Game is already pretty silly but the castle part is filled with comically over the top shit that ruins the mood. There is also a lack of environmental variety compared to the village section.

Original is way more cheesy and less scary. Controls will get a while to get used to, but I'd say after you get it down game is easier. If you really wanna play OG then play with original controls.
Remake has better visuals, gunplay and characters are more fleshed out. Personally I prefer more wienery og Leon, but here they clearly wanted to continue tone and character progression from REmake2 and he has nice growth over course of game. For better or worse they tried to make game more serious and 'realistic'. They cut out lines that were too silly or could be seen as inappropiate given situation. They remade maps to make more sense. In a sense remake is better game, but for many it just lacks some sort of crazy spice that og had going for it.
Play whichever looks more appealing to you and if you like it then give other one chance.
I think my current view is to maybe play through all the original releases in order and then maybe in the future if I like it enough to do all remakes in a row

Don't get why people hate the island. Some of the best parts like the regenerators section or the fight with Krauser are on the island. I'm not particularly fond of the chaingunners or the Mike section but overall I think the island is good.

Killer7 is pointless in OG re4, you get it way too late to be worth investing upgrades into, and it ends up being significantly worse than Broken Butterfly.
In remake it’s still acquired way too late, but at least it’s good. Laser sight is very nice to have, and final upgrade makes it an rng crit nuke.
I'll stick with my shot gun. it is the most powerful gun though.

Broken Butterfly now has to be bought, can't be found, but instead you can find some smg and red9. Punisher pistol is for medalions again. There are more weapons, albeit some like laser got completely cut out. Mine launcher got half cut out.
Remake allows you to store weapons and during reselling you get whole cost of upgrades back and half cost of weapon itself, making it easier for trying out weapons.
It's not the same game Anon. It's good for 2020s nu-vidya but don't expect a legendary relic like the original RE4. They are very different styles of third person shooting at the fundamental level. And the whole charming factor of the game's style was sucked out and it's much more generic.
There's no fricking laser sight aiming. Imagine a Dead Space remake without the laser beams. It's a core part of the game's identity and they ripped it out and replaced it with the RE2 reticle blooming meme. It's gay. Again I'll say it's good for modern gaming but still very gay.

op here, remake is very good and fun too. but just know that the enemy is bullet sponges and the fun from original is not the same as the fun in remake. hard to say. i think the whole mechanic of the remake, especially knife, makes it fun, rather than the shooting being the main element. idk how to put it in words. try the demo i guess
