OW2 is F2P, the battlepass is sold separately, there are no lootboxes and you require a blizzard account with a phone number to play the game. I don't know if gaben is even directly making money off of hosting OW2. I'm not sure what the angle is beyond getting more active steam users and maybe convincing some bnet users to buy games on steam.

I will be leaving a negative review because I played OW2 and I think it is a bad game. Since bnet doesn't have any such option but steam does I will take advantage of it to hopefully discourage at least 1 person from trying it.
My opinion that anyone still playing OW2 after its trainwreck of a development and continuous lying from blizzard is mentally ill doesn't factor into my review. I'm reviewing the game, not its playerbase.
Also, OW players will not feel "welcome". They will not play TF2 even if you're "nice" to them (not that you should want them in your playerbase anyway). They will continue playing OW2, Valorant and mobile gacha games because they were born without a frontal lobe.
