It's probably the scale then. I'm not very good at macro stuff and I always feel like I completely lose control of the battle in SD2. I just compared the 1v1 maps between the two games and they're literally twice the size in the sequel, like god damn.
Fair enough. Having this scale with this much detail is the kind of thing I dreamed of when I was younger, but it does get overwhelming easilym
how is eugen still afloat? id think with their number of employees and the low playerbase, itd be hard to constantly pay for all the upkeep of a business.

Most don't want to acknowledge the fact that the majority of strategy fans don't care about some arbitrary balance, hence why the most popular mods are realism mods.
I think it depends on the strat game. Most wartroony fans would be happier if the game just full fledged turned into like a moba, whereas the average players who do stuff with friends or in 10v10s just like blowing shit up, the spectacle of war, and having neat little units from ww2 history they recognize and like.
