Given that the creator used the mindset that most players use online resources to find shit, he built his game with that in mind and has done so ever since the first Dark Souls game. I hate taking breaks from gaming, but this seems like the right time. If Capcom decides to fix performance and patch issues then I expect those changes to take at least a year. It's a great game, but I just don't think it was ever going to be Elden Ring tier. Same way DD1 was never Dark Souls tier even after adding BBI. They're both great in their own way, but the spectacle kicks in wayyyyy too late in DD2 and some would say too little too late.

I think DD:DA is a lot better than DS1 (with Artorias). DD2 is clearly unfinished, and performs much worse than ER did on launch, which seems to have hurt it's launch. It won't do close to ER's numbers, although it's definitely salvageable with good patches and an expansion.
Unmoored world is the best part of game due to having good enemy variety & you can only reset bosses once before the game forces you to end it & go back to infinite goblins/saurians/harpies/ogres/cyclops.
I got one dullahan fight & that was due to a quest, two wights, one lich, two fell lords, one medusa & one pus dragon in the main game. In the unmoored world I encountered tons of all of these except for medusa all out in the open, this is how it should've been in the main game.

Currently playing as Warfarer. It's so much switching between all the weapon types. You just switch to whatever is most suited in the situation.
I always wished Monster Hunter would allow you to do something like this, like carry a big 2 hander sword but then switch to a bow, just to switch it up a bit, so Warfarer seems right for me.

Easily one of my most favorite games of all time. I think it's actually better than elden ring. The open world is significantly better for instance as is the combat in my opinion.
I feel the same way about the Elden Ring connection, but it's coming from the perspective of someone who plays a lot of video games. Elden Ring got old like 20 hours in for me after being a From Fan since DeS. I'm 100+ hours into DD2 as well and am still having a great time. There were some stretches of total immersion loss due to things like janky quest triggers and game systems (stealth, the fact that you outlevel everything in the game ridiculously fast, etc.) but overall I'm loving it.
Got ambushed by wolves an hour ago after I'd discarded some meat and found out they'll actually run over and eat the meat mid-fight. This is the first game in ages that's had that Metal Gear sense of fun. It's not perfect, but at least it's not Elden Ring
NTA. I would say that as a whole, I like ER more than DD2, but DD2 is definitely a game on the cusp of greatness. It has a lot of interesting aspects to it, most of the base package is fun, there's hardly any other game can directly compete with it on its merits. I sure as frick hope Capcom won't just cut tail and run because it would be a real shame.
ER is a very simple game. It's big dark souls where your traditional souls gameplay is separated by open fields and hills. It also has very basic crafting system. It's lack of ambition is also its strength, since it never tries to reach beyond dungeon crawling stamina based combat.
Dragon's Dogma has always been a far more ambitious series, with the problems that come with it.

From what I understand you have to beat certain bosses to stop it from ending. The strategy is to stock up on wakestones and to swap out pawns that are tired and not rest/sleep until you've defeated these particular bosses.
Its 12 rests and they are more than enough
I did everything without resting once by using a bunch of wakestones
End game is 12 'days' only. Since time doesn't change from midnight, that means 12 rests at an inn/owned bed (camps are disabled for resting).
Each day the cloud advances covering more of the land. However if you complete the quests and the initial 5 bosses the cloud advance will stop. At this point you're free to explore the map for your 12 rests.
As other anons mentioned, you can use Allheals and Wakestones to return yourself to full. As for your pawns, just let them die and rehire and they'll be at full. Apparently you can't get rid of Dragonplague if your mainpawn catches it though, so be careful of who you hire.
If you die, you have the choice of returning to your last inn rest, or restarting the whole 12 day cycle. That last one is useful if you frick something up early on, since you can just godsbane and try again rather than wait for NG+

Imagine if Miyazaki released Demon's Souls and then there was a giant 10 year gap and then ER dropped. Would it have the same hype train behind it? Probably not.
