The dream-like quality and time loop before inevitable destruction are good themes. Also it has some of the hardest tracks in the franchise.
ALSO it's the only Zelda game with aliens which automatically makes it the best. And the characters aren't cardboard cutouts like in Breath of the Wild.

MM didn’t sell that great and was divisive with fans at launch. All the people complaining it was too dark and difficult is why WW was such a departure.
I played it as a child and the impending doom, mask system, routines, time cycles, and multi-layered quests just made the game more engaging and rewarding for me.
I like Majora's Mask more but Ocarina has a much stronger feeling of adventure, which I think is really important to a Zelda game, so it still has that going for it.
Collecting fairies in dungeons suck, if you don't know where they are they become stressful because your under a timer, if you do know where they are their just extra tedium distracting from the already low dungeon count.
The time gimmick can also be annoying in certain situations, yes I know slow time song and yes bunny hood but theirs always a time where you have to cut off a cycle. Some times you have to debate yourself on cutting off one sooner or trying to squeeze what you want to do in another one.
Frickers on Ganker told me the MM decomp wouldn't make more source mods because of the time mechanic, but the game is already getting mods even before the decomp now

They're still fairly one note, the characters in later games actually have development/depth.
