It's that time again. Everyone is making strategy games these days. Post available demos that you've tried and if they are any good. I haven't had a chance to try any, but I have a whole heap ready to go.

calling them strategy is a bit of a stretch sometimes.
I'm browsing a bit and verticality still a thing which hardly exists.
Only nekomimi Kemco's SRPG ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/2106560/Cross_Tails/ ) and Slime ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/2171500/Great_Ambition_of_the_SLIMES?snr=1_614_615_nextfest_100704_4 ) game had it, everything else is flat as Etna's chest.
also the frick is this piece of garbage lol https://store.steampowered.com/app/1983990/Stellaris_Nexus/
Still prolly has more gameplay than Stellaris itself.
This Revival looks half curious, at least they tried into terraforming https://store.steampowered.com/app/1306770/Revival_Recolonization/
Some shitty TD knows how to grab attention. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2232650/Expand__Exterminate_Terrytorial_Disputes__Endless_Base_Defense?snr=1_614_615_nextfest_100704_2
Either way as usual separation by genres means nothing in fest, if I try any of above I'll write up on it. Only downloaded Kemco SRPG tho.
>also the frick is this piece of garbage
Yeah I'm not even going to bother trying the demo. I don't understand the appeal of a 4x that takes 1 hour to play.
youre not the target audience
>open the Stellaris Nexus page
>everything in the UI except for the character models looks like concept art
>END TURN
I guess I shouldn't complain since I don't play spaceshits anyway, but damn, Stellarisgays lost hard
>Stellarisgays lost hard
I don't think Stellarisgays even care about Nexus. They're obviously not the target audience. This seems more of an attempt to target ADD-riddled zoomers without an attention span.
I tried the stellaris mobile game and closed it after 3 turns because it was just a shittier moo
And no one is going to get it because no one buys stellaris because it's like civ in space. They buy it for the rpg larp factor
it was fine on release
too bad that's gone now.
>it was fine on release
lol
lmao
I mean it was not perfect but it was fun
sue me
gotta check it out too, flavour is really usually what games have too much nowadays, just bland yet good basics is something I want
Throne Fall Demo:
Not much there. Basically a flash game. It will cost too much for what it is. But it was fun.
Randoville:
it's a simplified banished but without the shuttling of resources and everytime you build a building, a die is cast to determine the quality of the building.
don't bother
Altwaldheim2
another flash game
it is okay, for a flash game
wouldn't paY FOR IT
Looks like something I'd play in my browser in highschool.
Playing Revival Recolonization at the moment. It's pretty cool. Played it a couple of next fests ago and it was super rough, but they've come a long way. Basically a post apocalyptic 4x.
it looks like a mix of Endless Legend with normal civ, i hope they succeed but making good 4X which isnt janky is not an easy feat
Yeah, it's a neat little foundation. Needs some more flavour, like events or unique stuff. But the basic game going from oonga boonga back to sci-fi is cool.
Frick off samegay devshill
god forbid people discuss only 4X on that list, fricking have a nice day schizo moron
Tried the demo, it was kinda fun.
The tactical combat was interesting and that combined with the avatar and it's "magic" reminded me a bit of Age of Wonders
Played it a bit, I feel like it has way too many mechanics for my taste.
If battles were not tactical I'd try a bit more, but I really don't want to bother.
Somewhat fun, but the way researching terraforming "powers" and "politics" is so simplistic and disjointed it actually hurts.
It should be either remade as part of CivV culture "talent" tree or reintegrated into standard research.
In what way does the "post-apocalyptic" theme manifest in the mechanics? Or is it just a skin?
Tried Iron Marines Invasion to see how it compares to the mobile version. Felt far from being finished but had some QoL improvements over the previous game.
Tried Gord. Looks great and I like the aesthetic. Feels a bit too messy for a management game though. Reassigning people feels too clunky and I can never really tell if people are doing what I want them to.
Would you recommend?
Yeah at least trying I think. The quality is high enough that it's worth playing, but not sure it's for me.
Wanted to try picrel colony sim but the demo won't get past the loading screen. Probably a bit shit anyways.
I managed to launch it but it's really jank in current state so it's not worth it even as a demo. It seems heavily frostpunk inspired and outright ripping off a bunch of icons. Instead of coal in the generator you have to feed temple captives to stave off mystical fog basically. The story will probably have conquistadors rolling across the map or something..
Steamworld Build is enjoyable, although a bit classic.
Tried a game that had been on my radar a while - Bulwark - Falconeer Chronicles. Though certainly needs some development, I think it has a lot of potential and Endless-levels of art and sound direction
tried orbitect but the dialogue was too homosexual so it got uninstalled
Sins/homeworld like?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/406160/Dust_Fleet/
Yeah downloaded this, but haven't tried it yet. Probably will tomorrow.
Anyone try the gambit game?
Looks kinda nice.
Tried Kingdom Eighties to see how much they changed in this yet another take on the same formula (not a whole lot). The demo was very short. I might consider playing it once/if it gets ported to mobile.
Pic related is fun. Side-scrolling city-builder where every rat in the kingdom has their own cash, you need to pay them to haul dirt around and build anything. Cutesy, but you can slaughter rabbits for meat and leather.
>You DID pay your dues to the crown for the privilege of shitting in an outhouse, right?
>rats make moronic asiatic noises
yeah other than that it's okay
Steam summer sale soon. What you looking at?
A friend of mine suggested we play Divinity Original Sin 2. If the sale is good I'm gonna take it.
