suggested and gave him the strongest "low accuracy, always crits" single target physical attack I had access to and Safeguard. He straight up deletes random encounters, is great for when I encounter the rare groups of 4 mitamas, and still has relevance against bosses.
Re-fuse. The stats and levels you get are insane for less effort than farming incenses.

How strong do i need to be for satan on CoV ? Sitting at lvl 95, with 5-6 well built demons. All quest done outside killing shiva (next in list)
Everyone with normal an and high plemora with their unique skills, affinities maxed, a shitload of incense on them etc etc. Example odin has 150 str 120 vitality etc
Most boss fights where pretty straightforward 1-2 turn affairs.
Paraselene blur has the highest base damage but you need to dedicate alot of skill slots to get the most out of it which means you have few slots to work with for resists/abyssal mask/enduring soul/ pleromas/etc.
Lunar Hurricane needs a shitload of agility to outpace Murakumo but if you're at 999 agility I think it beats out everything
Heavenly Ikuyumi is the best if you're doing a magic build
Murakumo is still the go to turn your brain off press the guaranteed crit button build

for an example, the new skills work well with omnipotent succession. murakumo doesn't because you need an additional skill to make it critical.
With omnipotent succession, every new skill seems more promising
In terms of actual optimal MC builds you probably have to go support because you cannot ever hope to outperform arahabaki's innate and granting a demon charged figment slash at half press turn cost or zero if you activate strategize.
But I bet straight up figment slash MC outperforms all of the builds mentioned.
If you want to do something actually not conventional you would have to do a build like one of the multi hit moves like thallasic calamity, combine it with omagotoki dance and pandemic feast so you can get 9 hits during a burst turn. Is it better than figment slash or support build? Probably not but it sounds fun in my head.
With Arahabaki, you can do
Demon 1 -> Charge
Demon 2 -> Figment Slash
That's 300*1.8*1.5 = 810 base damage

You're correct but phys still deals the most damage due to all the multipliers and critical zealot. It's also why arahabaki should have access to charge or charge gems since charge is 1.8x and impaler is 1.3x. There's only like two bosses in this game that resist phys and impaler is needed otherwise charge is superior.
This also calls a question if maybe having Four Oni passive with increased charge effect worth it over the current strategy of using gogmagog's bonus that increases crit damage based on amount of weaknesses in your party and with arahabaki you'll have lots of these.

I'm pretty sure in Vengeance canon he is brainwashed by Mastema when he gives him power. Mastema talks about how he'd remove all his doubts and such and then gives him power. You can see some npcs commenting on Dazai suddenly playing an important role in beating the Demon King troops and next time you see him he's watching the Tiamat explosion, then already killing Yuzuru and laughing about it.

The save before you fight the final boss or somewhere like that. You have those two save copy, save 1 and save 2. Beat save 1. After you beat save 1 and made a Clear save, load save 2 and do the satan questline

I have no idea how the game is supposed to get easier later when quest bosses and normal bosses have 10 times my hp and deal my hp in damage even when they deal resisted damage. Am i missing something? I am lvl 41 and i am currently at the dog fight in world 2
Are you using lower level demons?
You're supposed to be utilizing element immunities to cuck the boss out of its turns. For harder hitting bosses buffs are a must.
I realize i didn't say that i have played SMT before and i know the whole shebang of buffing,debuffing enemies and using affinities. It just feels like affinities don't matter. Like earlier when i was fighting Loki i was using his weakness atk on medium and even with the crit/weak bonus it still took me a long ass time to kill him. Also a single maga infused aoe atk can actually destroy a team with neutral affinities or even resisted. I do not remember 4 being this punishing.
You can always guard before a magatsuhi move and will prevent criticals.
You can bring someone with Element block move.
You can overheal the turn before to have mor emax hp
You can always take the ez mode way out and use dampners
For the dog fight you have to have someone with NULL ice and NULL light because the guy will just keep spamming Ice and light shards non stop.
As for the dog, you can always use taunt.

I wish you got more out of the humans/aogami in the demon haunts. There's a lot of we need to do the things, while your random demons can comment on all sorts including what is currently going on.
Only unfortunate part is the affinities. Early demons have pretty bad affinities, so you'll probably only be nulling the thing you patch up with a skill the one other type they do innately.

Dang. I've been pretty completionist for my first vengeance playthrough and I'm clearing out the last abcess in Taito at 43 hours in. What do you spend all your time doing?
I get I'm taking it slow, doing every quest, talking to every npc, fusing all the time. But even then the game slows me down, some of the areas are dense and on hard you really need to prepare for each encounter.
I just finished the 2nd area and just fused Alice. I was forced to take a break now because I played for like 12 hours yesterday and forgot to charge my controller overnight.
I got sick, just beat pointy lady in area 2 but that was weeks ago. Hard mode has been a very slow crawl regardless. It's not even the bosses, doing all the side quests and exploring a bit more than usual is really slowing me down.

Tiamat was a really fun fight but Tehom feels like total bullshit. She puts all my demons to sleep and then one shots them all with her magatsuhi skill before I can get buffs/debuffs back up.
I might turn on the cheat dlc and level all my guys to 99. Otherwise I would have to completely rebuild my Beano for the fight and I kinda just want to be done with the playthrough at this point.

What the frick were the thinking with the hp bar on this thing? My estimate is that it has like 150k-200k hp which is absurd that fight took a fricking eternity.
That's the main thing dissuading me from trying to fight it legit. Each attempt could take up to 30 minutes and it could all be ended by the wrong demon being put to sleep at the wrong time.
Being put to sleep should really be your last concern in this fight but if it is just put someone who nulls sleep on slot 1 and give them me patra or spam amrita shower. I don't really understand how the gimmick works since I just completely ignored it but I think the fight works like this.
The boss starts with affinities neutral phys weak to everything else. If you hit a weakness on the next turn the boss will spam that element and as soon your turn starts said weakness will turn into a drain. After enough turns have passed or enough damage has dealt the boss charges magatsuhi skill that deals huge almighty damage to entire party, for my party it was about 500 damage but that will vary due to your team vitality stat. Also their affinities reset to all weaknesses again.
I think if you have a demon with taunt and makarakarn you can just make the boss lose its turn each time you strike one weakness, you don't even need to be dealing good damage with the elemental attack just throw a fricking stone at it and then go to town with phys attacks.
So the strategy that I think would work best is null sleep demon on slot 1, two physical attackers, one person with taunt and makarakarn and some sort of way to deal with magatsuhi turn, either overheal, kannabil veil, shield of god, guard on everyone or I dunno some sort of way to decrease incoming damage don't rely on endure the fight is far too long for that.
Either way the fight's kind of a mess and it'll take a long time regardless of strategy.
Alright I'll try to rework my team a few more times before I resort to cheats. Just seeing how little that health bar moved with each attack was really demoralizing.

parralel. You can play it standalone and it's a bit better than the base version, but part of the fun is seeing the story change because an autist is following you around. Universe 1 and 2 are kinda intertwined since you can carry over your shit from a story to another and a superboss is avalaible only in 1 path with an item found in the other path.
I used to think SMT fans were massive contrarians for how they turned their nose up at Persona cuase Persona gameplay alone is not enough to carry the full game so the social stuff was what was needed to break up the pacing. But god damn was I wrong. The combat in SMTVV has so much more depth and fun than any Persona game it's not even close. I could play through this game 5 times easy. Legit might be the best turn based JRPG I've played in over a decade.
I like using everyone but Naamah but that's because every prior game has trained me to not use ailments.That being said if I was thinking with my dick I would frick every single one of them besides Eisheth.
I get ailments are supposed to be good now but I still basically refuse to use them unless they have some good secondary effect like toxic spray. Idk I'd rather just take guaranteed damage than rely on status effects.
Ailments are great for random encounters. In SMT V if you fight demons with a higher level than you, you get a shit ton more exp than usual. My strat for both base V and VV is fight a group if stronger demons, put most of them to sleep, and focus on one of the demons. It always works and is always fun. Naamah is my favorite Qadistu for this reason, aside from being a b***h. Etrian Odyssey, which the director of SMT V is known from, was my red-pill for ailment teams.
Note this also works on Godborne , something tells this will be meta to get thru that mode

Another route would also giving him an aoe spell that hit weaknesses of the enemies in that area.
And don't put him in the first slot if you're going to critical aura, you'll waste a turn.

How crazy do your stats need to be to kill 2nd area Mitama with piercing/almighty damage on Hard? I can't even do half it's HP without hitting weakness.
I don't want to have to Spyglass them every time though it's really slow. Especially the groups of 4 it takes forever.
Just being able to Megidoloan spam the groups of 4 would save a lot of time.
I can only say that using megidola on level 60 tao will deal barely enough damage to kill 1st area mitamas since these resist almighty so you will certainly have to use impaler or some sort of pierce source to do that reliably going further.
Alice and Moh Shuvuu are unironically the best navigators because they have increased stat booster drops, which is the best thing to pull anyways. Devs rewarded the e-girlchads

the original game only had these navigators, there has yet to be a list with each navigator's chances, But I think a few of them in-game tell you what they do >Decarabia finds gems >Ippon-Datara finds more enemies (which could include mitamas)
there was one that found vendor items more often, can't remember who....
Sukuna-Hikona finds a lot of relics, but I don't think he was explicitly stated to do so. There might be one that finds them more often, but I didn't try them all out yet. Mermaid feels identical to Amanozako to me, and Nahobeeho just seems to find everything without any particular bias.
I did notice that Alice and Nahobeeho found Aogami Essences very rarely, but I can't be sure they didn't come from a fixed location, or if that's something anyone could do at a low percentage and I just happened to be using those two at the time.

If your party is at all optimized, you'll have ways of guaranteeing at least six press turns every round whether you use Omagatoki or not. Some of the special Magatsuhi skills are a lot more useful. Zeus and Demeter's heals your party over your maximum, and Konohana Sakuya and Oyamatsumi restore your HP, SP, and maxes out all your stats. Don't sleep on them.

You don't remake your party, you just swap it around.
You do need to keep it updated at all times though.
You need at least 2 demons that can hit a weakness to guarantee 8 turns.

Man, frick whoever told me to do CoC before Vengeance. It is just a straight upgrade to the story, but 70% of the lines are exactly the same. There were already three instances of “oh I have seen this cutscene already, skip” only for the scene to end completely differently, making me reload the save. So now I have to reread every single line of dialog that I have already read just a few days ago

His problem is just that there are better options in the end game. He's fine to have in the roster though, he was one of the many demons I used against Demifiend in the base version of the game
vanilla DLC is now integrated and without level scaling you can get them really early, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a strategy to beat cleo at like level 30 and get a level 60 demon in your party

Someone probably dropping asset from other games and putting them in VV. There are lots of unused demon slots and he is filling those slots out. I wouldn't be surprise if those unused slots are meant for DLC demons in the future
I had 8 and I used total of 5 chakra drops because I'm far from the recovery alter just to fight leanan sidhe for apsaras quest and I know chakra drops are not common early on since you can't buy them. did I waste them?

The guaranteed partner spots never respawn, the guaranteed mitamas on overworld will respawn after some time but I'm not exactly sure how long and kushis have the lowest respawn chance, sometimes not even entire game worth of time was not enough to respawn.
nuke the snake, ignore rest of adds, bring a phys repel demon, use murakumo or heavenly ikuyumi if your a magicgay.
zeus helped me a lot with his passive and skill, he always critted.

it's funny when bosses have so many abilities they don't fit in the spyglass menu, I believe this guy has every flavor of dracostrikes that simply does not fit into the 8 base skill slots
But Critical Aura doesn't boost damage, and I have enough Luck to get crits consistently. On top of that, the Beast I use for Desperation strats is Glass Him Labrador, making my crits even more likely. Is this just to make sure it hits against particularly dodgy enemies?
Moreover, what actually counts as an "active effect" for Masakado's Scarlet Blade innate? Do buffs and Omagatokis like Desperation or Savage count as active effects, or is it the boosts like Charge and even barriers like Makarakarn?
I have Murderous Glee and it seems to work just fine, and I don't miss either unless I'm trying to hit +2 acc/eva from -2 acc/eva or something. I don't think Critical Aura's gonna be that worth it if Masakado's also critting pretty hard and frequently unless I just have Arahabaki with me at all times or something, then I could drop Murderous Glee from both.
If you're running Crit Zealot, you want to absolutely guarantee crits. Your luck is definitely not high enough to consistently crit against endgame bosses, and I don't know what Arahabaki even has to do with this.

Affable Hospitality, meaning both Beano and Masakado and whoever else would be in the party gets any boost he gives to himself, but I know that's risky unless I decide to put Repel Fire/Ice/Elec/Force on him or something. I only have to deal with Kiou Sword Masakado and Satan outside of Godborn stuff. I'll see about Critical Aura but Glasya does help considerably with crits.
How does overwriting an old demon with a new one work with the Demon Haunt discussions and bonus stats?
Does it just reset completely and I can redo their talks again?
In making Anahita I also kindof? fixed Mermaid too.
Do I just give her a ton of gifts to try and get her to forgive me back the stats her old form had earned?

Well considering his stats he's already not fit for late, i jsut really like force and spears so it was the perfect solution to finally replace odin , who i use every time. Sadly, no go
I think my favorite part about the Zeus/Odin fight was Zeus attacking my physical absorbing Nahobino with a physical attack consecutively until I killed Odin from full HP to zero.
Considering Zeus runs away from the fight my headcanon is that he did it on purpose.
None of the Norse guys get any Magatsuhi skills either, do they? Idun and Loki are both good mid-game demons, but it's weird how much the Scandinavians get shafted in favor of the Greeks and the Celts in this game.
Zeus also has a nice innate it seems. But I found that Odin synergized well with Dakini's Critical Melody when I was going for a three-turn kill on Demi-fiend at least, since he's Phys-oriented and Critical Melody boosts ally Phys crit damage by 1.1x. It was enough to eke out a win when I was struggling to land enough crits with Desperation, but I probably should have used Glasya-Labolas instead of Cerberus.
The dodging is only really good against those low accuracy physical attacks some bosses use. Even with +2 dodge and -2 accuracy bosses still land hits pretty reliably.
Is there a guide for exactly which choices go into law/chaos? I guess the side quests fricked me over in my Law run so I got the chaos ending but I really want the law ending.
When given a dialog choice, top option is always Law, bottom option is always Chaos. Not every choice actually shifts your alignment, though. Nodding is not considered a chaotic option, for instance.

The nice thing about random skills is that if there's one or two enemies, you'll probably hit them multiple times. The downside is that if only one enemy among four is weak to an element, the game will inevitably frick you over and make you hit every enemy but the one you want.

Dormina is good if you struggle with normal fights so you can pick off enemies one by one.
It can also disable a boss IF you manage to land it.
Get someone like moonman and you can even hit stuff that is sleeping
Help me out Ganker, I'm loving this game and just got to 2nd region where I need to rescue students. I'm on lvl 26 but still not really making too much use of essences. On medium not having too much difficulty atm, should I be min maxxing more? I'm currently just trying to fuse as much as possible to fill out compendium. I guess I should be fusing, leveling up and continuously fusing demons to carry over stats and snowball that way, right? I'm kind of new to the series
You can do whatever you want really, my strategy for the game is to not fuse or use essences until I hit a boss or some sort of wall that seems impossible and then use up my resources until I can clear it, if resources were used to beat a boss or a quest they were certainly not wasted.
I see, I guess I've been wondering if there is a specific way I should be playing but the game does seem to be fairly free flow with how you can play so that makes sense.
If you're on normal you don't really have to worry about anything tbh except staying on level with the enemies.
Essences are used primarily to alter you own resistances. Then to give you access to moves without inheritance through fusion.
All the aogami essences respawn so you can freely uses those. You can also buy a lot of essences later.
Are there more quests that require a certain demon in your stock to obtain? There's the rabbit ones obviously but I mean like the one that needs Anahita for example.

Same, been pausing to try out the elden ring DLC a bit but aside from being beautiful (when it isn't trying to be super dark and the lantern can't light dick squat) it's just not that great. Gunna focus on SMTfivengeance some more.
The ones that ask for a specific demon do. The ones that just ask for certain races don't. And you only need one of them in your active party- the rest can just be in your stock.
but once you get all the Magastuhi-related Miracles it's not really necessary. The only unique skill I don't think is very good for him is the one that reduces party damage. Most of the time you can predict what kind of move the enemy will use and pop a dampener, and if not, then you've just prevented yourself from guarding and made it possible for the enemy to crit you into oblivion anyway.
I did find that Magatsuhi Skills actually cost a little more now even with all Miracles and Nahobeeho in my party, so maybe it is still worth using at that point. I was attempting this strategy for a 2-turn Demi-fiend kill, and me using Impaler's Glory lowered the Gauge further than in the video, and I wasn't able to refill the gauge completely when Nuwa died. Not even using Impaler's Glory first THEN having Nuwa use Sacrifice of Clay helped.

Then we have Team Maniax, which is made up of SMT staff and Etrian Odyssey staff. They do the rest.
There was another team that just did Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Soul Hackers 2 but some of their members worked on SMT VV, so they likely got disbanded quietly.
You can fight him at any point, but if you're in Canon of Creation and you want the True Neutral ending, you need to beat him and finish the Khonsu quest before entering Empyrean.

Dead Kagutsuchi. It's a Nocturne callback. I think the implication is that this version of Tokyo was about to enter a Conception but they failed for whatever reason (possibly because Demi-Fiend killed the one in his timeline and threw off the system) and that started a free-for-all leading to Armageddon.

Something I noticed is that one Miman in the Shinjuku area mentions that everything started at a hospital just over the road. Really close by is a hospital that has similarities to the one in Nocturne. Wish I took a screenshot of it but it's just down the hill after you meet Mastema.

Yeah around that level you should have access to safeguard so you can swap him over to the Figment Slash family of skills, that's where he really shines thanks to his absurd AGI growth
I replaced it with Yasubame Shot once I got it on an Essence. Weak Physical to all, but, it pierces and always crits. Also did what
suggested and gave him the strongest "low accuracy, always crits" single target physical attack I had access to and Safeguard. He straight up deletes random encounters, is great for when I encounter the rare groups of 4 mitamas, and still has relevance against bosses.

Paraselene Blur
What's highest DPS and most consistent set up?
Paraselene blur has the highest base damage but you need to dedicate alot of skill slots to get the most out of it which means you have few slots to work with for resists/abyssal mask/enduring soul/ pleromas/etc.
Lunar Hurricane needs a shitload of agility to outpace Murakumo but if you're at 999 agility I think it beats out everything
Heavenly Ikuyumi is the best if you're doing a magic build
Murakumo is still the go to turn your brain off press the guaranteed crit button build

for an example, the new skills work well with omnipotent succession. murakumo doesn't because you need an additional skill to make it critical.
With omnipotent succession, every new skill seems more promising
In terms of actual optimal MC builds you probably have to go support because you cannot ever hope to outperform arahabaki's innate and granting a demon charged figment slash at half press turn cost or zero if you activate strategize.
But I bet straight up figment slash MC outperforms all of the builds mentioned.
If you want to do something actually not conventional you would have to do a build like one of the multi hit moves like thallasic calamity, combine it with omagotoki dance and pandemic feast so you can get 9 hits during a burst turn. Is it better than figment slash or support build? Probably not but it sounds fun in my head.

You're correct but phys still deals the most damage due to all the multipliers and critical zealot. It's also why arahabaki should have access to charge or charge gems since charge is 1.8x and impaler is 1.3x. There's only like two bosses in this game that resist phys and impaler is needed otherwise charge is superior.
This also calls a question if maybe having Four Oni passive with increased charge effect worth it over the current strategy of using gogmagog's bonus that increases crit damage based on amount of weaknesses in your party and with arahabaki you'll have lots of these.
Well i was unaware that animus got nerfed so much,( tho it did seem much weaker) guess i'm going charge on my odin. Also side note i feel like a magic based nahobean would be good. You get the tsukuyomi severe piercer aoe to delete trash and resists, and thallassic with pandemonic feast would be fantastic for single target.

I'm pretty sure in Vengeance canon he is brainwashed by Mastema when he gives him power. Mastema talks about how he'd remove all his doubts and such and then gives him power. You can see some npcs commenting on Dazai suddenly playing an important role in beating the Demon King troops and next time you see him he's watching the Tiamat explosion, then already killing Yuzuru and laughing about it.

Beat True Neutral on Creation, the get a late game quest from Mastema on any Vengeance Route. Fight the new Superboss, then you get Godborne mode. So you get this in your third run if you started with Creation and your fourth If you started with vengeance (like most players).

which I highly recommend you unlock it and all miracle you haven't unlock yet. Then beat the game in that file so you can choose Godborn. In Godborn, you get to buy upgrades.

Are you using lower level demons?
You're supposed to be utilizing element immunities to cuck the boss out of its turns. For harder hitting bosses buffs are a must.
I realize i didn't say that i have played SMT before and i know the whole shebang of buffing,debuffing enemies and using affinities. It just feels like affinities don't matter. Like earlier when i was fighting Loki i was using his weakness atk on medium and even with the crit/weak bonus it still took me a long ass time to kill him. Also a single maga infused aoe atk can actually destroy a team with neutral affinities or even resisted. I do not remember 4 being this punishing.
You can always guard before a magatsuhi move and will prevent criticals.
You can bring someone with Element block move.
You can overheal the turn before to have mor emax hp
You can always take the ez mode way out and use dampners

For the dog fight you have to have someone with NULL ice and NULL light because the guy will just keep spamming Ice and light shards non stop.
As for the dog, you can always use taunt.

I'm 60 hours in just started the dungeon at the end of the 3rd area. You're not alone.
Dang. I've been pretty completionist for my first vengeance playthrough and I'm clearing out the last abcess in Taito at 43 hours in. What do you spend all your time doing?
Fusing every single demon available, which involves a lot of running and recruiting

I get I'm taking it slow, doing every quest, talking to every npc, fusing all the time. But even then the game slows me down, some of the areas are dense and on hard you really need to prepare for each encounter.
I just finished the 2nd area and just fused Alice. I was forced to take a break now because I played for like 12 hours yesterday and forgot to charge my controller overnight.
I got sick, just beat pointy lady in area 2 but that was weeks ago. Hard mode has been a very slow crawl regardless. It's not even the bosses, doing all the side quests and exploring a bit more than usual is really slowing me down.

Tiamat was a really fun fight but Tehom feels like total bullshit. She puts all my demons to sleep and then one shots them all with her magatsuhi skill before I can get buffs/debuffs back up.
I might turn on the cheat dlc and level all my guys to 99. Otherwise I would have to completely rebuild my Beano for the fight and I kinda just want to be done with the playthrough at this point.

What the frick were the thinking with the hp bar on this thing? My estimate is that it has like 150k-200k hp which is absurd that fight took a fricking eternity.
That's the main thing dissuading me from trying to fight it legit. Each attempt could take up to 30 minutes and it could all be ended by the wrong demon being put to sleep at the wrong time.
Being put to sleep should really be your last concern in this fight but if it is just put someone who nulls sleep on slot 1 and give them me patra or spam amrita shower. I don't really understand how the gimmick works since I just completely ignored it but I think the fight works like this.
The boss starts with affinities neutral phys weak to everything else. If you hit a weakness on the next turn the boss will spam that element and as soon your turn starts said weakness will turn into a drain. After enough turns have passed or enough damage has dealt the boss charges magatsuhi skill that deals huge almighty damage to entire party, for my party it was about 500 damage but that will vary due to your team vitality stat. Also their affinities reset to all weaknesses again.
I think if you have a demon with taunt and makarakarn you can just make the boss lose its turn each time you strike one weakness, you don't even need to be dealing good damage with the elemental attack just throw a fricking stone at it and then go to town with phys attacks.
So the strategy that I think would work best is null sleep demon on slot 1, two physical attackers, one person with taunt and makarakarn and some sort of way to deal with magatsuhi turn, either overheal, kannabil veil, shield of god, guard on everyone or I dunno some sort of way to decrease incoming damage don't rely on endure the fight is far too long for that.
Either way the fight's kind of a mess and it'll take a long time regardless of strategy.
Alright I'll try to rework my team a few more times before I resort to cheats. Just seeing how little that health bar moved with each attack was really demoralizing.

parralel. You can play it standalone and it's a bit better than the base version, but part of the fun is seeing the story change because an autist is following you around. Universe 1 and 2 are kinda intertwined since you can carry over your shit from a story to another and a superboss is avalaible only in 1 path with an item found in the other path.

I used to think SMT fans were massive contrarians for how they turned their nose up at Persona cuase Persona gameplay alone is not enough to carry the full game so the social stuff was what was needed to break up the pacing. But god damn was I wrong. The combat in SMTVV has so much more depth and fun than any Persona game it's not even close. I could play through this game 5 times easy. Legit might be the best turn based JRPG I've played in over a decade.

I get ailments are supposed to be good now but I still basically refuse to use them unless they have some good secondary effect like toxic spray. Idk I'd rather just take guaranteed damage than rely on status effects.
Ailments are great for random encounters. In SMT V if you fight demons with a higher level than you, you get a shit ton more exp than usual. My strat for both base V and VV is fight a group if stronger demons, put most of them to sleep, and focus on one of the demons. It always works and is always fun. Naamah is my favorite Qadistu for this reason, aside from being a b***h. Etrian Odyssey, which the director of SMT V is known from, was my red-pill for ailment teams.
Playing ailment beano is like having a hexer on your team.
Nothing more fun than sealing a group of enemies and watching them waste their turn

And don't put him in the first slot if you're going to critical aura, you'll waste a turn.

I can only say that using megidola on level 60 tao will deal barely enough damage to kill 1st area mitamas since these resist almighty so you will certainly have to use impaler or some sort of pierce source to do that reliably going further.

Alice and Moh Shuvuu are unironically the best navigators because they have increased stat booster drops, which is the best thing to pull anyways. Devs rewarded the e-girlchads

I did notice that Alice and Nahobeeho found Aogami Essences very rarely, but I can't be sure they didn't come from a fixed location, or if that's something anyone could do at a low percentage and I just happened to be using those two at the time.

If your party is at all optimized, you'll have ways of guaranteeing at least six press turns every round whether you use Omagatoki or not. Some of the special Magatsuhi skills are a lot more useful. Zeus and Demeter's heals your party over your maximum, and Konohana Sakuya and Oyamatsumi restore your HP, SP, and maxes out all your stats. Don't sleep on them.

There were already three instances of “oh I have seen this cutscene already, skip” only for the scene to end completely differently, making me reload the save. The guaranteed partner spots never respawn, the guaranteed mitamas on overworld will respawn after some time but I'm not exactly sure how long and kushis have the lowest respawn chance, sometimes not even entire game worth of time was not enough to respawn.

But Critical Aura doesn't boost damage, and I have enough Luck to get crits consistently. On top of that, the Beast I use for Desperation strats is Glass Him Labrador, making my crits even more likely. Is this just to make sure it hits against particularly dodgy enemies?

I have Murderous Glee and it seems to work just fine, and I don't miss either unless I'm trying to hit +2 acc/eva from -2 acc/eva or something. I don't think Critical Aura's gonna be that worth it if Masakado's also critting pretty hard and frequently unless I just have Arahabaki with me at all times or something, then I could drop Murderous Glee from both.
If you're running Crit Zealot, you want to absolutely guarantee crits. Your luck is definitely not high enough to consistently crit against endgame bosses, and I don't know what Arahabaki even has to do with this.
Affable Hospitality, meaning both Beano and Masakado and whoever else would be in the party gets any boost he gives to himself, but I know that's risky unless I decide to put Repel Fire/Ice/Elec/Force on him or something. I only have to deal with Kiou Sword Masakado and Satan outside of Godborn stuff. I'll see about Critical Aura but Glasya does help considerably with crits.

Zeus also has a nice innate it seems. But I found that Odin synergized well with Dakini's Critical Melody when I was going for a three-turn kill on Demi-fiend at least, since he's Phys-oriented and Critical Melody boosts ally Phys crit damage by 1.1x. It was enough to eke out a win when I was struggling to land enough crits with Desperation, but I probably should have used Glasya-Labolas instead of Cerberus.

hard difficulty and high agility make a lot more difference, still at +2 vs -2 you can still dodge often, just not constantly like older games
The dodging is only really good against those low accuracy physical attacks some bosses use. Even with +2 dodge and -2 accuracy bosses still land hits pretty reliably.
Is there a guide for exactly which choices go into law/chaos? I guess the side quests fricked me over in my Law run so I got the chaos ending but I really want the law ending.
When given a dialog choice, top option is always Law, bottom option is always Chaos. Not every choice actually shifts your alignment, though. Nodding is not considered a chaotic option, for instance.

The nice thing about random skills is that if there's one or two enemies, you'll probably hit them multiple times. The downside is that if only one enemy among four is weak to an element, the game will inevitably frick you over and make you hit every enemy but the one you want.

You don't need both Stormcaller and Mabufu. Bufu can be useful if you want to avoid nulls or guarantee a press turn.
Dormina is good if you struggle with normal fights so you can pick off enemies one by one.
It can also disable a boss IF you manage to land it.

Help me out Ganker, I'm loving this game and just got to 2nd region where I need to rescue students. I'm on lvl 26 but still not really making too much use of essences. On medium not having too much difficulty atm, should I be min maxxing more? I'm currently just trying to fuse as much as possible to fill out compendium. I guess I should be fusing, leveling up and continuously fusing demons to carry over stats and snowball that way, right? I'm kind of new to the series
You can do whatever you want really, my strategy for the game is to not fuse or use essences until I hit a boss or some sort of wall that seems impossible and then use up my resources until I can clear it, if resources were used to beat a boss or a quest they were certainly not wasted.

If you're on normal you don't really have to worry about anything tbh except staying on level with the enemies.
Essences are used primarily to alter you own resistances. Then to give you access to moves without inheritance through fusion.
All the aogami essences respawn so you can freely uses those. You can also buy a lot of essences later.

Just replace one of the Nahobino uniques and go pick up the essence again, those things respawn basically instantly.

It's great for a while combined with shit like
but once you get all the Magastuhi-related Miracles it's not really necessary. The only unique skill I don't think is very good for him is the one that reduces party damage. Most of the time you can predict what kind of move the enemy will use and pop a dampener, and if not, then you've just prevented yourself from guarding and made it possible for the enemy to crit you into oblivion anyway.
I did find that Magatsuhi Skills actually cost a little more now even with all Miracles and Nahobeeho in my party, so maybe it is still worth using at that point. I was attempting this strategy for a 2-turn Demi-fiend kill, and me using Impaler's Glory lowered the Gauge further than in the video, and I wasn't able to refill the gauge completely when Nuwa died. Not even using Impaler's Glory first THEN having Nuwa use Sacrifice of Clay helped.

You can fight him at any point, but if you're in Canon of Creation and you want the True Neutral ending, you need to beat him and finish the Khonsu quest before entering Empyrean.

Dead Kagutsuchi. It's a Nocturne callback. I think the implication is that this version of Tokyo was about to enter a Conception but they failed for whatever reason (possibly because Demi-Fiend killed the one in his timeline and threw off the system) and that started a free-for-all leading to Armageddon.

Something I noticed is that one Miman in the Shinjuku area mentions that everything started at a hospital just over the road. Really close by is a hospital that has similarities to the one in Nocturne. Wish I took a screenshot of it but it's just down the hill after you meet Mastema.
You also revive these angels of Baal in the exact same spot of Asakusa that you kill them when Chiaki turns into Baal Avatar.
