Do many people even play this game any more? I hate to say this, but each Splatoon sequel feels like they've either barely changed anything or changed things for the worse. The lore stuff is still great and the games look better with each one, but I just find playing 3 a slog with the constant disconnects, stupid rotation system, lack of new modes, and maps with the same layouts. I'm tired, bros. Splatoon 1 was so innovative..

Apparently it actually has many more players than Splatoon 2 did. Surprising since Splatoon 2 sold more. Seems like the series is doing quite well. I could see it growing even more if Splatoon 4 fixes the problems this one has.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was common. My guess for why Splatoon 2 had way less players is either that the updates weren't good enough or a bunch of people only bought it because there was nothing on Switch when it came out. I assume most of those people quit very early on.

Defense definitely had an advantage where the US was placed to where attackers would be filtered to only a few entry points. Whenever I had defense, I aggrod one sides base until they tunnelled me to waste their time. Worked every single game that wasn't a mirror match. When attacking I gave up attacking the US and just made myself annoying as possible by drawing aggro but just laying paint. This also helped win every game that wasnt mirror.

The relatively small / thin size of the map made the action really intense. And yet most of the map is layered on two layers, which still gives you options to flee, take cover, or ambush other players.

The game was rigged from the start; the homosexual that made Shiver the only appealing character knew exactly what they were doing and the kind of people who she'll attract. The actual question should be if Splatoon 3's failures will effect Splat4's Idols, because Splat3 is fricked beyond repair, where a DLC is about the only thing that could save Deep Cut as characters, the Splatfests are already poisoned.

Like I know there's gear calculators that'll tell you how much ink saver will add extra shots to your primary and I do recognize the effect of Intensify Action, especially with blasters, but how meaningful is it really? Unless you're running a particularly bizarre build like just using reeflux to spam tentamissiles all match?
Like I feel like I'm not really noticing a meaningful difference between a guy that actually knows how to use his e-liter with fresh off the rack gear with question marks, vs some guy running a roller/brush with a shitload of run speed up/swim speed up.

Aside from the obvious ones that are unique like Ninja Squid, the subs do make a difference even with one chunk. For example, just by having a single ink resistance sub you get a few extra frames before you get slowed by enemy ink, the special saver sub with just one chunk saves 10% of whatever you had, and Quick Super Jump makes a noticeable difference when youre jumping back in or out.

I think the abilities that are best used with one sub are bomb defense, quick super jump, special saver, ink resistance, and intensity action if you're using a shooter with jump RNG
