matchmaking is broken, co-op rarely works and season 1 is shit
NG+ sucks, there's no hard mode and it doesn't have much of a postgame. I'm more positive about the game than most, but while I think I would have liked to sink more time into a more robust postgame, I'm done with it for now seeing as that isn't there.

The game isn't very repayable unlike the first game, the fact that they send your rift stones to your inventory in NG+ just straight up kills the mood to do shit again. I also don't care for the new map either, it might be bigger but it has less interesting shit in it.

BG3 sold more than that but the explanation is quite simple: popularity + co-op + long playthroughs + PC-centric player-base
BG3 sold more over the next several months, but that 5.3 million number was the leaked number from the first month or so. Which means at the time of the concurrent player peak, almost 1 in 5 people across all different time zones who bought the game were playing BG3 at the same time. No other game has ever achieved such a sales to concurrent player ratio in the history of steam. Other hit games like ER and Hogwarts Legacy had to sell 4 times the copies to achieve similar concurrent player counts and ER was almost definitely a more hyped up game than BG3 and had way more attention on Twitch, Youtube etc.
Hogwarts Legacy is neither coop nor PC-centric either. BG3 only appears anomalous if you forget its unique circumstances. It really was (is) lightning in a bottle.
