Plenty of people are willing to shut out all negativity in their lives, or other people's lives in order to believe in a benevolent creator. They can delude themselves into believing all evil is manmade, when viruses, prions, bacteria, all manner of tragic accidents are not man made. I think anyone who has watched an adult baboon tear into and eat a baby baboon groin first would come to the conclusion that this is what life is built upon, and it is a contrivance of horror. Plenty of people are willing to completely stymy their process of thinking with "That's just the way things are" as a method of not thinking about it.
