XVI sold over 4 mil in the same time frame and SE thought it underperformed. Imagine how much SE is shitting their pants over Rebirth selling only half as much.
>I think it did…well?
In what world? It is lagging behind FFXVI by a margin, a new entry that is looked at as not great performing, meanwhile FFVII is a established brand that Square Enix was hoping all the Remake parts would break all records.
Context is important. Remake did 3.5 million in the first few days, so Rebirth lost 40% of its, lets call them "dedicated" fans, who considered the franchise good enough to day one purchase. Between the backlash to the story changes and all the padding Remake has, Squares gamble on this trilogy definitely hasn't paid off. Now Rebirth will turn a profit, but it will fall far short of what a remake of one of the most popular games of all time should've done. I'm curious if they'll own up to the fact they fricked up by going on this path
it's global, just depends of the platform
cod, fifa, fortnite and gta 5 continue to be the most sold and played games on all platforms
https://newzoo.com/resources/trend-reports/pc-console-gaming-report-2024
It will sell more over time, inevitably once it hits PC, but not really better so to speak. It is lagging behind FF16, which was already lagging behind FF15. The brand is damaged. FF7 should've been a money printing machine for Square.
>FF's target audience will be in their 40s by the time XVII and XVIII come out >younger zoomers and gen A probably still won't care about the series
scary
>It is lagging behind FF16,
In Japan, by 200,000. Japan wouldn't matter if that number was 1million because the sales are down in Japan for all PS5 titles. The Japs only play Switch and Mobile now
>FF keeps selling less and less with every new game
It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die out because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it.
The console exclusive thing is the part killing them.
They should be releasing on PC from the start and exploiting the built in playerbase they have from FFXIV. Shill shit to those whales. You could easily squeeze out an extra million sales.
>It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die
when was the last good FF game? for me it was the original FF7, everything after was a mediocre jrpg
Square ignored Japan and chased after the West. Good thing the company is dying
There's lots of good ones but it's been a while since they've been great
The last GREAT FF game? For me it was IX. It was fricky in lots of places but it had the sauce, the underlying feeling that who made it had some really specific experience they were getting out onto the screen.
I'm not going to repeat my stupid essay on Remake and Rebirth but they feel like the MCU-adaptation of FF7. They're sincere in their fan-service but shallow in substance.
>The last GREAT FF game? For me it was IX.
yeah FF 6 7 and 9 are the great FF games and great jrpg in general
The series is still very overrated thanks to the high production value
>FF keeps selling less and less with every new game
It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die out because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it.
It's a shame that 15 years of subpar titles have finally caught up with them because FF7 Rebirth is easily their best game of the 21st century (low bar to clear, admittedly) and a landmark JRPG
Yeah, I mean the cutscenes aren't even identical to the cutscenes from the original game. How is this an acceptable game???
Gameplay? Huh? FF is a movie franchise right?
why do you feel the need to respond to such obvious troll bait
no one in their right mind thinks rebirth is the worst jrpg ever created, it's clearly just someone talking shit to get a (you).
>I can’t help but feel a little bad for them
Yeah.
Then you realize all the bullshit they've pulled over the decades and you don't feel bad for them anymore.
It's whatever. Shit like Dragon Quest, FFXIV, Fullmetal Alchemist, and their merchandise division (to name a few) will unfortunately keep them afloat forever.
I think it did…well? It probably will sell better over time.
I always said that no matter what the Rebirth sales were Ganker would call it a flop and people like you and me would call it a success. I'm glad to see I was right. It all balances out.
I don't care about the sales of Rebirth, because Rebirth is an absolute success in terms of being a fantastic game full of great characters, engaging combat, and so many goddamn side activities it rivals 20+ year running MMOs.
I cared a lot about the sales of Remake. I wanted everyone to know what a success it was. After SoP came out I decided I don't care about sales anymore and neither should anyone else.
they brought it upon themselves with every mainline FF since the 7th gen being mediocre-shit. I think FF7 RE:Make and Rebirth are incredible but can't blame people for being hesitant after XII, XV and XVI
>FF keeps selling less and less with every new game
It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die out because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it.
>It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die out because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it. >because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it.
No because they are shit. The only decent Jrpg Square made in the last 20 years is TWEWY
A huge Jrpg gay here and the FF series after 6 was always average at best. They only have high production value
>my job is to scoff at whatever the male audience wants to pay money for and remove it from the product
The industry will look back at these years the same way we look back at lobotomies from the last century now. "What in the frick were we thinking?", they will ask themselves.
don't, they deserve everything. 3 fricking lightning games, FF14 launch, FFXV multimedia "project" with an incomplete game, splitting the 7 remake (actually a fanfiction) into 3 games, FFXVI not having any real RPG elements.
>FF keeps selling less and less with every new game
It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die out because newer gens simply don't give a frick about it.
>new gens don't give a frick about it
old gens don't give a frick about modern FF either
Yeah, get hype for black choker to cover up daz3d genesis (CURRENT VERSION UPLOADED TO SMUTBASE)
and the same dogshit outfits you see in every unreal engine mod
For a big franchise like final fantasy VII and with how much effort went into it, even as a huge cloud gay I would concede it could have done a lot better.
So sick of exclusives, but I get why they do it. It isn't working like it used to though, and I will not be buying a PS5. The risk they take is that I forget about it when it releases for PC in two years.
>Coomer Sekiro
I'll pass. I hate playing as a woman and Sekiro had shit combat.
You ignorant twats really need to take a basic business class, it is not just about how much a product sells, but how much it was spend to get in the market, how much it cost to advertise it, and finally how much it was expected to sell in order to make a profit.
There are games that sold 5 million copies and it was a considered a bad track result, while there are games that sold 100 thousand copies that were considered a resounding success.
It's abysmal if true. XVI sold 3 million copies in the first week, and Square was disappointed. I would take the 2.1 million number with a grain of salt because it's daily active users, not sales, and I have no idea how the are measuring that.
2.21 million means next to nothing without knowing the budget.
Very naive calculation of 2.21m copies sold at $70 and Squeenix getting the touted "developers get 50% of the pie" would put revenue at $77.35m.
Quick search for FF7:Remake's budget gets $140-200m. If we just take the lower bound, then Squeenix is still short $62.65m on recouping Rebirth's budget.
It was not a success going off of available estimates.
What do you mean? The OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"? Does the article not say that? I don't open articles unless they are behind archives. But ok, pump those numbers to 4.42 million and Squeenix is just barely over the lower bound of $140m.
How much did snoy pay then?
I don't know. Is that available for Remake? I guess you could make an estimate off of the information gleaned from Epic's court documents. Say Snoy gave Squeenix $100m, then they would be in a better spot but not by much.
>OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"? Does the article not say that? I don't open articles unless they are behind archives
So you just blindly believe OPs whatever they say? Are you moronic?
>The OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"
Holy shit you're one of those idiots that literally just believes everything you see in a headline. You are astronomically stupid.
Ok, now that I've found an archive and deflections have been made, let's massage those numbers.
Let's just go ahead and be very generous and use the Remake sales reported in the article of 7 million copies. That would put Squeenix's revenue for Rebirth at $245m. 1.75x the lower bound and 1.225 the upper bound. A 1.225-1.75x investment is nowhere near a success.
Say Snoy gave $100m to Squeenix. Now it is a 1.75x-2.47x investment which is better at the upper bound but still not a success at the lower bound.
All of this is of course ignoring anything else that might lower the cut Squeenix gets and the fact that Rebirth has not been out for nearly as long as Remake.

>all >every >everyone
Black folk are in fact monkeys and you are indeed a midwit
Even if it isn't. FF7R is not just a one and done game. It's sticking around and it's going to keep selling as it stays relevant. People are going to still be buying the first part with talks of Rebirth and the same will happen again next time.
I mean you're here still talking about it so clearly it is moron. People are talking about remake part 1 more than they are XVI which came out after it as Rebirth is keeping it relevant.
I know no argument I make will make you think differently but I'll just give you a practical example. marvel's spiderman 2 ended up costing almost double than what marvel's spiderman did and needed to sell 7.2 million copies to make even, not even counting that sony needed to pay for the PS5 bundles.
The one where Square Enix were disappointed with Tomb "15 million sales" Raider 2012
The only difference is that Final Fantasy is one of their flagship IPs, so they can't just go out there and be all like "lmao our flagship IP is a flop rofl!" They'll simply stay silent on the matter and then try again.
>Is this the thread where we pretend like 2 million copies isn't a success?
2million probably isn't even the break-even point anon. We know BOTW had to sell 2million to break even. You think AAA Open World Final Fantasy crammed with cinematic set-pieces and full VA for every single character (including minor NPCs) both in and out of cutscenes has the same development costs?
That depends on how much money they put into the game itself and marketing. 2 million is a lot, but if they didn't recoup their costs, then it's a falure
It's one of the highest rated demos on PSN right now. Possibly the highest rated period but I'd have to check. The people who actually played it and reviewed it loved it.
What's there to be fair about? DD still a niche franchise that made it to 2million in far less time than Rebirth.
A game that's on playstation, the second best selling console currently on the market as well as using the Final Fantasy brand, let alone the FF7 brand.
Final Fantasy and especially Final Fantasy 7 at one point actually meant something to consoomers.
>2 million copies isn't bad
Yeah it's not bad, it's disastrous. This isn't some pixelshit indie game. It's the second installment of the most hyped and demanded remake in history that SE has been teasing since the FFX days.
>sells 2.21 million copies
moron, it didn't sell 2 millions. It had 2 million active players at some point. Not the same thing. Which mean that it must have sold at least 3-4 millions because not everyone will ever be online at the same time.
>It had 2 million active players at some point
lmao no it fricking didn't. You'd have to sell 20+ million copies like Elden Ring or P*lworld to have that many concurrent players. And SE would have been blasting news like that on every available outlet.
I agree, so we can probably assume these people are stupid and their data is complete horse shit. If you use steam as a similar platform for tracking players, 2 million DAU would means it would have sold several millions at the bare minimum. There's now ay Square wouldn't talk about this.
>Shift Up hasn’t publicly disclosed the number of users who tried the demo
So why should i care about what other people say? >Square never commented on sales either
Why should I hold these people's word above the devs?
>third party analyst >"the devs never said what the figure was, but-" >not understanding daily users vs units sold
Remakes being shit aside, this thread is pure moronation.
I'm a brainlet, can someone explain how do these work:
1. Where did the 2.21 million number come from when SE hasn't even released the data?
2. Why is she using DAU (daily active users) as a concrete metric, when typically in gacha games it typically represents the instances when players log in. For example, if you log in twice, then your DAU for that day is 2. Additionally, DAU doesn't equate to cumulative sales, as it measures only one day. The actual figures can vary significantly, potentially being much higher or even lower than the projection.
3. What is Ampere analysis, and why is it the first time I've heard of them?
I know it's just an example, but it's likely similar for PSN, in the sense that analytics track the frequency of PSN account access to the game for that day
>Where did the 2.21 million number come from when SE hasn't even released the data?
It's their personal guess as to the figure, they have no access to the data which would actually tell them a concrete figure so they basically just make it up. This is how all analysts function. The only stupid part to it all is when idiots act like it's real data, and when these analysts act like it also real data.
Possibly signficant more than that. If you measured it on a fricking Tuesday that would mean over 50% of all total sales would be playing it on a workday for a 100 hr+ jrpg? Yeah I'm not buying that.
Also who the frick uses "daily active players" as a metric for now mobileshit/non MMO games? This whole things reeks of clickbait and OP (massive homosexual that he is) probably wrote this trash himself.
Unless you think 100% of all purchases were playing the game at the exact time the measurements were done then yeah, it would have sold way more than that.
>2 million active players >active players are usually 30-40% of total customers >rebirth is a massive hit
I look forward to the anti-rebirth copeposting from jealous troons and my best friend barry
>pumping numbers with made up statistics >the numbers would still be considered bad by SE's own standards
The only hope FF7R has is for a phenomenal PC release. I don't even hate the game, I bought Remake when it released. I just wasn't impressed and didn't care for the story changes. I might skip the second and third parts altogether and this is coming from someone who's childhood was defined by FF7. It's a disaster. No point in pretending it isn't.
It has the same godawful issues with padding, non-existent exploration where you just have identical checklists for every area, Chadley is insufferable and actively took away from the world building, and the ending is just more mystery box garbage,
The part that annoys me is that I was fully onboard when they announced a trilogy, but now that I forced myself through both games they 100% could've made Midgar to Forgotten Captial one game if they cut so much of the filler

No, they had to fill the game's leight with Ubislop's gameplay, otherwise they won't be happy.
Don't listen to these homosexuals, everything that was bad about Remake persists into Rebirth. Wait for a big sale at best after it comes to PC, but this shit is not worth full price at all
There's no way that's an accurate figure, that would make it more popular than a shit ton of other games on PSN right now, Like DD2, and the game's trailing off hard.
Isn’t that still really high? I mean I would think the game has 2 million sales total, not 2 million unique users in 24 hours. The original point still stands - that metric would suggest totals sales is much higher than 2 million.
It's probably not that much higher, otherwise Square would be bragging about it.
Probably not even over 3 million, which is a disaster for a game like this.
>Isn’t that still really high?
Yes, very high, but neo-Ganker is full of zoomers who, by "virtue" of not being white, tend to possess a sub-80 iq and have difficulties understanding the English language.
If the analysis is accurate (although I doubt it, as it was done by a random site), then FF7R has most likely already sold more than 2 million copies, considering that 2 million is just the peak daily active users (DAU) of a single day.
The actual figures to be at least double that by now
How would they even know this figure? They don't have access to SIE's data. It's clearly their estimate.
Also there's no way this game has 2 million DAU, since the article says it has increased to that point recently, not that it was at that point at launch. That would mean that rise of the Ronin has a much higher DAU if you go by sales chart positioning on PSN, which is definitely not the case.
Everyone who would've actually gave a balanced review on the game tapped out after Remake being a turd. Its only compilationgays who relish in Squares autism that are actually playing it and giving it inflated scores despite listing the multitude of flaws that plagued Remake returning again. They should purge perfect 10 scores just as much as they purged all the 1s of the godawful ending leaked
>i tapped out of Remake because i'm an autistic pedant, therefore everyone else did as well!

rebirth is legitimately one of the best games since gaming went to the HD era, and even before that.

It's not even the best Square ARPG.
No that would be SoP but SoP is a team ninja game not a SE game.
The only other ARPG I can think of is the nier series and lol@ thinking the nier games have better combat than Rebirth.
This
Same reason why the XIII sequels sell badly but score well. Each game filters out people with taste, leaving only gluttons for garbage and high tolerance for dogshit in their mouths.
You fricking moron, 2 million sales on multiple platforms vs 2 million daily active users (not sales) on one platform. This is ignoring the fact that this clearly isn't right and it's more likely far lower than these people are claiming it is.
You're the only one coping right now, and I don't even like final fantasy.
>bought into the versus XIII hype
Then there's a moron like me, who bought the game for Luna.
So on that front I was massively disappointed. But at least I had Ignis there to carry the game.
I mean yeah, it's achievable easily if you sell 3-4, even 5m units.
But that would put Rebirth WAY higher than both Remake and 16 in terms of sales
My point is Square would have absolutely made an official statement if that was the case
>we took the DAUs of a demo and extrapolated the total sales for the game based on those numbers.
A literal nothing article that is trying to bait engagement by (not so)subtly being the 'first' article to 'announce' the sales of FF7R2.
>2.21 million daily active users, on launch
That doesn't mean 2.21 million sales, it can't. There's no way each sale was playing the game at the same time whenever this was measured; "DAU" would imply that the actual sales number for FF7 is higher than 2.21 million.
That would require Square Enix to not manage their tentpole releases like morons, anon. Them getting shorter guaranteed Sony exclusivity periods with each game has to be a Sony-side thing at this point, because any halfway smart dev would've begun work to get a PC port ready as close to the exclusivity expiry date as possible (or at the very least a trailer and promotional material), especially after taking notice of what a shitshow software sales have consistently been on PS5.
And if FF7R2 only did crack ~2.5-3M sales... That also gives some hilarious perspective on just how fricking warped and egotistical Koei Tecmo's 5M expectation was for Rise of the Ronin.
>https://gameworldobserver.com/2024/04/11/stellar-blade-demo-690k-dau-doubled-ffvii-rebirth >Stellar blade hits 690k plates on the demo and FF7 sells 2.21 million copies
Based. Peeminists btfo
Go based, get praised
it's a average game that you don't see anyone talking about it, most likely it sold very little and nintendo will never make a new game about peach again, and yet it outsold stellar blade
>2,21 million
what the frick square
At $49 per copy sold (removing the licensing fee)
That's $108 million
Dear fricking god that's bad. That's likely not break even
FF7 Remake cost $144 million
Rebirth is larger, longer, with more side shit, larger maps. The only mitigating factor on cost is that the staff and tools are the same so there's less onboarding cost
What the frick Square
Read the article and/or learn what English words mean you colossal fricking moron. Leave the board and don't come back until you read and speak English fluently.
not him, but I see that this website makes reference to this other one https://www.ampereanalysis.com/insight/stellar-blade-demo-numbers-impress-but-will-the-hype-convert-to-paying-players
and the only thing it is showing are statistics and estimates, according to numbers, no one says that what they estimate could happen either >launch peak DAUs for Stellar Blade are projected
what happens is that they are giving a bad projection in short time of launch, for example helldivers 2 had half of those player numbers, being that it was a multiplatform launch on ps5 and pc, and just one month later it was one of the best selling games, even selling more on pc
it's better to wait a month with stellar blade to really know its impact and what it sold
I know it's daily active players but let's even extend it based on the trophies of people who beat the game
24.7% of players have beaten the game. So let's say that the total number of players still playing (presuming this 2.21 million figure is up to date as of April 11th 2024) represents the number of people who have yet to beat the game, the other 75%.
That still brings it to sub 3 million sales. 2.94 million units. Then the revenue is about $144 million. That's still probably under the break-even point
>everyone playing the game not only plays it every single day but played it on the exact day these measurements were taken
Please stop being so stupid, Jesus Christ.
For new games, yes. People will generally play every day or almost every day
Moreover, it should tell you something that a new IP game from a smaller Korean dev is having more traction on their demo than Square's flagship game for the year
>For new games, yes. People will generally play every day or almost every day
Fricking wrong. Not even the biggest, most popular, live service games in the world maintain a DAU to license ratio of 1/2. The fact that you think this would somehow be possible for a single player jrpg is not moronic enough you decide to jump face first into the moron pool by unironically claiming that a ratio of 3/4 is not only possible but actually likely. You are stupid, you have never worked in this industry, and you have no idea wtf you are talking about.

It's pretty likely that FF7 Rebirth sold like shit because Square was quick to announce milestones being hit by FF16 or Remake within 1-3 weeks.
Also, re-read the graph. It's PEAK Daily Active Users. Meaning, the HIGHEST that Daily Active Users were during March. So it represents, very likely, the maximum number of players during the beginning of March (right after the 29th)

First, the Square stock price was dropping before Remake's sales came out
Secondly, based on Remake and XVI's performance, you'd think that Square wouldn't feel bad if the sales of Rebirth were at least the same, if not a little more.
The only reason they wouldn't report the sales rn is if they were equal or worse than Remake's/XVI's over a similar time frame. It's been a month, a long time frame from launch compared to how long it took Square to report Remake's or Rebirth's sales figures
You can't assume that they would just share the numbers one way or another because the SE that existed when Remake and 16 released no longer exists.
They had a MASSIVE internal staffing shake up just before and during the launch of Rebirth. For all we know the new head honcho in charge said 'were no longer releasing sales numbers' and that was the end of that.

They have shaken things up but their marketing department is still going to brag about their games hitting major milestones.

As they stated before even 7R came out - they're in these games for the longtail sales. 7R sold like 3-3.5 million in the first month and has since doubled those sales figures as they recently reported in Nov 2023 that it crossed 7 million.
>has since doubled those sales figures as they recently reported in Nov 2023 that it crossed 7 million.
Counter argument:
A huge number of those sales post-launch-month are from the fact that they were giving it away as part of PS+ in 2021 as well as the Steam port
The issue is that, past the launch month, we have NO idea how much Square is earning per-copy of their games sold. So selling an extra 3.5 million copies doesn't mean much when the revenue per copy is $15 or so. Like obviously more copies is better but the reality is that without price drops, discounts or bundles/giveaways, most AAA games basically flatline on sales after the first month
>are from the fact that they were giving it away as part of PS+ in 2021
They don't track those as sales. >as well as the Steam port
Whats your point with this exactly? That when it gets ported to other machines than the PS4/5 is gets more of a fanbase?
No shit part of the sales are going to come from the steam edition, just like part of the sales came from the egs edition.
>So selling an extra 3.5 million copies doesn't mean much when the revenue per copy is $15 or so.
The lowest the game has ever gone on sale for is $35.99 usd. Even at 50% taken out (which is no where near the actual case, it's more like 10-20% depending) it's still above 15$ per copy.
You have quite literally no idea what you're talking about.
>They don't track those as sales.
How do you know that? PS+ Freebies had to individually be compensated for by Sony for each copy redeemed >Whats your point with this exactly? That when it gets ported to other machines than the PS4/5 is gets more of a fanbase?
My point is that after the first month, the game's revenue is going to end up being way WAY less, even if the total copies shipped/sold goes up >The lowest the game has ever gone on sale for is $35.99 usd
The game itself got a price cut. FF7 Remake on its own is $30 on PS4 these days. Intergrade is $40. And they're literally having a sale right now where Remake on PS4 is $15 and Intergrade is $16 (where I'm pulling the figure from rn)
Even prior to the September 2023 milestone report, Remake's lowest was $24, Intergrade was $40
JRPGs not called Pokemon don't have longterm sales. They sell big at launch and then they plummet until they slash the price, at which point they're not making nearly as much per sale.
Counterpoint since you clearly didn't read it in the first post: FF7R sold 3.5 mil in the first week and passed 7 million in Nov 2023.
That's absolutely having longterm sales.
Do you want to know what happens when you tell everyone for 6+ years you're devving the FF7 Remake then deliver the FF7 Reimagining but only after you lie to them to get their 60+ bigbois?
Because that's what the frick happens. Don't lie to mother frickers on the FIRST game in a TRILOGY then expect them to come back for seconds or thirds SE you dirty stupid ass mother frickers.
>mfw XVI clowning on FF7 Reimagining part 2 as it damn well should
I'm conflicted on this because although it absolutely was a dumb idea. I do think it came from a genuine place of wanting to try something new to surprise the players as opposed to false advertising, it was just executed really badly. Where I will criticize them is that, if they felt the need to expand the story, why not shit out a 1:1 remake of 7 first, give the fanbois and newcomers a good entry point, then do FF 7-2 post Advent Children to milk the franchise once you've roped everyone back in. As it stands you've just burnt all good faith for some OGs, and Zoomers now have to play 3 games just to parse wtf is happening in Rebirth to the fullest, which judging by the sales their clearly don't give a frick to do
Resident Evil 2 Remake is the gold standard for what a remake is, go play through it because trying to explain it would be too annoying.
>don't change the main plot >remix shit but still have the stuff from the originals mostly >add new things that work within the game like the sherry section >upgrade it's gameplay which is largely the reason why you made the remake in the first place >try to retain what the originals did well like atmosphere, music, ect >add good ideas that function well like nearly everything about Mr X
I say this shit while lambasting garbage like the Dead Spess Remake that just ends up being DIE initiative trash with some mod tier changes making it worse than the original and not buying the RE4 remake because it didn't need to exist because the Gamecube version of the game was already the ideal RE4 experience. At a bare minimum effort was put into the RE4R by changing a variety of bullshit to make it standout but it didn't need to be made because RE4 didn't suffer from technical limitations like RE2 OG did. Brief mention for the moronation of the Last of Us Remake which is the biggest "Why" in gaming.

You will never get the remake you wanted, FF7R part 3 will be happening, will also not be a remake, and there's thing you can do about it. Get over it already. It's been 4+ years. You don't need to experience the same shit you already did 20+ years ago because you're a manchild who needs his nostalgia-kick. The shonen anime story that you're emotionally-attached to is not that sacred.
I can understand being upset if you got rugpulled when Remake came out.
But people b***hing in 2024 that the remake trilogy isn't actually a remake and that it's not fair they broke it up into a trilogy just really need to reassess their life.

7R sycophants are embarrassing. Like why are you here, replying to yourself instead of playing your masterpiece? right because you’re poor and watched it on YouTube like everyone else. Your not even arguing for a game anymore just a shitty convoluted shonen you didn't even pay to see which has reflected in sales numbers.
i am literally playing rebirth right now
i have over 100 hours of play time and there's still so much to do

I turned on the trilogy after 7R1 honeydicked us into thinking it would be completely different only for 7R2 to be 98% similar to the original. I have no interest in playing another full game that plays out almost exactly like the original with some minor variations until the ending. Boring.

>Keep in mind the digital version came with a PS5 copy of Remake and Intermission for free.
I do not think that there were a lot of people who were waiting 4 years to play FF7 Remake
>intermission
Yes, that was mentioned. And not a single person who bought the PS4 version of Remake was able to pkay Intermission because Square are gays.
In other words there was almost no reason whatsoever to buy Rebirth physical.
>Did you miss the "PS5 version part?"
But they gave out a free PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version, they announced that with the PS5 version
The only value of buying a new copy for the PS5 directly is Intergrade but that's also been out for 2-3 years already, nobody waited that long to get it
>But they gave out a free PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version

Okay but I doubt people would buy the double pack to get the PS5 version of a game they already own, especially when it would be cheaper to just pick up Intergrade on the cheap on sale when the price was cut to $40 or $16 on sale

What are you talking about? The Rebirth double pack was $70. Same price. So yes if you only onwned Remake through ps+, and wanted to get Rebirth anyway, you were 100% buying digital so you could get the PS5 version of Remake and Intermission.

>The Rebirth double pack was $70
Ah, my mistake
Though you WERE able to upgrade your PS+ version. The catch was you had to buy Intergrade.
But that doesn't generally change the issue which is that you're claiming the digital twin-pack of Rebirth sold a lot more because it appealed some odd niche of people who met one of the following criteria >did not buy FF7 Remake on PS4 at any point >did not claim FF7 Remake as part of PS+ in 2021 >did not get FF7 Intergrade/Intermission DLC during the 2 years it's been out
It just seems odd to imply that there is some group of people who are even passingly interested in Rebirth that would not have gotten it already when it was on sale to $30-40 on PS4/PS5/Steam over 2-4 years
Maybe not, but the Rebirth+Remake bundle was #10 on the PSN store at launch, so clearly there are a good amount of people buying that edition of the game.
Like
it also comes with the Yuffie DLC for free IIRC
said, it came with the Yuffie DLC for free which I doubt many people went back and played when it first came out.
To be honest, I don't really care if Square considers Rebirth a financial success or not. I enjoyed my 90 hours with the game. And I hope they blow more money on the last part of the trilogy, which I will likely also enjoy. I don't own stock in Square so I don't care about their finances. I just enjoy Final Fantasy games.
Posts like this always serve to remind us that we're not alone on this board and that there are people that genuinely enjoy video games and aren't just here to argue endlessly about nonsense like sales figures or stock prices or exclusivities.
>entire board is so desperate for everything to be a flop that their malformed underdeveloped rotted brains can understand the difference between “daily active users” and “total lifetime sales”
It’s funny how moronic I feel in my day to day life but somehow this braindead board makes me feel like genius amongst barely sapient chimpanzees.
>the difference between “daily active users” and “total lifetime sales”
it doesn't matter mate. ampere isn't a good source and they quite literally make shit up. they never disclose how they got their numbers and 90% of their shit is >here rebirth totally got these numbers and stella blade would have the exact same growth in our "projections" >source? us
really the fault lies solely in how visionless and directionless the FF series is
they went for some bullshit about making it a choice for each new FF game director to decide what kind of game they'd make but all its done is atomize the franchise and kill off staying appeal for fans.
Look at Atlus and IS, they have their formula and just keep building on top off shit. They get moderate successes but crucially don't spend as much as SE does on FF games. Imagine that sort of brand appeal and consistency but on SE budgets.
Really the moment SE wasn't pushing the cutting edge of graphics anymore was the deathknell of FF, since that's really all that made the franchise sell
>totk fans
This might be the only good answer. >collectively have an INSANE chip on their shoulders over not winning GotY >resort to shareholder cheerleading >pathetically try to steal BotW's accolades and "Ganker meltdowns" for itself >shit on the entire rest of the series to prop their game up
Idk, but they are hands down the most schizophrenic. If you cross them and they will find a post similar to yours on the internet and assign you a name and favorite videogame based on that.
Rune Blade + Genji Gloves + Magic Up + MP Absorb + Enemy Skill is God tier.
6. It's a LOT easier than Remakes hard mode in terms of the story fights, but those fricking side quests that dump like half a dozen to a dozen jacked up intel mobs at you are insane.
Eh...I'm not sure I agree anon. I platinumed both games but there are some quite bullshit bosses still in front of you if you're on chapter 6. Gi Nattak is an absolute homosexual on hard mode.
Playing Nier Automata for the first time because people kept bringing it up with comparisons to Eve and SB. I like how 2B is a soldier and solely focused on the mission at hand. I want to be like her
>they still haven't fixed spamming Brumal over an ATB ward
I can't not do it because it's so stupidly strong, but it's also so stupidly broken that i have to imagine the devs just don't know about it.
You literally have infinite ATB and can spam -aga spells on your other 2 party members constantly because by the time the cast is finished the ATB bar is fully replenished.
>but it's also so stupidly broken that i have to imagine the devs just don't know about it.
Good, because the vast majority of Legendary and Brutal challenges are not fun and any way to cheese them to make them go away faster is a blessing.
Use it with Quakeaga for maximum "frick yo challenge homie" effect.
Remember to link comet with synergy on Aerith at the same time and that Yuffie has her doppleganger summoned and is standing on arcane ward when you cast Quakeaga. That results in 6 Quakeaga going off at once, even more if linked to magnify plus the comet coming down.
And make sure your PS5 is arranged to allow for maximum airflow because doing that causes it to scream for mercy.
how the frick is anyone complementing this game when the input lag is so horrendous?
fricking feels like I can take a nap between hitting a button and seeing a response
never seen a game this fricking bad in this regard and it's an action game
Square’s fall from grace is so bad I can’t help but feel a little bad for them
I think it did…well? It probably will sell better over time.
Yep, typical game always selling during sales
XVI sold over 4 mil in the same time frame and SE thought it underperformed. Imagine how much SE is shitting their pants over Rebirth selling only half as much.
On multiple consoles, anon.
XVI and Rebirth are both PS5 exclusive lmao
It takes one google search to not be a moron.
>On multiple consoles, anon.
>FF XVI
someone doesn't know his roman numbers
FF16 has only been released on PS5. The PC version has been "in progress" since the initial release. It didn't release on any other console.
moron
Helldivers 2 outsold Stellar Blade and Dragon's Dogma 2h

Uhhh based? What happened?
It will sell more over time, inevitably once it hits PC, but not really better so to speak. It is lagging behind FF16, which was already lagging behind FF15. The brand is damaged. FF7 should've been a money printing machine for Square.
children are growing up on fortnite and gachas and battle royale. people stopped taking square enix seriously in the ps3/x360 era.
>muh se should be printing money
>muh se should be soooo popular right now
shut up already jesus christ
FF15 still sold better.
ff15 is probably why the brand is damaged if we're being completely honest
>Not ff13
ff13 sold very well
also japanese children are addicted to apex legends not square enix games like they used to be
ff16*
poeple bought 13 and 15 and were let down and then stopped buying the newer games.
fool me once fool me twice etc im sure you get it
12 too, it wasn't a bad game but it had no buzz whatsoever
i bought 12 and then my friend stole it so i never finished it
>sells an additional million after 5 weeks and doubles it sales since release after the PC release
It's not just children. Final Fantasy hasn't been a big deal since FF10. I think 13 dropped the ball and 15 didn't really pick it back up.
>FF's target audience will be in their 40s by the time XVII and XVIII come out
>younger zoomers and gen A probably still won't care about the series
Their fault for releasing the game in 3parts on top of console exclusive. I cant even be excited for FF7rebirth because I still havent played remake.
Rebirth is good anon. Remake is out on Pc so you can play it there
Do I need to play Crisis Core too? I played the pirated copy of remake last year and I stopped during the fight with the bald Turk guy.
Well honest CC just watch the cutscenes on YouTube but I do recommend playing Remake before rebirth
Crisis Core is pretty awesome but no, not required to play it.
The console exclusive thing is the part killing them.
They should be releasing on PC from the start and exploiting the built in playerbase they have from FFXIV. Shill shit to those whales. You could easily squeeze out an extra million sales.
they keep trying to reinvent the series, while the indie jrpg scene keeps growing more popular.
>It's a weird feeling watching a massive franchise you grew up with just slowly die
when was the last good FF game? for me it was the original FF7, everything after was a mediocre jrpg
Square ignored Japan and chased after the West. Good thing the company is dying
Rebirth, a month ago.
>Rebirth, a month ago.
a very mediocre jrpg but not bad for an FF game
Did you play it or a you a Black person homosexual who follows what the morons on Ganker says?
Yeah. I think FF has put itself into a corner that it can't get out of, and it's basically doomed in a lot of ways to increasingly slim profit margins
it happens every generation
the elden riBlack folk will be seething that games like that don't sell anymore
in about 10 years*
You could've said Dark Souls and not revealed yourself as a complete moron, but alas
elden ring is the genre defining game now you stupid Black person
It's a shame that 15 years of subpar titles have finally caught up with them because FF7 Rebirth is easily their best game of the 21st century (low bar to clear, admittedly) and a landmark JRPG
thats some serious cope
Rebirth is a great game, though.
Yeah, it's alright if you like open world checklists, clunky combat, tedious minigames, and if you don't really care about the story.
you didnt play the game.
It’s the worst JRPG ever created and you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself if you thought otherwise.
I always said that no matter what the Rebirth sales were Ganker would call it a flop and people like you and me would call it a success. I'm glad to see I was right. It all balances out.
Ganker is genuinely filled with moronic people
I don't care about the sales of Rebirth, because Rebirth is an absolute success in terms of being a fantastic game full of great characters, engaging combat, and so many goddamn side activities it rivals 20+ year running MMOs.
I cared a lot about the sales of Remake. I wanted everyone to know what a success it was. After SoP came out I decided I don't care about sales anymore and neither should anyone else.
Based
they brought it upon themselves with every mainline FF since the 7th gen being mediocre-shit. I think FF7 RE:Make and Rebirth are incredible but can't blame people for being hesitant after XII, XV and XVI
Brought what on themselves? Their record profits? Lmao go check their revenue in the long term it has tripled recently
>Their record profits?
where?
Why is XII and XVI on there and not XIII.
Never argue with evil.
Only destroy it.
>my job is to scoff at whatever the male audience wants to pay money for and remove it from the product
The industry will look back at these years the same way we look back at lobotomies from the last century now. "What in the frick were we thinking?", they will ask themselves.
don't, they deserve everything. 3 fricking lightning games, FF14 launch, FFXV multimedia "project" with an incomplete game, splitting the 7 remake (actually a fanfiction) into 3 games, FFXVI not having any real RPG elements.
>new gens don't give a frick about it
old gens don't give a frick about modern FF either
hoping for Squeenix to die on my lifetime
Why?
The outfits are going to be crazy!

They really need to bring this shit to PC.
The mods for this will be a game changer.
Yeah, get hype for black choker to cover up daz3d genesis (CURRENT VERSION UPLOADED TO SMUTBASE)
and the same dogshit outfits you see in every unreal engine mod
One thing I don’t understand is if it’s PlayStation exclusive why not sell FF7Rebirth in a PS5 bundle ?
SIE doesn't have the right to make that decision unilaterally.
They'd have to negotiate with Square about what they'd pay them for each bundle sold
It probably would have sold more with bundles
Yes but unless Sony let themselves get shafted, those extra copies sold in bundles would be bringing in much less revenue
so not just low effort coomshit, but easy low effort coomshit
Is this the thread where we pretend like 2 million copies isn't a success?
For a big franchise like final fantasy VII and with how much effort went into it, even as a huge cloud gay I would concede it could have done a lot better.
its also a PS5 exclusive at the moment. wait until it releases on pc. for a console which nobody owns, 2 million is really good
It is but it should have sold more especially if it was critically acclaim
Square enix is the company that said Hitman and Tomb raider selling 5 million each was a flop, so yeah 2 million is pretty bad
FFVII will sell long-term, though. It's got legs.
Also making it PS5 exclusive was dumb.
So sick of exclusives, but I get why they do it. It isn't working like it used to though, and I will not be buying a PS5. The risk they take is that I forget about it when it releases for PC in two years.
>keks in Japanese
>hasn't been in the top ten in weeks
>legs
>FFVII will sell long-term, though. It's got legs.
Perhaps if you mean legs of a crippled orphan with rickets
FF used to be a system seller and got 5M+ easily.
You ignorant twats really need to take a basic business class, it is not just about how much a product sells, but how much it was spend to get in the market, how much it cost to advertise it, and finally how much it was expected to sell in order to make a profit.
There are games that sold 5 million copies and it was a considered a bad track result, while there are games that sold 100 thousand copies that were considered a resounding success.
found the britbong
Final Fantasy selling 2 mil is pathetic.
It's a good thing that nothing says the game sold 2 million copies. You idiots need to learn how to read.
A thread where ESLs struggle to discern the different between daily active users and total sales as well
It's abysmal if true. XVI sold 3 million copies in the first week, and Square was disappointed. I would take the 2.1 million number with a grain of salt because it's daily active users, not sales, and I have no idea how the are measuring that.
I mean if its a big success why it doesnt have a lot of futa porn though?
2.21 million means next to nothing without knowing the budget.
Very naive calculation of 2.21m copies sold at $70 and Squeenix getting the touted "developers get 50% of the pie" would put revenue at $77.35m.
Quick search for FF7:Remake's budget gets $140-200m. If we just take the lower bound, then Squeenix is still short $62.65m on recouping Rebirth's budget.
It was not a success going off of available estimates.
>2.21m copies sold
Not what that says. Learn English.
What do you mean? The OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"? Does the article not say that? I don't open articles unless they are behind archives. But ok, pump those numbers to 4.42 million and Squeenix is just barely over the lower bound of $140m.
I don't know. Is that available for Remake? I guess you could make an estimate off of the information gleaned from Epic's court documents. Say Snoy gave Squeenix $100m, then they would be in a better spot but not by much.
How so?
>The OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"? Does the article not say that?
Read it, you dumb Black person.
Why are you still posting your fake math as though you have any idea what you’re talking about?
Where is it fake? I'm calculating against available estimates and purported industry cut percentages.
What parts exactly do you disagree with?
>OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"? Does the article not say that? I don't open articles unless they are behind archives
So you just blindly believe OPs whatever they say? Are you moronic?
>The OP says "FF7 sells 2.21 million copies"
Holy shit you're one of those idiots that literally just believes everything you see in a headline. You are astronomically stupid.
I told you guys this would happen to Ganker when zoomers and other browns were allowed to start posting here. No one wanted to listen to me..
>This is a Zoomer problem!
Go to /misc/, which is all mid 30's and early 40's, and watch them take every headline and sourceless screenshot as gospel. This is a problem with information overload that the internet causes, it happens to everyone online.
>all
>every
>everyone
Black folk are in fact monkeys and you are indeed a midwit
How much did snoy pay then?
Your math is cooked
>Quick search for FF7:Remake's budget gets $140-200m
Why do they need to be so fricking expensive?
Even if it isn't. FF7R is not just a one and done game. It's sticking around and it's going to keep selling as it stays relevant. People are going to still be buying the first part with talks of Rebirth and the same will happen again next time.
>it's going to keep selling as it stays relevant
But it's clearly not relevant.
I mean you're here still talking about it so clearly it is moron. People are talking about remake part 1 more than they are XVI which came out after it as Rebirth is keeping it relevant.
No, lol. It's a major flop for Final Fantasy.
2m is FLOPPA.
The article also does not say that the game sold 2.21 million.
ESLs go and stay go. You have to go back.
>implying 2 million isn't a flop for something big like FF7
anyon...
It obviously is.
Judging by the low quality of the game it was also cheap to make so they most likely already made good amount of profit.
Is this the thread where we pretend that sales don't matter, but also 2 million is good?
schrodinger's flop.
Yes, sales had to be better than their previous game, not the opposite
>150 million budget
>sells the same amount as some indie game on a platform that has 50 million install base
>2 million copies isn't a success
a success is relative. rebirth seems expensive enough to warrant 5 millkion copies to break even
>5 million to break even on a game where over half the assets already existed
This board loses more of my respect each day
I know no argument I make will make you think differently but I'll just give you a practical example. marvel's spiderman 2 ended up costing almost double than what marvel's spiderman did and needed to sell 7.2 million copies to make even, not even counting that sony needed to pay for the PS5 bundles.
The original FF7 sold 2 million copies in Japan alone at launch and cost only $60 million to make in 1997.
in a sane, sustainable world, you'd be right. we don't live in that world. we live in one run by billionaire financiers instead
>billionaire financiers
just say israelites anon
The one where Square Enix were disappointed with Tomb "15 million sales" Raider 2012
The only difference is that Final Fantasy is one of their flagship IPs, so they can't just go out there and be all like "lmao our flagship IP is a flop rofl!" They'll simply stay silent on the matter and then try again.
>Is this the thread where we pretend like 2 million copies isn't a success?
2million probably isn't even the break-even point anon. We know BOTW had to sell 2million to break even. You think AAA Open World Final Fantasy crammed with cinematic set-pieces and full VA for every single character (including minor NPCs) both in and out of cutscenes has the same development costs?
well its a good thing then that Rebirth is closing in on 7million in sales :*~~
People got triggered
That depends on how much money they put into the game itself and marketing. 2 million is a lot, but if they didn't recoup their costs, then it's a falure
4 million would be insane for Stellar Blade.
>over 1.5 million people preordered the game without even playing the free demo
We deserve modern gaming
>preordered
Never stated.
Oh shit, yeah, those are FF7 sales
Nevermind
>potential
how do you know people won't drop it because demo is bad
It's one of the highest rated demos on PSN right now. Possibly the highest rated period but I'd have to check. The people who actually played it and reviewed it loved it.
It says active users so it could have sold more
>Rebirth sold worse than Dragons Dogma 2.
Holy frick, I wish Square could go under already.
To be fair DD 2 is on all consoles
What's there to be fair about? DD still a niche franchise that made it to 2million in far less time than Rebirth.
A game that's on playstation, the second best selling console currently on the market as well as using the Final Fantasy brand, let alone the FF7 brand.
Final Fantasy and especially Final Fantasy 7 at one point actually meant something to consoomers.
Bigger chances people will buy it
>What's there to be fair about?
The difference is that I bought DD2 because it's on PC while I'll be waiting a year for them to put Rebirth on PC
Dragons Dogma is on all consoles anon
>dd2 is on every system
>barely outsells a PS5 exclusive
kwab
That's a disaster considering that PS5 exclusive is one of the most hyped and anticipated games of all time.
>niche literally who IP outsells a massive normalgay IP
pretty good for DD2
Final Fantasy hasn't been a normalgay IP for like 20 years
it's an eternal normal gay name
Japan's Halo
not played by everyone, past it's prime, but everyone knows the name
>Coomer Sekiro
I'll pass. I hate playing as a woman and Sekiro had shit combat.
Holy shit. If that's accurate no wonder SE has been dead silent about Rebirth sales.
There has been a lack of sexy ladies in gaming, so this is the people's rebellion.
2 million copies isn't bad but I think people were expecting a more 'true to the original' FF7 remake, not a re-interpenetration of the it.
Adding in story elements (Wraiths) and changing the events of the story (Cid doesn't fly you to Cosmo Canyon) probably hurt sales.
>and changing the events of the story (Cid doesn't fly you to Cosmo Canyon)
god, the "fans" are so fricking moronic holy shit
>2 million copies isn't bad
Yeah it's not bad, it's disastrous. This isn't some pixelshit indie game. It's the second installment of the most hyped and demanded remake in history that SE has been teasing since the FFX days.
We can pretend it isn't a failure, if you'd like.
meant for
I have no fricking idea how that other post ended up there.
My friend bought Remake thinking it would be the whole game. He did not get Rebirth
Did your friend not pay attention when they announced that it was going to be 3 parts ?
Nope. He's a normie who will maybe watch an announcement trailer for a game at most
>Non-businessmen Gankertards don't realize it's a bad thing for a remake of a single game to be a trilogy across three generations of consoles
Square did it to themselves.
Normies don't read games news, square fricked up trying to triple dip, same as Capcom did with re revelations2
It literally says on the box that it’s not the whole FFVII story.
>sells 2.21 million copies
moron, it didn't sell 2 millions. It had 2 million active players at some point. Not the same thing. Which mean that it must have sold at least 3-4 millions because not everyone will ever be online at the same time.
This anon brings up a good point. Sales might be actually higher but why hasn’t Square said anything ?
Because like always SE execs probably expected like 15 million copies. Daily reminder that SE declared TR2013 a flop despite selling 7 million copies.
They did announced remake numbers quick through
>It had 2 million active players at some point
lmao no it fricking didn't.
GOTY
Oh yeah, we're eating SO good when this comes to PC
People talk about their asses but these specific armor lines are the biggest sneak coomer addition
Back when bioware was . . .Bioware. .
>shift up is going public
Haha rip.
It's over. Nikke is over.
>Shift Up hasn’t publicly disclosed the number of users who tried the demo
So why should i care about what other people say?
>Square never commented on sales either
Why should I hold these people's word above the devs?
I'm going to fug Eve
>third party analyst
>"the devs never said what the figure was, but-"
>not understanding daily users vs units sold
Stellar blade isn't a gacha game though
I know it's just an example, but it's likely similar for PSN, in the sense that analytics track the frequency of PSN account access to the game for that day
>Where did the 2.21 million number come from when SE hasn't even released the data?
It's their personal guess as to the figure, they have no access to the data which would actually tell them a concrete figure so they basically just make it up. This is how all analysts function. The only stupid part to it all is when idiots act like it's real data, and when these analysts act like it also real data.
Yeah. Since SE hasn't shared the data yet, analysts are just trying to guess the numbers by making their own models, which could be way off
>when typically in gacha games
Does nobody in this thread know what they're talking about?
Time to laugh in the face of all the troons who claimed that DD2 sold less than rebirth
To be fair it says player count so it actually might have sold more like 3-4 million.
It’s just maddening that Square hasn’t posted the sales to shut the doomposter up
>and FF7 sells 2.21 million copies
and dumbasses will still go "THIS GAME FLOPPED"
Why are FF7gays the most delusional people in existence?
It's FF7Rgays, anon. Very different breed of people.
>Rebirth sold 2.21 million
That's not at all what that says. It's right there: 2.21 DAILY ACTIVE players.
So it probably sold more
Unless you think 100% of all purchases were playing the game at the exact time the measurements were done then yeah, it would have sold way more than that.
Stellar ROCKET TO THE MOON
Why did this thread become a asiatic on asiatic pissing contest?
>DAU
>sales
>2 million active players
>active players are usually 30-40% of total customers
>rebirth is a massive hit
I look forward to the anti-rebirth copeposting from jealous troons and my best friend barry
>pumping numbers with made up statistics
>the numbers would still be considered bad by SE's own standards
The only hope FF7R has is for a phenomenal PC release. I don't even hate the game, I bought Remake when it released. I just wasn't impressed and didn't care for the story changes. I might skip the second and third parts altogether and this is coming from someone who's childhood was defined by FF7. It's a disaster. No point in pretending it isn't.
Rebirth is actually good though.
It has the same godawful issues with padding, non-existent exploration where you just have identical checklists for every area, Chadley is insufferable and actively took away from the world building, and the ending is just more mystery box garbage,
To be fair the padding isn’t as awful as in remake. The last chapter is weird but I enjoyed the game.
The part that annoys me is that I was fully onboard when they announced a trilogy, but now that I forced myself through both games they 100% could've made Midgar to Forgotten Captial one game if they cut so much of the filler
That wouldn’t have been a bad idea but remake walk so rebirth could run
>rebirth could run
And trip... and fall terribly.
No, they had to fill the game's leight with Ubislop's gameplay, otherwise they won't be happy.
I might get it when it comes to PC, but I'm still pretty blasted about how they handled the release of Rebirth and even the DLC of Remake.
Don't listen to these homosexuals, everything that was bad about Remake persists into Rebirth. Wait for a big sale at best after it comes to PC, but this shit is not worth full price at all
Don’t listen to this homosexual. He is gay and moronic. The game is fun. Way better than remake
You should give rebirth a chance anon it’s really good. It
If we use steam metrics, 70-100k active players usually mean a game has sold more than a million copies. 2 million active players is insane.
There's no way that's an accurate figure, that would make it more popular than a shit ton of other games on PSN right now, Like DD2, and the game's trailing off hard.
DAU isn't the same thing as concurrent active players on Steam. It's the total number of unique users who launched the game over a 24 hour period.
This is the same company that said Tom Raider 7 million was a failure so I don’t trust them
>Isn’t that still really high?
Yes, very high, but neo-Ganker is full of zoomers who, by "virtue" of not being white, tend to possess a sub-80 iq and have difficulties understanding the English language.
> AAA budget game.
>"Less than 3 million is still high bro!"
Maybe in Pesos, Pablo.
>70% on the purchases were playing it on the exact day they measured
Are you moronic?
If the analysis is accurate (although I doubt it, as it was done by a random site), then FF7R has most likely already sold more than 2 million copies, considering that 2 million is just the peak daily active users (DAU) of a single day.
The actual figures to be at least double that by now
2.2 million active users would be a steam record
How would they even know this figure? They don't have access to SIE's data. It's clearly their estimate.
Also there's no way this game has 2 million DAU, since the article says it has increased to that point recently, not that it was at that point at launch. That would mean that rise of the Ronin has a much higher DAU if you go by sales chart positioning on PSN, which is definitely not the case.
>turnbased smrpg clears 3 million easy
>flopbased rebirth dies and gets killed
larry lost hard lool
If it has 2 million active players at some point it means it sold like 4 million or something right
The narrative is breaking down.
> FF7 sells 2.21 million copies
KEKAROOOOO
FLOPPED!
>the absolute state of the morons itt
As if I needed more confimation that Rebirth haters were illiterate, 3rd world, brown people.
Easy fix: Post sales.
Easy fix: lrn2speak English or frick off to the brown people internet.
More like Final Fantasy 7: Stillbirth, amirite?
>active users
My Black person that means the game sold more
uh oh larry finna melty
>Final Floptasy: Flopbirth
>Sold less than FF16
Oh no no no no no.
You do realize this means sales might actually be higher since it just says active players
Post
Sales
Then
other than naked woman. Is there an actual appeal of the game?
honestly square should just pay the ninostyle and HD background modders and port it to steam and consoles
She won
She even mogs 2B in her own fit. Now I know why niergays are so sensitive
2 weeks til launch :O
I want a physical copy but I also want to play at midnight. What do?
Rebirth actually did great. Cope and seethe.
And that’s just physical on Japan right ?
Yes, in one month, Rebirth could not match XVI's first week sales. Square's silence suggests that this is true worldwide as well.
This ugly b***h is practically a shill for Square at this point.
>sold less than XVI
>great
Dumb Black person
congrats on finally beating turnbased smrpg launch sales after 6 weeks looool
Post
Sales
So Rebirth sold less in a month than 16 did in the first week?
grim
>Did in one month what the previous game did in a week.
This is not the win you think anon
Why didn’t it sell more in Japan ?
VII is Japan's like 4th or 5th favorite FF. Also those are physical sales only: the digital version came with a >free copy of Intergrade/Intermission.
Jimbo predicted this btw.
The same Jimbo who posted lol in that other streamer's chat?
Final Fantasy truly is a dead franchise.
>VIIR 310k in a month
>XVI 336k in a week
>Rebirth actually did great
then post the numbers
92/100 metacritic
In b4 140 media outlets were bribed successfully
>92/100 metacritic
and how much did it sell?
Everyone who would've actually gave a balanced review on the game tapped out after Remake being a turd. Its only compilationgays who relish in Squares autism that are actually playing it and giving it inflated scores despite listing the multitude of flaws that plagued Remake returning again. They should purge perfect 10 scores just as much as they purged all the 1s of the godawful ending leaked
No actually even the most critical remake haters gave it a 9 but you keep coping
>i tapped out of Remake because i'm an autistic pedant, therefore everyone else did as well!
lol
lmao even
rebirth is legitimately one of the best games since gaming went to the HD era, and even before that.
It's not even the best Square ARPG.
Rebirth is everything I ever wanted from a modern Final Fantasy
You mean purist, not pedant. If you're going to cope with a strawman at least get it right. The pedants are the sad autistic fricks who have spent 5 years posting "the true definition of a remake" to explain their willingness to swallow Nojima's rank semen.
shut up ped nobody cares
>nobody cares
Says the guy throwing a little tantrum in response to any Rebirth post that isn't fawning praise or saying "2 million is ACTUALLY really good - in fact it's probably proof the game will sell 20 million on PC!"
oh poor you, it's not fair how everyone calls out your dishonest autistic bullshit in every Rebirth thread. doomers are the real victims fr fr
purist, pedant, doesn't matter, you're still the same autistic nitpickers that got mad when they changed the story that they said they were going to change.
No that would be SoP but SoP is a team ninja game not a SE game.
The only other ARPG I can think of is the nier series and lol@ thinking the nier games have better combat than Rebirth.
*Kingdom Hearts 2, I already own Nioh 1 and 2.
This
Same reason why the XIII sequels sell badly but score well. Each game filters out people with taste, leaving only gluttons for garbage and high tolerance for dogshit in their mouths.
>sold less than DD2
LMAOOOO
moron bro, if this was even official that would mean it sold more than DD2. Not less.
>2.5 million units is less
Holy cope
You fricking moron, 2 million sales on multiple platforms vs 2 million daily active users (not sales) on one platform. This is ignoring the fact that this clearly isn't right and it's more likely far lower than these people are claiming it is.
You're the only one coping right now, and I don't even like final fantasy.
Leave. Get off this board and don't come back until you can read and speak English fluently.
>sold
BROWNS LEAVE THE BOARD UNTIL YOU CAN SPEAK ENGLISH
the fact SE hasn't say a peep about the sales numbers should tell you all. They boasted about Remake and XVI but for this one, crickets
Why do neither Square nor FF7R Shills want to post sales if it did so well?
Something is fishy here...
They sold so many copies they are still trying to add up all the sales. Please understand.
We don't have those numbers you parasite infested favela monkey
Why don't we have the sales numbers yet? Is it because they are worse than XVI?
why do you guys care about sales anyway, I thought Ganker always hated popular normalgay games
I'm not a salesgay. I'm a numbergay. Know the difference.
Numbergayging is quintessentially board culture.
>a bad, unfinished game is good if normalgays bought into the versus XIII hype
lol
>bought into the versus XIII hype
Then there's a moron like me, who bought the game for Luna.
So on that front I was massively disappointed. But at least I had Ignis there to carry the game.
>Slightly changing the image to avoid spam filter
Mods?
>tendies seething because no games this year
Lmao
How are they determining daily active users?
Are people fricking moronic?
There is no way Rebirth got 2m daily players. That would mean AT LEAST 3-4 million copies sold. Probably more.
Square would have already announced it
2 million daily players might seem like A LOT, but it's actually quite achievable, especially for popular games like Final Fantasy.
I mean yeah, it's achievable easily if you sell 3-4, even 5m units.
But that would put Rebirth WAY higher than both Remake and 16 in terms of sales
My point is Square would have absolutely made an official statement if that was the case
I don’t understand why hasn’t Square announced the sales yet
>bluey still 10k
>stillbirth already down to 5k
loool
Barry is here isn’t he ?
Barry and Jimbo both having melties itt
Sony won
>we took the DAUs of a demo and extrapolated the total sales for the game based on those numbers.
The breasts that saved Sony (and won GOTY)
So we're getting the PC release the second exclusivity ends then?
June
Yep, just like with FFXVI and Remake.

The game looks fricking terrible outside of the character. And her eyeballs have no movement either, she looks dead.
She looks like a goddess to me
Why is her face so oval? Was she modeled after a bullet?
Why?
Unreal Engine 4. But I dunno why they didn't animate her eyeballs. Perhaps because they're gacha developers.

it still surprises me that the peach game outsold stellar blade
>game with broad appeal outsells niche coomer game
Wow, no way!
it's a average game that you don't see anyone talking about it, most likely it sold very little and nintendo will never make a new game about peach again, and yet it outsold stellar blade
Tell me true, Stellarkings. Will Tachy ever be playable?
Yes
Revenging Agent trophy
Defeated 50 enemies in Tachy Mode.
Leave the board and don't come back until you read and speak English fluently.
not him, but I see that this website makes reference to this other one https://www.ampereanalysis.com/insight/stellar-blade-demo-numbers-impress-but-will-the-hype-convert-to-paying-players
and the only thing it is showing are statistics and estimates, according to numbers, no one says that what they estimate could happen either
>launch peak DAUs for Stellar Blade are projected
Good, that's a start. Now please explain how daily active users would equal sales.
Words have meaning anon. This is important.
what happens is that they are giving a bad projection in short time of launch, for example helldivers 2 had half of those player numbers, being that it was a multiplatform launch on ps5 and pc, and just one month later it was one of the best selling games, even selling more on pc
it's better to wait a month with stellar blade to really know its impact and what it sold
>You are stupid, you have never worked in this industry, and you have no idea wtf you are talking about.
cope more
It's pretty likely that FF7 Rebirth sold like shit because Square was quick to announce milestones being hit by FF16 or Remake within 1-3 weeks.
Also, re-read the graph. It's PEAK Daily Active Users. Meaning, the HIGHEST that Daily Active Users were during March. So it represents, very likely, the maximum number of players during the beginning of March (right after the 29th)
>Marketing strategies never change
Ok moron
>Marketing strategies never change
What are you talking about? The marketing strategy is the same as Rebirth's
>release the sales of 7R
>it causes a panic because it didn't sell as much as speculators believed and caused their stock to drop
>release the sales of 16
>it causes a panic because it didn't sell as much as speculators believed (or SE wanted, fwiw) and caused their stop to drop
Gee I wonder why they stopped reporting the sales of their games.
Thing is if the sales WERE good they'd have reported them, so whatever the lower end of expectations are, they're right there. All we know for a fact is that it sold less than Remake and probably 16 (but not by much). It's likely in the 3 million area by now. Not a flop, but for supposedly your biggest franchise not great either
>If the sales are good they would have reported them
Not guaranteed
>Not guaranteed
But very likely. Companies like to brag about when their games sell well, like Nintendo bragging about Splatoon 3 being the fastest selling game in Japanese history or Vanillaware announcing that Unicorn Overlord hit 500k
You can't assume that they would just share the numbers one way or another because the SE that existed when Remake and 16 released no longer exists.
They had a MASSIVE internal staffing shake up just before and during the launch of Rebirth. For all we know the new head honcho in charge said 'were no longer releasing sales numbers' and that was the end of that.
>the SE that existed when Remake and 16 released no longer exists.
They have shaken things up but their marketing department is still going to brag about their games hitting major milestones.
Takashi Kiryu is not cut from such different cloth as his predecessor that he'd go against that basic thing that every company does. I mean, he was the president when they chose to announce FFXVI's sales numbers, that was on his watch
>Thing is if the sales WERE good they'd have reported them
Sony hasn't reported Helldivers 2's sales yet and we know that it sold gangbusters.
It's SE's special to try it again if the first time didn't work. This company is always diving head first into the ground.
PS+ Freebies had to individually be compensated for by Sony for each copy redeemed
>Whats your point with this exactly? That when it gets ported to other machines than the PS4/5 is gets more of a fanbase?
My point is that after the first month, the game's revenue is going to end up being way WAY less, even if the total copies shipped/sold goes up
>The lowest the game has ever gone on sale for is $35.99 usd
The game itself got a price cut. FF7 Remake on its own is $30 on PS4 these days. Intergrade is $40. And they're literally having a sale right now where Remake on PS4 is $15 and Intergrade is $16 (where I'm pulling the figure from rn)
Even prior to the September 2023 milestone report, Remake's lowest was $24, Intergrade was $40
>they're in these games for the longtail sales.
Is this samegayging or some discord personality shit?
>Korea is ruled by feminist cult of president Moon.
The President of SK is Yoon Suk Yeol, anon.
>should of
Browns and ESLs frick off. Thanks.
you'll never be american.
Stellar Blade is popular because of Lily! She is irresistible!
K-tards so beta they whine instead of actually doing something. Hens cackle, men do.
reddit fantasy vii: redditbirth
Yet you said Moon, like you thought he was still president.
>No wonder why he is called "Doo-chang" which means gay.
Is he though?
not invested in it i just came here to laugh at you, cuckbrap
Stellar Blade's sales look good considering it's a literally who game
FF7 through... Lol
>690k demo players
Isn't this like... really low?
Statistically speaking less than half of those will buy the game.
Do you want to know what happens when you tell everyone for 6+ years you're devving the FF7 Remake then deliver the FF7 Reimagining but only after you lie to them to get their 60+ bigbois?
Because that's what the frick happens. Don't lie to mother frickers on the FIRST game in a TRILOGY then expect them to come back for seconds or thirds SE you dirty stupid ass mother frickers.
>mfw XVI clowning on FF7 Reimagining part 2 as it damn well should
WHY
THE
FRICK
YOU
LYIN?!
As it stands you've just burnt all good faith for some OGs, and Zoomers now have to play 3 games just to parse wtf is happening in Rebirth to the fullest, which judging by the sales their clearly don't give a frick to do
Can you tell me what a remake is?
If you have to argue semantics you already lost
>Entire post is about not getting the remake you wanted
>Can't define what a remake actually is
Many such cases
>He's still using the define remake strawman
Back to plebbit you go
Resident Evil 2 Remake is the gold standard for what a remake is, go play through it because trying to explain it would be too annoying.
>don't change the main plot
>remix shit but still have the stuff from the originals mostly
>add new things that work within the game like the sherry section
>upgrade it's gameplay which is largely the reason why you made the remake in the first place
>try to retain what the originals did well like atmosphere, music, ect
>add good ideas that function well like nearly everything about Mr X
>Resident Evil 1 Remake
FTFY
RE1 Remake if you want near 1:1 remake
RE2 Remake if you want something updated with different gameplay and what not.
Both gold standards in their respective realms.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DELETE THIS
GIVE ME ORIGINAL FF7 BUT NEW AGAIN AH ITS NOT FAIR I DONT WANT THE REMAKE REEEEEEEE
>part 3 will be happening
as an web3 app
I can understand being upset if you got rugpulled when Remake came out.
But people b***hing in 2024 that the remake trilogy isn't actually a remake and that it's not fair they broke it up into a trilogy just really need to reassess their life.
BUT ITS NOT FAIR
ITS NOT FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIR
GIVE ME A 1:1 REMAKE
MAKE IT THE EXACT FRICKING SAME
THEN I'D COMPLAIN AND CALL IT SOULLESS ANYWAY BUT PLEASE ITS NOT FAIR
Literally me except I wouldn't complain about something I wanted.
7R sycophants are embarrassing. Like why are you here, replying to yourself instead of playing your masterpiece? right because you’re poor and watched it on YouTube like everyone else. Your not even arguing for a game anymore just a shitty convoluted shonen you didn't even pay to see which has reflected in sales numbers.
i am literally playing rebirth right now
i have over 100 hours of play time and there's still so much to do
its unironically the best game i have played in the past like 15 years
>15
that made me chuckle kys though
I was at 130 hours when I went to the temple and there was lots of stuff I hadn't finished. Rebirth is a fricking huge game
>your
I platinumed it yesterday. Now I'm considering getting the Crisis Core remaster since I haven't played it since the PSP days.
>ght because you’re poor and watched it on YouTube like everyone else
In the middle of my Hardmode run but you go ahead and tell yourself whatever you need to if it helps you sleep at night little champ.
>In the middle of my Hardmode run
What chapter you at Gankerro? Just finished my hard mode run yesterday
6. It's a LOT easier than Remakes hard mode in terms of the story fights, but those fricking side quests that dump like half a dozen to a dozen jacked up intel mobs at you are insane.
finish thoe sidequests gay
I've put like 50 more hours into the game since then, that was just a picture I took because someone claimed you couldn't possibly hit level 70 without doing all of the content in the game and that i was bullshitting and lying about it to impress Ganker
>start the fluffy side quest at lv 49
>hit lv 70 in 5 minutes
its that easy
>using the ugly igneous saber over the cooler buster sword
>using Zacks sword at all
Sleep Saber is superior to the Igneous Blade anyway so there's no reason to use it.
40k rupees isn't a thing to scoff at here
I turned on the trilogy after 7R1 honeydicked us into thinking it would be completely different only for 7R2 to be 98% similar to the original. I have no interest in playing another full game that plays out almost exactly like the original with some minor variations until the ending. Boring.
I can see the Discord found this thread
>Doomcord is mad someone is countering their narrative
The Discord was disbanded months ago. If it was still active it would be staunchly pro Rebirth
>Buy our game!
>GET OVER IT YOU WON'T GET WHAT YOU WANT, NOW BUY OUR GAME!
Get lost Black folk, the answer is no. I ain't buying shit I didn't want or don't like period, call me an economic terrorist if you must or whatever the frick you do to cope with making product people don't like or didn't want, you are not entitled to my more worthless by the minute fiat monopoly money.
Besides, you're being a strawman b***h, nobody ever asked for a 1:1 and I personally liked the jessie section shenanigans and some other shit they added, but they completely fricked the plot with spoiler spooks and a bunch of other objectively moronic shit.
What's next, you gonna demand I buy GoW:Ragnarok even though I know ANTHONY fricking BURCH wrote for it? Frick outta here.
Why does Rebirth look like an overproduced WEG without the sex?
Game will sell 10 million if it comes to PC
Reminder that peak launch players is not
total sales lmao
Rebirth outsold DD2
Rebirth will outsell Sterrar Brade
Rebirth is your 2024 GOTY
OP is a homosexual who should go back to brown people Internet
This game is the reason SE has no sales. The last of their good will and relevance is gone.
Everyday I come on Ganker and see sales number threads, why is that?
I unironically think it is people that were formerly shills, got fired, and take up a crusade to be antishills as their revenge
>FF7 sells 2.21 million copies
Isn't like over half a million of that from Japan alone?
The physical version alone sold over 300k in Japan. Keep in mind the digital version came with a PS5 copy of Remake and Intermission for free.
>Keep in mind the digital version came with a PS5 copy of Remake and Intermission for free.
I do not think that there were a lot of people who were waiting 4 years to play FF7 Remake
Did you miss the "PS5 version part?" Because most people bought Remake on PS4, which runs like ass.
it also comes with the Yuffie DLC for free IIRC
>intermission
Yes, that was mentioned. And not a single person who bought the PS4 version of Remake was able to pkay Intermission because Square are gays.
In other words there was almost no reason whatsoever to buy Rebirth physical.
>Did you miss the "PS5 version part?"
But they gave out a free PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version, they announced that with the PS5 version
The only value of buying a new copy for the PS5 directly is Intergrade but that's also been out for 2-3 years already, nobody waited that long to get it
>But they gave out a free PS5 upgrade for the PS4 version
Not for people who got the PS4 version through ps+.
>Not for people who got the PS4 version through ps+.
Okay but I doubt people would buy the double pack to get the PS5 version of a game they already own, especially when it would be cheaper to just pick up Intergrade on the cheap on sale when the price was cut to $40 or $16 on sale
But that doesn't generally change the issue which is that you're claiming the digital twin-pack of Rebirth sold a lot more because it appealed some odd niche of people who met one of the following criteria
>did not buy FF7 Remake on PS4 at any point
>did not claim FF7 Remake as part of PS+ in 2021
>did not get FF7 Intergrade/Intermission DLC during the 2 years it's been out
It just seems odd to imply that there is some group of people who are even passingly interested in Rebirth that would not have gotten it already when it was on sale to $30-40 on PS4/PS5/Steam over 2-4 years
Maybe not, but the Rebirth+Remake bundle was #10 on the PSN store at launch, so clearly there are a good amount of people buying that edition of the game.
Like
said, it came with the Yuffie DLC for free which I doubt many people went back and played when it first came out.
Japan doesnt seem to be buying Stellar Blade
No one cares about SB besides coomers
no
>char.jpg
I just came here to laugh at Flop Fantasy 7.
>2.21 million copies
Less than Dragon Chadma 2
>sales
ESLs go and stay go
To be honest, I don't really care if Square considers Rebirth a financial success or not.
I believe we're a dying breed anon.
>Not even $80 million revenue for AAA RPG
Still sold too much. Nostalgiagay millennials need to die off already
my ubereats better be on time tonight you broccoli headed b***h
>embargo up 2 days before release
>journos getting game tomorrow/today
I hope it actually gets high 8s.
Western journalists might pan it just because it defies what women are supposed to look like in modern vidya
>all these shitposters that can't read
poor form, try harder
well judging from this thread this game will have a fun era
Good for them I guess, I hate Koreans so I'm not getting Stellar Blade
Eat shit ff7, Congrats to Stellar blade.
After playing rebirth myself, I can really tell who has played this game and who is just talking out of their ass in these threads
it strikes me as humorous that game "critics" on Ganker don't actually play games
Sterrar Brade will never be Japanese
Japan doesn't rip off or plagairize everything like asiatics do so that makes sense.
J-pop> K-slop
>entire board is so desperate for everything to be a flop that their malformed underdeveloped rotted brains can understand the difference between “daily active users” and “total lifetime sales”
It’s funny how moronic I feel in my day to day life but somehow this braindead board makes me feel like genius amongst barely sapient chimpanzees.
>makes me feel like genius
Oh, I'm SURE board make you feel like genius, Koko.
>the difference between “daily active users” and “total lifetime sales”
it doesn't matter mate. ampere isn't a good source and they quite literally make shit up. they never disclose how they got their numbers and 90% of their shit is
>here rebirth totally got these numbers and stella blade would have the exact same growth in our "projections"
>source? us
really the fault lies solely in how visionless and directionless the FF series is
they went for some bullshit about making it a choice for each new FF game director to decide what kind of game they'd make but all its done is atomize the franchise and kill off staying appeal for fans.
Look at Atlus and IS, they have their formula and just keep building on top off shit. They get moderate successes but crucially don't spend as much as SE does on FF games. Imagine that sort of brand appeal and consistency but on SE budgets.
Really the moment SE wasn't pushing the cutting edge of graphics anymore was the deathknell of FF, since that's really all that made the franchise sell
is there a fan base more insecure than fgays? they lose their minds about any game outselling it, including other ff games kek.
dd2 fans
totk fans
>totk fans
This might be the only good answer.
>collectively have an INSANE chip on their shoulders over not winning GotY
>resort to shareholder cheerleading
>pathetically try to steal BotW's accolades and "Ganker meltdowns" for itself
>shit on the entire rest of the series to prop their game up
They latch on to directors, not the games themselves. There is a reason they are called cultists.
the people spamming stellar blade on Ganker
>the asiaticoids
Fixed that for you
xenogays
niergays
It's just Yoshida cultists.
soulsgays are pretty annoying
Barry isn't representative of the entire ff fanbase you know.
Idk, but they are hands down the most schizophrenic. If you cross them and they will find a post similar to yours on the internet and assign you a name and favorite videogame based on that.
Can't help that we have autistic levels of pattern recognition Ronnie
kys ronnie. yakuza is a flop.
>doomcord now mass replying and crying that rebirth has too many fans
Wew lad
the truth is that battle royales killed single player sales
is the igneous saber better than slipstream?
why did they make a bunch of oc donut steel swords and not use the ones from the original
the katanas and endgame swords are probably being saved for part 3 and nobody cares about the butterfly edge or enhance sword
Rune Brade is the sexiest choice
Rune Blade + Genji Gloves + Magic Up + MP Absorb + Enemy Skill is God tier.
Eh...I'm not sure I agree anon. I platinumed both games but there are some quite bullshit bosses still in front of you if you're on chapter 6. Gi Nattak is an absolute homosexual on hard mode.
>Rune Blade + Genji Gloves + Magic Up + MP Absorb + Enemy Skill is God tier.
You literally have infinite ATB and can spam -aga spells on your other 2 party members constantly because by the time the cast is finished the ATB bar is fully replenished.
cheater
You didn't beat the game
I remember the webm of this, I need to try it out
>it's real
you should be ashamed of yourself homosexual
>but it's also so stupidly broken that i have to imagine the devs just don't know about it.
Good, because the vast majority of Legendary and Brutal challenges are not fun and any way to cheese them to make them go away faster is a blessing.
Use it with Quakeaga for maximum "frick yo challenge homie" effect.
hmm maybe I will plat this game after all
Remember to link comet with synergy on Aerith at the same time and that Yuffie has her doppleganger summoned and is standing on arcane ward when you cast Quakeaga. That results in 6 Quakeaga going off at once, even more if linked to magnify plus the comet coming down.
And make sure your PS5 is arranged to allow for maximum airflow because doing that causes it to scream for mercy.
Sterrar Brade make ur pp farr off
how the frick is anyone complementing this game when the input lag is so horrendous?
fricking feels like I can take a nap between hitting a button and seeing a response
never seen a game this fricking bad in this regard and it's an action game
