Don't get me wrong, I whole heartedly acknowledge that old DBZ had some kino moments like the top rendition of Trunks' awakening. I still remember how the game had such good what-ifs that "Piccolo was intended to be a Majin instead of Gohan" somehow became an urban legend solely because Supersonic Warriors used that "what if" it to great effect
I absolutely love how many times Toei tried to depict supporting characters like Tenshinhan as relevant, because they had conventional understanding of storytelling that tells them characters like that get used. They also tried to push Launch as still part of the cast for a while, because they assumed they were not dealing with a cavier kook like Toriyama who was flying by the seat of his pants. They gave so many extra bits to characters, praying that Toriyama would remember them.
The search for the androids in the city with all the Z fighters was awesome. Shame they abandoned that route, and after that is when the characters started becoming truly irrelevant.
I'd assume Bardock will be both the Z and Canon versions in one, probably with an alt costume with his Minus/Broly outfit. The two versions didn't really do anything too differently in battle.

When you select a character that can transform a toggle appears giving you the option to use a transformation (or fusion) right away, it's the same shit.
Wrong.
For example, Goku had four normal versions:
Goku (Early)
Goku (Mid)
Goku (End)
Goku (GT)
Each version had transformations: SS1, SS2, SS3, etc. Each transformation is a separate character with different Blast 1s (buffs), Blast 2 (specials) and Ultimates. Goku's ultimate is Genki Dama, while SSJ1 is Angry Kamehameha, and so on. You can transform back and forth, but they were treated as different characters.
The only advantage you have from transforming during a fight instead of just selecting that character directly is fusions. If you direct select for example Vegetto, he uses 5 slots, but if you choose Goku and Vegeta and fuse them mid-fight, they use less slots, and Vegetto's health is larger (depends on how much health Goku and Vegeta had before fusing).

Someone never played Tenkaichi. Different forms have different specials and ultimate, typically with the ultimate of an earlier form being a normal special while gaining a new ultimate in the higher form. They can also have different combos.

I'd rather buy DLC than spend $70+ on the same game but with a few new characters. Also, the DLC for Xenoverse 2 routinely goes on sale for 50% or more off. In addition, pumping out more games just splits the player base from those who don't want to continuously pay. I've never bought a single DLC for Xenoverse 2 and can still play online with everyone.

From what I saw, instead of ganking Goku in Zamasu's body he immediately goes to gank Bulma while (You) fight Goku because he just wants to see if he can still fight in that body, then gets the attention of Vegeta, also the U6 people show up because time frickery and long story short Goku tries to use a spirit bomb to kill him but it doesn't work because he doesn't know how it works in a Kai's body, Hit and Vegeta distracts Black while Goku goes for a spirit bomb infused punch instead

I never said I would buy DLC for this game. If given the choice of buying DLC for new characters or spending $70+ on the same game but a few new characters added I would rather buy the DLC, especially if it means the player base doesn't get split.
I can play Xenoverse 2 with people who bought all of the DLC despite not buying a single DLC, if new games kept getting churned out instead I would have to keep buying the new games. Scenario A you can just buy the game and keep playing with everyone for years to come, scenario B you're forced to keep buying games or play alone as everyone else just keeps moving to the new game.

My dad of all things preferred Budokai 3 and Infinite World to BT, but my friends who played dragonball games with me all jumped on BT3 over it.

Even to this day the most shared opinion I've seen online is that many saw BT3 as a more casualized experience that deviated too much from Budokai 3 in the gameplay department. I know all about it and I lived through it. Every character plays virtually identically, the changes from character to character are health bars, damage modifiers and different scripted animations with the exception of big body gimmick characters which are 2% of the roster and still boring.
Ki-blast spam, strike exchanges and tedious meter charge were never remotely engaging. You have nostalgia piss poor games that amount to little more than interactive anime reference galleries.

Functions and modifiers aren't the same at all, these games don't even have different functions. This is like if you made a game with 150 Ryus and and the only difference was health/damage/speed/meter gain and kept them all in the same ballpark.

It's done by Shintani, the guy who did the art direction for DBS Broly. Makes sense considering the game started production right after that movie came out.
I love Shintani's artwork, but that cover art is painfully mediocre. Not as horrendous as Kakarot's 5 minute MS Paint cover, but if it's supposed to be a callback to BT3's cover, it didn't do the job.

BT3 went all out with the what-if stuff. On top of the usual scenarios, pretty much every story fight gives your prompts you can select to recreate the story canon or ignore them for hilarious results like having Pan beat Baby instead of SSJ4 Goku or having Chi-chi beat Demon King Piccolo.
There is some kind of custom story gimmick and you can even share online. No one has any idea how good this will be though. I really wouldn't expect too much.

I absolutely love how many times Toei tried to depict supporting characters like Tenshinhan as relevant, because they had conventional understanding of storytelling that tells them characters like that get used. They also tried to push Launch as still part of the cast for a while, because they assumed they were not dealing with a cavier kook like Toriyama who was flying by the seat of his pants. They gave so many extra bits to characters, praying that Toriyama would remember them.

For example, Goku had four normal versions:
Goku (Early)
Goku (Mid)
Goku (End)
Goku (GT)
Each version had transformations: SS1, SS2, SS3, etc. Each transformation is a separate character with different Blast 1s (buffs), Blast 2 (specials) and Ultimates. Goku's ultimate is Genki Dama, while SSJ1 is Angry Kamehameha, and so on. You can transform back and forth, but they were treated as different characters.
The only advantage you have from transforming during a fight instead of just selecting that character directly is fusions. If you direct select for example Vegetto, he uses 5 slots, but if you choose Goku and Vegeta and fuse them mid-fight, they use less slots, and Vegetto's health is larger (depends on how much health Goku and Vegeta had before fusing).

Someone never played Tenkaichi. Different forms have different specials and ultimate, typically with the ultimate of an earlier form being a normal special while gaining a new ultimate in the higher form. They can also have different combos.

I never said I would buy DLC for this game. If given the choice of buying DLC for new characters or spending $70+ on the same game but a few new characters added I would rather buy the DLC, especially if it means the player base doesn't get split.
I can play Xenoverse 2 with people who bought all of the DLC despite not buying a single DLC, if new games kept getting churned out instead I would have to keep buying the new games. Scenario A you can just buy the game and keep playing with everyone for years to come, scenario B you're forced to keep buying games or play alone as everyone else just keeps moving to the new game.

I love Shintani's artwork, but that cover art is painfully mediocre. Not as horrendous as Kakarot's 5 minute MS Paint cover, but if it's supposed to be a callback to BT3's cover, it didn't do the job.

Reread that. It's saying you unlock Broly and Gogeta from the beginning if you preorder. Meaning you unlock characters via Story Mode and shit. If you don't preorder you will probably have to beat the Broly Saga to unlock them.
