Because that’s what they were created to be, obviously shadow and the bio lizard aren’t the ultimate lifeforms because they fricking die in the end while sonic survives so he’s the ultimate lifeform, shadow even admits it if you take a long time on the final boss.
I get the joke that Sonic was the real ultimate lifeform but I don't understand how only having powers in the vicinity of a glowing rock makes you the ultimate anything.

It’s his ability to harness the power of the emeralds that makes him the ultimate lifeform.
Because they wanted a goku and vegeta type story in their game. Vegeta shows up out of nowhere and is full of himself. He poses a threat and is basically a cooler goku, eventually he finds out goku has way more power and potential. Sonic has a lot of similarities to dragon ball.
my theory is metal (in metal overlord) will be the final big bad
movie will be team sonic vs stone /w shadow and eggman working from the shadows with metal sonic (keeps jim carrey involvement low so its not a massive project for him)
i would expect robotnik being alive to be the end of act 2 twist, comes in with metal, shadow turns good, live and learn
Shadow is a cold war project designed by gerald robotnik to be used against the soviet union. He is inspired by the ancient murals(same as SA2). However, robotnik sells out the project to the soviet union, which in turn develop a metallic version of project shadow (metal sonic, who will be red in color and with soviet symbolism). The movie will be a three way between sonic, shadow and metal sonic, until sonic and shadow team up to defeat a powered up metal sonic.
Metal Sonic will look like Eggman’s drones in terms of color scheme/aesthetic, and will job HARD to Shadow in the first act. Post credits will set up Metal’s revenge in Heroes adaptation
It’s the Star Wars/Marvel marketing mentality.
Big epic event movies HAVE to be around Christmas time. Make those tickets the perfect gift for lil Bobby
This could be a coincidence, but December 20th is the date Sonic Adventure 2: Battle released on the Gamecube (in Japan at least, which was the first release).
November-December was initially the target date for the franchise i think. The first one was going for a November date before the redesign pushed it to february, it also ends with Eggman proclaiming that "he'll be back for Christmas".
Also, i think it's a pretty bold choice, considering it's going against a blockbuster.

Wtf they announced the dates for like 4 movies at once? Okay that's not going to go according to plan, at least one of those movies will be hit by some delay or something. Very bold of them to just announce those dates. I don't know if I'm even going to watch them. I did enjoy the first Avatar movie, it was nice, but I never once felt like I'd really like a sequel.
Post music you really, really, really want to hear in the upcoming movie, either as subtle musical references or maybe as a full-blown orchestral rearrangement. Hard Mode: No Live & Learn since everyone will want that. For me it's:
