SHUT THE FRICK UP
I don't think it's that they were prohibiting Sega, so much as they're willing, but they want some stupid rate to license it out, and likely want a cut of each copy of the game sold. At this point, it's not even heavily rumored MJ's team was involved.
MJ’s estate charges roughly 20,000,000 in rights fees apparently to use his likeness or music.
lmao greedy entities are getting a taste of their own medicine. Reap what they sow.
This and their handling of MJ's post-humous releases is a fricking crime.
Pretty based hope his kids are getting all that money
Love how mj was okay being in sonic, vice city, and even plants VS zombies until he died. Then he stopped being in anything and is slowly fading into irrelevancy.
moron. Literally all musicians in the world are compared to him. You legit cannot go a day on social media without seeing people name drop him to compare their favourite FOTM zoomer artist to MJ. As long as music exists he will be unsurpassed as the biggest icon on earth
That's a stretch. He will likely be forgotten before Mozart
You are literally moronic. Comparing a literal who like Mozart to Michael fricking Jackson.
>Literal who like mozart
>Literally everyone knows who he is, almost 300 years later
My little zoomer, you have no concept of time. The vast majority of people alive today were alive when MJ was.
>Everyone knows who Mozart is
Prove it.
Mozart is probably more recognizable than Michael Jackson today, let alone 300 years from now
Actual delusion. From a hipster who lives in his own bubble. Nobody in the world knows who mozart or beethoven is. And most probably couldn’t point out a picture of Shakespeare if you showed them
And yet here you are, a random homosexual on a videogame board, naming them. You think anyone will name MJ in 300 years? Nope
Lowest tier bait
>The study, conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts, found that just 4 percent of Americans ages 18-24 could correctly identify Mozart when presented with a list of six famous composers. This is a sharp decline from previous generations; in 1982, a similar study found that only 18 percent of Americans could identify Mozart.
Roughly in basic terms he’s more niche than someone like Prince or even Shakira
>Americans are moronic
Everyone knows. If the majority of Americans can't find Africa on a map then they won't recognize Mozart either. And again, you are not representative of the world in any way shape or form.
What country are you from thirdie?
>Resident of country with 3rd world violence rates and 3rd world access to healthcare and education calls others thirdies
You guys crack me up
Literally every aspect of society is shaped by America you absolute moron. I wish it wasn’t true. But the world revolves around American culture
Delusional American lmao. Mozart was born before your country was even founded.
They should've showed them some Wagner instead. Atleast his music they recognize from Vietnam war propaganda movies.
Identity him as what he was known for or what he looked like?
Solely name recognition
How does that make sense? The article is garbage and doesn't specify methodology and I can't find the original "study". It said they presented people with a list of 6 famous composers. What was the question? Recognize any of these names? Cause that's fricking dumb.
It would make more sense to play music and ask them to identify who composed it, which is probably what they did.
That is sad, but know that I think about it I can't name a song by him besides Overture.
It's hard to remember compositions when they don't have memorable names.
Vivaldi wins by having the 4 seasons named after each of the seasons.
Also winter is the superior one, but only spring is ever put in media
Symphony n40?
Beethoven and Mozart both have symphonies with just numbers and I can't remember which belongs to who without hearing them
Half of the world doesn’t even know Hitler
>https://global100.adl.org/map/ (Go to Survey Questions: Holocaust)
Despite that in the most remote place on earth, every person there is a Michael Jackson fan who also follows Christianity
>https://www.tristandc.com/newsschool2014artsshow.php
>The elementary school put on a performing arts show for the Agulhas visitors and islanders on 30th September 2014. Many islanders were involved in off loading the Agulhas II but parents were allowed to attend the show at 5.30 pm. The show started with a dance to Thriller, zombies appeared from all directions and danced with Nathan Swain, the island's Michael Jackson lookalike.
Those people weren’t born when he was alive.
I wonder what it's like to be a Michael Jackson lookalike on the world's most remote island.
>lookalike
He is the real Michael, he staged his death and now he is a school teacher in a remote island living the dream.
Roughly 4,000,000,000+ people have seen Thriller worldwide since it’s release in 1982. That’s how many fans he has right now, only Soccer is bigger
On a related note, one of my bored and drunk at 3am pastimes is looking up these remote ass islands on google maps, finding their restaurants, and reading the reviews/looking at the pics. There's some great stuff to be found. I was gonna link the listing for the pizza place in Adamstown on the Pitcairn Islands, but it looks like they were delisted. Probably because the pictures displayed pizzas that were an affront to God with real wacky shit like blueberries and kiwi and M&Ms on them and also because only like 50 people live on the island.
Everyone with access to internet, television or radio will know Michael Jackson and or Jesus. Any place that knows one will have heard about the other since israelites never go a day without bringing them up. You can cope about this fact all you want
>American thinks his israelite culture will be relevant in hundreds of years
Lmao. You realize you make up less than 4% of the world's population, right...?
>The people who’ve controlled every aspect of society for 1000 years will suddenly be ousted from power.
Heh, this is the most delusional statement you’ve made zoomer
>Controlled every aspect of society
Lol. Lmao.
The announcement of his death caused fighting in the Middle East to stop for about two days because the hadjis were so bummed out. I don't think anyone else in history has pulled that off.
it's amazing that people keep saying this when the only evidence for it is some random dude in the youtube comments section
It’s amazing you claim evidence matters when it’s something good about him but believe outlandish negative claims about him that have no evidence to support them without a second thought
I've never believed he did it and I think any media involved in the 2005 trial should be executed by firing squad for producing the most shameful episode in journalistic history
I just also don't think 'random guy in the comments section' is a good source
Why do you keep putting words in peoples’ mouths? Just because someone doesn’t believe he was the messiah doesn’t mean they believe the pedo accusations.
Debatable, We do know is that he is the most popular person ever so it’s possible but we need more than one short claim, if it was in depth story recounting the event it’s true though. I legit cannot find many places on the map where people don’t all know who he is. His popularity seems to peak in India, China, Brazil and Africa. Where seemingly everyone knows him and likes him in the regions.
Zoomers don’t give a frick about MJ, millennials don’t care much for him either since they grew up seeing him as some drugged up plastic surgery’d weirdo accused of being a pedo.
The entire world disagrees with you there champ.
I think you’re a little too obsessed with worshipping some dead celebrity. You know this isn’t a good substitute for a real religion, right?
You literally have a whole month dedicated to worshipping MLK homosexual and he accomplished nothing other than plagerizing speeches israelites wrote for him
Why do you think I care about Black folk?
My 15 year old niece loves his music, so guess again.
>anecdotal evidence
Okay? If you asked a random zoomer if they know or care about MJ I strongly doubt they would.
How much of this is actually coming from newer younger fans though? And of course his music still makes so much money when the israelites charge tens of millions to license it.
>Breaks broadway records
>Holds the circus de solei record for annual revenue
>Has made billions since his death
>Is more popular now than he’s ever been
Not sure how you come up with this nonsense, maybe watching so much left wing media rotted your brain
Someone literally went to india and became a buddhist monk a couple years ago (2018) and reported that all of the underage children were moonwalking in the hallways and only listened to his music. They also liked capeshit and soccer
Third worlders are happy to get our 30 year old leftovers because now they can afford them, good for them.
Well doesn't help with the whole pedophilia accusations tainting his image
Nobody cares evidently since he’s worth more money than the bible, shakespeare and the mona lisa right now
>No source
Either post a link or GTFO.
This has been known for decades. Jackson composed some of the music for Sonic 3 but the game was supposed to release just after he was first accused of molesting kids. Sega didn't want his name attached to what was ostensibly a kid's game but they have enough time to compose new music so they brought in some nobody to remix his tracks and credited the nobody composer. The problem was that the remixed tracks weren't distinct enough to be considered "new" songs legally so Jackson filed suit.
It's been stuck in licensing hell ever since and it's why Sega wouldn't allow Christian Whitehead to release his version of Sonic 3 on mobile and replaced the entire Sonic 3 soundtrack for the rerelease last year.
>Sega didn't want his name attached to what was ostensibly a kid's game
What actually happened was that Sony tightened the screws on Sega once they smelt blood in the water and got the chance to kill of MJ as revenge for bucking them.
copyright shouldn't even last 30 years, let alone still exist after you die
Blame Sonny Bono
I personally blame Mickey Mouse.
If Sonic 3 and Knuckles soundtrack was so controversial because of MJ, why did they include it intact in this 2004 release?
Because Michael was alive back then
There's a reason why Sonic & Knuckles was on Steam for a very long time before Origins came out and it's because it released in a time before Michael Jackson's death had fully shifted the Jackson Estate's new rules into full motion. With the shift, there was never a new 3&K release again besides a horrifically bad AtGames machine that honestly was questionably legal, until Origins finally had them relent at the cost of Sega taking over for sound and music duty and skullfricking it hard.
Michael Jackson fricked kids.
I'm not complaining, the prototype music is better than what we got in the final game. Frick Origins for messing it up though
israelite me, sue me
Everybody, do me
Kick me, israelite me
Don't you black or white me
Do people call him the blue blur because he’s so irrelevant most don’t remember anything about him but he’s blue?
I hate being a sonic fan
Are you autistic? Wait you’re a Sonic fan, of course you are.
Earth Song is a bad song.
I don't comprehend how MJ got so gargantuanly popular. He made some good tunes, yeah, but most well known person in history good? I don't know about that one.
