Paul Anderson's was boomer cringe kino. >le "I'm so quirky xD" humor
This is just zoomer cringe.
I'd take Jovovich Resident Evil over this hot pile of garbage
>giving older actresses modern choreography dance numbers
I mean, she looks great for a broad that's pushing 50, but this is pure cringe from a performance aspect, she's so stiff and out of sync...
>she's so stiff and out of sync...
She's being remote controlled. How is she supposed to look? It's basically the Resident Evil version of this. And considering that the infamous editor on this movie edited RE: Final Chapter, I can absolutely see a scenario where the director saw Final Chapter, looked up the editor, saw Gamer, and got the idea for the Evelyn dancing scene.
>How is she supposed to look?
She's supposed to look like she doesn't have middle age joint problems. Not hitting the choreography of your dance number doesn't translate to "being remote controlled, schizo
>She's supposed to look like she doesn't have middle age joint problems.
In this scene she's supposed to be 14 years older than the modern day scenes in the show. She's a puppet who can't walk on her own. The whole point of the scene is that she's being controlled by someone on an ipad... coincidentally a lot like the scene in GAMER where a bunch of dudes do weird, jerky dance choreography as a group of other dudes with tablets control their movements.
homie i don't give a shit about your headcanon shut the frick up nerd

Apparently basic math is "headcanon" to these morons.
She's supposed to be about 58 in that scene. How many 58 year old women have you seen dance? (Involuntarily because their body has been taken over by an abusive, sexy Asian lesbian.)
Capcom needs to get some standards and stop shilling out their ips to random Hollywood hacks looking to make a quick buck. Why is it so hard to make a film adaption of RE1 with actors who actually look like the characters ffs
Despite a few flaws here and there I actually enjoyed it. The only downside is that there's literally no horror elements. The zombies are used only for action scenes. Nothing scary.
>Despite a few flaws here and there I actually enjoyed it
You have incredibly low standards. This shit is worse than a CW show and I say that as someone who sat through most of the Arrowverse.
The VFX lead said that Netflix advised them to make the show "more tightly packed" whatever that mean, and this meant that some completed monster shots were removed. They almost removed the caterpillar late in production. It sounds like there were disagreements over the pacing of the show, especially in the first few episodes, as well as how much the show should focus on 2022 vs 2036. If they get a second season I think the show's mixture will be a lot less jarring.
I refuse to watch it, it's not RE and even people who don't like the games or know of RE outside of the Milla/Anderson movies thought that it was straight bootyhole.
>So now that the dust has settled
How has the dust settled? We haven't gotten a confirmation on whether it will be renewed for Season 2 or cancelled. This decision will have huge implications for the future of the franchise. Alice is coming back either way. >can we all agree that it was worse than the Paul Anderson movies?
Yes, it is. Those movies set a very high bar. This reboot is attempting to recapture the magic, and the success of Paul W.S. Anderson's film franchise, but they don't have Paul. It's not as good. But that doesn't mean it's without merit. This show has the potential to be a very fun, expansive take on Resident Evil with cameos from the games and the films, and the first season is quite watchable. I hope it gets renewed.
The week 2 viewer hours should be coming out today. It's still the #3 show in Anglo countries like UK, US, Australia, etc. I think it might be able to stay in the Top 10 for 3-4 weeks at least. If it racks up enough viewer hours, a renewal is certain.
Cowboy Bebop's view hours were a lot worse.
Week 1 (21,630,000 hours): https://top10.netflix.com/tv?week=2021-11-21
Week 2 (36,950,000 hours): https://top10.netflix.com/tv?week=2021-11-28
Wheras Resident Evil's first week numbers were (72,670,000 hours): https://top10.netflix.com/tv
Still waiting for the Week 2 Resident Evil numbers to drop. They drop on Tuesday, but likely American Tuesday. Also, Bebop ran way over budget after the lead actor was injured. They at one point considered replacing him with a CG double to shoot scenes because every day shooting was delayed was costing them money. It was an expensive show, and the viewer numbers/hours weren't good enough.
A vast chunk of RE was shot inside real buildings, in a real town in Cape Town. It's not like these other shows which require VFX in every scene. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a similar budget to the RE movies.
I actually know some people who think this pile of shit is good
Normies are satisfied by anything, so long as they get to consoom and point out the references
I enjoyed it. The best part was when the guy went on to take on the giant zombie spider by himself. What a way to sacrifice yourself for your family that decided to stay behind and die anyway. Death by giant zombie spider
It's okay, which means it's miles ahead of the movies already. Why is it so hard to admit the movies were always shit? This one at least is worth it for Lance alone
>Why is it so hard to admit the movies were always shit?
Because they're auteur kino with god-tier aesthetics.
There have always been people who didn't understand or appreciate the genius of Paul W.S. Anderson. Event Horizon was a commercial failure with nuclear bad word of mouth from audience polls. But films like these stand the test of time. You wanna see an actually bad movie? You watch Jason X or half the Friday the 13th movies. The Resident Evil movies never stopped being stylish as frick.
They're watchable shit when drunk. Just because they look pretty in some scenes doesn't mean they aren't shit, and in general they stopped feeling fun after the second one.
The only part I enjoyed was when the two girls were at home and had to solve Wesker's note and puzzle, had Resi game vibes...
other than that, you cant really be surprised the IP is being milked like this, just time to grow up and realize this is what happens to everything successful. even LOTR is being ruined soon, despite Tolkeins sincere efforts to try and avoid it and preempt this very deracination.
So which is worse.
Final Chapter, the movie that spends the first 10mins retconning every movie before it and killing important characters off-screen with no mention of it. Or the shitty netflix show, that is 90% teen drama with a bunch of cringe shit in it and a shitty story that is somehow set in a world where the games also happen in.
Is it at least a guilty pleasure? I tried to force myself to watch them all but had to stop in the one where they start going through multiple scenarios like a video game or something. Can't remember which one it was
Thanks anon! It's been so long but I think I remember now the gist of the series. Frick it I'll finish it and then watch the last one over the weekend... god help me
>Is it at least a guilty pleasure?
No, it's objectively shit. The first two movies are at least fun popcorn movies, while Final Chapter just worse out of all the movies. In the first ten movies they changed the origin of the virus and Alice's backstory making the first two movies pointless since nothing in them is canon now.
You're telling me this isn't pure, unadulterated kino?
Paul Anderson's was boomer cringe kino.

It's a demonstration of Umbrella's Mind Control device
The negresses constant surprised looks make me want to punch her face
yes, very Lynchian
nice hot take homosexual
Go to bed Anderson.

yes
licker design was the only good thing about this trash heap
>consistently good games

CGI kino>Mila's adventures>Umbrella Corps>shit>shitflix adaptations.
My dad started watching it and he keeps talking about how bad it is. I said okay, so it's just like the games then
I refuse to watch it, it's not RE and even people who don't like the games or know of RE outside of the Milla/Anderson movies thought that it was straight bootyhole.
No. The Netflix series is pure kino. They both are garbage, but Netflix is more faithful to what the games have been + it's much more fun.
Kys.
At least it's canon.

Reminder that pick related is canon in Resident evil Netflix.

Thanks... sounds bad. I am shocked at how much I am enjoying the Netflix series, I had completely given up on the franchise.
The only good thing about this show is Bert.
May he get unlimited breadsticks wherever he goes.
I just want one quality adaption of RE, everything about it would work perfect on screen. Just it keeps getting handed to morons.
