They could get a lot more discussion, and probably would, there are plenty of people who enjoy them. The problem is every attempt just gets raided by the spam like this by people who haven't even played them.
The Alola games are like the son that disappoints you no matter what so you eventually just stop paying mind to them altogether.
Not quite the golden child (Gen 5) or the one that ended up becoming a serial killer (Gen 8) but just the one that made themselves out to be the next golden child before influencing the serial killer to become what they are today. Alola has a few rabid fans on here willing to scapegoat all of their problems onto Gen 6 but that's about it. The general populace romanticizes the idea of Sun and Moon more than actually playing through them.
If people ever get past that, these games will probably be seen as some of the better ones in the series, but it'll take years for the genwar addicts to move on.

im playing them and fp encapsulates my feelings with the game

People are obsessed with the girls in them and like the comfy tropical setting even if other parts suck ass, I don't know what you're talking about
I'd say XY is the gen people care the least about.
OP means being passionate one way or another. XY gets a lot of hate from one subset of the board. SM has some fans and some haters but not a lot of heated discussion
started US for the first time, last time I played gen 7 was Moon back when it came out. How the player is always 🙂 and when walking sways their arms like a fricking idiot is so uncanny imo. I did like the teacher battle where she forces you to pick up a second team member since she will just spam super effective moves on your starter. Only at the beach and not too fond of the pokemon selection so far. Just using popplio with some lackey team members who tank hits when needed so far
SM and USUM are the last real Pokemon games but that doesn’t mean they’re good. Alola is a moronic theme park ride where you escort a worthless blonde invalid around for nearly the entire adventure. As soon as you get a chance to be alone, the homosexual Rotomdex immediately tells you where to go next. Soulless.
Pretty much. At the time they were the worst games in the series, but they weren't the first bad ones (Gen 6), and then even worse games came out after (Gens 8 and 9) so there's really nothing notable about them. They did introduce a large number of competitively viable Pokemon.
they're the ones i love the most actually but nobody wants to say anything good about them and everybody always says the same things (muh unskippable cutscenes etc.) so there's no point trying to have a conversation
These games could have been top tier if not for

we alolabros are the only real fans here. you don't see us on any dumb genwar bullshit because alola won the genwar of our hearts
nah the only war it won is being the worst games in the series
Based alolaboys. Even with their flaws its the best story in pokemon, best character roster, and top tier pokedex.
Pretty much this. If Gamefreak actually knew how to do a 3d game, it would easily be my favorite game.

Ultra Moon is my favorite game.
thats because you have shit taste
It's not quite old enough to be nostalgic about and not recent enough to be relevant
In a few years they will be prime shitposting bait material
I only play Ultra Sun during summer, and only on Sundays.
and only during the day.
yes they are the worst games in the series

I actually like the alola dex but the overtutorialization and railroading is fricking painful
Lillie is SHIT
