Shitty mobile game slop from the screenshots. Post apocalypse just doesn’t work as a setting for a strategy game.

Shadow Empire is as much post-apo game as any given Civ is a city-builder
looks a bit like mobile game but biggest gripe i have its an indie 4X. Genre requires insane amount of play tasting and game design knowledge, at best it will be another flawed 4X which lacks polish in permanent early access stage.
On a screenshot in another thread I saw green crystal fields that looked like tyberium and it made me wonder how C&C 4X would look like.

Played the demo during Next Fest, was fun with some interesting ideas, terraforming with "magic", customize your grunts with equipment etc. But I only played 1-2 hours.
I'll wait until it's out of EA, but it's on my wishlist.
I bought it, because I'm a cuck for interesting strategy games. It's really interesting, but the UI is godawful. I wish strategy game designers could actually figure out how to design a good UI. But other than that, it seems to have taken all the best bits of Age of Wonders and Endless Legend, and mushed them into a single game.
I do wish they had committed to the idea that terraforming in tactical combat would change the world map. As it currently stands, all terraforming gets reversed at the end of combat. It would be super cool if you got to see the scars of large battles that happen in your game.
