I mostly felt the same way about the last generation, except back then there were at least a handful of games I wanted to try. Now it's been almost two years since the new generation started and I haven't seen any games that at least made me want to pick up a new console in the future. This is what listening to shareholders does to you. Sure they have a bit more money now due to extra cash from PC users but their brand is damaged because everyone will expect their games to pop-up in other places. They can release the best game ever and it won't move that many consoles because people will expect a PC release later. Which means that right now PS relies solely on the power of it's hardware.
Meanwhile Nintendo will get away releasing underpowered cheap consoles for years to come because it's the only place you can get Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Smash etc. Of course there is emulation but normies don't really emulate games and their next console may just be harder to emulate if it's a huge issue.
