New Moon is however reworking and rebalancing a good amount of the game so a lot of stuff could be different, but this wiki is just a general idea. There is a New Moon wiki being worked on but when the game fully launches players will basically for the most part be going in discovering things for themselves.

In one of their recent livestreams a dev said they contacted and talked with Atlus lawyers and said they're at no risk of getting shut down. Re:Imagine never actually got contacted by lawyers. They shut their server down because they were fearful of getting lawsuits after their identities were leaked by a homosexual who purposely orchestrated drama. It's a long story.

How do classes work in this? The wiki keeps talking about classes and hybrid without actually explaining what they do.
Read up on the expertise stuff. That's typically what each class revolves around. You basically raise your expertise by using abilities associated with the class.

This shit can get really complex but if you decide on a class to main then someone with enough knowledge in that class can guide you and it becomes fairly simple.
In short when deciding what class you want to play
>Select your expertise you want to level up
>Use abilities to level up said expertise (example: using Agi to level up Destructive Magic)
>Unlock specific skills when leveling up specific expertise
You also have basic stuff you see in MMOs like attributes

>Vitality
>Intelligence
>Speed
>Luck
And depending on your build you allocate the points to your correct attributes. Example a melee build can be Strength, Vitality and Luck.
All of this is really just surface level.

That's another thing about acquiring skills in the game. You don't have to just get them through expertise, you can get them from equipment sets. You can even use crafting skills to transfer over a skill from a piece of equipment over to another, so that equipment will have the stats you want and the skill you want.
So for a Magic Fist build, it looks like you'd want Magic as your primary stat, plus some Strength and Vitality? And obviously you'd invest in the three expertise that Magic Fist is based on.

Neat. I imagine stuff can get pretty complex between demon fusion and equipment skills.
By late game you'll have enough points to max out two attributes and some extra points to go into a third. I think with Magic Fist you would have to focus on maxing out Magic and Strength then whatever you have left goes into Vitality. A melee build that doesn't use Magic would instead use Luck for crit chance.
And yeah if you want to get into stuff like equipment skill transferring you'd have to level a crafter alt or get a friend who's a crafter to do it. Or you could get lucky and find a player vendor selling specific gear with the right stats and skills you'd want.
Making the in-game currency (macca) isn't actually difficult and I know all the early ways of making it.

You can beta test it right now but when it fully launches on 20th your progress will be wiped. You also get exclusive rewards for beta testing so might as well just make a character and log in and out real quick if it matters. Probably won't be game changing rewards.

Everything major is translated, way more than what Re:Imagine had. I think the only untranslated stuff is small skippable text through some dialogue.

There's not really a rotation you have to keep up. You just use specific skills depending on the demons you're against. Most melee and gunner skills are insta-cast while magic not so much.

Sorry I'm replying to this late, I went to sleep. Anyways you have your basic type of dungeons with demon spawns and a boss but then you got puzzle dungeons, dungeons where different routes show different things, dungeons where you can't even use your demons, dungeons where depending on the moon phase different things will spawn, dungeons where you play AS your demon. A few dungeons have a difficulty tier which is bronze, silver and gold. As you can imagine gold is the hardest. There's an endgame raid called Diaspora which consists of 30 players along with their demons.

You mean enchanter like offering buffs, debuffs, healing and resurrecting? If so yeah you can do all that. You can do that with damage skills or you can be a damage mage with a demon that has buffing/debuffing/healing. Or you can be a hybrid mage with a demon that does physical damage.

Are there any cookie cutter build guides for people with crippling anxiety like me who'll cry like a baby back b***h the moment they misplace one skill point. I typically need to learn a game through example if it's really hard to respec/turnaround what I'm doing.
What class are you particularly interested in? In the discord people have only posted a few google doc guides for some builds. They're fairly simple to follow depending on who makes the guide. Though you shouldn't worry about making a mistake because resetting your expertise points and attributes is as easy and talking to an npc and buying an item that's pretty cheap.

It seems like up to Act 17 is the latest that's translated. Thing about the acts is all you need to have is just the Re:Imagine wiki open and type in whatever act you're on in the search bar and the page will tell you what dialogue options to press, it's pretty simple.

IIRC you can choose which specific expertise to refund but when it comes to attributes I'm pretty sure all the points are refunded.

What do you actually do in this game? I've only played the official server a bit before it went down and only did a few early dungeons + the game didn't have much content at the time. What's mid and end game like? What do you generally do in an average session?
I explained earlier in the thread but there's all sorts of dungeons with different stipulations. All worth doing if you need a specific demon or gear piece or other drop. Levelling in the game isn't actually that much of a grind. You can get to max level in about a week or two depending on how many hours you log in every day. The real grind is getting your expertise leveled up and collecting demons. You can be max level by mid game but you won't be endgame ready if you don't have the right build which consists of expertise levels, gear, collecting specific demons you need and building their stats. Just getting gear alone can take a while because the best gear drops from more difficult content that you'll definitely need a group to do at first, then you might have to have a synthesizer alt or synthesizer friend to transfer the best stats and skills to that gear depending on what build you're going after, or you can outright buy good gear from player vendors but only if you have a ton of macca. Don't even get me started on getting good demons and building them.
Endgame you got stuff like gold-tier difficulty dungeons, some can be a pain. Diaspora which is the endgame 30-man raid which is supposed to be the hardest content in the game. Some Abyss towers can be incredibly difficult like the Demi-Fiend fight. A lot of other stuff I just can't be bothered to remember. Throughout the game you'll also have to decide what alignment you'll go with. It plays an important role in your build and the percent rate of having successful demon fusions of higher tier demons.
Also forgot to mention that New Moon devs said they're gonna add custom content, so that'll be stuff new even to people who already played Imagine.

No you can have chaos demons if you're law alignment and vice versa. Though if you're chaos and you're trying to fuse for law demons the percent chance of successfully fusing them will be lower, versus if you're chaos fusing a chaos demon the percent will be higher. Also in the game you need a resource called magnetite to summon demons and depending on what alignment you are the cost of magnetite is either lower or higher, but either way getting a large amount of magnetite is actually easy. I remember when I played Re:Imagine and I was a lawchad I summoned chaos demons that had a 1% success rate. Took like 20 tries though.
There is a special cathedral in Ikebukuro where you use a special currency to fuse demons and you'll always get a 100% success rate, but you have to have the demons you're using for the fusion to have a certain friend level with you.
So it's like running raids to get gear to run harder raids? Is there any content outside of dungeons? I don't just mean fighting things on field or story quests but is there like any side stuff, minigames or anything?

All I can think of is the casino and Club Hourai. Unfortunately the casino in the official servers ran on adobe flash and private servers haven't figured out how to replicate it. There have been recent talks about it in the discord though and they might figure out something. Club Hourai is like a dating sim with demons and idols. There's PvP but that still counts as fighting.

Idk how New Order hands out their comp gear to players but the dungeon drops in New Moon sound interesting. Honestly I didn't mind the way Re:IMAGINE did it with spending Yagiya reports on comp points then spending comp points on fortune cards for gear and other valuable shit. I remember me and my friends would grind Shibuya Quartz on the bonus day and get Yagiya reports all day.

I think this was the issue with that way of doing things. It discouraged running most of the game's dungeons and made people farm only the dungeons that gave them the most reports the most efficiently.
Yeah but even on bonus days for other dungeons nobody really ran them as much as they did Shibuya Quartz because Shibuya was such a short dungeon, even the silver version. It was also efficient for grinding digitalize points in BEARCAT mode for how quick it was. No other dungeon was really that quick and if I remember correctly the bonus day for Shibuya was once a week. Me and my friends really wouldn't even grind the other dungeons we'd just play the game normally doing all the other content but only grind for Yagiya reports when it was Shibuya day.

What the frick are you talking about? They had consistent updates that patched in new translations, bug fixes, and even additions. I still remember when they added the material tank and even did seasonal content. Also there are some devs who worked on Re:Imagine helping with New Moon.
Most of what you listed was stuff lifted and slightly edited from the open source project's members, the ones who were sued.
Very little of it was original work, and they couldn't do things like fix server exploits. Re:Imagine only had one real content dev, and according to the guy who recreated most of the original game content, that guy's work was basically shit.

ReIMAGINE stole credit for A LOT of what the open source did. Then eventually lost access to both the close sourced updates (critical bug fixes) as well as translations. Had major corruption in the GM & Admin roles.
New Moon is essentially ReIMAGINE 2.0 with less content. They have no translator so the translations are incredibly far behind. Several devs that literally do nothing except edit random text files and call it new content, quite a few of the same people, and several wipes. One of the GMs that would RMT currently exists and that's Phazon. Windy refuses to boot them despite being told about it by a known member. New Moon also has absurd amounts of downtime and restarts compared to other servers. They had the 2g worth of files malware scare caused by an ex-sketchy dev and literally NO ONE ON THE TEAM noticed it for months until an outside person pointed it out.
New Order has only 2 people working on things, but is significantly farther on translations than any other server. And essentially 1 active GM, Mica. The other GMs kind of either barely do anything or just have the role for shits and giggles. Seo is also slacking in a lot. New Order is essentially the central hub of the private servers at the moment. Majority of the open source team hovers specifically on this server in the shadows.
New World & Black Frost server just merged. Alicezy is taking lead. They use free unity assets for dungeons and it looks absolutely terrible, but at least they're trying. Alice is doing translations but it's in broken english/MTL so not quality translations. They have been caught a few times takes credit and not asking to use some custom models from other servers then being told to remove them.

Quick questions. I played the NA version of this when it was live and wanted to know why they had to translate this version from scratch, was there a newer client after NA closed down or something? Second, running around taming demons was fun but I recall there was virtually no content. The overworld had demons but otherwise nothing to explore and dungeons were just a corridor or 2 or 3 rooms with a chest at the end. Is there more to do these days?

Fusing demons cost from around 100 to at most around 5k macca, ranging from lower level to higher level demons and rarity. I know the best ways to get macca so 5k is nothing. When you actually wanna summon your demons from your COMP it costs either a few magnetite or a few thousand, again depending on the level and rarity of the demon. Magnetite naturally drops from mobs and other resources, it's not hard to get.

If the server has a lot of reported disconnects on day one of launch due to the influx of log-ins they'll say something about it, as if shit like that doesn't even happen to official servers of mmos. They'll point out text that haven't been translated yet and say it's unplayable or "our server has this translated and you guys don't". If neither of these tactics work they'll pretend they were anons playing the new server and say they're quitting because it's shit. How does grouping work in this, is there a level range? I don't mind getting less exp for being out of range but I'd like to be able to play when my friends aren't online without an alt.
Most of the dungeons are 5-man with some exceptions. At the end of every dungeon you get golden apples which you can exchange for either player exp or demon exp at a Vivian NPC. Usually what people do is save those apples in bulk then turn them in for a massive gain of levels. There's other ways to level up quickly like doing hacked chip runs. Some dungeons are locked behind level requirement and story progression. You can definitely solo level while your friends are offline though.

Do I want my demon to do the same as my role, or to compliment it? I assume if I join a group as a mage then it'd be useful if my demon was also a mage.
i think best is to compliment - but you will have more than one demon def.
If you're a mage, have a demon with a large health pool and uses physical skills. If you're melee, have a demon that does ranged magic and has buffing/healing. You get the idea. When you're in a group typically just have a demon that buffs/debuffs/heals/revive.

The talk,taunt and threaten expertise help with taming, there might be others that give a passive bonus. I don't know about the other questions.

There are expertise and equips with passives that increase the chance, other than that it is affected by cooldown speeds so eventually you can spam it very quickly. Other than that it is just that, spam it until it works and they egg or until the demon decides to frick off wasting your time or giving you some shit item as compensation. Side note I honestly don't recommend increasing any of the talking expertise as it's a waste. You'll just have to brute force it and keep spamming talk.

yeah, just look at your expertise list it says all the skills you can get there. If you mean chain expertise from leveling multiple expertise, those are a thing too. Look at chain expertise on the wiki, I can't explain them all.

Pretty sure you can get a Cerberus mount from the guy near the entrance of Shinjuku Babel. Mounts are cool but I never really used them much since the rings wear down over time (durability). Also some of them are a bit tricky to get.

get speed orbs and equips with movement speed increase or fast travel with threads.

trade to the ghosts of the past (or the yagiya in the cathedral, i believe they were changing it to that but not sure if they implemented that already) for MF, MF buys useful rental items like threads and speed orbs. Check the shop button on the lower right.
Reports can also be used to increase expertise at thoth, a nice fast way to level expertise up to a certain point.

I remember back when I played on Re:Imagine I had a friend fuse Lilith's soul stone skill on a talisman I had. The skill was called Whisper of Temptation and it basically gave you a near insta-capture talk skill. Also yeah they did take Ghost of the Past out and he's replaced with the Yagiya.
No problem. Also fun fact Moon Fragments are changed from what used to be called Comp Points. I don't think the devs ever explained why they changed Ghost of the Past to the Yagiya and Comp Points to Moon Fragments but I have a feeling it was because Comp Points was also referred to as CP.

Early on just set the talk skill on your hotbar and spam that. Don't bother with threaten or taunt. Also don't bother leveling the expertise for demon capturing skills. There's better ways to get demons early on that I wouldn't waste my time trying to capture field or dungeon demons. If you got the broken IC chips from Suginami dungeon chests or mob drops, take those to the Virtual Girl in the Virtual Room in Home 3. She'll convert those chips to hacked chips and then you go to the newbie demon buster NPC and use those chips to enter an instance where you kill some demons. You get rewarded with an item that you give the newbie demon buster and she gives you a random demon from a pool of six demons. There's so many other ways of getting demons but I'd rather explain that when we play the full game.

At the start you're gonna be walking but you can get items that boost your walk speed or an item that just straight up lets you teleport to pretty much everywhere.

You can turn those in to the Thoth NPC in Home 3 and he can give you exp in some expertise. Or you can trade them into the Yagiya NPC near dungeon entrances or the cathedral for Moon Fragments (MF). You can use the MF in the COMP shop (the shopping cart in the bottom right of your screen) for very useful items like the speed boost and teleport items I mentioned, among other things.
i just want a server balanced for a solo playthrough because am fricking sick of getting raped in all the previous servers due to the lack of players to team up with, and most of the time the ones you find are +70 lvl players teaming with them makes the game boring af
Maybe try the servers and check communities before you start a crazy grind.
I play on one of the servers and I find it balanced for me. But then, I also have friends there who are always stepping in when I would need urgent help.

if you're looking to be a healbawd type you're best off also being a buffbawd as well (enhancer) and a demon user since your demons can easily compliment that playstyle.
Imagine offers a pretty huge variety of builds, even moreso on New Moon with a variety of nice balance changes.

Actually I might be wrong it could've been 10 points by 20 reports on RE, I genuinely can't remember. If so then New Moon did nerf the Moon Fragment payout but if we can still farm Shibuya Quartz we can fairly easily get all we need from the comp shop.

You're probably thinking of the fact that New Moon removed Ghost of the Past which told you where the daily dungeon was. They only removed him to switch comp points to moon fragments though. As far as I know there's still a daily dungeon but who or what tells you where it is I don't know.

How important are your base attributes, the ones you actually put points into? I want to use magic damage and I'm wondering how important it is to get some INT for the mp/mp recovery. The guides reference some insane gear, like giving you -50% mp cost or +300% mp recovery, so it's possible your base stats don't really matter and gear is more important.
I mean your INT specifically increases maximum MP and regeneration among other things so yeah attributes are very important. You get attribute points just for levelling up so I don't see why you just leave them unspent. Also if you level a synthesizer or have a synthesizer friend who knows what they're doing, they can replace the -50% MP cost stat with a good stat from another piece of gear.
Also not saying the -50% MP stat isn't good, but if you have a piece of gear with stats that just revolve around less MP cost or recovery you might want to replace one with a damage stat.

I don't know honestly. When I played the game I built my attributes around what you should for a melee but the gear I had was a mix of stats and gear skills.

It seems like most attacks knockback, especially magic. Will that annoy people in groups? I used to play Mabinogi and Phantasy Star and if you knocked back a mob the wrong way you'd ruin others combo so they'd get annoyed.
I know you can debuff an enemy to null knockback, but in general if I go magic can I just let it fly or do I have to be careful about where/when I'm knocking back?
It can be a little annoying when you're a melee and you run after a mob but your gunner or magic friend is behind you and they hit the mob you're targeting and it gets knockback further away from you. It's not really a big issue and no one complains about it. It's actually a good thing against some enemies and bosses because it can cancel their skill casts.

To clarify, RE had been up for like 4 years before all this and Atlus never was gonna send them a cease & desist. They just shut down out of fear. On top of that a NM dev spoke to Atlus lawyers and were assured no legal action would be taken against them.

Their discord has about 1.5k members with over 700 online right now. I'd estimate around 500 or so logins throughout the launch day. It could go either way. I'd be impressed if there wasn't at least a few connection issues.

Figured I'd go over a fairly simple starter guide. Anyone else who played the game before feel free to add useful information onto this post. First of all use this wiki as it's the better and updated with New Moon information.

Highly recommend you have it open in a different tab while playing the game.

>To get the material tank (very important for extra inventory space) go to Home 3 Camp in Suginami and do the Understanding Plasma quest. Then after that do the quest Extract the Aluminum. Finishing this quest will get you the material tank which allows you to store a lot of different resources into giving you extra space in your inventory.
>When you get a box and card drop (example: Jack in the Box and Jack Card) you can item mix those and receive a chest to open that can contain some valuable items
>Generally when you have an item drop and you don't know what it's used for look it up in the wiki, don't just immediately throw it away as it could be useful
Nta, but if you get golden snowflakes as a drop, do NOT consume them. You can trade them at Saien in Shinjuku Docks for useful items such as epitaphs that you can slot on demons for different passives, and a demon PG that gives you a demon that can boost your PC's Limit Break damage.

>Save your DCM drops. If you have the demon summoned that your DCM corresponds to, you can register that demon in the demonic compendium. There are good rewards for filling your compendium and depending on the DCM it can sell for a good amount of macca in vendors.
Yeah I forgot what those golden snowflakes were called but definitely save those and don't consume them.
When you get enough macca (I think it costs like 1k) you should put down a vendor ASAP because there'd be so many other players in the game and they'd take up all the vendor spots in Home 3. Doesn't matter if you nothing to sell right away as the vendors stay up for 24 hours. The DCMs are definitely good early profit because people will buy them no matter what. Also demon melons are just as if not better for profit and you can get those dropped everywhere.

You have to get demon force points and the way to farm those was run dungeons in WILDCAT mode. Erosion Hex for example is 50k points.
Oh damn, you can get some nice stuff here. Erosion has a modifier of 50, this version has +100% power so that gives it the same modifier as a standard Bufu. Was it shredding things because of the ailments it was putting on things or is 100 modifier actually ok damage? The new final tier destruct spell has 700 mod iirc.
+100% damage modifier considering the specific demon you build with it. Like a demon with a high magic stat. Nyarlathotep's tarot gives it a +3% damage buff and its soul stone a +20% spell damage. That's not even counting whatever epitaphs you have on them.

There are already 2 Imagine private servers and this one offers nothing new. Black frost has the most content and the biggest dev team, including everything new moon has to offer. Theres also new order with their own custom content.

If I want to use magic, what are my options besides destruction? Curse/Support seems pretty weak for offense and crusading fist is melee/spell hybrid. Is there something I'm overlooking like using an equip spell as the focal point of my build? I've never played before and all the different ways to get extra skills like Diaspora are a bit confusing.

If I remember you can buy an attributes resetting item in the clinic. For expertise I don't specifically remember the best way to get those items, but I do remember they can drop from DESTINY.

Buffing is more sought after than healing, a lot of people splash points into buffs so if you want to build into a niche you want to max whatever expertise you have your eye on. Like Support Magic at max has Luster Candy, most people won't casually max that one out unless they're a full support.

It's all tab target so you can in theory, I've never tried it though. It doesn't have a clean palette swap system like FFXIV if that's what you mean.
I am going to do a hex/support magic build and I will force it to be viable no matter what. cotw was a fun spell, and the support magic buffs look fun.

Sadly, pvp is absolutely broken and it doesn't take much to be unstoppable in there.
It just doesn't have great rewards that make it worth doing.
It goes beyond that. Not only the rewards suck compared to what else is available in the game.
Then you have the fact you can reach 200% damage reduction very easily, and at that point it's basically whoever spams support-based skills first wins.
Ailments (most of them,at least) are also very easily nulled so you can forget using them.
It needs a complete rework.
They talked about the possibility of adding an entire PvP zone. I wouldn't mind seeing 1v1 duels if they can find a way to make them balanced, like not have everyone repelling each other.

Yeah you're gonna have to go in the discord and download the updater zip in the tutorial. Extract that folder and take the contents inside of it and drop it in the New Moon folder and it should replace some files. Then launch New Moon through ImagineUpdate.

Reading some of this but I'm still not 100% sure on everything. I did learn I need to go manually turn some of these Expertise options on, and I think for simplicity's sake with this blind run I'll just try and go for a melee DPS setup.

If you want to make an SI it will have to be an alt for sure. For synth, on Re with enough expertise I was able to fit it onto my shotmage build and be a hybrid mage/synther. I'm sure as long as you have enough extra expertise later on you'll be able to fit some crafting expertises on your main if you really really want to, but crafting should not be your main focus.

You get x5 Ariadne's Thread from an early Act. Those let you teleport anywhere in the game. Since you probably didn't get the 7 day rental version Ariadne by playing the beta then you'd have to farm MF to get one in the comp shop.

Windy mentioned upgrades in a few days. He also mentioned he doesn't know what he's doing which isn't a good sign for things. But as long as it gets resolved soon I won't criticize too much as I know jack shit about server stuff myself and the player turnout was much more than expected.
I'm not gonna hold it against him but I can't help but wonder if he knew this was gonna happen and knowing he couldn't really do anything but still let the server go live anyways. Even on the livestream he was looking for volunteers to work on the server.

The simple explanation for the stability issues is the way the game has been programmed. Hardware is important and is likely one of his bottlenecks but things don't just work automatically, you have to direct the traffic properly with programming, if the project was open source I could take a quick look but currently I have no idea how he's decided to do things. It could be a simple fix or he might have to redesign the entire way he does things.
Most likely people will get tired or either the game or the crashes and leave, resulting in a stable connection for those who stayed.

You can get weapon drops too but they're a little more rare. I'd suggest looking at play vendors and see if they sell good weapons than buy weapons from NPC shops.

all you do is walk around and hit that button endgame to farm the same dungeons for hours with your brain turned off because its so long range
Stack the shot and affinity(nerve/myst depending hex you use) boosts and nakano unbound passives and it will be stronk
Early on its kinda weak but +damage values come endgame can get so absurd that that shitty damage reaches the damage cap and at that point the area coverage makes it stronger than everything.

the new moon devs are planning on rewriting the dll for comphack to make their own version of it that will allow them to advertise imagine as if they're the ones continuing the project and remove the comp_hack crecitd. they're also going to be opening donations with no limit under the guise of server costs to start monetizing the game without actually saying they are. the website will feature options for direct paypal donations or crypto wallet transactions. don't ask how i know this, but shit is going to go down again because one of their devs has been trying to get info from the new order developers on how to do exactly what I've described, and there's already a whistle-blower planning to go public.

What is a good chain expertise to pair with MB? Sharpshooter works, but I feel like it won't scale hard enough unless I have intense break gear.
If you max out Magic Bullet you can't afford anything else until much later. At max level, with all the story done you have 32k points to spend. Maxing out MB alone costs you 34k. You can get more points later but you'll know by then what your build needs.

With what little I know of the game, that should be possible. It's essentially what I'm doing right now, but I haven't played much with all the crashes going on.
