I haven't played 4 in a while but you should be able to. It's RNG whether it passes down though I think, you need to check with Barret whether or not it has the effects.
I checked with Barret, I used a magic earring to merge with my heart pendant, and Barret did mention the heart pendant, so I suppose that effect was in. But after merging my magicearring+heart pendant with the happy ring, Barret only mentioned the magic earring itself, so I was wondering if the effect still passes on and ended up reloading my save out of being scared of losing my only heart pendant

It wasn't censored, just cut content in general. It wasn't in the original JP release, and they even teased it in the voice commentary. But the original release was awful so they ended up not doing it. It only recently launched in the west and got a PC version literally yesterday, so it's not entirely out of the cards for them to go back and revisit it. Not likely, though.

I think they're different, Rune Factory games kinda come across as Action RPGs in the veins of Secret of Mana mixed a skill system similar to Elder Scrolls games, Stardew Valley has this aspect to it that reminds me a lot of the Minecraft/Terraria, building those crafting machines/stations, also SV was made by 1 guy right? it is a much smaller scope of a game compared to RF that is made by a team of people
Haven't played RF5 but I was really impressed with how RF4 had unique dialogue every day for every villager. Meanwhile Stardew has like 5 lines for every villager other than marriage and events

The town is specifically the part that suffers the most from being 3Dfied, the walking distance to one of the stores is so long compared to the 3 seconds between screens in previous games

Faster movement should be a part of character progression too to reduce that. Perhaps mid/late game a farming game such as this could introduce some sort of buying order list thing that you send out and in the next day you get the items you ordered for a fee, much like how shipping items happens in the day after you put the stuff in the box, the trader-NPC would also bring whatever you wanted from stores

It is part of the progression through accessories and shoes, it's just way too fricking late to matter since they're unlocked through rare items and requires 60 crafting at the earliest. It's probably also why the day goes by half as fast in RF5 compared to previous games. 1 second in 4 causes a minute to pass by, but it takes 2 seconds in 5 for a minute to pass.
Perhaps what's needed is some form of control refinement for farming activities, using Z target or so. Or instead of scrapping full 3D entirely, there could be a top down extra control/mode where the camera goes top down and you get more grid-like movement to facilitate using the tiles
This. Give me stardew's content and customization in the more immersive AWL style, just with less chibi characters. That would be the ideal farm game. I can't immerse myself in these life sim games when the camera is so removed and zoomed out it's basically godmode watching from the heavens.

5 pretty much has the same farming and crafting system.
The advanced crafting system can be pretty complex since the game barely explains it to you, but the farming is pretty simple.
Just use fertilizers to buff your soil and growth level, but keep in mind of their HP that gets reduced with each fertilizer you put into them, which you can heal by tilling grass or corns into it.

Cheats. Once you're rich and you upgrade the israeliteel shop you can buy crystals and not have to worry about soil quality or watering ever again, as you can just buy crystals and feed the dragon. You can also buy crystals to speed up how fast crops grow or how many crops can be harvested. Much better than the default farm.
You can feed dragons some crystals and then your fields get some sort of bonus. But they probably could have implemented that some other way, so not really.
I don't think they ever did, which probably means it was intended for them not being able to clear boulders and stumps despite having the animation of attacking them. Hopefully someone will make a mod for it.
More importantly, the fact that the configs don't let me remap the arrow and wasd keys is such an insult that i went back to playing on emulator to remap them

A lot of decisions in this are baffling to me. Like just for example, during the intro when Priscilla is showing you around your room they also play a long, separate cutscene to show her walking to each item. Okay, that's fine. But then they DON'T show your cooking table appearing on the platform so you know to pick it up there.
Apparently this is an issue confusing a lot of people who go to get a table or have it delivered and don't understand why it won't work, since the fat frick won't explain why.
And why have a dragon for different farms and monster barns? Just do what 4 did and put at least one barn down on ground floor so I don't have to go through 4 loading screens to pick up an egg.

The game already really struggles with loading the farm plot and the west "side" of town. Having to manage a monster barn and, god forbid, monsters working on the farm plot, would explode the game.
I'm starting to think 4 is baby's first RF. It's has less waifus and the story progression is a mess. It also wasn't comfy since shit was faster and your home gets visited by home invaders every few minutes.
I haven't played 4S since frick replaying 4 twice, but 4 felt like a step back from 3 in most ways.
If you can get past the artwork you'll find that it's just a janky chinese unity game. It's not really a farming game either, it's more about crafting.

Honestly, if it's going to go the gay route, having an option at the start is the best way to do it. That way you can get your bros maxed out without any homosexualry. Stardew's method is second best, but comes at the expense of capping your friendships with marriage candidates at 8 unless you cheat and/or go gay.
Stardew is completely fine because all achievements related to friendship only need all romanceable villagers at the max friendship you can get to without dating, and the cutscenes for villagers when dating are far more explicitly romantic, so you arent missing anything really if your aim is to be "bestest friends".
Its also fricking moronic that RF5 has a seperate achievement for marrying each romanceable villager.

I have stardew valley expanded installed and despite it introducing some characters I dont really like, it adds quite a few very vanilla feeling events to the villagers to flesh them out outside of dating.

But they arent. Thats the point of the reality bending. Their sexuality will conform with the players choices. The easiest comparison is the Witcher 3 where reality bending through choices happens quite consistently in the game, starting with the witcher 2 choices (like if leto is alive or not) and continuing with stuff like the Yen quest where you actively choose if Geralt still loves yen or not.
The point of the reality bending is that everyone is normal (straight) unless you romance them, and then they conform to your sexual identity.

I think they're different, Rune Factory games kinda come across as Action RPGs in the veins of Secret of Mana mixed a skill system similar to Elder Scrolls games, Stardew Valley has this aspect to it that reminds me a lot of the Minecraft/Terraria, building those crafting machines/stations, also SV was made by 1 guy right? it is a much smaller scope of a game compared to RF that is made by a team of people
Haven't played RF5 but I was really impressed with how RF4 had unique dialogue every day for every villager. Meanwhile Stardew has like 5 lines for every villager other than marriage and events

Faster movement should be a part of character progression too to reduce that. Perhaps mid/late game a farming game such as this could introduce some sort of buying order list thing that you send out and in the next day you get the items you ordered for a fee, much like how shipping items happens in the day after you put the stuff in the box, the trader-NPC would also bring whatever you wanted from stores
It is part of the progression through accessories and shoes, it's just way too fricking late to matter since they're unlocked through rare items and requires 60 crafting at the earliest. It's probably also why the day goes by half as fast in RF5 compared to previous games. 1 second in 4 causes a minute to pass by, but it takes 2 seconds in 5 for a minute to pass.
Perhaps what's needed is some form of control refinement for farming activities, using Z target or so. Or instead of scrapping full 3D entirely, there could be a top down extra control/mode where the camera goes top down and you get more grid-like movement to facilitate using the tiles
RF5 is just plain shit look at tides of destiny for a farm game that does 3d better.

The advanced crafting system can be pretty complex since the game barely explains it to you, but the farming is pretty simple.
Just use fertilizers to buff your soil and growth level, but keep in mind of their HP that gets reduced with each fertilizer you put into them, which you can heal by tilling grass or corns into it.

Cheats. Once you're rich and you upgrade the israeliteel shop you can buy crystals and not have to worry about soil quality or watering ever again, as you can just buy crystals and feed the dragon. You can also buy crystals to speed up how fast crops grow or how many crops can be harvested. Much better than the default farm.
You can feed dragons some crystals and then your fields get some sort of bonus. But they probably could have implemented that some other way, so not really.

A lot of decisions in this are baffling to me. Like just for example, during the intro when Priscilla is showing you around your room they also play a long, separate cutscene to show her walking to each item. Okay, that's fine. But then they DON'T show your cooking table appearing on the platform so you know to pick it up there.
Apparently this is an issue confusing a lot of people who go to get a table or have it delivered and don't understand why it won't work, since the fat frick won't explain why.
And why have a dragon for different farms and monster barns? Just do what 4 did and put at least one barn down on ground floor so I don't have to go through 4 loading screens to pick up an egg.

Honestly, if it's going to go the gay route, having an option at the start is the best way to do it. That way you can get your bros maxed out without any homosexualry. Stardew's method is second best, but comes at the expense of capping your friendships with marriage candidates at 8 unless you cheat and/or go gay.
Stardew is completely fine because all achievements related to friendship only need all romanceable villagers at the max friendship you can get to without dating, and the cutscenes for villagers when dating are far more explicitly romantic, so you arent missing anything really if your aim is to be "bestest friends".
Its also fricking moronic that RF5 has a seperate achievement for marrying each romanceable villager.

That is the weakness of the "reality bends to your choices" route that Stardew and RF5 take, where a character becomes gay if you romance them as same gender, but is straight if you romance them as the opposite gender.
Honestly the more I think about it the more I think RF5 and Stardew are very similar in their flaws but in Stardew the modding scene is so strong that you can basically fix everything.

But they arent. Thats the point of the reality bending. Their sexuality will conform with the players choices. The easiest comparison is the Witcher 3 where reality bending through choices happens quite consistently in the game, starting with the witcher 2 choices (like if leto is alive or not) and continuing with stuff like the Yen quest where you actively choose if Geralt still loves yen or not.
The point of the reality bending is that everyone is normal (straight) unless you romance them, and then they conform to your sexual identity.

Elsje is practically the same character you could marry in the last two games (Katrina and Clorica) but this time that archetype is arbitrarily off limits. And to add insult to injury she has absolutely MASSIVE breasts, to the point of excess. They really are doing this on purpose.
I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if Misa, Elsje and Terry were initially romanceable. Their designs are too detailed and too stand out not to be.

then why not allow us to make a slightly older looking MC? let us pick the option at character creation, doesn't have to look old and rugged like the blacksmith or giga yiffchad murakumo but something like Terry seems like it'd fit japan's idea of a playable adult male
RF5 protag looks a hell of a lot older than every previous RF protagonist, like he could be 17-18 easily. Frey and Lest straight up look 13 years old.
They wouldnt be able to use an actual older looking protag (like over 20) because 90% of the bachelorettes are drawn as 15 year olds.
