/submissive. nothing wrong with a dude fricking another dude, but getting fricked was shameful. it's not quite that simple, but that's the gist of it.
>kinaidos
>meaning effeminate male or a man who likes being penetrated.
no they knew what gay was and they probably didn't have a name for straight because it was literally the norm and any gay shit was just not normal in anyway.
i think samurai had superstitions about bringing women or fricking women right before going to battle was bad luck. might have been a loophole to ram man ass instead
>old
Try every warrior culture, period.
No. A lot of it is propaganda written later. Most Greek shit is just everyone calling each other gay, then when a city state fell everyone wrote how that proved they were gay. Rome just called every civilization gay. If they hated you they called you gay pedos that practiced human sacrifice.
That's why so much of history is trying to find corroborating sources.
When Rome renamed Judea after the 5th israeli Revolt they picked the Philistines specifically because Philistines meant gay greeks in Roman culture so they were calling the israelites a bunch of gay greeks.
>hey were calling the israelites a bunch of gay greeks
Romans were so fricking based
Even funnier when you realize that the Arabs that call themselves Palestinians are calling themselves israeli Gay Greeks.
Reminder that they already shitposting and calling each other homosexual
they'll be saying this about Americans in 500 years
based, I'd do the same
>Call everybody gay all the time
>Make a bunch of homosexual looking pottery
>History misconstrued and now remembers you as gay
The Greeks deserved it.
When it was harder to frick a woman without paying for it, you'd have to make do with what you had.
Casual sex was not common back then, and visiting brothels too often was a danger because of disease or social shame. If you couldn't rape some peasant girls on campaign that season, you took what you could get from younger boys around you.
It's because campaign, especially sieges were long - years, sometimes decades long and women were often not brought along so ken needed a really available fricktoy. In cultures where "camp followers" were a thing boy fricking was less common due to pussy-availability.
it's just moder lgbtq re-imaging thepast in the most gay way possible, the way they say c3po is gay and r2d2 a lesbian, but applied to history instead of pop fiction. If you see how little evidence they require to call people gay or secretly gay, you realize it's 99% made up and 1% actual homosexualry.

nice
this is what japan thinks yasuke looks like. basically every media in existence shows him as a tall, physically imposing warrior.
japan loves yasuke. he's a cultural icon to them. many manga and anime have been made in his honor and recognition.
(You)
Spoken like a true weeb
People will seethe at this post, but it's true. Japanese people think Yasuke is "cool" because he is basically a Giga homie meme. Here's a analogy:
Imagine if during the American Revolutionary war, there was some random Japanese guy that came to America, met George Washington, and followed him around for a while. Maybe happened to supposedly be present at one battle. And the only things we knew about him is that he had a sword and fought people at least once. People would bring this guy up way more than he really warranted because of the "cool factor" and he would get documentaries and shit made about him. Kids' textbooks would probably even have a paragraph about him in some kind of "Did you know? Fun fact!" format.
Yasuke is like that for Japanese people. The average person doesn't know history well and would have zero clue who he is, but the people that know about him usually are like,
>Holy shit! Did you know there was this giant black guy that hung out with Nobunaga!? WTF that's so cool!
It isn't because they worship him or black people, but rather he just seems weirdly exotic and out of place for the history he was a part of, so people think he's neat. They have statues and shit of him despite no one really knowing what the hell he really looked like. He inspires a disproportionate amount of art because he's novel.
yeah and native americans worship white people b***h
>Yasuke was never a samurai

I for one am glad Ubisoft is putting a LGBTQIA+ BIPOC character as one of the protagonists of their new game. This is news that should be lauded and appreciated.

Floyd-sama lived a hard life.
>woman writes men as a bunch of gays
I think they do this because they're sex objects and can't even imagine someone who isn't. Same reason they raise their son to be troons.
Afghanistan was right
Here's another thing.
Nobunaga has one confirmed butt buddy, Mori Ranmaru who was 16 years old when they all died. On the night of his assassination, Oda retired to his room and brought along exactly 2 people. Mori and Yasuke. The rest of his top men, guards and family members were in the same house but were still drinking and partying.
When the attack started, Oda asked who was attacking and then sent out Mori to die fighting them and buy time while he has Yasuke stay and cut his head for when he commits sudoku.
Why would he send the 16 year old who wasn't even an actual samurai, to hold them off if Yasuke was the supposed strong african warrior turned samurai? Wouldn't it be better to send him out to take them on and have his beloved 16yo yaoi boy take his life?
And if he wasn't that much of fearsome samurai, what was he doing in Oda's room with the 16 year old when the rest of his guards and men were left outside?
I needed sources, not because I doubt you but because I want to point this out in the future.
Shincho Koki
It was a chronicle/diary by an Oda scribe writing about whatever Nobunaga is currently doing and shilling about how good his master is and ended up being publish as Nobunaga's biography.
The assassination/attack part was written because he and other clan members/noblemen wanted to figure out if Tokugawa, the guy who ended up being shogun because of Oda's death, was collaborating with Akechi, the guy who attacked them, because Tokugawa was suppose to be there but didn't show up. He interviewed a bunch of the people who survived to construct a timeline of events and they confirmed that yeah Oda did left the party and brought Mori and Yasuke to his room.
Wait, if Yasuke couldn't speak Japanese and Nobunaga was killing himself how do we know he was doing the thing where he'd cut his head off if he faultered? I suppose they probably found some way of explaining this to him but I think it's more likely he just handed him a sword and was very worried when Nobunaga just starts getting himself.
>tfw Akechi betrayed Oda because he wasn't invited to the tip-touching party
He probably made up the whole thing about letting Yasuke go free and kept he chained up under a tatami mat as his personal onahole
>Oda is alone with a black man for 5 seconds
>Dies instantly while the black guy run away
Peak storytelling
Tariq Nasheed just discovered new records that show that like their western counterparts, Japanese black owners used animals to break bucks, in this case capybaras and deers.
Is this why black people are represented on the LGBTQ+ flag?

the 1600s weren't the modern era. Yasuke would not have had roids or a good diet to bulk up on. It's unlikely he was terribly physically imposing at all.
Now that's just cope when the Japs themselves reported otherwise
Absolutely 0 information exists on this guy, not even his real name, but assuming him coming Mozambique us true, he'd have no fricking clue how to fight with japanese weapons.
He’d be more of an “I’m the captain now” type, coming straight from Africa
I'm hoping they add a gay scene so bad man. All these cope posters being forced to defend that will be hilarious.
>I'm hoping they add a gay scene
Didnt they literally say he was gay?
From what I recall, they said that there will be a range of different kinds of relationships, or something to that effect, which some people took to mean homosex and ran with it. That the historical advisor is into and has written about boyfricking doesn't help matters.
>granted the honour of holding Nobunaga's sword
>in his anus
No man should have to have a cold meat saber.
>retainer
the people you are trying to teach don't care, they just want to own the chuds
I think that fixating on the samurai part of it is wrongheaded. If he were a side character you interact with, it wouldn't really matter. Even if you don't agree with the take, it wouldn't warrant more than an eye-roll (e.g., like Unity trying to make Theroigne de Mericourt more than a footnote), because it's not really out of line with the minor historical interpretations that Assassin's Creed is full of.
The problem is that he's the playable character, which is completely out of place. Most games gave you protagonists who were authentic for the location (Revelations aside), in addition to being fictional characters who you could understand not being noted in the historical record (Edward aside). Yasuke is clearly them ignoring the rules they set for themselves for transparently political reasons, which doesn't sit well with people even if they can't or won't articulate it that way.
They stopped all that shit because it's not Ac1 or 2 teams anymore, who set rules up to follow!

Please. Please. Please let this happen.
The raw amount of hilarity that would come out of it is entirely worth it. Ubisoft is burning to the ground either way, but they have the opportunity to go down in history as the funniest video game flop ever made.
So a janny?
I'm gonna "retain" my money by not buying games made by neurotic israelites and self-loathing white liberals with inferiority complex lmao

just provide your sources atleast wikipedia does. idgaf you spent a million and are an anti social alcoholic
you obviously failed your classes if you dont know sources
stop. wikipedia used to be cool, now there are literally government funded groups, along with autistic social warrior groups (both sides) editing that shit like a full time job. Yeah it has "sources" but half the time, if you actually read the source, it doesn't back up the claim at all. People just see that it has a source and assume it's good, but it usually isn't except on things that have zero relation with any sort of political or social issue. You will also see that all of the "sources" use each other as their sources so it's just a big circle of nothing but it looks legitimate to a brief glance
His sword fighting style is the Bakuburo-ken

This is like scientists in the 3000s saying everyone in 2024 fricked animals because they discovered some furry art
Someone should replace this cope with as bunch of similar looking yaoi pictures in place and replace gayreek with Japan
Those pictures would be a good reference material. Maybe I'll do it later as a joke for the next time I see that gayreek post on Ganker.
The commentary is satire of /misc/brained deboonkers, you semi-illiterate baboons. I can't even post the high def because the moron posted it all pixelated and this piece of shit site recognises it as a duplicate.
Spoiler alert, ancient Greek society is not a monolith both in terms of individuals and across its stages in time and social classes within it. That said, pederasty was indeed a consolidated social custom weaved into their society, be it embraced and lauded or opposed. You just need to read Plato's Symposium for Christ's sake, it's one of the foundational works of Western philosophy and like half of it is devoted to literally discussing man-twink love, not that I would expect the average user of this site (a basement-dweller from Utah) to have, mind you.
>read Plato's Symposium for Christ's sake, it's one of the foundational works of Western philosophy and like half of it is devoted to literally discussing man-twink love
I have read that. The problem with it is that it's directed to the sophists, the elites of Athens. It's not even actually about homosexuality, it's about them fricking young boys. The rich and powerful love diddling kids, that's how it is in every society. That was the case back then and it still is. The average citizens and soldiers weren't fricking each other and fricking other men wasn't accepted.
But what if you got it backwards? Average Russian soldiers frick each other now and it's accepted, therefore average soldiers must have fricked each other back then, and it was accepted.

Yawn.
I mean, the whole thread is a poltard trying his best to prove a historic figure we don't know that much about DEFINITELY was gay. You can't go any more woke that that really.
Shit point. I don't think I'm arguing on behalf of Japanese or something. I don't like history revisionism, and I really don't like it when my culture disrespects a different nation's culture.

You just know what will happen. You just know that in their endless wisdom Ubisoft will just straight up say Nobunaga, one of Japan's great leaders, was actually going to town on Yasuke's fat Black person cheeks and will expect everyone to clap for this stunning and brave videogame representation moment. I just can't wait.

Now I'm even more mad.
He was a black king that even Nobunaga feared. There is no wonder he became a samurai.
what tf is the dragonborn doing in japan?
Ganker will never not seethe about seeing a black person in video games.
And you will never not seethe about that.
And you will never not seethe about that, in turn
I want to stop coming to Ganker but I keep coming here.
but Ganker loves GTA: SA
>Ganker has a token black friend from childhood who is "one of the good ones" and doesn't get too uppity
because in GTA, they are accurately portrayed as violent criminals.
Because when San Andreas came out there weren't grifters on Twitter telling weak-minded homosexuals that they should be angry about black people. If that shit came out today you would have morons crying about woke and "Black person fatigue" just like they did when the GTA 6 trailer dared to have black people in Miami.
Or it's because it was a Black person playing a Black person instead of social engineering.
They make whites mafia or psycho criminals if they made San andreas and used malibus most wanted wigger it would be he same concept in reverse
So now explain why homosexuals were crying about the appearance of blacks in fricking Miami of all places. Or is that social engineering?
Here is the next test if your a honest person
We're they complaining that blacks wee there or that it was so many of them?
They were literally the majority of the npc in the trailer no hyperbole
You're racist either way so it's kinda moot

Except the discussion was about the reaction in context to said users who are racist and some who aren't and I logically explained why your assertions of what would happen today is sa came out is wrong
Funny enough I am old enough that i was here when it did and was racist then.
Being racist does not change if I'm right or wrong that is just the infantile like programing your ethics left you with in the cult your apart of complete with kneeling and prostration yourself to idols and literally taking injections with no legal liability because they told you it had to be that way
>Being racist does not change if I'm right or wrong
Racism is wrong. Your quibbling about it is what does not change that fact.
It's not wrong at all infacf everyone besides white liberals have a in group bias
This is why you guys are different then everyone and weird and to deny this implies everyone else is wrong and apart of your narcissistic complex watch
what does that word even mean
call the guy hateful or insensitive, this flowery academic nonsense is useful only as a cudgel which you're too limp to properly swing
I'm black and I actually agree.
They showed 20 black women twerking and then a whole flock of homies walking around. The game is going to feature BLM b***hes twerking during a riot burning down cities and this is a good thing.
Racism is good. I hate white people.

Well that is still a more likely story than what we have here. And im.pretty sure it was the black Black person cop
Damn, you're right. Tenpenny was black. It's some mook who was white.
>Pretty sure the main bad guy in San Andreas was an evil white corrupt cop.
That would be Big Smoke since he was a filthy traitor.
the main bad guy was the US government and drugs.

what do you believe the word hood means?

lol
Nah, Big Smoke was bad BECAUSE he worked with Tenpenny. Tenpenny was black though, it's my mistake.
nobody gets mad about seeing women or black people in video games when they're actually good characters, and not a blatantly political insert, somehow always more stereotypical than an openly racist portrayal

My antisemitism grows every time I see a black
I filter ever single image of a nog I see. If there was an AI that removed them completely from the interent so I'd never have to see them again, I'd use it in a heartbeat.
that's actually not that hard to implement as a browser plugin, it'd just be slower because it'd need to parse the image through an ML model before showing it to you.
No browser would support it tho.
You're mentally ill.
to be fair, this shit it's hilarious, from the idea of a black dude going to japan, killing random people on rap tones in the name of anti racism, to make him gay and fall into the buckbreaking again.
I really hope that it will flop so much that ubi had to close, a company killed by a Black person weaboo homosexual.
Yes
OP is the reason why people are asking for white Black folk to shut up about everything. Nobody cares about your view on things. Why you think your opinion is important is a mystery to everyone but you. You think your opinion matters and is important because of who you are when everyone else just wants you to shut up.
Get that thong out yo bussy

I never noticed it at first, but blacks are incredibly gay and all the rappers coming out as homosexuals lately only makes me more sure
Das right
But how come there's no actual real true information about him from the time period when other foreigners all have recorded history?
Everything about Yasuke is just made up came to me in a dream type shit.
That's because it was just a japanese guy that Nobunaga painted black
As a joke
Probably because Akechi had it destroyed because the Japanese were xenophobic as frick and didn't want it known that their top warlord was running around with a foreigner.

Nah that shits whack too. Stop forcing that shit.
you must be too young to remember the RE5 release
not at all
nothing major happened besides a few clickbait articles
>Resident Evil 5 is not considered racist
>Capcom literally added white enemies late in the game development because how big the controversy around the game was back then.
Fricking zoomers.
So, people played the game, found it racist, it was a giant scandal - and that's why Capcom added white enemies late in the game which those outraged people had played? I'm afraid don't follow.
The game was deemed racist the very moment it was announced because you played a white dude killing black zombies in Africa. It got so bad that, after a while, Capcom decided to add white zombies as enemies too, a few months before the release of the game.
The game launched. Everyone bought it and hated it and then moved on.
Anyone has that pic of the traditional japanese artstyle where some jap soldier is raping a white soldier in the ass? I think it was a russian soldier after they beat their navy.

I know you're trying to pull some shit, but Unity was actually pretty good if you played it after it was patched. I finished it to 100% back in 2018 and was surprised how great the combat and parkour was if you kept unlocking abilities. Every time somebody tells me they LOVED Odyssey and Valhalla but say Unity was bad-
>"Did you play Unity?"
>"Well n-no..."
>"Then how do you know it's bad?"
>"Because of the b-b-bugs!!"
>"But you never played it, so you have no experience playing that game with or without any of the bugs or glitches"
>"NO ODYSSEY AND VALHALLA ARE THE BEST AC GAMES AND I ALREADY PRE-ORDERED AC SHADOWS"
I wanna kick those people in the balls. Fricking play Unity when it's on sale, you little shit.
i am
and i was saying unity was good... but it was still buggy piece of shit when i played it few weeks ago. i never had so many soft locks or bugs in an AC game before and i played all of them besides syndicate which im playing now. almost without fail you will get softlocked when jumping up a building and you get shot, sometimes you get softlocked when you try to just climb down a rope or go up a rope. i even limited the game to 60fps to make sure its not behaving weird like some of the ezio games with uncapped fps, but its just super buggy.
>Fricking play Unity when it's on sale

Holy based Yasuke.
As Japanese person I don't understand all the chud backlash. The Japanese know about the existence of Yasuke and we are always happy seeing black men in Japan streets. We are always welcoming to every race who make love our culture and thankful for the overseas developer making nuanced Japanese history available for broader audience.
ニガーは皆殺し、ユダヤ人はガスで殺せ!
Blacks made your culture you are a colonizers and oppressor.
Black people are so moronic that they all call you Chinese and anime Chinese cartoons. China is greater than your shitty island will ever be. Island insect.

Nice bait for the chimps.
Now quit the yellow face and rope, garrett.
STFU, the west is fricking sick of Black folk.
>Gankerpol will ignore the fact that he had the same benefits as a Samurai, and all this shit means is that he was just granted the title instead of having it hereditarily
He never weilded a samurai sword which is a exclusive right legally at the time of a samurai
The "mandatory two swords" thing was implemented by Tokugawa. I can trust you to know who Tokugawa is and when he ruled, right?
Yeah I have his book and a sweet action figure of him
>Society was divided into four classes (farmers, craftsmen, traders and samurai), with the samurai class as highest in the hierarchy and thereby the ruling class. As a male member of this class, you were forced to carry two swords, and only samurai were allowed to carry long swords
A long sword again is what he retained and never was allowed to use in battle..guess why
I'm sorry, but the law that forced samurai to carry two swords at all time while simultaneously forbidding others from doing so was implemented by Tokugawa. It's such common knowledge that no amount of greentexting can save you. Just admit that you went a little too far with bullshitting people, it's okay.
What I never brought up two swords gaygof you did
Wielding a samurai sword was legally only allowed by samurai before him and after him.
You do understand this correct.
There was (and couldn't be - the country wasn't even a country anymore, it was in state of dire civil war for decades and decades) no law during Nobunaga's time about that. You're wrong, you, probably at this point, know that you're wrong and you still want to bullshit people for one reason or another. Shame on you.
See
You are in over your head.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_hunt
They literally implemented the rule about samurai only wielding swords before he was alive
I don't know what to say. Have you tried reading your link? How can you even mix Toyotomi's time and Nobunaga's time? One fricking goes right after the other.
Well that's just embarrassing.
Are you moronic he was born Oct 28, 1837
Got it.
Good
I ment 1603
Seriously, is it really news for you that Toyotomi was a man who united Japan? That Nobunaga was dead by that time? What the frick man, you're pulling my leg.
. He conquered most of Honshu by 1580, and defeated the Ikkō-ikki rebels in the 1580s.
He was literally under said rule while alive and had that Black person next to him.
Cont
Most men wore swords from the Heian period until the Sengoku period in Japan. Oda Nobunaga sought an end to this practice, and ordered the seizure of swords and a variety of other weapons from civilians, in particular the Ikkō-ikki peasant-monk leagues which sought to overthrow samurai rule.
Oda instituted during that Black folk stay in japan.
Yasuke wasn't a civilian. Nobunaga wasn't a legitimate ruler at any point of his life. There's no way to justify your claim about wielding a samurai sword being "exclusive right legally". Because it just wasn't a thing. Yet.
might makes right
always has been
It literally was since he ruled over his own territory and that Black person existed in it and he raided anyone who was not a samurai in said territory
You are using circular logic
Yeah he was not a civilian neither was a Nobel and they still were not allowed now repeat yourself again homosexual.
Civilian? He was Oda's page, but there's no evidence he ever faught anyone. He was definitely not a samurai. There's no reason to believe any attempt was made by Oda to make him part of that noble class, and no, being given a house and short sword isn't evidence he was. Anyone could have a house and short sword.
he was a samurai, but not a samurai clan warrior which is what most think when they think samurai
How was he a samurai? He was never called a samurai by anyone.
its a class of bourgeoisie, he absolutely had social status above 99% of the country
What? There were basically for social classes in Japan at the time.
Samurai
Merchant
Priest
Commoner
Yasuke was a commoner. A page (Yasuke s job) could be a person from any class. Being a page doesn't make you a samurai.
yasuke was social elite, he was literally the daimyo's sex partner
That doesn't make him a samurai. A samurai could be a ronin. A literally homeless person. You are born a samurai
he was a samurai. idk just try to cope with it.
He was not a samurai. Saying it doesn't make it true. Burden of proof is clearly something you can't bear.
https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/1cu71vk/why_yasuke_was_a_samurai_compilation/
i have an PhD historian backing my stance, you have david irving-tier cope. just try to cope man seriously i am getting 2nd hand embarassment.
Very simple. Samurai is a hereditary class. A person can not be made into a samurai. They are born samurai. I doubt that person has a PhD.
https://www.britannica.com/topic/samurai
it doesnt say that on britannica.
i trust britannica over wikipedia.
That does not say that samurai isn't hereditary, so it in no way helps your case.
More resources for you to learn it is hereditary

i trust britannica. they say it's not hereditary it's not hereditary.
Where does it say it isn't hereditary?
pardon me, "they don't say it's hereditary" should have been my line. either way, i'm not getting myself bent over arguing you on this. until you can give me a source as trustworthy as britannica, or a PhD level paper saying what you are saying i will simply trust britannica more.
So if they don't't say it's not hereditary, how would that be proof it's not hereditary. Appeal to authority is a logical fallicy. PhD doesn't make a person correct.
Yes. Do you have a problem with the sources?
i trust britannica. the more you study history the more you realize source criticality matters.
i trust britannica
But brittanica isn't saying samurai isn't hereditary, so it in no way contends with my sources that say it is hereditary.
false equivalency. your bad articles could be saying the moon landing was fake, and the fact that britannica doesn't say it wasn't fake doesn't make it so.
this is embarassing for me so i am just going to stop egging you on, for both our sakes.
In fact, yours is falsely equivalent. You're arguing that to not say samurai is a hereditary title is the same as saying samurai is not a hereditary title. That actually is false equivalency.
Bruh he literally had a clan. With mon and everything. While being born from an ashigaru. How does it feel to be wrong?
You can not be born an ashigaru. It's a profession. They are levy men. The fact he was an ashigaru is proof he wasn't a samurai.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi wasn't a part of Toyotomi clan?
He was, but it was not a samurai clan. Which is why he was an ashigaru.
How is that an informal balance drawn between objects? It's not false equivalency
I'm simply saying your source does not say that samurai isn't a hereditary title, and so it in no way helps prove that it isn't, while my sources say that it is hereditary, which is my argument.
britannica lists the most poigniant points of the term, the fact it does not state your claims means they are of no consequence or not relevant to the overall picture. if yasuke was not a samurai then it would not state so. if the title was hereditary it would state so.
How does it prove it's of no consequence considering many other sources state it is? Brittanica in no way states that those are the most important parts or only parts of being a samurai. It in no way states that samurai isn't't defined by heredity.
then those sources are of revisionist or less than trustworthy nature.
What sort of clan was it then? An ashigaru clan?
Not samurai, since a samurai is a samurai, and not an ashigaru, who is a levyman.
So it was just "a clan"? Interesting. Let's simplify the task - what other types of clans were in Japan at the time? We have samurai clans and..?
Correct. He was not born a samurai.
You are the ones trying to revise history, which is why you had to be locked out of the Wikipedia article.
So, he wasn't born a samurai, and then he became a samurai. Therefore, being samurai wasn't a strictly inheritable thing at the time. What a shocker.
Who was in Toyotomi clan? It's not a lot of people, you can do this.
He did not become a samurai. You can not become a samurai. It's hereditary. Toyotomi was a clan of commoners.
>a clan of commoners
Damn, that would be an effective finale. But I still must ask.
A clan of commoners with a clan emblem? With the head of the clan being a Kampaku? Maybe can you guide me through that feudal chain of command they had, with a clan of commoners being on top?
He moved up the ranks enough that he could make himself a clan. He was not born a samurai though, and so he was not a samurai. I think you could call his children samurai though.
Did Yasuke make himself a samurai clan with a banner?
Wait-wait-wait, what about that clan of commoners though? What does a clan of commoners do?
He was born into a family of commoners, but made himself a samurai clan. Did Yasuke have a samurai clan? Why won't you answer about Yasuke, the topic of this debate.
See? was it that hard? Or did that fricker run away?
Obviously I don't care about fricking Yasuke, I just like bullying people who are too dumb to lie yet try anyway.
In theory nothing would stop Oda from waking up one day and making Yasuke a samurai. He would have zero motivation to do so though, and we have zero evidence of him ever doing so.
So you conceed that Yasuke was not a samurai? Bully? Lol. You're cute.
So it was all about Yasuke? Riiight. Just to check - do you think samurai was a strictly hereditary title? Or maybe?
He remained in power as Taikō (太閤), the title of retired Kampaku, until his death. It is believed, but not certain, that the reason he refused or could not obtain the title of shogun (征夷大将軍), the leader of the warrior class, was because he was of peasant origin.[3][4]
Looks like Hideyoshi was never actually Shogun because he wasn't a samurai.
>I think you could call his children samurai
I don't think so, considering his only son was killed when he was about 5.
But he died a samurai. Or at least the member of a samurai clan.
so you are saying that the head of all samurai the seii taishogun is not a samurai
So we are back to claiming travel guide articles written by bloggers and whatnot command authority over britannica and articles written and peer reviewed by graduate historians? Well, interesting theories but I am just going to agree to disagree on all points you've made.
Authority? Appeal to authority is your thing. I'm stating there a very many sources, including academic, that correctly state samurai is a hereditary title. You have not posted a single source that claims it is not.
Well I can only see the travel guide articles I mentioned ITT, can you please link them again if I missed them? As for my sources well like I said, I trust Britannica, but here's the national archive link that the reddit thread I linked mostly cites. https://dl.ndl.go.jp/pid/1920322/1/70
As for appeal to authority. Yes, I love this argument. It always comes up when you realize your sources aren't as well cited, aren't as well researched or argued and in general don't stand up to the same standards an actual academic paper has to stand up to.
You can trust brittanica, but brittanica does not say samurai is not a hereditary title. You can look through my sources again.
Well the simple answer is the definition changed over time. And by Oda's time the title was no longer hereditary. Of course I don't have a source for this, but by occam's razor, it's the most applicable one.
Also, you didn't link the sources that claim it was a hereditary title by Oda's time, yet you talk in circles. Are you even aware how sloppy your output must seem to me?
You are incorrect. It was still hereditary and Tokugawa, as well as Toyotomi actually made it more hereditary.
Well, I trust britannica over random Ganker thread.
Samurai is a hereditary title.
He wasn't a samurai. He was a slave.
This is only a debate at all in the anglophone world, who only know samurai and don't understand bushi, kosho, jizamurai. kokujin, 国人 NOT 黒人, and a reminder why KANJI FRICKING MATTERS. .
Japan literally had war on this issue. See also the Gekukujo. You VN reading weeabos ever hear about the "family register" from some serious girl? This is why it exists.
Yasuke was not a samurai, and you can compare him to say, the Koreans who became samurai, and the paperwork and process. But there's nothing wrong with portraying him as one. That said, the trailer with him is a joke, but that's for a different shitposting thread.
Not quite. It is a CASTE, and an indicator of RANK and AUTHORITY.
I would give it a pass if it were awesome.
>You maneuver between hundreds of years of history with a grace of an infant.
If you guys are serious, you're really better off with 日本語 sources than britannica, and you should especially not take upvotes seriously.
A hereditary caste, yes.
Caste, is by it's nature hereditary.
>Pretty sure the common knowledge is that he was declared samurai by Oda himself.
You would be wrong. Compare what he did for Yasuke with what happened with 脇田直賢 -Wakita Naokata or , 三浦按針 the anjin, pay particular attention to the MIRUA part of that name, because it's fricking important.
See the people on this list as well for further understanding,.
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:%E6%B5%B7%E5%A4%96%E5%87%BA%E8%BA%AB%E3%81%AE%E6%AD%A6%E5%A3%AB
Hideyoshi is brought up, but isn't a good example for comparison. His authority as being the dictator of all of fricking japan is a good enough claim.
>Caste, is by it's nature hereditary.
so a musician that becomes a court musician is still in the same caste as the boys playing in front of the market for food money?
NO. Same profession. Not the same caste. You can be a warrior, but a samurai is the emperor's warrior picked to be part of a warrior bloodline. Same with the court musician.
Both cases, same caste as parents. Current job as a musician isn't that important, except when the Tokugawa gets extra regulatory, and the muscians are a front for prostitution.
There's probably a Yakuza like a dragon mission about that.
eeeeehhh.... mozart was given his own villa by the french king or some shit, im pretty sure hes not the same class as the boys down at the pub. he'd be a major noble.
Your opinion is irrelevant. Samurai is a de dacto hereditary social class. You're either born into it, adopted into it, or made part of it by the emperor.
And France isn't Japan. In the Japanese system, hypothetically, Mozart would be adopted as a son by a samurai house.
Notice how every other example of non japanese samurai has a family name? That's what yasuke doesn't have. Read their shit, and their kokeshi entries.
Yasuke might have been adopted eventually, but Nobunaga did not live long enough to assign him to a family.
Here ya go
Kabane, (Japanese: “family name”), hereditary title that denoted the duty and social rank of an individual within the Japanese sociopolitical structure from the late 5th to the late 7th century. Titles, or kabane, included the categories omi, muraji, tomo no miyatsuko, and kuni no miyatsuko.
https://www.britannica.com/topic/kabane
Descendants of the Imperial House of Japan (皇別, kōbetsu) were given Omi and the descendants of the gods (神別, shinbetsu) were given Muraji. Of these, the most influential families were given Ōomi and Ōmuraji.
Later, as the clans began to devolve into individual households, the kabane system gradually faded from use.
All samurai clans were descended from the imperial house of Japan. it was hereditary to its core.
You maneuver between hundreds of years of history with a grace of an infant.
>From the late ancient era onward, the family name (Myōji/苗字 or 名字) had been commonly used by samurai to denote their family line instead of the name of the ancient clan that the family line belongs to (uji-na/氏名 or honsei/本姓), which was used only in the official records in the Imperial court.
But the samurai clans did have those names, so they were all descended from the imperial house, besides Hideyoshi, who was made part of the house by the empire himself, but still not a full samurai, which is why he could not become Shogun
It was hereditary. Even brittanica says so.
>From the late ancient era onward, the family name (Myōji/苗字 or 名字) had been commonly used by samurai to denote their family line instead of the name of the ancient clan that the family line belongs to
>commonly used by samurai to denote their family line instead of the name of the ancient clan that the family line belongs to
>their family line instead of the name of the ancient clan that the family line belongs to
>name of the ancient clan that the family line belongs to
Hereditary descendents of the imperial family.
yeah no
Afraid so, pseud. Frick off back to l*ddit with the rest of the morons so anyone who disagrees with your dumbass can get banned.
Sorry, but there are some sources that don't claim he was a samurai, which means he wasn't a samurai.
That's alright. But why was he a part of a samurai clan then?
He wasn't.
The monkey started a new clan after advancing ranks in Nobu's army
>A samurai could be a ronin
"samu" in samurai is literally a kanji from "haberu", which means "to serve". You know, because samurai was a profession when you served a lord. And a tiny little feature of ronin was that they, believe it or not, served no lord.
You're all over the place.
In feudal Japan (1185–1868), a rōnin (/ˈroʊnJn/ ROH-nin; Japanese: 浪人, IPA: [ɾoːɲiɴ], 'drifter' or 'wandering man', lit.'a person of the waves')[1] was a samurai who had no lord or master and in some cases, had also severed all links with his family or clan. A samurai becomes a rōnin upon the death of his master, or after the loss of his master's favor or legal privilege.[2][3]
Yes, samurai means to serve, but it's a word for someone born in a social cast. Not a word for a servant. I think that's what's confusing you.
Samurai (侍、さむらい) were the hereditary military nobility[1][2][3][4] and officer caste of feudal and early-modern Japan from the late 12th century until their abolition in the late 1870s during the Meiji era. They were the well-paid retainers of the daimyo, the great feudal landholders. They had high prestige and special privileges.[5]
Do you understand what "hereditary" means? It means you are born into being a samurai. You are not made a samurai.
Bet you didn't know that Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the literal successor of Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke's lord, wasn't a samurai by birth. Damn it feels good to dunk on stupid people.
He was't a samurai, not did he become one. He became a daimyo of a very high rank, but only ignorant western sources would call him a samurai. Because they don't't understand. Same as ignorant western sources calling Yasuke a samurai.
I heard you like Wikipedia? Here you go, son:
>Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣 秀吉, 17 March 1537 – 18 September 1598), otherwise known as Kinoshita Tōkichirō (木下 藤吉郎) and Hashiba Hideyoshi (羽柴 秀吉), was a Japanese samurai and daimyō
Oops.
Those sources are western, and incorrect. Same as incorrect western sources calling Yasuke a samurai.
You literally used wikipedia two pasts above. I'm getting second-hand embarrassment now.
>Not a warrior from a samurai clan
So not a samurai, seeing as that's what a samurai is.
he was a high-ranking commoner bushi at most, basically a bouncer who was put there to scare people off
Cont.
>In 1588, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, having become kampaku or "imperial regent", ordered a new sword hunt;[3] Hideyoshi, like Oda, sought to solidify separations in the class structure, denying commoners weapons while allowing them to the nobility, the samurai class. In addition, Toyotomi's sword hunt, like Oda's, was intended to prevent peasant uprisings and to deny weapons to his adversaries
Kek. Tho for accuracy: retainer can be anything. Bodyguard, astronomer, hitman, tailor etc. - it's just someone who serves in a person of import's retinue (and serves him exclusively as opposed to a generic professional whose services are open to public). Admittedly, that can be buttboy too.
This guys life was pretty interesting because he got caught up in 2 raids even if he was just a sword carrier then he killed his next master, it's a shame all anyone does with him is use his name to make random ass modern fanfiction.
Then again there has never been a accurate Dantes Inferno game and if there was Ganker would call it a gay walking sim.
So, a Black person AND a homosexual. Wow, that's some sick combo. Western ""journos"" will be pleased for sure. Expect 10/10 from the likes of IGN, kek.
Can't wait to squash bugs
>Preach about diversity

>LOL no not THAT kind of diversity, we mean Black folk! We need more Black folk!
>Go out of your way to make a Black person the main character in this game set in an alien culture.
Can we please call out the gays at Ubisoft for being pathetic liars who wave the "diversity" flag but don't actually mean it?
It wouldn't even be a big problem if they just made Yasuke an NPC character. They always had fictional main characters up to know so I really don't get why it has to be Yasuke this time.
Black folkuke makes more money, simple as.
they could have made a boke+tsukkomi dynamic duo of 2 iconic, cheery but heartfelt japanese dudes instead of this but it wouldn't have made as much money as Black folkuke will make, you can count on that.

Black person sells, simple as
>Black person sells
you didn't post any sales
It's a normal thing to try and make your protagonist unique and a "fish out of water" type. It just has some political connotations - definitely from the "audience" (if we can call /misc/ frequenters an audience), maybe from Ubisoft themselves.
It will be evident when somebody actually plays the game - if they end up doing absolutely nothing with his strange origin, then Yasuke is in the game simply because of politics.
there is absolutely nothing they can put in the game to obfuscate the fact that yasuke is the mc because of politics and only politics.
>if they end up doing absolutely nothing with his strange origin, then Yasuke is in the game simply because of politics.
syndicate's troony just existed like a big troony elephant in a room, despite gay being a crime+sin punishable by death or mental asylum, and yasuke already perfectly understands japanese language and customs going by the trailer
guess everyone in spain is a samurai since we all serve under the king
if black videogame characters vanished from the planet, what sector of society would suffer?
PSA:
Do not let the controversies distract you from the fact that Bugisoft hasn't released a good game in almost 2 decades, and this fact is not likely to change anytime soon
Lmfao you can't make this shit up, some kangz will be seething
Still not buying it
Black folk have never been and will never be samurai. everything else is cope.
>小姓
REMINDER
THERE IS ZERO DIRECT EVIDENCE HE WAS EVER TITLED THIS. ZERO. SECOND HAND AT BEST AND NONE DIRECTLY REFERRING TO HIM AS 小姓. THANK YOU.
Why does everyone worship Black folk nowadays?
jews can only feel safe in a multicultural society
the Samurai controversy is nothing but a smokescreen to hide the fact the gameplay is pure trash, I'm sure this shitheap will be plagued with pay to skip the grind microtransactions too, you all are getting hustled participating in these threads and keeping this lame ass game in everyone's heads
get a grip, the game isn't changing and is being made by one of the shittiest developers in the AAA industry
>he Samurai controversy is nothing but a smokescreen
You know that nobody forces rightoids to suddenly talk about things they have no knowledge of? Notice how there was nothing to argue about when the first 100 posts were just the same hilarious joke about being gay.
People are coping hard
>NOOOOO THAT UBISOFT HIRED A BOY LOVER EXPERT IS ENTIRELY A COINCIDENCE
>this thread
AssCreed: Harlem when?
The shilling stopped pretty abruptly when they revealed he's gay
Who cares?
The game's gonna suck anyway
If you want the samurai/ninja experience just play Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, Ninja Gaiden or even Metal Gear Rising. Hell, just play Elden Ring with a samurai build and use rivers of blood. Pretty much any game will get you a better samurai experience then Ubisoft.
why not a Lithuanian samurai
I want an Albanian samurai with an accordion.
>white guy shows up in old Japan
>metal music starts playing
>Mexican guy shows up in old Japan
>mariachi music starts playing
>old black guy shows up in old Japan
>jazz music starts playing
>Czech guy shows up in old Japan
>polka music starts playing
all of these would rightfully be mocked as absurd
What's with black men and their obsession with getting banged by men of other races?
They were selected through hundred of years to enjoy buck breaking.
Just never give Ubisoft money.
Don't care, I wanted a black samurai instead of just a corporate race swap back in 2016.
>A role of a person who serves under a noble to perform daily chores
So just like samurai being retainers of the shogun?
No. A samurai was the descendent of the nobles that the empire made military servants in the ancient times. The only way to become a samurai was to be born into one of those military families, be adopted into one of those families, or be declared samurai by the emperor like Hideyoshi was.
Yasuke was just a regular old servant.
家来
Servant, retainer, retinue
武士
samurai, warrior
so ur saying samurai cant be part of a retinue? lul moron
That's not at all what I said. I said that there is a word for retainers who are not samurai. Every samurai is a retainer to the emperor, but they are called 武士 not 家来. There is a difference. Not every servant is a samurai.
in 1585, Hideyoshi was formally given the new clan name Toyotomi (instead of Fujiwara) by the Imperial Court.[10]
Hideyoshi's increasing influence allowed him to seize a significant degree of power from the Oda clan following Oda Nobunaga's death in 1582. As the virtual ruler of most of Japan, Hideyoshi received the new clan name "Toyotomi" in 1585 from the emperor, and achieved the unification of Japan in 1590.[1]
you could at least remove the wikipedia source links so you could pretend you're referring to a trustworthy source
Are you going to argue with the sources or just b***h about it? Because I don't hear any arguments
Bushi means warrior you jackass. By the sengoku jidai anyone could be a bushi. It included ashigaru.
In modern usage, bushi is often used as a synonym for samurai;[9][10][11] however, historical sources make it clear that bushi and samurai were distinct concepts, with the former referring to soldiers or warriors and the latter referring instead to a kind of hereditary nobility.[12][13]
Fricking idiots
What's wrong with you? Just give me an actual reference if you can. I can't fricking click on it here, it's not how it works.
In simple words, slowly: see that "10"? Cope what's under that, and paste it here. Then it will work.
ok so what is the word for a retainer that is also a samurai because according to you you cant be both a kerai and bushi at the same time
a retainer of a retinue in feudal context is different from a servant. so already you are not making a whole lotta sense. and a samurai by Oda's time is a warrior who is paid a stipend by their lord. that means literally every peasant who has a weapon and is being paid a stipend to use it is a samurai.
?t=534 essentially breaks down https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/1cu71vk/why_yasuke_was_a_samurai_compilation/ which in turn breaks down japanese national archives record on yasuke, which is the best source hands down there is on the actual history behind yasuke, so unless you have a better source, which i doubt, yasuke was a samurai.
No, it's not. Samurai, page, smith, maid, can all be retainers. Every samurai is a retainer. Not every retainer is a samurai.
If every retainers is a samurai, and every samurai is a retainer, then why are there two different words for them?
A reddit thread is not a fricking source.
>No, it's not
Yes, it is.
> entry of Yasuke in the Maeda Clan version of the Shinchōkōki. Kaneko Hiraku (professor at the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo, the most prestigious historical research institution in Japan) includes in his book below, paired with the translation in Thomas Lockley's book (which is correct)
so you are going against Thomas Lockley and a japanese PhD level university professor/researcher/author on this subject.
He's wrong or you're misunderstanding him. That word for stipend is used as a word for payment to smiths here.
Holy frick. That reddit thread is already
filled with so much incorrect info.
Again, being paid a stipend for servants can't make you part of a hereditary social class.
Should I trust 2 japanese uni professors or a guy on Ganker who has no sources? I will trust the science.
post the exact sentence from it, im not reading a page worth of hard to read academic japanese to le own a chud on 4chin
I think you're just misunderstanding those professors.
給付金
Kyūfukin
Is still a word used by the Japanese to mean any payment today. Even today subsidy, and the passages you referenced in *reddit don't actually mention a stipend.
若武衛様は川狩より直にゆかたひらのあたてにて信長を御憑み候て那古野へ御出すなはち貳百人扶持被仰付天王坊に置申され候 Lord Buei the Younger fled directly from his fishing spot on the river to Nagoya, dressed only in a bathrobe, to call on Nobunaga’s help. Accordingly, Nobunaga assigned him a stipend sufficient to maintain a retinue of two hundred men and installed him in the Tennōbō temple.
Actual translation
Wakabue-sama possessed Nobunaga directly from Kawakari in Yukatahira no Atate and sent him to Nagono.
It does not mention a stipend at all. You made it up. No reference to supposed PhD source.
扶持 [ふち]
(n,vs) ration; stipend; allowance
its right there, also your text looks like its just machine transcribed badly or something
Yes, but your source also says that this stipend was paid to shipbuilders as well. Not just samurai, so how does that prove he was a samurai?
That word means support. Not just pay to support. Context is important.
LOL. Any actual Japanese dictionary should be sufficient to prove that definition wrong. It's complicated because the definition changes over time, but it's not even clear where they pulled that shit from.
野武士, and 足軽 are obvious dictionary level counterexamples.
Clearly they should take that amazing new research to Japanese wikipedia and make corrections to the yasuke, samurai and bushi articles.
Literally none of that says Yasuke was a samurai.
From your post
The meaning of the word stipend is not supposed to prove Yasuke was a samurai all by itself. What proves Yasuke was a samurai is not he received a samurai stipend, but that he received a samurai stipend and carried Nobunaga's weapons which was the job of a samurai and had and fought with a katana at Nijō and he was mobilized and followed Nobunaga on the Takeda campaign of 1582 and remained by Nobunaga's side even after Nobunaga dismissed all his "ordinary soldiers".
The entire argument is that a page had to be from the samurai class, which is not true, as Yasuke was not born a samurai.
>be declared samurai by the emperor
Pretty sure the common knowledge is that he was declared samurai by Oda himself. The emperor couldn't have any decisions on his own in the first place, Japan was a military dictatorship at that time.
>young boys
>homosexual activities
Why are israelites like this?
Whether or not he actually obtained the title of samurai is not the point.
Even if he did, it was nothing more than a whimsical gesture from the mischievous Nobunaga, and it held no real substance.
In fact, during the one year he served the Oda clan, he neither experienced battle nor contributed in any other work.
>he neither experienced battle nor contributed in any other work
Living the dream.
Yasuke only began serving Nobunaga in the last year before Nobunaga's death.
By that time, Nobunaga had already defeated most of his main enemies and was on the verge of conquering all of Japan.
There were no opportunities for Yasuke to go to the battlefield himself.
His job was always to stay by Nobunaga's side and carry his items.
How could he go to the front lines in such a situation?
>3000 bc
>dick washer
>1500 ad
>dick washer
>2024
>dick sucker
shiiiiiiiiit.
>1500 ad
>dick washer
Wrong.
He was Nobunaga's golf caddy.
Show some respect.
so you're all gonna start studying history regularly after this, right? you're definitely not going to stop caring about it after the hot new ubisoft game is out, that would be moronic
i am trying to get through my 2nd john toland book
Japs were historically very gay
I never played an AC game and will not be playing this one.
DEATH TO UBISOFT, they make shit games.
Why are they trying to make us believe that Japanese people welcome this game?
I can speak Japanese, so I looked up Japanese reactions to this game on the internet.
Most of them are filled with anger towards the Woke movement and the black radicals riding its coattails.
The support from Japanese people that is being introduced to the West SNS is minimal.
If you look at the comments section of such videos, you can see the honest reactions of the majority of Japanese people.
Why aren’t these reactions being introduced to the west?
Because influencing english speaking opinions on the game is the objective. What japan thinks isn't important to them at all, and they will lie constantly to get what they want..
idc i'll never buy a game with a Black person protagonist.
seethe sweaties, seethe.
if by samurai, they mean "the sheath of his meat katana" then sure
Retainer means 6'6" gigahomie ultimate warrior who chops Nip heads off with one hand
just say you hate Black people
i hate black people
I mostly hate black people
Following all these arguments back and forth its becoming really obvious that the people who claim Yasuke was a samurai are deliberately
lying both to win progressive brownie points and to 0wnzone the heckin chuds.
Pretty much.
