Wouldn't that imply that they're no longer selling them? Just checked online, and it seems they've recently went out of stock in my region here in yurop.

not really, it just means the number are so low are neglect able to discuss individual, last Q they reported it was only 100K Shipped globally Switch sell that in less than 1 month in Japan alone.

Its legal as long as they dont obfuscate the actual Cash numbers overall of the hardware in the division .

Why do people say this? They had way bigger HW stock than MS. MS began outselling Sony for a year and they are still comfortably ahead. If not for the Series S MS couldn't keep up at all. The Series X needs way bigger chips than the PS5. From the same waffer they get less consoles.

Became more wienery and arrogant than they were with the PS3 and fricked up even harder ignoring warnings of Nintendo and Microsoft making a big comeback with their next consoles because they thought they were going to be on top forever. Now they're losing ground to both just like that.

Software sales are very strong in the west

        Anonymous

The "lead" wouldn't be as big as you think. Even before the PS5 launch, the PS4's sales were at a downtrend. People are just not as interested in Playstation as they were in 2013. Now, Switch, PC, and even Xbox have grown more popular so people aren't going to gravitate towards Playstation by default. The market is more competitive, and Sony needs to do more than just a $70 TLOU Remake who the frick thought that was a good idea
Furthermore, when fanboys say shit like "it would sell better without any supply" it kinda shows their lack of an understanding of the sitatuation. If there were no supply issues, there would be no scalpers. You realize that scalpers BUY CONSOLES IN BULK, right? The normal consumer would only buy one PS5. Even if there is there's a 1:1 ratio between scalpers and consumers, if every scalper were replaced by a consumer then there would be a significant drop in sales because consumers wouldn't buy PS5's in bulk. And due to the market being more competitive, a consumer isn't as likely to buy a PS5 as a scalper since he may opt to buy an Xbox or a PC instead, or he may just be content with his Switch and PS4/PC/Xbone because the library of current gen games is weak.

          >Nintendo designed the Switch to steal smaller Japanese games from Sony
I can believe that since they do give spotlights to games like Disgaea, Pacman/Klonoa, and the 2DHD titles.
          >The Switch can't run FFXV, KH3, or the big 3rd party Japanese games, so we'll let our 1st party games kill them in sales and reception.
That's kinda brutal. Can't see how a $70 TLOU Remake can compete with Pokemon when TLOU2 got smashed by Animal Crossing.

  15. 2 years ago

Does this mean most PS5s are really scalped down the line? As HW did slightly better but software worse. And what is even more curious they released much more first party titles in this year, or not?

so how long are the scalpers going to keep buying up stock before they realise no one is buying them of them?

That's the thing, anon. People are buying them from scalpers. They don't just sit in some dank basement with no one wanting them. They sell fast as frick.

      >a 2% decrease in sales is less than most market analysts would've predicted
It's a 2% decrease only because of the weak yen. In USD it's 17% down compared to last year

        Anonymous

Oh, forgot about that. That puts it about in line with expectations, but that also makes the loss in operating income even worse. They might actually have some issues right now. It's questionable if huge investments are a good move right now when they're bleeding sales like this.

They could probably scrape together the liquidity, but in their weak position right now, making even more investments just seems like a bad idea.
