If so, can we say that the Japanese version of CV 3 is much better than the NA release? Better music with more fidelity and a non-butchered difficulty curve.... That game kicks ass.
>non-butchered difficulty curve
how easy is the NA release? cos the jap version is by far the hardest in the series. but yes cv3 is sick, and metroidvania sucks
CV3 is not a metroidvania... Super Metroid hadn;t even released yet.
The NA release is harder than the JP release because the damage of each enemy scales linearly with the stage (i.e. all enemies on stage 4 do the same damage, sometimes ridiculously so). In the JP release, each enemy has its own damage table.
Main point is that the famicom version had two extra sound chanells because of superior hardware. The soundtrack just sounds extra sick, the difficulty balance is a minor plus.
>CV3 is not a metroidvania...
i didnt say it was. i was just dabbing on OP. >The NA release is harder than the JP release
oh right. i mixed the two up. I played the NA release and it was hard as nails, but a really good game. I didnt realise there were differences in soundtracks, will have to check it out.
Ah sorry, I misread you.
Yeah, def check out the JP version. There are some other minor graphical differences too because of Nintendo of America's strict no religious reference stuff in the early '90s. It's the definitive version of one of the best games in the series (Rondo still being king).
Anyways, there's an English patch for it on romhacking.net. Definitely worth a try. Akumajou Densetsu is the name of it.
Here's the OST, one of the best in the series imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqyoTvZ5cOE&ab_channel=grad1u53
from memory this music you linked sounds pretty drastically different than what I played. im suprised. its much better. thanks amigo.

No worries mate, cheers.
Meh Dracula X is better
Than rondo?? Get out of town.
I dunno, it always felt like the little sister in comparison. Maybe because rondo was so mythical in the earlier days due to it's rarity in NA.
Like, I still boot up Rondo once a year to tear shit up as Maria, but haven't played Dracula X in over 5... Maybe I got to see what I'm missing out on.

no, better.
acquire taste zoomoids
The entire legacy of castlevania is people copying SotN because it is simply the best entry. Cope, seethe, and die malding about it.
how's the retirement home
I am 27. acquire taste zoombrains
I am 35
Is this a secret castlevania thread?

Yeah I doubt anyone would disagree
I quit CV3 NA around stage 3, would I be fine in the jap version? I wonder if it's any close to SCV4 in terms of difficulty
Yeah, I would recommend giving it a shot. It;s much less frustrating.
i know, it's miles better
That must be why it is actually good lmao
SOTN on steam when
for some reason every port past the psp one has quiet music (like really quiet), you'd likely get the 360 port with that included
Speaking of CV3, anyone play curse of the moon?
Just bought it during the steam sale and was pleasantly surprised.
Hey, a long time "friend" of mine (Ganker creep) named Kae was playing Castlevania last night!
(no offense on the Ganker thing, I'm a Gankerirgin too like my gf)
>broad side of the blade directly facing the camera
>hilt held at an angle
what did ayami kojima mean by this
idk but also
>alucards sword looks like a rapier
>never holds it in official art, ever if he's hold alucards shield
pic not related but still cool
