It would be better if the developers weren't lazy fricks and programmed a different experience for both genders, but for saving time they're not going to bother and I get that. What I'm complaining specifically is that every romantic option in this game is open from the beginning, and it's pretty hard to avoid them with characters you don't want them with because they're your same sex. And you don't even need to woo them that hard to activate the initial ones, most of them start appearing when they reach 2 hearts which is just talking to them.

If you're looking for something comfy like a farming sim, but with combat and dungeons, you can try recettear. I wouldn't really say the combat or dungeons are better and there's no farming, but it's similar in that it's a laidback experience with those aspects. Or you could try something like sakuna or persona. Or just get rune factory. These games are unique in their attempt to balance laidback comfy with dungeons and combat.
If you really just want pure dungeons and combat, then that's very broad and there's loads of games that could scratch that itch all the way from enter the gungeon to darkest dungeon to zelda to noita. I'd just recommend looking up dungeon crawler on steam and seeing what you like.

I enjoyed harvest moon, stardew and played RF4 until end game when it launched, I also like rpgs, the combat system stops being enjoyable when you’re stuck with mobile tier animations, graphics, movement and gameplay with repetitive and empty npc personalities. Had they stylized the game and improved the locomotion dynamics it’d be perfect but i can’t overlook how dated this game looks, I wish they’d improve on all of this.
I can’t say I liked it that much but there’s not really many games with this concept, I wouldn’t replay it without shit load of mods that address these issues

by the way I'm playing RF4S right now and I wanna know something about merging accessories, I got a magic earrings with a heart pendant merged upon creation, Barret refers to the heart pendant about it so I'm good, I wanna fuse it with a happy ring, can I fuse that magic earring in the creation process of another accessory,. will the heart pendant effect also transfer? I tried doing it and Barret did mention the magic earring in how it was created, but I'm not sure if he should have referred to the heart pendant that's within the magic earring so I savescummed away, would that indicate the heart pendant effect was transferred, if Barret mentions the accessory that was already a fusion?
If anything they should make this fusion/inheritance system more clear and remove any RNG involved in RF5 or 6 if it wasn't done

Most character has missable unique dialogue when facing boss for the first time. So instead bringing the strongest allies, Its better to bring your favourite.

PC load times are an order of magnitude faster than Switch. It's game changing. Screen transitions aren't a nightmare anymore.

Yes. The combat is bad. Like Ai are stupid and slow. I know in RF4 the Ai grow depend on character level, but its way too late. And by thay time RF5 difficulty is still easy.

4 is not comfy any longer. Your house is at the center of the town and you live with a dragon and buttlers in a mansion instead somewhere isolated in your own house. People just enter your room at any time they want to, your room doesn't even have real doors. The town is also weirdly royal town looking with the fully plastered streets out of high grade stone. They obviously had no idea what they were doing in terms of comfyness.

No, RF5 feels weird. If you want to know to what extent, I have a hint. If you fall from any height and perform an attack immediately after falling, you slide really far. It's very noticeable if you use a longsword.

I put like 200 hours in the 4th one, but I'm on the edge with this one; the colors looks very bright (could probably fix them in nvidia control panel) and the art direction/transition to 3D is questionable (I feel they put more effort in the opening sequence than everything else, or maybe they blew their budget on Matsuoka).
I don't mind if it's "more of the same", since I enjoyed going full autism with the 4th, but the other complaints make me consider if it's worth the price tag.

In particular the performance of the switch release. Just because it runs fine on PC does NOT mean that it was in any way acceptable to release the switch version in the way it was. That doesn't change it, anyone who spent good money on that copy is still burned by it. It's completely unacceptable to be released in that state.
I have over 400 hours in the Switch version. It was clearly acceptable. People kept posting ancient Japanese webms of players falling through floors but no evidence was provided that it was still in the patched Global version. And the framerates only stuttered when you first loaded into an area. After a couple of seconds they would stabilize.
And load times? I'm 35. I'm used to load times. Maybe if you're ten and you need everything to be on an SSD you'd have a problem with it but I didn't.

I played it last two days before release and using gloves is one of the most painful combat experiences I've ever had. If you're required to press an input half a second to a full second ahead of time for the impact so you just have the guess and mash buttons for combat then that is inexcusable. Rune Factory 4 is one of the best farming sim games ever made. The only thing Stardew Valley has over it is that it has multiplayer. Everything else is better in RF4.

I've never played stardew valley but everyone says RF farming, at least in 4, has more depth to it, but the combat and crafting is definitely better, there's so much shit you can do with crafting, most of which are hidden mechanics you have to figure out on your own or look it up
they're quite different, when it comes to crops for example SV follows that Harvest Moon model where each season has its own crops and most of them just get obliterated upon a season change, in RF4 there are more variables involved, they don't disappear but there are seasons where specific crops grow faster and in others it's slower, and they don't magically die upon a season change, which is nice, there are a lot of little details about how soil works, not only being able to speed it up but there are items that boost the quality of items, which is more expanded than on SV
I think the item quality scaling from RF4/Story of Seasons should really be copied by SV. Most items have 10 levels of quality, and if you use a level 10 turnip to make a salad, it will be sold for much more than one made with a lv 1 turnip, also its bufs will be greatly expanded as well. You can get higher level seeds by using a scythe on grown crops. This is something that has always bothered me in SV, if you use artifact quality base mats for food, it makes no difference at all to the end product
RF4 is way more of an action RPG, with tons of skills that gradually increase upon using, shitloads of them, walking is considered a skill, there are multiple weapon types, elemental magic, and each one of the skills increases certain things, HP/Rune Points (the energy equivalent of the game) and some combat stat like leveling shortsword increases your strength stat
There's a whole lot of shit to do with crafting, you can craft tons of shit, and you can stack many buffs by using monster drops, and you can also increment the recipes yourself with those buff items. There's a whole lot of stuff you can do that is kinda cryptic.
When it comes to barns for example you can tame all monsters you find in the game, and some of them give those crafting materials that give buffs when in a barn, not all of them do

Texture resolution is a thing. Also marvelous could only go far with these low-res origami models until people started to notice how basic the character look closely. It's better to try out new tools, even if they are clumsily used at first, than to stick forever to the same ones

In rune factory 4, can you combine an accessory you already combined with another one and get 2 effects from it?
I don't have a way to craft heart pendants now and I combined that into another accessory but now I can craft Happy rings, can I use that combined heart pendant + other acc with a happy ring to get both effects?
