Fricking kojima ruse cruised me with the pre release MGS3 shitshow and then the game turned into be a prequel with BB and the gameplay being total shit show at that. Least it was visually pleasing at the time.
the game has less areas then the previous game did on the fricking ps1 and you don't even get to go to strut 2 because it conveniently blows up. arsenal gear is one fricking room and then a bunch of boss fights
frick off, you go to shell 2 in the disguise. Only strut L blows up.
Watch the making of DVD, there is very little cut, only thing they cut was snake running from a sinking ship and kijima said it was cut because it was boring.

The entire ending subplot where they try and fail to stop Arsenal Gear from plowing through New York City had to be removed because of 9/11, the same way Lilo & Stitch's airplane sequence was censored. I prefer it as is, Arsenal Gear never appearing in physical form always made me wonder if it was even supposed to be real or if it was another lie they were telling Raiden. I always assumed his mission was like half augmented reality/half VR and the Arsenal Gear sections were like dev debug rooms in video games. Then MGS4 was like "it was a big battleship bro"

Then he was angry when he found out westerners did not like Raiden at all while the japanese liked him.

i like raiden in mgs2 a lot. he reminds me a lot of a character like shinji in evangelion where he isnt the lead you expect to have, but unlike shinji, and despite him whining and shit, he manages to get the job done and is surprisingly competent. so raiden in that regard impressed me. over the course of the events of the game he also grows more into a developed confident character and we get to see that happen which is also nice.
MGS2's bait and switch worked for 2 reasons 1 is that the story and themes worked better for a new protagonist and 2 is that Snake is basically seen throughout the whole game and isn't sidelined unlike Scott

He doesn't feature super heavily from a story perspective, which is part of why you don't hear about him much. He shows up and does cool ninja shit at various points, but you hear more about him via conversations with Rose than you do him directly.
By MGS4, he's mostly just a stoic ninja guy which, to be fair, is an understandable way to be when you couldn't process your childhood trauma to the point that you drank yourself out of a marriage, your wife lied about miscarrying, you end up getting captured and experimented on to the point that you're basically just a skull with a spine attached, etc. He's still finding who he is in this game.
MGR is the one people identify with because at that point he processes everything he's been through and accepts that he enjoys murder, but will only do it when it's justified. It's an interesting way of framing your protagonist and he opens the game resisting it but eventually comes to terms with who he is. It also makes him a ton of fun to follow since he's just having a blast by about the halfway point of the game, rather than being a tortured soul.

lorewise Kojima just took a dump on him and MGS2's hopeful ending. his character arc finally resumed with MGR, but due to the cyborg shit it has going on, MGS4 was a necessary rut for him to be stuck in when it happened.

I don't see anything in the context of the game that suggests she was doing it for any reason than her own selfish emotional needs.

just have fun its a good game. the levels are all intelligently crafted for you to use the environment to your advantage. the game lets you do things like knock on walls or throw empty magazine to make distractions. just experiment thats the best advice. have fun.
also play through the entire thing and beat it, then after youve played it once, watch the hour or two hour long video about the hidden technology in the game. there is a moronic level of hidden detail in the game you will miss on your second fourth or tenth playthrough. so when you know about that stuff you can replay it and find new ways to do things. so thats like a new game plus. but dont ruin that and look it up now because you will rob yourself of the experience.
Holding up guards is not only good for the sake of getting the collectable dogtags, you can use that to get another’s attention.
Pay close attention to sound, shadows and reflections that give away positions on corners.
Explore a lot, there’s a lot of hidden stuff. Open locked lockers with kicks.
When aiming, you can lean with the triggers, and holding both helps you look around cover a bit.
