I'm confused why is Luke's SFV outfit considered 3 and not 2. 2 was throwback and that is literally his prior outfit.
Luke's in a weird spot overall. He was made for SF6 and the devs consider him a SF6 character more than a SFV character. Him showing up in V was only due to 6 getting delayed and them deciding to support V an extra year, with them throwing in Luke as a bonus. There was an interview somewhere where they mentioned that they thought of him as a "guest".
they probably never planned to release the SFV luke skin as he clearly doesnt look good in it with his SF6 proportions and facial animations.
I guess they felt rushed with these costumes.

Capcom's really making bad PR decisions. It doesn't matter how good the game is, they don't respect their main fan base and it's showing with all this avatar obsession. Battle Hub for people playing seriously or semi-casually see it as a bit. It's nice to play in with groups, but the avatar shit is not important for player retention. Most user content for sf6 doesn't even use Battle Hub features so I can only assume a mistaken road map of priorities on Capcom's end. But why not just be open about where all this delay is coming from? 6 months and no major content like outfit 3 is wild from a company as big as capcom. If they have any more avatar content they need to cut that shit in half time wise or content wise to make more costumes, faces in vs, stages, characters, world tour content, ect.
There is a huge push in the gaming narrative you need to cater to casuals (the lowest common denominator) first and foremost. In practice it doesn't seem to work for games seem as hardcore. SF6 has thrice as much content for casual players than MK1 and it still got destroyed in sales and the fan voted awards. It's all about perception and this pivot just pisses off the core base and added more negative reception to an overall good game and one of the best games of 2023. It's not about casual or hardcore, but pandering to your core base first and foremost. MK can get away with mechanical trash because their core fanbase is casuals who praise literal copypaste skins with 3 unique moves as new characters. SF players demand more.

I've heard there's no PS4 compatibility and you're locked into the Capcom SOCD ruleset.
Most offlines still run the majority of it's games on PS4.
It becomes a SF6 box, you'll be having a worse experience with every other game, at least from my point of view.
If you want a modern hitbox with full compatiblity get an Mpress or newer Snackboxes/Bentoboxes. They have (from what I've heard) PS4/PS5 support as well as a way to toggle between traditional and Capcom SOCD methods.
If you already have an older hitbox, a Brooks wingman will only cost you like $70 instead of a fullprice peripheral.

Just remember that if you're planning on competing in SF6 you probably should get used to the capcom method, I haven't heard of people checking the SOCD method in tournaments, but I've only been to a few offlines that featured SF6, I'm an anime player.

Last input is what I’ve used a little to see how Guile is with it but I main Ryu. Also what about Strive? I heard someone say something about the capcom socd seriously messing it up, so should I use the default (LR=N?)
Capcom SOCD only affects the Up+Down input
Normal: U+D=U
Capcom: U+D=N
The capcom method will definitely frick with your TK inputs if you're used to doing them with the normal method. It also removes your ability to fuzzyjump without letting go of down which makes defence a little weaker.
Lastly the capcom method nerfs charge characters as you can't do flashkicks without letting go of down.

18k exclusively during JP hours is a weak fraction of where this game started, and that's how it's gonna read on a financial report.
18k daily would be outstanding for a game that launched with 35k or 50k players, cause they'd still be retaining like 35-50% of their fans. 18k of 70k is an uglier fraction though. losing 75% of your players does not look good on a line graph. not to mention features like region lock and opt-in/opt-out crossplay that might limit your access to many of those players as a player yourself.
moreover, SF6 started with 70k players on Steam; now it does around 18k daily during JP hours and hovers around 7k during NA hours. i'm not a mathematician, but that tells me three things are probably true regardless of what platform you play the game on.

no, because SteamCharts numbers reflect general player trends, especially in games that are primarily multiplayer and that have crossplay. if PC players are bouncing off the game, console players are probably bouncing off it for all the same reasons. nobody is dropping the PC version of SF6 to go play console SF6 in pursuit of a different player pool - that's a Mortal Kombat 1 problem. crossplay and region lock make the SF6 online experience pretty universal. and it's not like console players are being fed goodies that PC players aren't that would keep them around more often.
the vast majority of console players aren't looking to move to PC either, because the only thing that changes about player experience platform to platform is PC players having access to cosmetic mods. there's no gameplay overhaul or expansion mod to drive extra engagement on PC like you'd see in a title like Skyrim. SF6 is the same game. if 75% of PC players dropped it, somewhere around 75% of console players probably dropped it too.

i don't know. if i were doing my due diligence, i'd probably look for some numbers or a percentage that indicates how many more players consoles have total than PC. just multiplying 18k by 3 and assuming all 3 versions of the game have the exact same number of players feels a little... sloppy. i'd probably give both consoles the benefit of the doubt and assume each system has at least 20% more players than PC, so that'd be 22,500 each. add those together and you'd have 45,000 console players plus the 18k on PC for a cool 63,000.
that would still be the JP hours peak though, not the NA hours one. if JP peaks at 63,000 total then NA probably peaks somewhere around 30k on all platforms. again i'm not a mathematician, i just like percentages and educated guestimates. lol

You also have to consider the fact console players have less options. Smite is still going because of console players mostly, because it’s the only available moba on the platform atm. Sf6 and mk are the only big budget fighting games available. And mk at this point isn’t a multiplayer game for its player base.

I don't know what you're comparing it with but it's not that alarming, though not a success either compared to popular games on Steam, indeed. If you wanted a more complete analysis, you could have noted that SF6 reached a plateau around 20k players four months after the release and has been stable for three months since then, which is an important statistics, since it indicates the exponential decay as stopped.
Now, was that number in the scope of Capcom's expectations? Who knows.

Or when a character considered weak by the community is overbuffed due to no one actually labbing. Those are things that take time to properly manage, otherwise you're just playing musical chairs with the top 5 or ruin the balance entirely.
