Bungie is now officially a Sony company. Get ready to see Destiny adapted into a movie/TV franchise so Sony Pictures can finally compete against Disney's Star Wars.

So Destiny is going exclusive, right, right?
Why would they do that when they can make a lot more money from PC and Xbox microtransactions?
>MUH EXCLUSIVES
Typical consolegay.
it’s so fricking pathetic
it’s all they care about and place value in
Destiny 3 will yeah. Destiny 2? No.
There isn't going to be a Destiny 3 anytime soon.
I know but still that's likely how it'll turn out.
No, it won't.
What do you mean no? You think it'll be on Xbox? PC yes absolutely no doubt but I really don't see them putting a future Desitny game on anything that isn't PS5 and PC.
Yeah that too
I've read everything that Bungie's written about this deal. They made it 100% explicitly clear that everything they do will be across all platforms forever. They're partnering with Snoy because they want to make a series/movie/whatever. I think Snoy made a decent move, Witch Queen sold very well and people have mostly been positive about the quality of content over the last few years.
Ah I wasn't aware of that well that puts things in a whole new light then
Dude I don't blame you, there's so much misinformation being spread around from people that don't know anything about this.
They realized their mistake and ousted the dumb fricker that had them do it. Joe Blackburn is the reason why the game turned itself around to what it is right now. Luke Smith was not the right game director and thank fricking god they realized it.
Where is this movie/tv crap coming from? Sony said they were going to shit out 10 GAAS games by 2025 and have bungie build them all.
Chances are they will make a spinoff game that will be exclusive*
Also on pc
EXCLUSIVELY ON PS5 (and also on PC)
Imagine killing the PC base.
They'd be in fricking shambles, literally lose over half their revenue.
We're probably going back to more timed exclusive strikes and shit, though.
Who fricking cares about that turbogarbage? I have never met anyone who plays the game regularly so I can only conclude it’s turdworldercore
>Who fricking cares about that turbogarbage?
Sony
No
Based Paul tried to joke about Snoy making him delete D2 from his Xbox and brainlets thought he was being serious
This is equivalent to when Microsoft bought Mojang
You might see an exclusive shader or emblem or something like that.
Get ready for PS exclusive raids and PvP modes, goy!
>PS exclusive PvP modes
I fail to see a problem with getting less pvp
Don't worry anon, they'll still be worked on and be part of the game's balance. You just won't have an option to play them.
Right now I'm trying to psych myself up to play IB so I'm not in a hurry to play the minigame at all
>PS exclusive content bullshit comes back
High quality movies coming out of Bungie real soon!
>3.6 billion for absolutely fricking nothing
I mean Destiny is a billion-tier grossing franchise already.
If anything, movies could do pretty well depending on how they handle them.
Sony does have a good movie making division.
>Sony does have a good movie making division.
Lmao. The Sony Pictures logo is the biggest red flag in cinema.
Pretty sure that's DC since it's a complete toss up if you're getting kino or dogshit.
>Destiny is a billion-tier grossing franchise already.
And yet I don't know a single person that plays it.
Destiny 2 alone is better than the shitch's entire library
lol it’s still only at maybe 30% of its playerbase since it’s launch, even after sending the table scraps to pc. they put so little money into the game that basically anything is a profit
Not even exclusive. Cope, bran loyal homosexual.
They're definitely doing it to compete with Star Wars and all of its upcoming Disney+ shows. There is no way Sony spent $3.6 billion dollars for one single game. The thing about Destiny as an IP is that like pic related, you have the potential to make a boatload of different movies and shows with it.
Heck, knowing Sony, they'll probably make a show centered around Cayde-6 to compete with The Mandalorian.
>sony actually think destiny is on the level of star wars
even halo still has more normie clout despite 343i killing it
I'm going to argue clout is secondary if they can actually make a good show. Remember the Halo tv series?
Nobody cares about the story of a guardian named Guardian and his ghost named Ghost out of the cosmodrome on a quest for Epic loot
And every time they have explained something it came out worse
Then they can make episodes about things other than the player character. Talking about the clout of Halo for a "successful" adaptation proves clout isn't worth much.
Hence the second part
Focusing on something to make it even worse than whatever people had cooked up isn't appealing
I guess they could focus on Crow, his entire arc is about to conclude. Hopefully do that I don't have to listen to his whinging anymore. And it's fully explained, can't get worse.
the halo TV show actually had good material to work from and they still found a way to frick it up
there's very little hope of a destiny show being good since the story is a mess and the TV/film division of sony is ran by absolute morons
Can't ruin what was never good so they can only go up
On the plus side character assassination is a lot harder since the main character isn't an actual character, and everyone on the side has long, intricate backstories.
At best you get them making unique adventures about vanguard members.
Imagine a story about Rezyl Azzir.
Everyone knows the twist coming at the end but the shenanigans with the fake dredgens, Drifter tagging in and out for the lie, Shin Malphur could be a really tight drama.
There's tons of storylines that could be told fantastically so long as they don't sell out for generic drivel.
>so long as they don't sell out for generic drivel.
lel
Just give me Zavala's origin story starring Lance Reddick
GAHDIAN
Hell, the Zavala story we just got is perfect for generic slop.
>hardened warrior
>women belong in the camp, not on the lines
>finds a woman who actually butts heads with him
>fall in love
>adopt a kid, move to the country
>war never changes
>kid dies
>heartbroken, zavala has to abandon his family to go back to fighting for earth
It's literally all there. You can even add in the stuff before about Zavala going from random risen to ironlord, plenty of fuel.
>women belong in the camp, not on the lines
If they're lightbearers, it doesn't matter because they can't die anyway.
Safiyah was a normal human.
It wasn't so much
>ree women
as it was
>ree not eternal warrior who can respawn infinitely
but, when in Rome, shitpost as the romans do.
>he thinks sony is capable of churning out a good show or movie
HA. the clout is supposed to get your foot in the door with an audience and if what you made is good then your audience will grow. in this case Sony can't make anything good, and they have no clout, this shit is DOA
>you have the potential to make a boatload of different movies and shows with it.
no you don't. You addicts never cared about the lore behind it and still don't. Most people play it because they're stupid enough to think halo was made by a competent company, which is not the case. No one likes Destiny for Destiny.
I hate disney and their cinematic universe bullshit so much.
>The thing about Destiny as an IP is that like pic related, you have the potential to make a boatload of different movies and shows with it.
How? The story and setting are so disjointed that even people who play the game probably couldn't tell you anything about it.
>The story and setting are disjointed
I'm kinda curious at that claim, how? It's quite clear what's going on in the story right now.
I'm not going to try to argue with you in detail, I didn't play the expansions of either game. I played Destiny 1 when it came out. The story and setting made no sense. Just trying to figure out why I could play as a blue human from Pluto or some shit made little sense. When Destiny 2 was coming out, I decided to watch some lore videos so that I could really get into it. That didn't help, it just made the setting seem really stupid and the story pointless. Then I played Destiny 2 when it came out... and it was just as bad, but this time my sidekick wasn't being played by a midget on quaaludes, so that was a plus.
If Sony thinks that they can turn this into movies or TV shows, they're even more braindead than I thought. I hope they pull another Ghostbusters and sink billions of dollars into making a whole subsidiary dedicated to Destiny media.
>Didn't play the game
I could have stopped reading right there, don't make claims on shit you don't know about, homosexual.
>I watched some lore videos about Destiny 2 after only playing Destiny 1 vanilla
You did the equivalent of jumping into season 5
of an ongoing TV series and you're mad you don't understand it? You sound like a braindead Redditor and you need to go back.
Is a literal schizo Sony exec in this thread right now? Are you having a meltdown because you know that you fricked up?
I'm not a Snoy exec or having a meltdown, people just trash stuff without knowing anything about it, like what you're doing right now. You don't know anything, you Black person.
I hope you guys are dumb enough to try to start your own streaming service with Destiny as the cornerstone. That would be hilarious.
Have you played recently? The new player experience is fricking awful.
>Vanilla D2 is gone.
>COO is gone
>Warmind
>Forsaken Lost Shore
The current story brings up a lot of shit from the past DLCs. Which is no longer in the game
I play every day, and I do agree the new player experience is dogshit, but I'm not a new player, the week to week content system has been great for the last two years. I wish the new player experience was better than what that cuck homosexual Luke Smith had them cobble together, but I'm hoping with Lightfall they change the way players are introduced to the game. The biggest complaint I hear from new players is that there isn't much to do for new players, no fricking shit, F2P is a demo, if you like the way the game plays and feels, buy a DLC and play through it.
I like the way the game plays and feels since destiny 1
what I want is to not have HAVE TO DO SHIT BORING BOUNTIES EVERY FRICKING DAY JUST TO FEEL LIKE IM DOING SOMETHING,
I feel there is no other way to legit do seasons progression. it's all the same boring shit every fricking day. It just felt like a stressful grind to finish the season. I want to play with the load out i want not kill 5 enemies with this rocket launcher bullshit. fricking simplify the bounties and allow beating missions or replaying shit to give u more season xp idk
>Do new activity
>Get some story dialogue
>Do another activity
>Do it again next week and focus on seasonal challenges and do whatever else you want
I'm fine with the way it is, the real bullshit is grinding the weapons to craft them. I maxed out the season pass like three weeks into this season and I was barely playing 30 hours a week.
like I said I'm more than willing to admit it may just be I am playing it wrong, but to be playing it wrong for years?? Looking up even how to speed up season xp. Maybe I'm a midwit, but I won't lie when I first got into destiny 2 I blazed thru the season because it had yet to get dull for me. so I think you may just do other stuff more higher tier to get u stuff faster and im still a pleb shitter
>A house of Fallen realized they should help us if they want to stand a chance
>The Cabal homeworld got raped by Hive and their empress sought an alliance with us that we accepted
>The Hive were created through a lie and Savathun is understandably pissed, and temporarily dead
>Calus is going to merge his mind with the Moon pyramid and become a new disciple of the Witness
>Something bad is obviously going to happen soon based on the name "Lightfall"
>Drifter is going to continue to be based
Wow so hard to understand, it's not like we get all of this information in cutscenes and weekly dialogue
If you could actually type all of that up and think that it is going to be a successful multimedia franchise, you're fricking moronic.
There are plenty of good stories they could do a series about, you just don't know about them because you don't play the game or know anything about it, homosexual.
Name 5
The story is easier to understand if people would read the collectible lore texts that put everything in perspective. Too bad people who like reading seem to be an endangered species these days. Such sad times we live in.
>second ToO armor set description
>shayura's wrath
Videogames are a visual medium, "tell don't show" doesn't fricking work the same as when WoW stipped all the important storylines out of their game into novels that nobody read and everyone's scratching their head going "who's this ginger homosexual and why is he the leader of Dalaran suddenly".
This guy was so passionate about the lore and story that he made a four-hour long video telling the story of Destiny from start to finish.
Byf is a gay, Myelin does much better lore videos. This is also only up until Shadowkeep which is three years out of date, a lot has happened since then.
>video barely covers over half the lore
>still 4 hours long
I think you're helping the deep universe point.
There's nothing saying you can't have a deep universe that nobody cares about.
I mean that much is true, point is there's tons of content to drag a story out of.
this video is extremely out of date, and byf sucks dick. I don't know why people fellate his content so hard.
Redditors fellate his content, I can't stand him, especially that he calls HIMSELF "lore daddy"
And it's the most boring and dry grade school >and then
>and then
>and then
narrative possible. Not that isn't fitting for Destiny's dollar store lore, but don't bother with this.
If you care about trash, just dive through links on a Destiny wiki, and play
It'll arguably be less sleep inducing
They had better make one about The Drifter. Best character in the whole series IMO.
Now I know Todd works for a bag of chips but the mystery is better for the character
I feel like Shin Malphur would be a good starting point, I think people like the "edgy cowboy-ish silent hero" archetype right now
They should do Ana the hapa and her fat black girlfriend
Destiny could honestly use a movie to get their narrative straight. They have some godtier designs/gunplay/skyboxes, but the story has always felt disjointed, especially since a lot of that story is unfortunately tied to the live service/seasons system.
What's so wrong about their seasonal storytelling? It's no different from a weekly TV show?
It's stretched out paper thin, generally unrewarding and underwhelming, with a excessive amount of grind tied to it
My homie you choose how much grinding you want to do, seasonal content stays for an entire year, there is SO much time to get the guns from each season and finish the storylines
Most the destiny online userbase are spergs who try to gun down content frame 1.
These are the people who are mad they can't finish all the red frames week 2 of a season when you'll be able to get a guaranteed one a week for 39 weeks.
Just let them sperg and enjoy the parts you enjoy.
it's not that it's wrong, you just can't replay it. So all those older cutscenes/gameplay experiences can't be enjoyed by new players, especially with Bungie locking certain older content as time goes on. So most of the story comes through dialogue and books that you unlock. it feels like Bungie has a good foundation for their universe, but the delivery is just so scarce and spread out. It's not like Halo where you get a fully fleshed out campaign. You get just little chunks of lore every now then after long periods of grinding.
The problem with Destiny's story is that the guy who wrote basically everything in Destiny 1 is gone and the people who got tagged in to replace him are just aping what he laid the foundations for.
I want to see what the Iron Lords were like during the Dark Age.
Please I don't want endless b***hing about Salad and Jolder
Papa Drifter or bust
Honestly, I want to see something set in the Dark Age period. The more I hear about it, the more kino it sounds.
Journey to the west but it's Felwinter.
Because it's more grounded fantasy with sci-fi elements instead of sci-fi with fantasy elements.
It's lotr but all the dark forces are fallen and hive and way better than the OOOO ANCIENT EVIL IS COMING ANY MOMENT NOW
I can't wait for megamind to die in a story mission and for Xivu Arath to be a strike
>supposedly killed calus this season
>just 3 reused assets and a shitty hologram
hope next season is warmind kino, this one sucked wiener on every level
He's not dead he just fled. And we will probably see him again whenever the witness arrives.
>Warmind kino
>kino
Yikes
Fled's a strong word. He got omnomnom'd into the darkness "collective" and we have no idea how the hell that will function.
It will probably function as a nightmare phase for the obligatory fight against the disciples conveniently reusing assets. Again.
The season story isn't over you dingus. It's being put on hold for Solstice and then Calus is going to mind meld with the moon pyramid and become a full fledged disciple.
If Bungie were smart they would make a single player narrative shooter about something like that.
Considering shit like morbius, they'll kill any interest in the ip by the first movie
I have never heard anyone talk about the story of Destiny.
Ever since Bungie deleted D2's base game (The Red War campaign), Curse of Osiris, Warmind and now the Forsaken story (which is what saved D2), I wouldn't put it past them to make movies out of those since that would pretty much be the only way for someone getting into the Destiny universe now to experience them at this point.
There's a fricking Star Wars Gremlins movie coming?
>Heck
>Destiny film
>after they shitted up every single cool thing about the lore the devs left behind for them
Sneed it!
>snoys still trying to justify this shit purchase with "It's for a movie"
Bungo isn't worth 3.6B, a Shitstiny movie isn't worth 3.6B
Who fricking cares. It will be full of Black folk and woman and it will have none of the original story. Just like the current state of the the game
How many damn Star Wars TV shows does Disney+ need? Are these really going to be produced simultaneously?
yep. it's over
Destiny has a story?
A lot of the story takes place in the lore texts that you can collect and read in the in-game menu, but a lot of players seem to ignore those. If you're interested in reading them, a couple of Destiny fans got together and compiled an online library for the lore books called The Ishtar Collective where you can read them all.
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/
>It has weekly cutscenes and dialogue
Yeah I would say it does in fact have a story.
Sony themselves pretty much confirmed they're planning to turn Destiny into a movie franchise.
https://www.ign.com/articles/sony-bungie-playstation-movies-destiny
>Sony movies
>without the MCU crew's help
Oh yes, this will end WELL.
I mean they do own Spider-Man which makes them essentially connected to the MCU productions.
The point I'm getting at is that Sony movies are often massive stinkers, especially when they don't have mainline Marvel association to bail them out.
Check out this MCUgay
Holy frick you're actually stupid.
This anon believes that the Morbius memes were real lmao
It's baffling that people think it farfetched that Sony astroturfed the shit out of Morbius memes. Especially when we have another IP distributed by Sony that also saw a suspicious surge of mediocre forced memes recently.
It may have been shilled, but the comedy that was releasing morbius twice to bomb out both times was worth it.
I always love it when companies fall for their own blatant bullshit and get bitten in the ass for it.
What about SpiderVerse? Marvel had nothing to do with that.
It's fricking OVER
So since they can't make good movies out of games with a decent plot, they're trying with games with dogshit plots?
What's the appeal?
"""""deep lore""""""
I don't fricking care about Cayde and that stuff, but if they could somehow pull off the darkness/gambit prime stuff I would cum all over my TV.
ToO too.
>Shit-tier movies/tv shows
>More Gaas scams
The future is not bright bros
Destiny 2 is sadly a very popular and profitable game.
It's an acqui-hire, the bigger share of those 3.6b is to keep the staff and have them teach the other sony studios to make gaas shit.
Destiny is printing money and whatever game bungo shits out next will continue to do so
They re letting bungi print money fir themselves theyre only hired to "help" sony gamepass shit
They bought the GAAS experience. They overpaid but still. They have absolutely no idea about making online games.
>Sony used to own almost half of Square Enix and could have bought them anytime
>they passed up on it
>From Software offered themselves up to multiple publishers and has a good relationship with Sony
>they pass up on it
>Square sells their ENTIRE western game division for 500 million
>they dont even bother
>instead they spend 3.6 BILLION on a developer with exactly one popular IP under their belt and they wont even make it exclusive
i truly dont understand this company anymore
This is what I don't get either. Why the frick pay so much for a b-list company? Destiny 2 was so fricking underwhelming and boring. They don't have anything else!
>Destiny 2 is le underperforming
love midwit takes
>Destiny 2 is le underperforming
He said UNDERWHELMING, you fricking drone. It doesn't matter how much it sells to the normiebox playstation crowd because flies are still attracted to shit.
Halo remastered on Playstation? Imagine playing halo 2 again lads
Halo is MS property.
>bungie still gets to make whatever they want on whatever platform they want
>song gets GAAS
moronic fricking deal. I could’ve told them how to make destiny for a couple hundred bucks
based bungie scamming sony out of money and then leaving their company 5 years later
Twisted metal gaas when?
d2 is so boring. there's nothing to do, and your progress is reset every few months. completely pointless.
I logged in and was greeted with a "We're celebrating Trans-month!" message. Just exited from the entire game at that screen.
Most unfun, boring, no-iq game ever.
>3 billion
>not even a Playstation Studio nor secured for Playstation exclusivity
They absolutely rushed this deal after Microsoft snagged Zenimax. Or Sony just became the world's worst negotiators all of a sudden.
I wonder why they didn't buy Eidos when the opportunity was there?
>Kill off JapanStudio
>Let Druckmann not only keep his job but they're remaking TLOU 1 for the second time
>Buy Bungie, the studio whose main talents have long since left and whose only current title is fricking Destiny
>Attempt to do Game Pass but worse and more expensive
>PSVR2 with the only exclusive being a Horizon minigame
The only reason PlayStation isn't crashing and burning is due to the cult-like fanbase that has formed around it since the Xbox One reveal caused it to bomb horribly.
PSVR2 doesn't work with PS4 too shame. Had to get used psvr for summer lesson but I'm never getting PS5 after their anti otaku moves
>let's not buy capcom, square enix, from software or literally anything else
>let's buy halo borderlands
kek
>companies buying each other left and right
>not a single good game among them
>Hurr durr PS exclusive
Dumbass take, they are not going to retroactively make D2 exclusive, you fricking morons
>Hurr durr buying company for one game
Destiny cornered the looter shooter and live service market better than anyone else
>Hurr durr dead game
It's more alive than ever
>Hurr durr loot treadmill
It's a looter shooter, but not like Borderlands where your gun is invalidated after leveling up once
I feel bad for room temp IQ knuckledragging homosexuals that missed out on this game because of Reddit opinions and misinformation
>>Hurr durr loot treadmill
It's a looter shooter, but not like Borderlands where your gun is invalidated after leveling up once
I feel bad for room temp IQ knuckledragging homosexuals that missed out on this game because of Reddit opinions and misinformation
you mean your gun is invalidated when they sunset it to make you buy the next battlepass and expansion and bonus dlc strike pass to get a good replacement
>I feel bad for room temp IQ knuckledragging homosexuals that missed out on this game because of Reddit opinions and misinformation
You say this like half the planet didn't play Destiny and find it to be shit first-hand.
>"There's no way a game hasn't changed in 8 years!"
This is how you sound. Frick off, Black person.
Most of my destiny friends didn't stop playing at launch back then. They bought every expansion, believed all of the hype until the inevitable, repeated disappointment and the feeling of being ripped off whittled us down bit by bit each release with the last of us dropping sometime after D2. The online communities (for as long as I followed them) were always full of people citing specific, reasonable issues they have with the game. Destiny has no shortage of ex-players who have thoroughly-educated reasons for not giving Bungie any more of their money.
tl;dr you are definition delusional
Probably the most moronic adquisition in gaming history
Incredible mistake. It's their money, though, kek.
good joke, it doesn't even run on linux
Linux is not a platform. No one cares about your mental illness.
it's literally running the vast majority of computers you interact with
Tried playing destiny 2, uninstalled after hour of trying to figure out what the frick is happening and where to go.
Kek moron there’s a hand holding tutorial for new players. Literally a “click here next” level thing. You are the dumbest fricker on the planet
absolute idiocy. bungie isn't even worth 1 bil.
>MS are throwing money into a fire, quick, let's also do that, but even worse!
Are these Destiny movies going to be animated or live action with crap CG for the aliens and super powers?
It's funny because when I was watching the Halo series, the CGI shots looked better than the live action ones, which looked like they were from a lower-budget B-movie.
>3.6 billion
How do they plan to recoup that?
Is this another star wars blunder?
>How do they plan to recoup that?
Haven't you been following the thread? They're going to be making a bunch of movies and TV shows based on the extremely compelling Destiny setting. Everyone knows how great the story of Destiny is, right?
Sony is going to kill Destiny for something much shittier guaranteed. Sony didn't even want to hang on to Killzone or any other old IPs they had. I don't expect Destiny to even be around anymore by 2030.
I thought this board hated Destiny? Did that change now that Sony owns them?
Yes. I’m a huge Sonytard, because without religion I’ve had to resort to worshiping brands. Expect me to start shilling Destiny from now on.
>Bungie starts off with MS
>these guys suck, we are done with them
>Gets bought by Activision
>these guys suck, we are done with them
>Sony buys Bungie
I'm sure Sony won't massively regret this 2 years down the line
>Bungie starts off with MS
What? They were independent for a long time, and made a bunch of games for Mac. They were basically the Blizzard of Macintosh for the longest time.
I can't wait for the next bungie champagne toast when sony ends their contract
Bungie were never actually owned by Activision, they just had a distribution contract with them for Destiny.
I can't wait for the tv show
Can't possibly be worse than halo, but it is bound to be terrible
Imagine the games that could have been funded for that amount
but noooo playstation needs to turn into a device without exclusives, focus on games as a service and completely western
would be funny if we see a sony halo by bungie that complete btfo the Black person sjw microshit nu-halo
Will Sony still allow Destiny on Xbox...?
Like how drones assumed for CoD and Bethesda games...?
Hope Sony saves Destiny from Luke.
Too late, Luke is overseeing the brand now
>Luke is kicked off Destiny
>They put Druckmann on it instead
Enjoy.
Someone probably should've told them Halo doesn't come with the deal.
Who cares anymore? Bungie is fully pozzed and all the guys who made Halo don't work for Bungie anymore.
All that's left are political activists.
...Bungie, why?, sounds like money laundering or some back room deal, why would Sony buy such a shit dev.
I don't think sony has a watchable movie in their entire catalog
What the frick is the point in buying them if it doesn't add an advantage to the playstation platform...
I still haven't been able to forgive Bungie for deleting Ana from the game and I don't know if I'll ever be able to come around to do it.
Don't worry, you get to hang out with her hotter sister instead.
She's more than likely showing up next season or the season after.
She was in the Beyond Light campaign
Ana Bray's silky asian thighs
>Disney bought Star Wars for 4.05b
>Has full control of the IP, able to do whatever they want
>Shuts down actors they don't like, forces companies to buy bulk if they want to sell and bullies theatres.
>Sony gets fleeced for 3.6b by Destiny 2
>A big part of the deal is that Bungie has creative control and is relatively independent and if these conditions aren't met they can sue
>Sony tried to tell Bungie to be quiet and keep from taking an political stances, Bungie immediately says no and slaps them up side the head and there's nothing Sony can do about it
Sony is so moronic, holy shit.
it only makes sense if sony is planning to go full multiplat
Maybe Sony can knock some sense into Bungie and make them officially release the Music of the Spheres album.
This is literally one of the greatest video game music albums of all time and it's Martin O'Donnell's masterpiece IMO. The only reason we can hear it now was because it was leaked. O'Donnell then even tried to share it on his YouTube channel and Bungie forced him take it down. Absolute shame because it's so beautiful.
Marty makes excellent music but he was allegedly a horrendous person to work with.
when you have actual world-class talent in pretty much anything, you can do whatever you want
I think Salvatori is doing just fine, I'd prefer if they kept Marty though
Horrendous person to these sjw types means he's a conservative who likes women
He wanted equity in Bungie and to retain full ownership of his work and he pissed off Activision, no? Isn't that where all the drama came from? He put Bungie in danger at one point and so they had to get rid of him?
That's kind of shitty of them considering how hard they go to retain ownership of their own IP that they'd deny someone who worked for them that same opportunity.
I remember when Bungie made him delete it from YouTube that they also made him upload a video telling everyone who downloaded the album to delete it from their hard drives and never listen to it again. It was heartbreaking because you could see the pain in his eyes as he said it. Imagine being forced to tell everyone to delete what is arguably your best work from their collection and never listen to it again. That was harrowing to watch.
>Get ready to see Destiny adapted into a movie/TV franchise so Sony Pictures
This is probably the only thing that would even be any good to come out of Bungie
Still a catastrophically stupid purchase by Sony. $3.6bil for a single property? Is there ANYTHING else that Bungie owns?
Im zabaling
Don't they still hold the rights to Marathon and Myth?
I wouldn't be surprised if Apple still owned the rights. They do own the rights to Pathways Into Darkness after all this time.
One of the 30th anniversary sets was the Marathon armor and the claymore from Myth drops in a dungeon, so maybe.
I mean, they don't own the rights to Halo but Phil Spencer said they could put Halo weapons in the game. It was Bungie's fault for not putting even more stuff in, they thought Microsoft wouldn't let them.
>It was Bungie's fault for not putting even more stuff in
The Halo weapons are basically broken, so that's probably why. The BRX in particular is basically an exotic.
yes. Don't expect anything from them though. Old bungie is gone.
>This is probably the only thing that would even be any good to come out of Bungie
Yeah, because Sony is known for it's high quality film releases.
I'm talking from the perspective of getting any money out of the "acquisition"
I guess the went after the "talent"
I can't even recall a quality Sony production. Uncharted was a middling adventure film at best, Ghostbusters was 80's nostalgia bait, and Morbius is a literal meme.
Spiderverse was the last one. But that was Sony Animation not Sony Pictures so idk if it counts
Does that mean theyll stop chopping old content on playstation?
>halo infinite released doa thanks to 343
>sony buys the only company that made good halo games
yup, this confirms halo is 100% dead
Literally the only good thing about D2 is the gunplay, why the frick do they wanna make movies of it. Absolutely despise this capeshit trend of making franchises for everything. Also the game itself gets boring very quickly once you’re done with the story content and it devolves into doing meaningless bounties everyday to boost a power level that’s gonna get reset anyway but maybe it’s better to play with friends
Why would you not want to make Destiny into at least a miniseries?
It has several spanning periods of time with a good depth of backstory and lore that can be explored.
>Why would you not want to make Destiny into at least a miniseries?
cause it’ll be relentlessly gay. has there been one video game adaptation that hasn’t been full of gay nigs
So what exactly do they get out of this or is it just Destiny?
dead game
For a game that nobody talks about, a surprising amount of people seem to play it.
Most people don't talk about it outside of the /vg/ threads because we get shit on by people that don't know what they're talking about. I only listen to the opinions of people that have played the game within the last year consistently.
>"people"
I have a pretty big group of discord friends and despite all of them playing Destiny at some point, nobody still plays it but one dude, and he's the most reprehensible normie on the planet.
I get into it every few months but eventually just get burned out after a few weeks. Plus literally none of my friends ever give it a try when I ask if they wanna get on and try it with me
>a surprising amount of people seem to play it.
Kotaku doesn't even shill for Destiny anymore and they shilled that shit for YEARS after it lost relevancy. idk what's paying the bills but I don't think it's human beings.
It’s just sunk cost fallacy. Nobody actually enjoys playing Destiny anymore.
The novelty of the seasons system just wore off, its boring grinding trash with recycled copypasted mechanics everyone hates now
>everyone hates now
>more players than ever
I want to live in Ganker's delusion some day.
By everyone I meant people who play since 2014
Anyone willfully playing Destiny pre-Forsaken was a moron anyway.
Taken King was the only good Destiny expansion.
nah
it was novel up to Rise of Iron - the point when quality of content went nosedive, the mysteries were cool and everyone was taking guesses how cool the cabal emperor would be and the darkness really is
Now it's just marvel shitshow
No one who plays Destiny actually likes it, they just know there's no other game that fills the same very specific niche so they're stuck.
I stopped for nearly year but my friends always manage to fricking drag me back in.
LawBreakers is a dead game. Destiny 2 is very much alive.
>Consistent top 10-15 game on Steam
>Even more console peasants play than on PC
Sony always wins
This is part of Sony's metaverse strategy according to their own press release.
>more metaverse shit
soul is dead. now there is only consume
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO
Bungie is probably one of the worst triple A studios working today. They are some of the laziest, most entitled game developers in the industry. They shouldn’t even be called a game developer they should be called a recycling company because of how much they recycle content. Most of the actual story is in lore cards which 90% of the player base will never read. The in game story is atrocious and has terrible dialogue. This is funny because Bungie used to be some of the best writers in the whole industry. Maybe firing half of your original team wasn’t such a good idea. Bungie developers refuse to listen to the community. I remember they refused to back down on sunseting only for them to immediately backtrack after they did because of how bad it was. It’s obvious now that the problem was never Activison and it was Bungie the whole time. 90% of your time playing Destiny will be spent replaying the same strikes you’ve done a thousand times. When they decided to delete half of their content from the game I refuse to keep playing. I had played the game since launch. The only people who still play this game just do it out of sunk cost fallacy.
We don't miss you, whiny little gay.
Why is there always some moron that shows up to whine about the god-awful Activision content being re-purposed and made better? None of the shit that was removed was well-liked by anyone, it was shitty WoW-tier content, through and through.
Oh yeah because nobody likes stuff like forsaken or all the raids they removed.
>forsaken
All the good content is still in the game, so who cares. The removed raids were mostly crap.
>defending removal of content that you paid $80 a year for
Logically, there is no way that you are a wise person
They also removed zero hour and whisper of the worm. Those were the only good things Bungie had made in year. It doesn’t matter what the content was removing content you payed for is indefensible.
Last Call might still be the best story mission Bungie has ever put out so I'd have to disagree with that at least.
Though the WQ opening is pretty strong.
It's pretty interesting how they gave Uldren a redemption arc, that even after everything he did, The City was merciful enough to forgive him and give him a second chance.
I mean he's quite literally a different person now, only difference is that he knows what he did as Uldren and wants to atone.
You missed the part where random guardians beat the shit out of him and killed him so much that he started to just hide his face all the time. Even when he comes out as Uldren's reincarnation in Chosen, some characters like Amanda actively hate him.
Of course eventually it will go like we all expect, but it's not to say trials and tribulations were not faced.
I'm just sick of him always being the focal point, let someone else breathe. Let me see him grow more organically instead of shoving his character growth in my face. We all know he'll be the hunter vanguard, thats the dare.
Amanda is just being tsundere, she's thirsting for that big blue wiener
Well luckily it seems his arc is finally over, considering he quite literally faced his demons this season and came to terms with them.
That was only after he got snusnud to death and the acting guardian dictatorship told everyone he would stay
Forsaken pretty much saved D2 from certain death after the first three campaigns which weren't anywhere near as compelling. It's rare to find a Destiny player who didn't like it.
>Pay money for something
>Do nothing wrong, break no rules
>Money stolen
Seriously frick online only games and especially frick Bungie.
Blame consoles. The entire reason content is removed is because consoles don't have the space to store it.
So why is warzone 200+gb which is literally over half the available space in series x and ps5, but destiny 2 can't manage 150gb?
Because it's a PS4 game.
Considering that they keep most of the Strikes and Raids from "removed" expansions, probably.
Warzone and destiny 2 are both ps4 games.
Why is one "unable to fit" on consoles, despite the other being bigger?
Destiny 2 is 123gb on my PS4, last I checked, I don't know how big Warzone is, but I do know it's lost players because of how absurdly large it is.
I guarantee most of that data is just uncompressed audio. There was some other shooter which had something like 30 gigs of uncompressed audio taking up space.
I, too, watch video game dunkey.
You're thinking titanfall.
>30 gigs
I see your uncompressed audio and raise you forced 4k textures. over TWO HUNDRED GIGABYTES of data in the fricking default gears 4 complete install is fricking 4k and 8k textures. Strip those away, it's a still large, but much more reasonable 43gb.
You could encode it all as 192 kb/s Opus and 99.999% of players would never even notice.
reminder that the only reason sunsetting exists is because they were too lazy to make destiny 3 and needed a way to reset loot
>Get ready to see Destiny adapted into a movie/TV franchise so Sony Pictures can finally compete against Disney's Star Wars.
AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
So I tried the free portion of the witch queen campaign and it was stale dogshit
Game is turning into WoW with all of its problems
How was it stale?
Same enemies, same encounters, same strategies the game is much like WoW is trapped in the curse of copypasted gameplay mechanics and recycled content
>playing on the default normal moron difficulty
lmaoing at you
I finished it on legendary though
Solo and then with a friend
And it's not hard just tedious because enemies are bullet sponges
I like Destiny, but I never play it. I really enjoyed the first game, but never played it when Taken King, etc. came out. All the expensive DLC burnt me out.
It's much different now, one expansion a year for $40 is fine for how much content you get from it. Each season pass is $10 and there's four a year, with each season bringing enough content to justify that price. I pay $100 a year to play this game and I think in terms of bang for buck I get more than enough entertainment for the price. Compare that to WoW when you had to pay $15 a month and $60 minimum for an expansion every two years. The price structure of Destiny 1 and the first two years of Destiny 2 were fricking awful.
a the current wow expansion added 8 new strikes, 1 new dungeon, and 3 new raids for 40 bucks. not to mention all the new enemies and the shitty roguelike mode. how many strikes, dungeons and raids do you get in destiny? how many new enemies have been added since launch?
This so far we've gotten a new raid, a new dungeon, three new strikes, and a new PvP map. We're still getting another raid (probably King's Fall from Destiny 1 but we don't know yet), another dungeon, and whatever we get from the seasons to come. The activities this season are pretty alright but definitely not anything amazing, they're enjoyable enough.
>wows worst expansion to date
>playerbase hates it
>expansion gutted and abandoned halfway through, completely skipped a patch
>still has more content than a destiny expansion
>destiny players still defend their game
lol
lmao
I didn't know WoW did yearly expansions?
wow does an expansion every 2 years
>pay twice as much money
>still dont get as much content as 1 wow expansion
LOL
The quality of WoW's content is individually pretty lackluster. There's only so much that can be done with a 32-bit game written in 2002. Destiny is much more fun to play and requires more skill than holding W and spamming your 4 button rotation. WoW is shit.
everyone universally thinks wow is shit. even i think wow is shit. it still has more content than destiny. destiny players are mindbroken addicts. go do some more bounties champ, now thats some real content
>Le quantity over quality
You're delusional. You need more Torghast in your life.
The thing is that Destiny has neither. There's actually very, very little unique content in the game and what there is is fundamentally decent (as in the base shooter gameplay is solid) but is often made worse by the mechanics and systems involved.
If the game didn't have such a solid foundation, it would have been long dead by now. Bungie should thank their lucky stars every day for whoever designed the core gameplay.
over 20 new enemies if youre being as generous as possible. discounting bosses and upgraded reskins, 5 new enemies. (heavy shank, cabal turret, dog, brig, wyvern) each yearly expansion is 1 new raid, 1 old raid apparently, and 1 or 2 dungeons
>3.6 billion for microsoft's sloppy seconds
>Bungie successfully scams Sony
Looks like retirement is coming soon
>yfw looking through your old d1 screenshots and videos
The experience was so fresh
Everyone chill and just enjoying the gameplay
I thought BUngie was bought by Microsoft again, what did I miss lol
I played the first destiny for a week and I think I played the second one for a little bit. It's amazing that I can't remember anything about it. Hopefully Sony can change that.
And I still can't believe Red War happened what a shitshow
Ghaul's recent mini arc was decent
It was a cliched tale of a wise ruler enticed by power into becoming a mockery of his old self. Entirely creatively bankrupt.
I'm talking about his relationship with catapult, not the red war
It was short and to the point. Not amazing but it did provide some character development
So was I. It was literally spelled out that he became resentful of Caiatl going to take over for him in one of the later lore books.
The Zavala storyline was the best this season.
Crow has been pushed too hard in most content recently. I think Splicer was the one time he's taken a backseat in the last year and a half?
Caiaitl's arc felt vert rushed.
one of the lines from d1 that i acutally really liked was " (the cabal) blow up planets and moons ust for getting in their way"
this season ghaul says he only uses the almighty as a last resort. admittedly its a star buster and not a planet buster, but it still seems like a change of direction for what is supposed to be the classical military superiority faction
It's still the same principle, just scaling the technology a bit higher as a weapon rather than a display of power.
But catapult's cabal is moving away from the trappings of honor and excess into efficiency. In theory, this is just playing up the power of friendship in practice. And the Calus story fight was a travesty
>Bungie creates a Destiny animated series/live action show

I guess Sony will integrate them into their GAAS plan. SIE better make Bungie remake Killzone or Resistance.
Fricking hell. They need to buy Square Enix already. Or ANY Japanese studios. Enough American shit.
Sony will die with Sony California.
>censor japanese games
>no first party games
>pays 3 billion for fricking nothing and does not even own the IPs
>troony shit getting pushed in all their first party games that release
>movies make no money
>even their electronics department is in the red
>censor japanese games
No game that can be harmed by censorship is worth playing in the first place.
>RPG directly mentions Christian god in japan
>censored for the west
Must be a shit game.
Yes.
Killing God is literally a power fantasy for angsty, immature edgy teens, not something a reputable work would engage in.
It wasn't killing god but how a religion was poisoning the water supply and then giving them the cure in their own holy water/communion, but nice assumption.
>Still playing Destiny after they jumped on the moral relativism bandwagon in Beyond Light
I am so tired of every fricking fictional setting doing the same "Clearly benevolent force actually isn't clearly benevolent and clearly malevolent force actually isn't clearly malevolent". A tasteless, scentless mass of gray is utterly inferior to the stark juxtaposition of white and black.
liberal writers just make anything worth a real impact, they can just subvert and pervrt and call it a day
Destiny has been setting up the
>the tool isn't evil, the wielder is
storyline since D2 launched and has been steadily making it more and more apparent that's the deal.
The light and dark are literal primal forces, order and chaos, they hold no allegiance to good or evil.
Though let the record show it was the light who apparently threw a temper tantrum about how the universe rolled out last time and that's why everything's so insane this time.
The light and dark apparently spring forth from the selfsame primordial entities that play the game of creation over and over again. Therefore, it can be argued that any action that is undertaken via the use of those forces has the implicit acceptance of the entity that is behind that specific force.
In short, moral judgments can be made about these forces because their sources have the capability to make choices, especially in relation to what kind of people they give access to their power to.
The thing is that we're now at the point in the game where creatures all across the moral alignment have harnessed both sides of this power.
I think the far more interesting take from Beyond Light is that Darkness can be harnessed from within, internally powered. While the start of the campaign gifts us its powers through splinters, we eventually can call it without any proxy.
The light has no such equivalent, it is still bequeathed to us and I think that's an interesting analogy. Maybe Bungie will dig more into it.
Also I said from within so I'm posting the Taniks boss theme.
That could just be an issue of saturation. If the Light has really taken such a bad beating that the Traveler is the last of its kind, then Darkness could permeate much, much more of reality than the Light does, and is thus capable of being harnessed "from thin air", for lack of a better term.
Honestly I'm sure this plot beat will come up when the next expansion is literally called "Lightfall", I just hope it doesn't get skimmed over.
What I want to know is who the frick is the disciple in the Europan pyramid, and why did they help us by giving us access to stasis.
It's actually interesting that we go back in WQ and it still helps us out, albeit a little more wearily.
my money is either nezarec or the original clovis bray
Seriously, why the frick every single piece of fiction written now does that shit?
>Had not been cancelled / became vaporware, System Shock 3 would have revealed "Shodan's true motives" according to the game's producers
If destiny was more dungeon running in the vanguard playlist then I’d play it a lot more. Unfortunately they insist you use sol arc weapons 100 times on the aliems of the moon to unlock the scion of the sun to use at earth’s hidden shrine after beating the harbinger of life or some shit.
>Boot up Destiny™ 2™ on my Xbox™ Series X™
>Console turns off and I'm met with a 'purchase a PS5 now' screen
bros...
That would be kino
Bungie is poz shit. Enjoy your new lgbtqiaap++ pan-african expansion guys.
Can somebody confirm if the game really revolves around magical dragons giving the powers to humans or some shit?
Those were a thing but they're all dead. We as the player kill the last one, they were like genies where they grant your wish but frick it up in some way. They're a drop in the bucket as far as the lore goes.
don't worry about the dragons, anon, they don't matter at all in the grand scheme of things, oh Anon mine.
The Ahamkara are a race that are just monkey paw incarnate. They can grant wishes, but they feed off desire and usually you get fricked over by the wish for their own ends.
Before the game happened, the lightbearers went on a great hunt and killed all but one of them (supposedly).
They are in the lore but not the main driver of the action outside of 1 expansion Riven literally causes all of Forsaken.
The powers are given by a giant ball in the sky, but it's just a force of nature for all intents and purposes.
There’s also magical worms that give powers
The worst thing is that all the cool mysteries are gone and we're left with the most gayest shit possible
I quit destiny when they did that george floyd countdown thing.
>george floyd countdown
wtf bungie could've warned everyone about gerge flord
>snoys discussing how destiny can be turned into an actual movie rather than movie game
LMAO Xbox one. Looks always determine which console wins. PS4 had last gen, now Xbox won.
PlayStation has made so many mistakes they can’t come back like Xbox did. They might actually go under
Nintendo is winning this gen. Xbox has never won a generation.
Wrong. Emulated on windows PC
They already came back from Xbox one. PS5 is dead in the water. Gamepass is best value in the industry. PC gaming is done on windows PCs
>>They already came back from Xbox one
>Xbone - estimated 50 million sold
>Series X/S - 12 million sold
>>Ps5 is dead in the water
>PS5 - 20 million sold
If PS5 is dead then Series X/S is non-existent
is best value in the industry
>people still buy PlayStations
hmm
>scalpers buying hype boxes
Besides, what console won has nothing to do with sales to normal cattle consumers
buying hype boxes
>forgets that the PS3, 360, & Wii were hard to come by for the first year or so
If their was no chip shortage the sales gap between PS5 & Series X/S would be even larger. Microsoft getting priority access to the chips didn't help them in anyway.
Sales do not equal the better console. Misguided cattle making something more popular doesn’t make it better
Besides, given the Xbox one disaster the sales difference isn’t as enormous as it should be
I should add that the Wii U is considered a failed console. And that had better games then Xbone anyway. Gamepass and ports to PC saved Xbox. Everything they do now is "we need to strengthen the service".
Brain damaged want to play multiplats on PS5 for hype and status because it’s hard to come by due to scalping. PS has decided to port nearly everything to PC as well.
Xbox has backward compatability on games that never made it to PC such as lost odyssey, good version of ninja gaiden, or pc ports that are broken such as saints row 2.
RDR1 in 4K 60 FPS is a better “exclusive” than anything on ps5
damaged want to play multiplats on PS5 for hype and status
Same thing happened with Wii. It was a megahit because of casuals.
>>PS has decided to port nearly everything to PC as well
no they haven't.
>>Xbox has backward compatability
so does PlayStation
>>the sales difference isn’t as enormous as it should be
you can thank the chip shortage for that. apparently even car manufacturers are affected.
do not equal the better console
highs sales means that a gimmick is super popular or the console has a good balance of 3rd party support and good 1st party titles.
PS has been porting everything to PC idiot.
>backwards compatibility
With ps4, not true BC with 360 discs and original Xbox games.
>current thing shortage blah blah blah
Wow snoys are delusional
>With ps4
you got me their. PS3 steaming is total dogshit
>current thing shortage blah blah blah
Do you honestly believe the shortage isn't affecting both consoles? A bunch of industries are affected you dumbass
You’re a fanboy. Ps4 slaughtered Xbox one but you can’t see how Series X is more versatile and set up for success than ps5
>You’re a fanboy
I switched from 360 to PS5 you homosexual. PS5 is already beating Series X.
>gamepass
irrelevant for me since 99% of my games are physical. They only good things Series X is full backwards capability and quick resume.
>thinking the chip shortage is fake and isn't fricking over both consoles
go leave

UH OH
Yawn. PS is the woke pedo brand. Keep recycling that image though
Except Xbox won the 360 gen
Wii doesn't count because it was the normiebox for boomers to play wii sports on
>>Wii doesn't count
Xbot Cope. Wii won that generation.
>>come back like Xbox did
Xbox won't ever recover from Xbone. They can't compete traditionally anymore. That's why Gamepass and dumping all their games to PC happened.
That's all sony can afford? a literal who dev? should have used that money to buy out capcom or someshit.
Capcom or Square Enix. Preferably Square Enix. Seriously what is Jimbo doing?
>light level is going away next year
>champions are still sticking around
Bungie used to be a competent team.
Actual source? Light level being gone would be an enormous boon.
The leak from mid-BL that has predicted everything right for two seasons and 30th update from plot to exotics to content and also Witch Queen story beats, with the exception of hardware mode for pvp and the vapor subclass, which can be assumed was delayed for light 3.0.
Yes, it's terrible. The legendary difficulty for the campaign missions in TWQ are one of the few good things in Destiny and it's purely because there are no champions in it, but every "hard" bit of content outside of that still has champions.
No, because you're still grinding for weapon perks or stat distribution on your armor. If anything, weapon crafting is going to be overhauled because that cuts down on grinding specific weapons.
I haven’t played since beyond light. Are they still trying to push champions? They’re one of the worst things bungie ever added.
level is going away next year
Doesn't the entire progression system work on light level? Why would this be a good thing?
yea light level is going away, they are also going to remove gambit cause nobody likes it
I like gambit
You better not be lying or I'm going to be very upset.
I wonder what my xbox friend who literally only plays Destiny 2 if I'm not around to force him to play co-op games with me thinks of this deal.
If he still plays Destiny 2 he probably says it's a g-great thing before flinching.
>muh console sold more than your console!
>worthwhile games released on both consoles combined: 0
Reminder that there are over 100 (yes, one hundred) guns that are still in the game files and most of them can even be reclaimed from the collections, yet they have been rendered obsolete by virtue of being flagged as "legacy gear".
Also, pic related is their artists vision of the Witness, their big bad. Pretty neat, right? If you haven't seen the final version that ended up in the live game, you might want to do a quick google search. It's a good laugh.
LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD
Utter garbage and how this passed QA is beyond me.
A literal pixar villain.
that fortnite skin be bussin fr!
I'm trying to wrap my head around the creative process that had to take place for the design to go from concept to that. It's like Bungie deliberately tried to keep the Witness as child-friendly as possible.

Another check point to ad on to the ever growing list of reasons i want nothing to do with Sony anymore.
The only part of Sony worth a damm is PlayStation and Aniplex
What are the chances that Sony sees the unexpected success of Spiderverse and how well Arcane did and makes Destiny animated movies?
It's pretty clear they're going to pursue a Star Wars-style approach if they make anything. Sony's shows are usually complete shit.
Arcane was done by competent people. That has very little to do with the game it is based on
Destiny supported me through the lowest point of my life and gave me a reason to wake up every morning for something so trivial as grinding gear, unironically helped me get my shit together again.
But I quit once they announced the vaulting of content and haven't come back since. That plus their constant push for LGBTQ bullshit, using it as a way to shield themselves from criticism for their many frickups just made me unable to return to the game since, no matter what.
Maybe, just maybe once the final update goes live I'll give it a try again
>But I quit once they announced the vaulting of content and haven't come back since
Yeah, same, played since Forsaken release, I really liked to do flawless raids, had like ~25 avg successful flawless runs per raids except leviathan one and just uninstalled when new major dlc turned out to be trash, all content was removed and my gear sunsetted.
Now the Legion of destiny cultists has vindication. I'm bracing myself for more insufferable Redditors shilling witch queen deluxe.
I have a friend who plays nothing but Destiny 2 90% of the time and the other 10% modern Bethesda game. Dude whales out his work money on cosmetics and gear to look cool and is incapable of playing any other game because he gets too frustrated at moderately challenging games and wants immediate gratification. Is this a common thing with Destiny players?
I know a couple of discord trannies that still play it and they throw ungodly amounts of money at it.
Cosmetics aside. The base buy-in price is so large too. You're throwing $100 for all the content across 4 battle passes two dungeons and the expac.
In all fairness, the 100 dollar pack is you gypping yourself with the 30th anni which is all of 1 dungeon and Gjally for 20 bucks.
You can get what you wrote for 80 USD.
My bad. It's still a huge buy-in. I don't wanna give bungie anymore cash. My coworker keeps trying to get me to reinstall. Irl destiny cultists are the worst
Yeah, that's respectable. Had a friend try it out of boredom and the base f2p experience is very barebones.
At least there's no real reason to buy older content unless you're totally into getting the loot/trying the raids and dungeons.
The gunplay is sadly just too good.
Yeah I quit after beyond light and am playing ffxiv and working through my single player backlog. Too many cultists nowadays insisting it's the best game ever.
> Dude whales out his work money on cosmetics
How do people even spend so much money on Destiny? Are they still doing that "shaders are consumables and mostly in the cash shop" shit?
>How do people even spend so much money on Destiny? Are they still doing that "shaders are consumables and mostly in the cash shop" shit?
It's literally moronic people, the one guy I knew who played D2 IRL was a guy who spent around 120 bucks on silver the first day he got into the game, since it's F2P any junkie with a console can play the game and buy cosmetics to show off their e-peen much like they'd buy overpriced gold chains IRL while living in a dump
>haven't played destiny since 2016
>know if I boot up destiny 2 I'll get addicted to the FOMO/gunporn again
Frick lads, I don't want to get burned again but it's so tempting to see what's new.
Just buy the major DLCs when they go on sale and blow through them.
WQ was 50 bucks retail, I'm sure it'll go on sale for 30 or 25 again soon.
I'm curious, as someone who bought the D2 base game: since the f2p and content vaulting shit, without buying more expansions do I actually have less content than I did when I bought the game? Do I have access to any content that F2P players do not? Or did I basically just piss $60 straight down the drain?
You're basically a F2P player, yeah. Destiny 2 vanilla was the Red War, and that is gone now. You might have some shaders and/or ornaments that are now unobtainium, but that's it.
Is that even legal what the frick
It is if you signed the EULA when you booted the game.
Not that anyone reads these things.
Feel free to take them to court like everyone said they would 2 years ago, though.
No thanks I'm just going to not buy any more of their shit like I was already doing. Also, what an oddly salty post.
It is because this question has been brought up for two years and summarily shut down.
I am mostly weary of answering it.
Good call not buying anymore though.
You aren't LOSING content, we are just VAULTING it we will occasionally RETURN it to you, so don't worry 😉
Oh BTW we're lazy fricks who keep charging you more money so we're only gonna return PART of the Leviathan, no not the actual raid, as a patrol zone and a few weapons from season of the opulent. After two years of "vaulting" existing, this is literally all that has been returned that used to be in the game. Cosmodrome and VoG don't count because they're ports from D1, not true vaulted content.
Yes. You have three patrols, a barely equal amount of strikes, and still only one raid. I guess you also have dares of eternity, but now can't even touch trials of osiris.
>Multi-platform
Lol it's fricking nothing.
splitting from activision and not making destiny 3 was their biggest mistake
Why is Destiny worth almost 4 billion dollars?
I hope Sony makes them cut the shit with the woke politics.
I know some eurokeks were talking about overriding this as anti consumer at the time but I didn't keep up on it because I knew it was going to fall flat anyways.
As someone who have never played a MMORPG or a GaaS service beyond a few hours of Silkroad more than a decade ago and a few hours of Destiny 2 and Warframe when it hit Steam and always reads the horror stories on these threads, I think that the always online games as a service concept is the absolute worst thing to ever happened to the videogame medium.
Gachas far and away dominate games as a service as the worst thing ever introduced.
You're right but Silkroad was kino aside from the parts that were shit.
People are bad with money
And some have difficulty getting their gambling problem under control
>Sony buys Bungie
>1 month later
>Bungie announces Olah, a woke halo clone
>still just another Uncharted game except with a scifi coat of paint
