Sins thread? Sins thread!
Have any of you played the sequel? I'm waiting for the Steam release before I try it.
Also, how the frick do you beat Visari? Legit question. I play in a group with friends and my brother is fricking unbeatable with this fricking faction in ship-to-ship combat because he spams capital ships with all this military research on them that eclipses ours early on.
I play strategy games better than him, I expand faster (TECs) and I still can't be him in a fight. What ship should I be spamming? The forums online are useless. Even pre-emptively attacking him I can't manage to cripple him enough.

The generic counter to heavy ship spam like caps are carriers with bombers.
As TEC your early and mid game should be stronger because his economy is slower. If you're rebel your titan should be a serious early threat as well.
Corvette spam? I haven't played soase in years and I doubt the new version is a spiritual successor.
>The generic counter to heavy ship spam like caps are carriers with bombers.
How the frick do you even counter strike-craft spam? I gradually build up my carrier force throughout the game and protect them very carefully, because otherwise I just get raped by the carriers of my opponent. I don't think there is a single ship type in the entire game that scales as well as carriers in the late game.
Corvette spam was counter dunno if that still holds. Just start a skirmish against AI and see
I haven't played 2 since it looked like an alpha on epic. Prolly a cash grab.
It's a pre-alpha build, devs made that clear. Vasari and Advent aren't even available. The tech tree in the last video I saw looks like utter dogshit. I think there's a small subset of ships available relative to rebellion (only 2 cap ships Kol and Akkan). It will be YEARS before it's like Rebellion and longer if the aim is to be better.
It's also on a 10 dollar discount. I think it's going for 40 on epic and the FAQ says full price on release is 50. I'll probably pick it up on steam eventually tho.
Yea imagine they will go for epic bux before while they flesh it out or at least hope. If they can at the least meet the original with mod support it'll be a buy from me.
Against Vasari offense use Kols for battles and Sova expeditions to harass where the Vasari capital ships aren't.
Against strike craft use flak frigates, how did you miss them.
If I recall right kols got a flak skill as well
Dunov also has that skill that makes strikecraft slam into the targeted ship
Faction Strength is relative to map size tbh. Vasari should always win on large maps, advent best on mid size and tec on smaller maps. As to how to beat your brother, just mass the capitol ship which gives you the instant shield regen and have a couple healing bays within contact of each other as your planetary defence with strike craft (fighters). TEC is all about rushing as rebels (meh) or twin fortress pushing. gl
Does he play Loyalist or Rebel Vasari?
While strong on their own, building a bunch of capital ships should leave him with a weaker fleet overall and Vasari ships have the worst power per cost in the game.
Don't underestimate the Marza and its level 6 ability.
And don't forget Novalith Deregulation, if you're TEC Loyalist.
Yes, hello?
Frick pirates.

PUSSY?! WHAT IS THAT
This game was neat but I never got the level of love it received. The AI was dogshit and couldnt provide any challenge even on the highest difficulty. Then the multiplayer was full of people wanted to turtle and play 4x instead of rts so the match could never end. The whole thing was pretty unplayable once you really got into it.
It is a fricking 4x, you tard.
I entirely removed the sequel out of my mind once I heard it's on epic.
Ditto. No Steam = no buy.
My brother would always ask to play this game with me. But I was too little and my IQ wasn't high enough to understand Star Wars EAW, so Sins was too much for me
I should check it out though, thanks for reminding me OP
I like to think she's cute underneath that mask.
Anon, that's a drone. From their fighters.
I'm pretty sure that's a drone controller.

I really liked this game as a kid (I can't believe it's been so long bros...) but replaying it now I kind of feel like it's actually kinda an inch deep
The pirates are totally broken so I have to turn them off because otherwise I just win the game by spamming pirate raids lol
Otherwise I just play TEC and spam the everloving frick out of the javelis missile ships and the tanky cruisers and win
Can't really keep my attention for that reason
To create a challenge in this game it's the same as in all other rts games, you either up the ai difficulty and player count and have them be on teams against you or you play online with skilled people.
After a while every match starts to play the same for me and I get burnt out
>match starts
>land grab as many planets you can
>build up infrastructure and fleets
>conquer enemy worlds
Is there any way to mix it up? Whats the meta to these games? I feel like im bad but the way I play gets wins.
I've done 2v2v2v2v2 on hard difficulty many times. Hard difficulty AI is at my level of skill. If I let my ally die, I would be up against a lot of stuff. You can also ping the ally AI for help if you need it and they will come. They are long games, Usually I never finish them at all, just like the avarage 4x player. These kind of big matches are dynamic for me when I play. Lots of big battles happen where I don't just steamroll enemy fleets. When I send out a fleet by myself without ally ai, sometimes I get overrun by 2 enemy ai and have to retreat.
I really like playing this way because it gives me space opera roleplay.
Good post, definitely gotta play matches like these more.
I play on falanga map 5v5 with highest diff AI.
It's take several hours until i leveled my caps and titan enough high to win.
