If you queue up at the same time it's more likely to pair you in the same room. You can get a few guys on your team that way. I've been accidentally paired with pool members in Series and I check the notifications and it's because we queued at the same time, this has happened multiple times this week.

S+ does not discriminate. It will pair S+0 in points debt with an S+50. X battles are more strict about adhering to power. Now the system can definitely be abused if the queue up at the same time but I'm just saying, sometimes people are just that good.

I play with the pool practically everyday bro. My 999 were just more me giving myself a challenge of sorts, I didn't want to cheese it.
999 grinds are called grinds for a reason. They’re tedious as frick and when I’m at 700 EVP I’m probably feeling burnt out. I’ve gotten the last 100 points in freelance before, but I don’t feel the need to prove how good I am at the game.
Counterpoint: Scores were artificially inflating due to dropping player count and discord overfishers. I've gotten gold every time except the first time when I had no idea what to expect and was off by ONE. It requires you to get a specific set of waves i.e. high tide/fog and the right weapons and bosses to spawn, as well as teammates that are worth half a shit. Basically you're just rolling until you get the right RNG. It's manageable and I do have fun chasing that high score, but it can also be a laborious grind for many and arguably the score is inflated beyond what it should be.
Honestly i'd be fine with set egg counts if they were near the actual high scores.
High score should be 150 since that's usually the number where lots of people get filtered

Fair points, and well made. In the end, it more than likely won't change our big run experience in the least. I'm just hoping Barnacle and Dime is a good SR stage. Inkblot was a bit of a pain and Undertow was a nightmare. Wahoo World and Umami were pretty damn good. I liked Barnacle as a tricolor, so hopefully that's a good sign.

You got a fricking deal. Even with how unwieldy and ink-hungry it is, I love mowing down hordes and bosses with grizz slosher.
Give me a few tips I hate using that thing
This is probably the most basic tip, but positioning is everything with it. Since you have little to no way to defend yourself, try to keep a safe distance at all times from any threats. Do your best to line up your shots so they can do the most damage to everything. A few flying slosher shoots in a row can cut down a crowd to almost nothing, and helps free up your teammates to deal with shit you may not be able to like stingers and flyfish that are too far away. I'm still trying to undo the muscle memory from Splatoon 2, where it was way less of b***h about ink and seemed to have a bigger hitbox. I still struggle sometimes to one-shit flyfish when it was the simplest thing to do in 2.
Overall I quite enjoyed it. New stages are nice, the big run was good, and we got not one but two Shiver stomps and Fryegay blowouts. Got to help in both. All that suffering was worth the tears.
I think the problem might be my aggressive playstyle. It's like how you struggle with the grizztana I always seem to get fricked by everything and I can't escape.

Because there are time when I fricking love having the grizz stamper, but it's sandwiched in between so much suffering. Could not tell you how often I've gone to deal with a flyfish or whatnot only to immediately have some stingers start shooting my ass while 3 more bosses immediately spawn in front of me to prevent me from dealing with the initial problem.

- Be extremely aware of your positioning and enemy ink if a lot of ranged bosses are active. Kill Drizzlers ASAP since no one can do it faster except Grizz Splatana.
- If you see clumps of trash you can pierce with 1-2 sloshes, do it and get them out of the way so they aren't up your ass later.

Probably is; being aggressive with the slosher is dangerous if you aren't extra cautious. Doesn't help that smallfry at your ankles make you waste a ton of ink on fricking nothing.

Overall it’s a double-edge sword imo. On one hand it removes the goal of going for a high score since you already know what is gold, along with removing any luster of a gold statue, but on the other hand that means focus can be put more on having a good time with the new map, atmosphere, and new king without having to sweat over hitting gold or RNG fricking you over with bad waves or timmies and whatnot
All in all i’d consider it to be for the better. Besides, random/gold rotations fun come from having access to the random (and sometimes op) weapons and nothing else. This change would be no different, except it also comes with all the fun of Big Run

I really don't understand why not introduce a top 100 leaderboard and additional useless badge or title for teams on this leaderboard. Let normal people get their stuff. Let autismos rip each others throats out for that badge. Literally everyone benefits. And while they are at it they can start giving you previous tier rewards too.
Something like the trophies being tied to set goals and the % system being a part of the bulletin board (where you get scales and badges) than a part of the Deep Cut announcement could be a good way to reduce seething and still give incentive for tryhards

-teammate goes to the other side on low tide, gets splatted while we're dealing with not being overrun, then STAYS OVER THERE despite all the bosses spawning near basket so we eventually wipe by the time someone notices their sorry ass
-idiots on glowflies running around everywhere instead of getting a bottleneck on the moving platforms or on a wall going
-getting overrun because anyone with crowd control is fricked off on the other side
And so much more that made that stage the worst possible stage in 2
Downright unplayable after any stage with grizzco weapons or similarly good lineups because all the idiots get bumped up to a level they can't handle, with the added benefit of kids who've never played S2 or S1 having NO CLUE how to play the stage

They kept the enemy team busy while I grabbed the thing and got the win, completely unobstructed. I reviewed the replay and only one enemy realized what was happening.

I have a question about demoting. Can you reach a certain point total in a rank that you don't demote at the start of a new Season?

Nogami is unforgiving, you will demote no matter what.

You'll go back to A+ but it shouldn't take that much work to get back to S. Only real way to preserve rank is climb to S+10, which preserves your S+, but that's significantly more work than going from S -> S+ so many don't really bother
How difficult is it to rank up to S+ at the beginning of a season?
I've heard that it can be easier as you're paired with more proactive players. If you wait till the very end you get the last minute stragglers, so it's probably preferred to get back up to S+ ASAP

Pros, specifically the X-rank players, all jump to playing X battles once they hit S+, not bothering to go up to S+10 to preserve their ability to play X battles as they wanna go for the high X power. Because of this they get demoted to S and want to grind back up to S+ ASAP so they keep work on their X power. You’ll be matched up against a lot of these tryhard pros and get your ass fricked as a result. In addition there’ll be plenty of other folks trying out the new weapons they have little experience with in rank at the start which can lead to plenty of losses on account of their incompetency
Yea playing at the end of the season puts you up with last-minute stragglers which is painful, but at the start you’ll be putted against the sweats and silver/gold X-rankers which can be just as painful

Anyone considering resetting their rank when the new season begins? I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it just for the sake of learning a new weapon. I've used the splat roller and Krak-On roller exclusively but everything I've seen seems to indicate that carbon deco is the best option.
Both splat roller and krak on got buffs recently. Carbon Deco is good because its kit is great. But Vanilla roller is in a really solid spot imo.

I rarely do it but earlier I had it charged but a boss was going to kill me so I swam to a different position and killed it
Well, most chargers can swim with a full charge. Gootuber can swim with a partial charge, which works p well with its high tap fire damage. Very useful for when you see a drizzler missile and need to reposition but don't have enough time to fully charge to do 100 damage and deflect it.

Ok, on the topic of signaling, is it so hard for players to just be aware of the world around them? If you see a teammate struggling, go ink a path for them. See a hard boss permutation? Make a plan, make a contingency too. See possible scenarios and weight your options.

And on that note, can we normalize not straying too far from him? I understand that of course Freelancers are too stupid to use crab early when there’s not 10 bosses swarming them or use the DPS stick to actually do DPS, but at the very least can we do continuous damage to the boss? I guarantee you a fricking Aerospray does greater DPS than you going the distance of the map 3 times for eggs.

For me, it's fizzy bomb. Love getting the first kill as soon as I reach the middle of the map at the start of a match or launch it in the feet of the trizooka user as soon as he start using it and watch him splat.
Ink Mine's pretty neat. Put it where the enemy will be to soften them up and catch them retreating, use it to watch the flank, get post-death kills.
