The ending to 3 was so bad no one cared about the series anymore.

Really? Did that actually happen to the homosexuals who made Andromeda? KWAB

A LOT of wrong, but also a lot of space goodness if you forget it's called mass effect.

The entire premise of the game was a waste of time and an admission that Mass Effect 3 was a mistake. A mistake so bad they needed to make the game take place in another fricking galaxy.
Doesn't help that the game was shit.
Honestly, I'm just praying someone finally buys EA and reboots the entire franchise from scratch with a new story. That's the only way to salvage this hot shit of a mess of a universe.

EA is more evil than a fricking anime villain
They watch as they make mistakes, let them make the mistakes, and then fricking murder them for having wasted time and money with these mistakes they could have done something about

You forgot that EA will also demand developers make changes or implement things that turn out to be (obviously foreseeable) mistakes.

This is why games are terrible. This is what they shouldve done instead of trying to reboot the original series. Have some humility and take the jokes.

Mass Effect but youre a spectre tasked with ensuring the survival of diverse life by fricking as many galactic lifeforms as possible. Mass Effect but they lean in hardcore on the date-sim shit. Make it goofy but know when to be serious.

Andromeda unironically deserves a sequel and 3rd to round the trilogy before we go back to ME4.
ME:A has it's issues, but once you get past the opening couple of hours the game really opens up and is legitimately fun with an interesting story hook.
Going around and terraforming planets to create colonies that will evolve and grow as you continue the story and terraform more planets is a fantastic gimmick that should not be abandoned. If anything they should expand the frick out of it and make a bunch of town management mini-games where you can control more than just which planets are fully terraformed first.

    Frick the haters.

Can only imagine how pozzed and buggy that game will be. BioWare is dead.

How bad is it really? I finally got it on sale (it's always on sale) this last time around, presumably some of the worst frick-ups have been fixed a little since launch, right?

The game is fine. It got memed because of the janky face animations and the buggy first couple of hours, and a lot of the fandom died off after 3, AND it was peak "bioware is shit" era. Most of the bugs have been fixed and they redid all of the games facial animations so they're less janky looking.
Takes a couple of hours to really get going, so I wouldn't write it off until you at least complete the first non-tutorial planet (takes like 3 hours).

        >they redid all of the games facial animations so they're less janky looking
They did a once-over of the first 10 or so hours of the game, and calling it "fixed" is being VERY generous. Now they just look bad instead of insultingly bad.
It is possible they could've eventually fixed, for real, the whole thing, but it would take a long time and a lot of money, and the smart thing to do after such a disastrous launch was to just cut losses. This didn't have legs, nobody would buy an Andromeda 2, nobody cared about any of its characters, there was no imprint with audiences.

Its mediocre at best. Writting is either straight up bad or just bland and forgettable. You can explore 4 or 5 different planets but they all boil down to same shit anyway. Enemy variety is abysmal, so much, that the final boss in the game is an exact same enemy you fight 3 or 4 times before the end. Biggest sin for me is that the 'alien' races are just bland, you get to a completely new galaxy and its populated by 2 'different' humanoid races, nothing interesting

There's a bug that makes an enemy completely invulnerable in multiplayer. This makes it so your run is unwinnable because you may not be able to finish that wave until you kill this unkillable enemy. This bug has been in the game years ago since launch. They're done with the game, and it still has problems like this. It's not going to be fixed.

The game generally has better combat than Mass Effect 3, but it's still clunky. If you really like Mass Effect 3 you might still like Andromeda but in terms of single player story I think you'll find it to be a step back.

      >forced to work on new engine they've never touched before
They had worked on Frostbite in DA:I, their previous game.

      >engine had never been used for style of game before
Inquisition was an RPG, and Frostbite had been used for shooters, before.

      >were making on-the-spot changes to the engine to make it suitable for the gameplay they were trying to achieve
      Excuses.

      >studio rushed by publisher to just get game out already
The game was in development since 2013.

      >forced to start over and over again and eventually make a game in just a year or so
      >Forced
Bioware have said, repeatedly, that the choice to move to Frostbite was their own, and not mandated. It's their own fault, entirely.

    >what happened?
You serious man? Andromeda had one of the more memorable flop launches in recent memory. The TERRIBLE faces characters made because the studio for some reason outsourced animations. The "shit pants" character running waddle bug that wouldn't go away. The fact that guns would do whatever they wanted during cutscenes and more often then not be pointed backwards when held.

That game was a nightmare on release.

Even after they 'fixed' the cutscene introducing PooPee, her Carnifex was still missing its barrel.
and the Carnifex isn't even the pistol she uses in combat, for frick's sake.

        >peebee’s pistol is a revolver somehow
        >this implies mass effect firearms fire bullets from hammer-fired cartridges and this one loads them into a revolving cylinder
        >this isn’t how mass effect firearms work at all

Why would an asari even have a revolver, an old-fashioned human weapon that would be an antique in 2183? Peebee has been alive a longer than humans have been outside their solar system. Noguns quirky writers wanting quirky traits for their quirky characters I bet.
