A lot of things? There's a frickton of thematic and character inconsistency. I'm not emotionally married to any one character or collective so I don't care if any one entity gets the short end of the stick, so long as it's done right. I don't think a lot of stuff was done particularly well.
On the note of the Garleans, I would have liked their story/that area expanded on, but I'm not particularly disappointed in how they were handled otherwise. There's a neat little poetry in how they're built-up over the saga, and when we finally get there, meta-narratively they're just a sad roadblock we need to get through.

Communicating and spending all the preparation time they had to find alternative solutions would've likely worked better and saved quite a number of stars along the way. This is due to XIV's weird issue with drawing all shadows at high resolution. When you go into first person it's disabling your high resolution player shadow and letting the system render all the other shadows at full resolution. Dawntrail's last map adds another dimensional layer

Doesn't anyone feel like finding out the way to safely shard travel in DT would be kind of lame? It's been such a difficult dilemma with no clear answer and not even the ascians having a good response for it. If we just went to Tural for reasons completely different to shard travel, aka. the race and the Golden City, and then we were suddenly like "WHOAH HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THAT THE SHARD TRAVEL FORMULA ISN'T THAT A BIG COINCIDENCE" it would feel kinda cheap. It's already a big ass coincidence that a simple treasure hunt had us run right into a portal to the Thirteenth, but it wasn't that on the nose since it wasn't a real solution to the overall problem, just a way to reach one shard and one shard only that doesn't apply to every other.
It's possible to shard travel but the intrigue will be in actually getting there yeah, the only clear way to do it is Void portals (entreating dark magic and LOTS OF IT to rip open a portal to the nearest shard), using the Crystal Tower to pump a metric frickton off aether, or entreating outright Interdimensional Rift entities like Midgardsormr (Shinryu) and Omega; Y'shtola is kind of sunk if the most viable way to actually get around shards is mechanical and not magical

A lot of things? There's a frickton of thematic and character inconsistency. I'm not emotionally married to any one character or collective so I don't care if any one entity gets the short end of the stick, so long as it's done right. I don't think a lot of stuff was done particularly well.
On the note of the Garleans, I would have liked their story/that area expanded on, but I'm not particularly disappointed in how they were handled otherwise. There's a neat little poetry in how they're built-up over the saga, and when we finally get there, meta-narratively they're just a sad roadblock we need to get through.

This is due to XIV's weird issue with drawing all shadows at high resolution. When you go into first person it's disabling your high resolution player shadow and letting the system render all the other shadows at full resolution. You ever notice how in cutscenes the player shadow is super crisp but NPC shadows are super low res? It's the same thing.

Dawntrail's last map adds another dimensional layer
It's a zone set in the Rift that will facilitate Shard hopping in future expansions
Doesn't anyone feel like finding out the way to safely shard travel in DT would be kind of lame? It's been such a difficult dilemma with no clear answer and not even the ascians having a good response for it. If we just went to Tural for reasons completely different to shard travel, aka. the race and the Golden City, and then we were suddenly like "WHOAH HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THAT THE SHARD TRAVEL FORMULA ISN'T THAT A BIG COINCIDENCE" it would feel kinda cheap. It's already a big ass coincidence that a simple treasure hunt had us run right into a portal to the Thirteenth, but it wasn't that on the nose since it wasn't a real solution to the overall problem, just a way to reach one shard and one shard only that doesn't apply to every other.
It's possible to shard travel but the intrigue will be in actually getting there yeah, the only clear way to do it is Void portals (entreating dark magic and LOTS OF IT to rip open a portal to the nearest shard), using the Crystal Tower to pump a metric frickton off aether, or entreating outright Interdimensional Rift entities like Midgardsormr (Shinryu) and Omega; Y'shtola is kind of sunk if the most viable way to actually get around shards is mechanical and not magical
