In biblical apocrypha, fallen angels were the ones that introduced weapons to humanity. This fits with Exor falling from the heavens.

It must be pretty peaceful. It's not really "Mario's world" though since he comes from Earth, it should call it the Mushroom World or something.

Either way, Mario and Wario have appeared in games together, Wario accepted part of Mario canon. Wario's own friend group includes Kat and Ana, who both use swords.

    >castles and bullets exist
    >not swords
    ...why?

I think it's just a reference to the original idea for the game being Mario riding a horse and using a sword. Then a survey among children said he should use a hammer instead.

Why would they say this? I'm pretty sure tons of Mario enemies use swords.

What about those knight enemies in Luigi’s Mansion 2 that attack with swords? Or all the swords in the Ruined Kingdom in Odyssey?

Smithy introduced swords to Mario's world. Despite his defeat, swords ended up spreading around the world. DKC takes place after SMRPG, hence why the Kremlings have them everywhere.

What kind of moronic name is "Exor", anyway? There isn't even an o in Excalibur. In Japanese he's just called Calibur.

Calibur would be a little too on the nose.

The name spoken by a Neosquid.

When Nintendo revealed SMRPG was being developed in Shoshinkai 94 they showed two mario designs, one with a sword and one with a mallet, the one with a mallet got an overwhelmingly positive response. That's the reason.

Mario's world is metaphorical. He just doesn't care about blades and never learned anything about them that doesn't involve food.
