Somewhere along the way you developed mental illness(es).
Ascensions are a meme, why do people want to brag so much about beating a deck builder roguelite? They treat the Ascension system like ASShomosexualS players treat multiplayer ranks.
It's more about how you can't lose in low ascensions once you learn the mechanics, although A17+ are bullshit on the non-broken characters.
He gives you 3 turns to set up. He does the same thing every encounter. You have to assess whether you have enough card draw, powers, debuffs and so on to beat him if you plan on selecting an elite room.
Due to his Slow debuff he is weak to runs where you have a lot of energy and can play a lot of cards. You also need to be able to draw or create a lot of cards.
reminder that most people who played StS legitimately don't understand how the game works at all and complain that it's just "100% dependent on RNG"
i wish i was joking
If your "fun" build can't adapt to a boss it's a SHIT build.
I pretty much never lose to this boss no matter how I play, I really don't understand how your "fun" build falters so much.
How the frick do you lose to this guy? as long as you can block 70 damage per turn he will literally never hurt you. If you die to him you would have died to reptomancer anyway.
Ascensions are a meme, why do people want to brag so much about beating a deck builder roguelite? They treat the Ascension system like ASShomosexualS players treat multiplayer ranks.
What the hell do I do? Until now I’ve mostly been able to get by with a deck that relies on constant stance changing but I can barely set up most of the time.
I'm the complete opposite. When I go into act 2 and stare down an orb or snake plant after barely scraping by with her craptastic cards I want to kill myself.
Silent either dies in act 1 or ascends to godhood with an early catalyst/accuracy build. There is no in-between with her like there is with Ironchad and Defect who can both struggle their way to the top even with mediocre builds. If you consistently lose with Ironclad you are genuinely brain-damaged. Assuming about half of your floors are fights you'll get about 8 fights per act not including the boss, healing 6 hp at the end of every fight. Even if you're total shit and take HP damage every single fight on every single act Burning Blood will heal you for 144 over the course of the run. That's two full HP bars for free. Healing at the end of every fight also means you can upgrade your cards more often since you're less obligated to rest at camps.
Anyone here tried that new gwent game? I pirated it yesterday and played a bit and its a mix of slay the spire and monster train but with gwent which is pretty cool.
i tried it and i personally hate it, it's very slowpaced and every fight takes like 8 mintues of you and the ai both sloooooowly playing cards, there's no real strategy behind it either, you just play your best cards and call it a day, i steamrolled everything until i barely lost to the final boss because i fully clogged my field
You played the tutorial, you have to unlock a lot of cards, treasures, spells and stuff, also different decks and then there's the difficulty modifiers.
every boss in this game exploits a weakness you may have in your deck.
this one is just there to check if you can scale your damage fast enough and/or build defense strong enough.
Defect has a lot of high damage potential, but it usually comes from RNG. So they get a decent amount of cards that just get high base values to offset the RNG.
Nah, they both have their charms and quirks. I love both myself, very hard to pick a favorite.
Monster Train definitely mogs STS in terms of art though.
Divinity Chronicles is the most fun blatant ripoff I've played. But even it needs to exit EA and fix some balance issues before its really worth buying. It has some fairly major performance issues (like the freeze in this webm).
Monster Train is okay but I don't really like the tree floors mechanic. More fun to just play as 1 dude or group of dudes v 1 dude or group of dudes.
Roguebook I only played the demo of and it was so hilariously israeli it made me decide against the game
Ring of pains ui is a fricking mess. Its such an ugly fricking game.
Neoverse is just too fricking easy. Every character is overpowered, the metaprogression is overpowered, the combo system is overpowered. Had some fairly cool classes conceptually or mechanically, like the functional summoner, though.
There was some game in the last next fest that was blatantly just StS but with 3D models that seemed... passable. But the demo was too limited to tell.
Oh and monster slayers just fricking sucks. Every class starts with a nearly identical deck so you spend half the run trying to make them not functionally the same class.
StS feels incredibly rigid at times and a lot of its encounters are basically just gear checks and its randomization is borderline non-existant but its also just by far the best designed game of its ilk regardless. Until you play the monk anyways, who feels a lot like the OP as frick characters in Neoverse and the like.
Not sure what ripoff's I haven't actually played yet.
THere's Phantom Rose and dimension reign but the former is far too expensive for what reviews make sound like a fundamentally flawed and unfun game to even give a chance they're wrong on and the latter just doesn't look very good.
At least StS isn't RNG fricked like pic related, if FTL 2 were ever to come out I hope they fix the RNG just slightly to make it less "hope you can get burst laser mark 2 or flak"
The issue with that game is less rng itself and more that its just incredibly poorly imbalanced. You wouldn't be wishing for X item over a, b, c, d, e, f, g and the entire rest of the alphabet if the others weren't so far inferior. The final boss hard countering boarding builds with no warning and having attacks that break the rules every other ship in the game follow (countered by specifically having invis and pretty much nothing else) heighten the issue because its basically a gear/did you kill all but 1 guy knowledge check.
The way shields work just makes most fights inherently super easy if you have high hit weapons/can get drones past their defenses (best done by shooting them with multihit weapons at which point you don't need the drone so eh so much for that)
I like to run infinite decks so a boss that completely counters that is just bullshit to me
Especially since you can lose a run to that boss having never encountered it before simply because it has a gimmick that shits on your entire build
This game really is an RNG shitfest, I think I'll just stick to playing anything else
I'm just obsessed with having the leanest deck possible with most characters
I still remebrr getting a mark deck with watcher that had less than a dozen cards
Give me StS2 with >3 player co-op >classes, cards, relics for applying buffs, pulling aggro, healing others, etc >sex in StS2 >Much MUCH more interesting events >The ability to split up from your co-op party on the map (if you wish to get specific things that isn't helpful to anyone else) >Binding of Issac/Enter the Gungeon tier alt acts >Like 7 acts with 3 bad ass post game, post post game, post post post game acts after you beat the game's 'final' boss over and over. >Much more enemy move variance and systems
I don't like Slay because it feels like if you get certain combos you just Auto Win to the point that playing the rest of the run feels like a chore. Binding of Isaac is like this too. Roguelikes need to be balanced
So start playing the actual game which is very balanced and where you still need a baseline level of skill to win even if you get that kind of combo. (ascension 20, heart kill)
Forces you to have enough damage per turn to kill it. Decks that attack a lot breeze through it but slower-damaging decks don't.
How did Kemco shovelware surpass sts?
Somewhere along the way you developed mental illness(es).
It's more about how you can't lose in low ascensions once you learn the mechanics, although A17+ are bullshit on the non-broken characters.
That gay and the clock slug are there to force you into the meta instead of making fun decks.
Because the devs decided to add build specific bosses in the final area.
You also need to be able to draw or create a lot of cards.

i wish i was joking
>run into this guy with a fun build
>lose
>don't run into this guy with a fun build
>win
Nice 'not 100% dependent on RNG' game you got there, champ.
hes not even that hard
just play all your skills first
If your "fun" build can't adapt to a boss it's a SHIT build.
I pretty much never lose to this boss no matter how I play, I really don't understand how your "fun" build falters so much.
Meanwhile guys like jorbs have like over 50% winrate on ascension 20 runs
>50% of the time, the game is unwinnable
Shit game design
Life is a shit game then
How the frick do you lose to this guy? as long as you can block 70 damage per turn he will literally never hurt you. If you die to him you would have died to reptomancer anyway.
>as long as you can block 70 damage per turn
sorry I forgot to bring barricade
Ascensions are a meme, why do people want to brag so much about beating a deck builder roguelite? They treat the Ascension system like ASShomosexualS players treat multiplayer ranks.
>gotten up to ASC 17 on the Watcher
What the hell do I do? Until now I’ve mostly been able to get by with a deck that relies on constant stance changing but I can barely set up most of the time.
when you're not having fun any more just stop playing
>playing beyond ascension 15
Why? It's just artificial difficulty by that point.
Try a 5 card deck and absolutely steamroll everything by dealing insane damage every turn
>5
It is time.
>beat A20 with Silent
>try the other characters
>they all suck
90 hours of Silent were amazing though.
silent is fricking dogshit. i casually play a20 watcher because it's only modestly more difficult than A0 on other characters
Don't reply to me ever again, prostitute.
the silent is garbo handicap tier
silent is building around the same dexterity power cards every single run. perfect for brainlets. even ironchad has more variation.
>ironclad has more variation
>every build is just get corruption
wow so much variety
I'm the complete opposite. When I go into act 2 and stare down an orb or snake plant after barely scraping by with her craptastic cards I want to kill myself.

Anyone here tried that new gwent game? I pirated it yesterday and played a bit and its a mix of slay the spire and monster train but with gwent which is pretty cool.
Wait. It was a new game? I thought it was the old Gwent.
Its a single player roguelike in the style of slay the spire. Not nearly as good as sts but worth checking it out imo.
>love Gwent
>love StS (and most roguelites in general)
>go to pirate game
apparently my toaster laptop doesn't meet minimum requirements
how
Does that stop it from launching it at all, surely a card game is fine at low graphics and low fps
Try updating your drivers?
i tried it and i personally hate it, it's very slowpaced and every fight takes like 8 mintues of you and the ai both sloooooowly playing cards, there's no real strategy behind it either, you just play your best cards and call it a day, i steamrolled everything until i barely lost to the final boss because i fully clogged my field
You played the tutorial, you have to unlock a lot of cards, treasures, spells and stuff, also different decks and then there's the difficulty modifiers.
>want to go for a divine-focused deck
>the only divine cards that drop are Prostate
>spam seven frost orbs with 8+ focus
>a single lightning orb
psssh nothin personnel kid
>not chaining scrape into a million claws
boring
that shit don't WORK son
every boss in this game exploits a weakness you may have in your deck.
this one is just there to check if you can scale your damage fast enough and/or build defense strong enough.
>20 hours in
>beat A0 with Defect
>but still have no idea how Defect works
>also still have no idea how Watcher works
1. COLLECT POWER CARDS
2. ???
3. PROFIT!!
Defect has a lot of high damage potential, but it usually comes from RNG. So they get a decent amount of cards that just get high base values to offset the RNG.
I beat A0 with Defect first try and also don't understand how it works
post YFW (your face, when) act 3 and you have 3 (three) points of energy
>YFW (your face, when) act 3 and you have 3 (three) points of energy
>but also snecko eye
I enjoy Monster Train more. Am I just a brainlet?
Nah, they both have their charms and quirks. I love both myself, very hard to pick a favorite.
Monster Train definitely mogs STS in terms of art though.
They're definitely both great games; it's understandable why so many clones exist.
Divinity Chronicles is the most fun blatant ripoff I've played. But even it needs to exit EA and fix some balance issues before its really worth buying. It has some fairly major performance issues (like the freeze in this webm).

i like pirate outlaws, give a try to that one
I want to frick the Silent
I want to frick the Defect
I want to frick Laga-chan
I'd much rather run into this joke then the goddamn reptomancer, that b***h always pushes my shit in without fail.
about to win three times in a row with branch+corruption. frick this boring character btw.
At least StS isn't RNG fricked like pic related, if FTL 2 were ever to come out I hope they fix the RNG just slightly to make it less "hope you can get burst laser mark 2 or flak"

>tfw you only have 1 and 0 cost cards
Why would you ever pick snecko eye with that deck?
>kill heart with everyone
>get the A20, speedrun, and turn 1 boss achievements
>the rest are all gimmicky shit
I think I'm done
You did eat the donut, right?
>he didn't eat the donut
Time eater is bullshit and the reason I stopped playing this game.
The Act 2 bosses kill me more often than any of the Act 3 bosses.
I like to run infinite decks so a boss that completely counters that is just bullshit to me
Especially since you can lose a run to that boss having never encountered it before simply because it has a gimmick that shits on your entire build

sounds like you are just a moron
have a nice day Black person!!!!!!!!!!!
If you still lose to Time Eater when playing 12 cards a turn your deck is unironically shit.
Even if you run combo decks, Tim Eater is still beatable. Just pay attention to his countdown and plan around it.
It's a present for spammy decks to make up for Time Eater. Remember to save your attacks for last.

>replace charges
kej
cheaters are cute when they try to balance their cheats
you can hoard the charges and use them all after beating a boss to get whatever damn rare card you want, it's busted
>focus on powers and removal only
>can't afford the good relics when they show up
Suffering
Spend it on actual useful stuff. Weak cards can be worked around by having more card draw. You can remove and transform them in events too.
I'm just obsessed with having the leanest deck possible with most characters
I still remebrr getting a mark deck with watcher that had less than a dozen cards
>gambling chip
>tingsha
>envenom
>deadly poison
>snecko skull
>akabeko
>eviscerate
I love hybrid decks.
>play downfall
>the only time i have fun is playing snecko
why are the other characters so SHIT
I really enjoy playing the gremlins and the automaton.
Gremlins have such low fricking damage, how do you handle them?
Automaton is fricking busted though, Assembly+ will instantly halve your deck
So what are the devs up to now? Are they making a Slay the Spire 2?
Monster train unironically surpassed STS as the best deck builder.
Give me StS2 with
>3 player co-op
>classes, cards, relics for applying buffs, pulling aggro, healing others, etc
>sex in StS2
>Much MUCH more interesting events
>The ability to split up from your co-op party on the map (if you wish to get specific things that isn't helpful to anyone else)
>Binding of Issac/Enter the Gungeon tier alt acts
>Like 7 acts with 3 bad ass post game, post post game, post post post game acts after you beat the game's 'final' boss over and over.
