Your name is Soulcalibur? That's very strange.

It's a shame, but now that the director of VI left Bamco the future is up in the air again.

Well that and didn't Bamco just commit to being a company for a "global market"? So all the designs are fricked most likely.

Who the frick even knows what that kind of corporate bullshit speak really means?

I'm probably alone on this but I unironically like Leixia more than Xianghua now.

I like Xianghua more than Lexia but she does have some really annoying win quotes and lines that I love

SCIII being PS2 exclusive after it was multi-console with II, SCIV being underwhelming and SCV's time skip removing several characters alienated a lot of people. At least when Tekken 3 pulled the timeskip it kept the great majority of characters and later Tekken Tag brought everybody back.

Pretty much, also add in legends, and broken destiny being disappointing, and a pachinko and a pay2win single player being launched during the long hiatus between 5 and 6

I hated the SC 'gacha' but had no issue with the Tekken one. You could get almost everything but costumes in Tekken Revolution just by playing even if you were incompetent like me.

I never tried the Tekken one, as I never liked it as much as Soul Cal, or DOA, so Tekken was just what I played whilst the other 2 were both on hiatuses

I don't get it how declined SC, it was at par with Tekken

It was arguably bigger than Tekken from about 1999 - 2004.

it was so bad SCV to lose ranking with other fighters? and i played SCV with the shilling characters before i moved to other fgs

On top of that, online play kind of changed the market for fighting games. You couldn't get by just fumbling through and learning as you went anymore, you had to do research and practice. For me at least that killed the fun in the genre.

I'm just not a hardcore fighting game fan, I liked Tekken 3, Tag Tournament and SC2, but I've never really had a good time with a fighting game since.

Yeah, the online play made them pay less and less attention to the offline extra modes. SCIV and V barely had anything (V's story mode was a complete joke). Not just Namco either as we'll probably never see something along the lines of Alpha 3's World Tour mode in a future SF game again.

There was also SCIII not having an arcade release until after the home release and ending up a glitch mess, and there was also EVO controversy about match collusion for V

Agreed, but Tekken is undeniably more successful.

I can't go back to delay based netcode.
Playing SC6 online I have to do my inputs early in order to not drop my combos. It feels so shitty.
    Love the game otherwise.

Let me tell you what kiled Soul Calibur VI for me: no breakable armor toggle option.
Having to fight half of the match in your underwear was, although hot, anticlimatic.

They've put that in now you know. You have to manually set it up for unrbeaqkable high/mid/low for each custom, but it's there

SC overtook Tekken for a stretch between 98 and 2002, SC 1&2 were perfect fighting games for the time with Tekken 4 being such a disappointment.
Then Tekken 5 happened and SC has never recovered.
