Why? He's obviously an over exaggerating autist but the 90s is when publishers and media really got into bed with each other and turned gaming media into a PR arm. To be honest it's a wonder it took so long for the industry to nose dive. It was primed since the early 90s to do so.
Doom was an indie game. Myst was definitely normie bait, though, and exactly the sort of thing pushed by companies for you to play on your multimedia system.

It was an indie game with a high budget, id answered to no one while they were doing the shareware business model, even GT Software just licensed the rights to sell Doom II in retail but they had no say in how id operated or anything. They were cucked a bit by Activision later-on but were still independent until Bethesda bought em out in 2009 or whatever, and then Carmack left and it wasn't the same company at that point.

No it wasn't zoomer tard. Tons of games existed back then where developers made games with little publisher oversight other than distribution. That's not an indie game. Please be a zoomer Black person on Ganker

Maybe you should look up what "independent" means. It isn't the same as solo or without assistance.
Either trolling or really, really stupid. VLSI just means it's got ICs. Pre-VLSI games would be like the original Pong arcade hardware that was entirely made with discrete circuits.
Magazine articles (specifically viewer mail) is also welcome.

This is some pretty good shitposting, we should have more of this instead of bait thread.

Is this the first recorded instance of toddposting?
Yes, and it comes from the man himself of all places.

Remember those?
I can't imagine how posts on here will be seen in the future 20 or 30 years from now. Christ.
We're less cringe than these Gen X dipshits. These people were lame even back then.
>cringe
I wouldn't be too sure of that
Speak for yourself little boy, and remember this board was made for gen x and older.
>haha, look at these bigots from the 2020s laughing at gender sliders, what a bunch of racists
>"beat-up-the-ethnic-minority title"
No one cared about Black folk in the 90s
imagine living in the early 90s and being depressed about the state of the vidya industry
i don't get it
Time is a flat circle.

Because all the best games were still coming out of Japan.

Very large scale was Sony's marketing meme as they had a MIPS CPU, MotionJPEG decompressor, and GPU all neatly integrated into one chip.
Damn, I didn't know that there were even forums in 1989.
