making models is never really a waste of time, but i do agree its presumptuous of him to show this stuff off before getting it in game is possible.
eventually there will be a blender plugin and all his models will work i guess, but who knows how long that will take.
Sunset Overdrive is the most recent insomniac engine game on PC, and it never got proper mod tools so people are basically starting from scratch once this comes out

One would hope but plenty of games don't get them. Death Stranding and Horizon(only got shitty tools) are two more quick relevant examples. Even games that get them usually take a while, like TW3 or Dad of War.
i truly think that games get them based on interest. horizon and DS simply dont have the amount of interest that spidey will have. the witcher 3 also got it from pure autism years later, so its just a matter of time for something this popular

There's no real way to estimate what game will get mods honestly. Days Gone got them but didn't really need any compared to Horizon where you play as an ugly hambeast. Ubisoft games afaik never get decent mods which doesn't make a lot of sense.

idk i think it makes sense. ubisoft also tries much harder to lock down their games with online checks so only pirated versions would be worth modding, and that lowers a modding communities interest
you're right there is no real way to predict the timeline but I still think there are enough people eagerly waiting to make the tools for spidey when it comes out. who knows, maybe it wont even be difficult for them to figure out and we'll have mod tools in a couple weeks.
im trying to stay hopeful but realistic. even hitman 3 has made a ton of progress with modding and that game hugely under performed

Why? The OG model was so ugly and he was balding. It looked nothing like the mocap actor and every time it moved it was uncanny horror. Spidertwink down below does look a little too young but otherwise it is a much better capture of the face model, looking just like Ben Jordan, and it is much better animated. And he isn't balding in his low twenties.
