I've just watched this homosexual and holy shit he is moronic. Why would you make a "review" when you don't even know how your device work? Why would you buy such device in a first place?
I'm surprised it's this bad. I play some PC games with a controller and I'm used to having to frick around sometimes. All I expected was stuff like when he had to bind buttons to alt+enter and other little quirks. But I wasn't expecting that many games to crash. I though Linuxgays said Proton was good and let you play almost every game.
It can't go into being that complicated though. It goes into "people who built their own PC" tier. Which is still within easy brainlet levels, but they're selling a prebuilt here. Someone that buys an Alienware computer might know how to maximize their window or work around things, but you can't expect your average consumer to frick around with every little $10 indie game to work.
>but you can't expect your average consumer to frick around with every little $10 indie game to work.
Wait so your argument is that average user will not be able to google simple solutions, but that same average user will play extremely niche unknown indie games that simply don't work instead of you know just booting up vampire Survivors or whatever other FOTM game they want that works fine?
I'm sorry but that makes no sense.
Not him, but the guy in that video is very clear that he wants to keep it as "out of the box" as possible. No, normies don't want to frick around with settings. Of course they don't. They're NORMIES.
Linux will literally never be for them, and personally this shows it. Most average users are saying that it's weird how steamOS is buggy. It's not buggy, this is just how Linux runs. It requires the user to waste a LOT of time fixing shit that windows just..does.

I'm still not getting what your argument here is, pick a side. Either you want a device for normies that run popular normie games on Steam like Vampire Survivors, Elden Ring, Gta 5, Fifa and Stardew Valley, or you want a device that runs Mr.Shifty out of the box?
Claiming a device is not for normies by testing random crap that literally has average of 3 players per day according to Steam Charts is dishonest reviewing.

normies play indie games like that, yes? They're cheap and often good for quick blasts and run on low-powered hardware?
>I'm still not getting what your argument here
You know, there is a lot of stuff you don't get yet. You must be new to this whole "emulation" thing? And that's cool. When we get into it, some of us DECADES ago, we go a little mad, and taunt people and say "ahahahah now we can play YOUR GAMES TOO!" but it's not new. It's not even a big deal, really. So you can play nintendo games on your handheld? big fricking whoop. There's a handheld out next month that will play 360 games at 60fps no sweat, even RDR. tech moves quick.

These are the games normies play? Not Stardew with currently 53000 people in game, not ARK with almost 150000 players currently in game, it's Hammerfight and Mr. Shifty.
But hey, nice of the reviewer to warn the other 3 players of Mr. shifty not the get the Deck, props to him.

The issue is that the Deck has been mis-marketed as a console, when it's explicitly not a console and you should not go into it expecting the same degree of quality control for software as a console.
>quality control for software as a console.
I'm not sure if you're trolling on unaware of the gigantic amount of shovelware that exists on the Switch eshop.
Or about publishers selling shit like FIFA on the Switch which is actually just an old PS3 version of the game with updated rosters, but the same price as the actual real new FIFA on PC and other consoles.
Or about cloud versions of games that run like ass even if you're on perfect internet connection.

no ones talking about the switch oled. you asked what the point of the switch was. and it's to play actual games at roughly half the cost of your handheld pc, OP.

You're right, OP. I used to wear casual clothes most of the time, but then I got a three-piece suit, which is clothing, but works in SO many more situations, so now I threw out all my other clothes and only wear a three-piece suit in every situation.
Came out 5 years earlier for a fraction of the price, has multiple exclusive games and has detachable controllers which in all honestly, the deck should have as well because it's the first thing that's going to break
>May - 77k Decks sold >June - 180k Decks sold (132 million Steam users * 1.18% Linux share * 7.57% of Linux users using the Steam APU) >Valve is doubling production starting in July
Deck should hit 1 million units by the end of the year.
Ah shit I worded that poorly. May had 77k Decks sold total while June had 180k total so Valve sold 103k in the month of June. As they're doubling production, they should be shipping 200k a month which will get them to >1 million by the end of the year.
I would if it turns out to be good. Which going by the other pokemon switch games, it probably won't. So I'm not sure why people are so quick to put it in the list of must-have games
yeah I really don't see the deck as a switch replacement, moreso a PS5/Xbox replacement
I might get all eventually anyways but as of now Steamdeck has garners more interest from me, no reason to get an xbox over steamdeck, they pretty much literally have the same game and PS5 has yet to have a bloodborne
I generally like handheld gaming as a family man too
The only big downside I see, at least for me is, no native gamepass support. I primarily game on Xbox, so I thought I would be able to use this as a portable one, but you can only use gamepass Via streaming, so I might as well just play on my Xbox at that point.
Am I the only one who isn't huge on the analogs? The matte finish is too slippery for my taste and really threw me off when trying to play a dual stick game like Isaac. Any suggestions for grippy covers for them?
To make the unit appear inexpensive. People can claim it costs 400 dollars, when in actuality, people are buying the 649 dollar model at a far higher rate because it's actually useful.
>people are buying the 649 dollar model at a far higher rate
wrong. 99% of people got cucked into the top model because it wasn't clear at the time whether or not the SSD could be swapped out and not willing to give up their spot in the queue. >it's actually useful
????????? literally paying $200+ for steam avatars?
Mine is on its way. Can't wait.
I have over a decade's worth of Steam games collected on the cheap over the years to play.
Maybe I'll finally play through Bioshock 1+2.
>people talking about getting Yuzu perfect on deck >here I am with dolphin and can't seem to eliminate stutter in my games
What settings do I need to focus on? I feel moronic here. Got it running from emudeck but Wii and GC just has not been kind to me so far
because dedicated gaming devices for emulation are fricking nice
also emulation in general requires 5x the compute power necessary for a game to run natively. emulation is a benchmark of power.
There's very little to say about running pc games, anything that's verified just works, most stuff that's listed as playable basically just works and at worst has small text or the wrong button labels, most stuff that isn't rated just works, all of it performs pretty much flawlessly short of recent AAA games and unusually high demand AA games from recent years.
Not much else to say, really, portable form factor does sort of make it easy to clear your backlog though, it feels fresh, whereas on my pc I just get bogged down posting on Ganker or with other distractions and barely do any gaming.
>item thats sold less than 100k >still have to see daily threads from steamoids the console kiddie shitters of PC gayman trying to defend their 400 dollar bricks that also plays games at unacceptable settings

>May - 77k Decks sold
>June - 180k Decks sold (132 million Steam users * 1.18% Linux share * 7.57% of Linux users using the Steam APU)
>Valve is doubling production starting in July
Deck should hit 1 million units by the end of the year.
Ah shit I worded that poorly. May had 77k Decks sold total while June had 180k total so Valve sold 103k in the month of June. As they're doubling production, they should be shipping 200k a month which will get them to >1 million by the end of the year.
Wow! At this rate they're going to sell 1/120th the volume that Nintendo pushes!
okay and?
emulatorgays will defend this
>mfw ryzen 6800U devices emulating odyssey at 60FPS
What a time to be alive
Thanks valve for opening the way, but there's progress to be made
Why don't you show the results for the other ones?
604663798
>Less than 10 entries
moron
does it have bing bing wahoo?
and no buggy, criminal imitation doesn't count,im talking the real deal.
you can't play the new pokemon game online on deck
But would you want to play the new pokemon game in the first place, even on the Switch?
I would if it turns out to be good. Which going by the other pokemon switch games, it probably won't. So I'm not sure why people are so quick to put it in the list of must-have games
you can't play thousands of PC games on the switch. or PS2 games.
but you can't play xenoblade chronicles 2 on the deck, so it evens out.
I mean if you're content with a handful of games sure.
people generally buy a switch to play switch games? Are you frick-stupid?
what if I say yes you aspie?
not everyone's main hobby is vidya, I shit to do, projects to work on and I lift, I barely manage 2hrs of vidya a week
playing xenoblade chronicles 2
What game is this?
Does switch runs gta iv at 60fps?
Live a live demo. Full game is out later this month alongside xbc3
Mario and Zelda.
Switch is easy to pirate.
Reminder that most people who own a Deck already own a Switch too, and these threads are just pointless console war homosexualry.
Most people who own a Switch are kids who got one for Christmas or birthdays
>source: dude trust me
>Needing a source about children having a console made for children
Do you also need source that dog food is mostly consumed by dogs?
I could say the same about Deck and you literally couldn't prove otherwise.
yeah I really don't see the deck as a switch replacement, moreso a PS5/Xbox replacement
I might get all eventually anyways but as of now Steamdeck has garners more interest from me, no reason to get an xbox over steamdeck, they pretty much literally have the same game and PS5 has yet to have a bloodborne
I generally like handheld gaming as a family man too
Yep
Playing the right masterworks, too. A man of taste.
I like to buy and support the games I like.
That I've been able to play it for five years already.
It's fine that something replaces it now.
deckchads i kneel
and now we pray
The only big downside I see, at least for me is, no native gamepass support. I primarily game on Xbox, so I thought I would be able to use this as a portable one, but you can only use gamepass Via streaming, so I might as well just play on my Xbox at that point.
>want Steam Deck
>was born in the third-world country
Why life always isn't fair to us? Money isn't even a problem, Gaben just refuse to ship it here.
Does it play Splatoon at it fullest? If not, frick off with your shit.
mogged
That looks fricking beautiful. If it ends up being $999 or less, I will get one straight up
based
Playing AC valhalla on this at ultra on a bus will be fricking magical.
Valve can't even operate a storefront properly
What's the point of the steam deck again?
to play games that dont run well on emulators and to supports games that i actually like.
Am I the only one who isn't huge on the analogs? The matte finish is too slippery for my taste and really threw me off when trying to play a dual stick game like Isaac. Any suggestions for grippy covers for them?
what's the point of the 64 GB model? you can't even fit any games on that shit
????????? literally paying $200+ for steam avatars?
>wrong
>go on to explain that I'm right
okay?
>didn't read my post
... okay?
>99% of people got cucked into the top model because
almost there buddy! keep going
You literally said 99% of people bought the top model, idiot. Do you know what words mean?
let me know when you read the entire sentence anon, i believe in you!
Why do I need more than that? You admitted that 99% of people bought the top model, agreeing with me.
Mine is on its way. Can't wait.
I have over a decade's worth of Steam games collected on the cheap over the years to play.
Maybe I'll finally play through Bioshock 1+2.
>people talking about getting Yuzu perfect on deck
>here I am with dolphin and can't seem to eliminate stutter in my games
What settings do I need to focus on? I feel moronic here. Got it running from emudeck but Wii and GC just has not been kind to me so far
Apparently its a bug with the latest firmware causing stuttering in games.
You might need to roll back to the last stable version.
To live rent free in your head
To give you games to humblebrag about
Why do deckies only talk about emulating?
Do pc games play like shit on it or something?
because dedicated gaming devices for emulation are fricking nice
also emulation in general requires 5x the compute power necessary for a game to run natively. emulation is a benchmark of power.
Not much else to say, really, portable form factor does sort of make it easy to clear your backlog though, it feels fresh, whereas on my pc I just get bogged down posting on Ganker or with other distractions and barely do any gaming.
>item thats sold less than 100k
>still have to see daily threads from steamoids the console kiddie shitters of PC gayman trying to defend their 400 dollar bricks that also plays games at unacceptable settings
Just admit your poor or a third worlder and neck yourselves. No functioning adult should need to cry and justify game prices this hard
>he console kiddie shitters of PC gayman trying to defend their 400 dollar bricks that also plays games at unacceptable settings
switch owners?
Where the FRICK is the official dock?
