CB is very easy to pick up and can give you plenty of fun doing combos on monsters since you can weave in moves with built in guard to stay on the offense

What should I be doing for quick big dick damage then? Charge > tackle cancel > charge > tackle cancel > true charge slash is the fastest way to get huge damage form what I've figured out just fricking around in the training room a bit. All of the switch skills seem kinda shitty to me compared to other weapons.
Fishing for true charge hits requires a lot of monster knowledge, the key is to master your tackles so the monster is always being smacked in the face for looking at you. Even then you positioning needs to be perfect as well otherwise your second TCS hit whiffs.
I've been playing with rage slash on red and true charge + the combo slash on blue to punish knock downs but I've been hunting less than a year.

I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me in a "so bad it's good" sort of way. Taking followers on hunts is genuinely Dragon's Dogma Pawn voice clip tier.

I'm going to continue to be elitist about the english voice acting because it sounds like fricking shit, and the extent to which they've loaded these games up with abhorrent voice lines, regardless of the language, is unbearable. Whether I know what they're saying or not, all of these characters need to shut the frick up while I'm scrolling through quests or armour.

That's what settings are for. In the same lobby together (you) can play with zero voices period and people who enjoy them can play with them on at full blast without interfering with you, it's a literal win-win scenario and no matter what choice you decide it still won't be the way classic MH did it anyway.

The Monster Hunter language option is literally the Japanese VA anyway. It's a 1:1 voice cast, so if you're playing with Japanese voices already and make the switch, your hunter will sound exactly the same.
Doesn't work in Rose since 90 of the dialogues have no subtitles unless in a cutscene. Yeah the English VAs are terrible, though admittedly the jap VAs are pretty terrible in the morning language too. But unless you are fluent in jap or simply will turn off all non cutscene dialogues there is no point in anything but English. You miss out all the banter, all the surrounding dialogue, all the overhearing dialogues between other characters, etc.

I use the smug british voice so it's fine. For story and other characters, I simply don't want to READ while I'm trying to watch a cutscene or kill something. Plus the hammy acting reminds me of my days playing dragons dogma, dynasty warriors 3 and final fantasy X.
I swapped to english because I wanted to understand what the characters would say to each other in the follower quests and because I felt there was a lot more talking in sunbreak then usual

The dogs are too much fun to bring two cats, but I will bring one single Gathering cat because I like the cute nun outfit and high fiving the palico.
I will state for the record that only gathering cats are based however, and that other cats are objectively the worst companions.
plunder cats should honestly be removed or nerfed into the ground so they can only steal very common items.
I usually only run a single plunder cat, but even just that one cat reduced my time for grinding by about 1/3.
With cats and wyvern riding you easily get twice as many rewards.

I exclusively bring two gathering palicos, what skills are the most useful on them? I have a couple of attack/crit ups but I don't know if palico damage is actually worth a frick compared to some of the other shit they can do
Give them blunt sleep/para weapons and put Status Attack Up, Knockout King and Support Focussed on them. More status procs, more knock outs, and support focus makes their abilities trigger more often. Leaves you 2 slots left over, which I've put Partbreaker and a random red one-slot as Parkbreaker is stronger based on the number of reds you have equipped.
Then for support moves, take anything that will immobilise the monster. The one that causes thunderblight if you're not running a blunt weapon yourself, the shock trap if you are as you'll get the stuns easily enough without it. The other two are less important but I use Go, Fight, Win which gives you a stamina boost for a while, and Power Drum which gives you an attack boost.
but also if you play a negative affinity weapon you may benefit from a fighting cat for rousing roar which gives additional affinity for that sweet 100% crit potentially.

I use whatever the frick I want but it still sucks that you have to build around using non-meta weapons just to make up for them having less sharpness or affinity or whatever. Capcom shit on particular weapons a bit too hard IMO which makes way for these two weapon metas
MH devs are notoriously bad at balance, this is the case in every MH game. They're also incredibly lenient though, with fights like IB fatalis where they arbitrarily remove 20 minutes being the very rare exception, meaning you can just coast through the game with zero armour skills for 99.99% of them if you want.
The fact that you can even use meme builds this much and that those meme builds have a few unique gimmicks makes this one of the more varied games in terms of approaches to combat, I think Sunbreak did a pretty good job of opening up build options without pissing off casuals or Speedrungays.

Honestly this series wouldn't be as entertaining to me if it wasn't for how seriously these games never take themselves. If one of us screws up yeah it sucks, but we're not going to blast each other over it, just the act itself stings enough. From armor based off concepts that wouldn't exist in their world such as American football, to being able to lug around a revolver chamber on a stick or kill monsters with a giant frozen fish, Monster Hunter prides itself in being ridiculous and that's what makes it so fun to share in with others.

Hit the arms from the side where it is safe and not the front, use wirebugs to dodge the attacks, ride a palamute around until you reach the right location, block the attack, Skill swap evade or just dodge with Evade Extender, etc.

You can't break Daimyo's shell completely but it has two breaks (first break is he crest, second is the horn), but you can completely smash Shogun's shell to expose its giant prolapsed crab anus weak point.

I thought the switch didn't let you upload saves to PC for editing, how is this guy doing it for monster hunter? Handler being unattractive isn't even the main reason people dislike her, it's the obnoxious personality and the fact that she's a borderline Mary Sue who can do no wrong while getting way too much focus in the narrative.
The twins are far more forced than her. She at least has a sensible reason to exist; she is already a famous hunter and you are searching for a walking nuke to save her country. Why wouldn't she be there to help?

One of them has Fiorayne tagging along, the other (when you read the person assigning the quest you can tell), doesn't.
She assigns the versions you can do after you beat it the first time, and she doesn't come along to help, so you can only get her the first time or if you're joining someone playing it for the first time.
The MR grind is bad and I don't like it. I am like MR54 and just want to fight Valstrax and Scorned Magnamalo and be done with the game, but I have to fight dudes I've already killed a bunch of times over and over again to be allowed to do so.
From what I can tell from the info on the wiki, thunder has the least number of monsters that are immune to it, fire has the most number of monsters it is most effective on but also the most that are immune to it, and ice being sort of the middle of the road. Water isn't very useful as far as damage goes, but IIRC it's super useful in reducing monster stamina, but I think ice does that too? I can't remember how elements affect monsters.
Oh, I just meant in the entire series overall. I remember Thunder being strong against a majority of the GU cast which had the biggest monster roster in the series. Could be Ice is better in SB.
i'd guess that's because thunder is consistently good against flying wyverns except for those that are thunder monsters themselves and GU is littered with those

I actually cannot beat Furious Georg, I have never been walled in Monster Hunter thid bad before. Any other game I failed a quest in, I just went and grinded a few armor upgrades, but there's nothing I can upgrade anymore. What the frick do I do?

He's genuinely not that bad. I had to fully learn him in the Arena because I was using the hammer, a weapon I don't play, after just brute forcing him with my glaive on the normal run. It's a very fair fight.
After the corkscrews or big belly flow in his fully enraged state he always pauses for a good while, you can get some free hits in there. Baiting out the overhead punch which creates a single line of shockwave is an easy one to sidestep and punish too.
When he's not enraged stick close and bait out the flurry of punches. If you're right on him they'll all go over your head, and you'll be right on top of him after he does the final hit and pauses so can wail on him.
Who are the most useful followers you’ve found so far? Galleus and Jae seem kind of moronic. It’s hard to gauge who’s actually being helpful though without being able to parse them.
Fio, crazy gunner lady and elder fugen have been alright. Jae ran all the way across the map to mount a narga and then got bodied so hard by zinogre that he didn't get a single attack off before having to dump the mount

At least they try to fix this crap with Rise with how there more variety of monsters to fight while Sunbreak added the Afflicted to make Non-Elderdragon relevant by having KEY MATERIALS for the best weapon.

As refence, you can just Draw, run, Draw still if you want, but it's only at best ~300 damage per hit. Even Lance using a wirebug skill can hit that hard while doing more constant damage all the while. GS is about bruteforcing the lv3 third charge attack so you unga bunga 2000+ damage because that's how it keeps up with the other weapons output. But you can still hunt like that, vastly slower mind, but there's enough time on the clock that allows for it.

What should I be doing for quick big dick damage then? Charge > tackle cancel > charge > tackle cancel > true charge slash is the fastest way to get huge damage form what I've figured out just fricking around in the training room a bit. All of the switch skills seem kinda shitty to me compared to other weapons.
Fishing for true charge hits requires a lot of monster knowledge, the key is to master your tackles so the monster is always being smacked in the face for looking at you. Even then you positioning needs to be perfect as well otherwise your second TCS hit whiffs.
I've been playing with rage slash on red and true charge + the combo slash on blue to punish knock downs but I've been hunting less than a year.
place barrel bomb > charge > strongarm > tcs
Go for a level 3 draw attack and run, TCS if you have a huge opening. Alternatively you can use Surge Slash for more consistent DPS

The Monster Hunter language option is literally the Japanese VA anyway. It's a 1:1 voice cast, so if you're playing with Japanese voices already and make the switch, your hunter will sound exactly the same.
Doesn't work in Rose since 90 of the dialogues have no subtitles unless in a cutscene. Yeah the English VAs are terrible, though admittedly the jap VAs are pretty terrible in the morning language too. But unless you are fluent in jap or simply will turn off all non cutscene dialogues there is no point in anything but English. You miss out all the banter, all the surrounding dialogue, all the overhearing dialogues between other characters, etc.
i don't really care about whatever the frick the blacksmith is babbling about while i'm just trying to look at the armor.

I will state for the record that only gathering cats are based however, and that other cats are objectively the worst companions.
plunder cats should honestly be removed or nerfed into the ground so they can only steal very common items.
I usually only run a single plunder cat, but even just that one cat reduced my time for grinding by about 1/3.
With cats and wyvern riding you easily get twice as many rewards.

Elgado may be a shit hub with invisible walls up the ass, but it's a massive improvement over kamura.
I exclusively bring two gathering palicos, what skills are the most useful on them? I have a couple of attack/crit ups but I don't know if palico damage is actually worth a frick compared to some of the other shit they can do
Give them blunt sleep/para weapons and put Status Attack Up, Knockout King and Support Focussed on them. More status procs, more knock outs, and support focus makes their abilities trigger more often. Leaves you 2 slots left over, which I've put Partbreaker and a random red one-slot as Parkbreaker is stronger based on the number of reds you have equipped.
Then for support moves, take anything that will immobilise the monster. The one that causes thunderblight if you're not running a blunt weapon yourself, the shock trap if you are as you'll get the stuns easily enough without it. The other two are less important but I use Go, Fight, Win which gives you a stamina boost for a while, and Power Drum which gives you an attack boost.

I use whatever the frick I want but it still sucks that you have to build around using non-meta weapons just to make up for them having less sharpness or affinity or whatever. Capcom shit on particular weapons a bit too hard IMO which makes way for these two weapon metas
MH devs are notoriously bad at balance, this is the case in every MH game. They're also incredibly lenient though, with fights like IB fatalis where they arbitrarily remove 20 minutes being the very rare exception, meaning you can just coast through the game with zero armour skills for 99.99% of them if you want.
The fact that you can even use meme builds this much and that those meme builds have a few unique gimmicks makes this one of the more varied games in terms of approaches to combat, I think Sunbreak did a pretty good job of opening up build options without pissing off casuals or Speedrungays.

Honestly this series wouldn't be as entertaining to me if it wasn't for how seriously these games never take themselves. Hit the arms from the side where it is safe and not the front, use wirebugs to dodge the attacks, ride a palamute around until you reach the right location, block the attack, Skill swap evade or just dodge with Evade Extender, etc.
If you can't avoid all of a monster's attacks with just your regular dodge then the fight is not fair.

what is the difference between the two Malzone and the two final boss quests when joining others?
One of them has Fiorayne tagging along, the other (when you read the person assigning the quest you can tell), doesn't.
She assigns the versions you can do after you beat it the first time, and she doesn't come along to help, so you can only get her the first time or if you're joining someone playing it for the first time.
The MR grind is bad and I don't like it. I am like MR54 and just want to fight Valstrax and Scorned Magnamalo and be done with the game, but I have to fight dudes I've already killed a bunch of times over and over again to be allowed to do so.

I think Thunder is a more common weakness in general
From what I can tell from the info on the wiki, thunder has the least number of monsters that are immune to it, fire has the most number of monsters it is most effective on but also the most that are immune to it, and ice being sort of the middle of the road. Water isn't very useful as far as damage goes, but IIRC it's super useful in reducing monster stamina, but I think ice does that too? I can't remember how elements affect monsters.
Oh, I just meant in the entire series overall. I remember Thunder being strong against a majority of the GU cast which had the biggest monster roster in the series. Could be Ice is better in SB.
i'd guess that's because thunder is consistently good against flying wyverns except for those that are thunder monsters themselves and GU is littered with those
Guess it's more of a personal taste, then. I never really like using thunder weapons because ice weapons somehow have a more satisfying, chunky sound to them. At least, that's how I justify taking ice weapons to monsters immune to ice damage.
I actually cannot beat Furious Georg, I have never been walled in Monster Hunter thid bad before. Any other game I failed a quest in, I just went and grinded a few armor upgrades, but there's nothing I can upgrade anymore. What the frick do I do?

Go all in on defense and healing. You're given 50 minutes to kill it, so your damage does not matter in the long stretch. Just focus on survival and throw in a few hits whenever you can.
What weapon?
He's genuinely not that bad. I had to fully learn him in the Arena because I was using the hammer, a weapon I don't play, after just brute forcing him with my glaive on the normal run. It's a very fair fight.
After the corkscrews or big belly flow in his fully enraged state he always pauses for a good while, you can get some free hits in there. Baiting out the overhead punch which creates a single line of shockwave is an easy one to sidestep and punish too.
When he's not enraged stick close and bait out the flurry of punches. If you're right on him they'll all go over your head, and you'll be right on top of him after he does the final hit and pauses so can wail on him.
He also has a long pause after the giant rock toss (the version where he jumps back and throws it at you)

Fio is almost always good, and Hinoia is great if you want someone focus on healing/trapping more then damage.
Fio, crazy gunner lady and elder fugen have been alright. Jae ran all the way across the map to mount a narga and then got bodied so hard by zinogre that he didn't get a single attack off before having to dump the mount
I don't think I've ever seen Fugen get downed, but I'm not sure how much damage he is doing either.

Raging brachy meltdown looks pretty great.
Brachy is just Brachy. Raging is Raging Brachydios if it wasn't a weak, slow piece of shit like in 4U. Once you get it to low health he goes to his nest and once you enter he makes the entrance crumble and punches the ground so hard its own body slime turns off and nobody leaves the area until either you or him die.
He is okay, but because he isn't an Elder Dragon (hint: Anything that isn't an elder dragon get push aside quicky), both version stop being relevant. At least they try to fix this crap with Rise with how there more variety of monsters to fight while Sunbreak added the Afflicted to make Non-Elderdragon relevant by having KEY MATERIALS for the best weapon.

Ada is easily the best-looking girl to come out of the RE Engine, though RE8 girls are at least a step forward compared to the rest. But yes, actually designing female faces instead of using face scan for 'realistic' looks is obviously better.

someone told me it is retroactive, but it doesn't count until after you finish a quest with uncapped MR first (once you do that, it will kick in and you gain all the XP at once)
Yeah I gained different amounts of MR increase after reaching the caps, but I don't know if 1-6 already stores it or not

As refence, you can just Draw, run, Draw still if you want, but it's only at best ~300 damage per hit. Even Lance using a wirebug skill can hit that hard while doing more constant damage all the while. GS is about bruteforcing the lv3 third charge attack so you unga bunga 2000+ damage because that's how it keeps up with the other weapons output. But you can still hunt like that, vastly slower mind, but there's enough time on the clock that allows for it.

I never played the HR quests so he was new to me, he carted me twice with the move that spawns rotating Dragonators until I realized that I had to get close to him not stay outside
His HR solo quest was pretty tough to begin with if you ask me
