>starts RE2 remake >gets to the sewers >exit game >starts RE3 remake >realize first 5 minutes are forced walking >exit game >starts RE HD, finishes the game.
it is not the case in 4 remake. island is not bad in it, but ofc the village is still the best. would actually say that the worst in 4 remake is the castle, and even that is not bad
>starts RE7 >get to marguerite's house >exit game >starts RE8 >get to moreau's level >exit game
say whatever you want about nu RE, but they're faithful to the classics in some ways at least.
holy shit same. but with re7, i usually finish it. when i do quit, its usually at the ship section. just bcs its too tense and the fact that i lose all my guns
Game is already pretty silly but the castle part is filled with comically over the top shit that ruins the mood. There is also a lack of environmental variety compared to the village section.
I've been saying this since 2005. Resident Evil should always have been resident to the player.
A house, a city, somewhere close
The castle is just absurd and feels like a big devil may cry asset they didnt want to waste.
my intention is to play through the whole series so I don't really want to put myself in a situation where I have to replay something
I've just never seen Ganker so divisive because it's usually clear cut in original vs remaster situations but RE in particular seems polarizing
>emulate RE1: Deadly Silence (the best version of RE1...) >then play REmake 1 >then emulate the original RE2 with the Seamless HD Project mod >then emulate the original RE3 with the Seamless HD Project mod >then play REmake 2 >then play REmake 3 and get sad >then play original RE4 >then play REmake 4 >then play RE5 with a bro >if you really and truly enjoyed each of the above titles, then play RE0 and CVX >if you enjoyed RE5 in co-op and for the mercenaries, play through RE6 with a bro, but don't take it remotely serious. >disregard 7, 8, Outbreak 1/2, and Revelations 1/2 they will only serve to disappoint you.
I'm sure someone could try and make arguments they are slightly different sub genres and they feel like both wanted to do slightly different things.
Original is way more cheesy and less scary. Controls will get a while to get used to, but I'd say after you get it down game is easier. If you really wanna play OG then play with original controls.
Remake has better visuals, gunplay and characters are more fleshed out. Personally I prefer more wienery og Leon, but here they clearly wanted to continue tone and character progression from REmake2 and he has nice growth over course of game. For better or worse they tried to make game more serious and 'realistic'. They cut out lines that were too silly or could be seen as inappropiate given situation. They remade maps to make more sense. In a sense remake is better game, but for many it just lacks some sort of crazy spice that og had going for it.
Play whichever looks more appealing to you and if you like it then give other one chance.
I think my current view is to maybe play through all the original releases in order and then maybe in the future if I like it enough to do all remakes in a row
if I were to opt for original, is this patch generally recommended and will it be playable on a 360 controller?
this isn't a star ocean 2 r situation. the remake of re4 actually takes away game play

How the frick did this post manage to produce so many anons that thought the topic was the Re4/Remake4 and not Re1/Remake1?
The second part of the castle is where I start to get bored. Especially that underground desert like area before the mindcart, I always forget it even exists.
Don't get why people hate the island. Some of the best parts like the regenerators section or the fight with Krauser are on the island. I'm not particularly fond of the chaingunners or the Mike section but overall I think the island is good.
Killer7 is pointless in OG re4, you get it way too late to be worth investing upgrades into, and it ends up being significantly worse than Broken Butterfly.
In remake it’s still acquired way too late, but at least it’s good. Laser sight is very nice to have, and final upgrade makes it an rng crit nuke.
NG run using only found weapons is so damn fun. Running pistol, pump shotty, magnum with a single rocket for the right hand is too damn comfy. The purcashable weapons are sick and all but funneling all my moneyz into upgrades is too damn satisfying.
Such a fun game. FRICK I might buy the remake. FRICKING SHILLS FRICK YOU OP U homosexual
I know man I know but.....but what if there are fun runs? How solid is just running what you find? Do you still find those three guns.....frick don't tell me. I have to stay strong. I know it'll be SHIT. I got 80 gabe bucks for the winter sale and that shit is going towards actually new and good games. FRICK
>Do you still find those three guns
Broken Butterfly now has to be bought, can't be found, but instead you can find some smg and red9. Punisher pistol is for medalions again. There are more weapons, albeit some like laser got completely cut out. Mine launcher got half cut out.
Remake allows you to store weapons and during reselling you get whole cost of upgrades back and half cost of weapon itself, making it easier for trying out weapons.
It's not the same game Anon. It's good for 2020s nu-vidya but don't expect a legendary relic like the original RE4. They are very different styles of third person shooting at the fundamental level. And the whole charming factor of the game's style was sucked out and it's much more generic.
There's no fricking laser sight aiming. Imagine a Dead Space remake without the laser beams. It's a core part of the game's identity and they ripped it out and replaced it with the RE2 reticle blooming meme. It's gay. Again I'll say it's good for modern gaming but still very gay.
op here, remake is very good and fun too. but just know that the enemy is bullet sponges and the fun from original is not the same as the fun in remake. hard to say. i think the whole mechanic of the remake, especially knife, makes it fun, rather than the shooting being the main element. idk how to put it in words. try the demo i guess
The RE4 remake is genuinely one of the best games this year. Stop being a homosexual and just pirate it and find out.

What exactly is it that makes RE4 so bad compared to previous games? I cant put my finger on it but it feels more like an arcade game compared to RE1-3 which were more serious
>starts re4
>realize i missclicked and it's not the remake
>permanently delete re4
you troony always ruin my thread
make better threads, this game is dogshit

Am I the #1 fan of the island for only thinking it's a small step down in tone, but not some atrociously paced disaster?
Game is already pretty silly but the castle part is filled with comically over the top shit that ruins the mood. There is also a lack of environmental variety compared to the village section.

Resident Evil games always have shitty final areas/chapters/levels
never played RE but I want to start soon
Ganker told me to play the original but the remaster looks spookier
what is the right course of action?
emulate the original games
Play both, but the REmake is remarkably better visually -- obviously.
>remake is better to jack off to
>no mercenaries
Imagine not finishing the playthrough and getting every single gun fully upgraded after multiple playthroughs
Don't listen to the contrarians. The Remake is the second best game in the series (only the original RE4 is better)
>The Remake is the second best game in the series (only the original RE4 is better)
Finally someone who isn't a moron.
you can't do that because every difficulty unlocks different guns in the original re4
if you think you will enjoy the remaster more play it first
my intention is to play through the whole series so I don't really want to put myself in a situation where I have to replay something

half-life vs black mesa
yakuza 1 & 2 vs kiwami versions
that's all I got though
>yakuza 1 & 2 vs kiwami versions
There's a lot of back and forth over those too.
>what is Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
>what is Metroid Prime Remastered
Anyone who is telling you to play the original over the remake is a silly c**t.
this isn't a star ocean 2 r situation. the remake of re4 actually takes away game play
No it doesn't
where is mercenary mode then you fricking homosexual?
It's in the game you fricking moron
too late too sorry. Capcom can go frick themselves
Came quicker than to og4,
>remake is riddled with denuvo
>calls other people morons
god damn dude....
Unless you have a potato for a PC, denuvo doesn't really impact performance in this game
We were clearly talking about RE1. Also, no, RE4 doesn't take gameplay away.
It's in the fricking game. Do you morons actually play the games you complain about?
when did they implant mercenaries mode in the remake?
>ESL
I doubt those Russians I was responding do even know shay esl means
I think the original edges out the remake in spook
>emulate RE1: Deadly Silence (the best version of RE1...)

anon that sounds like such a chore that just reading this post made exhausted
I'm sure someone could try and make arguments they are slightly different sub genres and they feel like both wanted to do slightly different things.

nah if you have to just play re2,3,4. the original 4 mogs every single resident evil (biohazard) games
>nah if you have to just play re2,3,4.
so just skip 1 now?
I'm getting lost
1 is basic and repetitive. if you have to play the first one play the directors cut
holy shit rat boy looks 10 years old in that Pic
Play both. I like the remaster better but the original is great too.
How the frick did this post manage to produce so many anons that thought the topic was the Re4/Remake4 and not Re1/Remake1?
Are REgays fricking idiots?
play the game cube version
Speak for yourself gay, I like the island.
The second part of the castle is where I start to get bored. Especially that underground desert like area before the mindcart, I always forget it even exists.
stop playing the remakes you stupid esls
Don't get why people hate the island. Some of the best parts like the regenerators section or the fight with Krauser are on the island. I'm not particularly fond of the chaingunners or the Mike section but overall I think the island is good.
pic related is the best gun in the game after the killer 7

I'll stick with my shot gun. it is the most powerful gun though.
not universal, because that's not what I do
the island is fun
Bazed

I ain't gunna. I AINT GUNNA
That reminds me, the Broken Butterfly really disappointed me in the remake, its crosshair is so sensitive it becomes tedious to use.
What's the difference between Professional and Hardcore in RE4make?
Professional makes parrying tedious as frick
>Playing RE4R
>Get the revolver
>Shoot some Hispanic in the torso
>They get blown in half at the waist
What the frick caliber is this gun
a rip off of the killer 7. a gun you can only unlock in the hardest difficultly in the original
You can buy Killer7 on normal.
Just admit that you're afraid to cry at this point.
Why is Leon so likeable?
What exactly is it that makes RE4 so bad compared to previous games? I cant put my finger on it but it feels more like an arcade game compared to RE1-3 which were more serious
It is?
>starts RE2 (1998)
>plays the entire game - Leon A/Clarie B, Claire A/Leon B
Feels good man. Now for a little Sunday morning music:
