RPG combat is almost always simpler to play and easier to master than action game combat.

Action games require timing and precision.
Action-RPGs add stats on top of that.
That's because combat is usually the dreaded part in tabletop roleplaying as it drags out. Video games let you roll behind the scenes and automate shit with ease. Sadly, this just lead to combat being the most easily recyclable form of content.
This is a meaningful criticism of avowed, which has pitched their ability to write intimate character stories but only market combat.
