it doesn't look very good.
The screenshots look like they just took the old maps and added skyboxes, bumpmapping and volumetric lighting without changing the actual map geometry
This. The original is great. Played it for the first time this year and had no problems getting into it. At first it's a bit awkward to wrestle with the UI but then it just becomes an immersive part of the experience. Cyberspace is pretty questionable but otherwise it's an awesome game.
>way spookier than SS1.
Good thing Night dive is going to amend this by turning off all the lights and remove the music.
If every floor is dark like maintenance, then that means every floor is as spooky too.
How many System Shock sequals and remakes are currently in development?
I heard there was a SS3, this Nightdive remake, and a remake of SS2 all in the works currently, but the only thing we have any real news on is the remake.
SS3 is dead, it was being made by some Z-tier studio that ran out of money.
System Shock 2 isn’t a remake but a NightDive “enhanced edition” like Shadow Man or whatever. So right now it’s just the full remake of SS1 and the remaster of SS2.
>warren spector
Most of Deus Ex 1 was done by the other guy. People really overestimate Specter's acomplishments. SS3 being in development hell is on surprise, considering he wanted to humanize Shodan in SS3 and explain her reasons. The old moron forgot the last 2 games where her reasons were explained.
There was also that one dev that called out Specter's bullshit that ss3 was doing fine.
Factor in the fact that most immersive sims have a hit or miss rocky development, and its no surprise why SS3 got screwed.
Nightdive are parasites
You're just now figuring out they're never going to release it?
bump
I was excited about this.
Must've played BioShock through around 20-25 times; was interested in an update of it's spiritual predecessor. Damn.
You can't rush quality.
>release date
All I see is coming soon. Was there a date before?
It used to say "summer 2021" until like a week ago lmao
Funded in 2016
1st announced release was 2018
Most recent announced release was summer 2021
>posting webm of the old demo build
it doesn't look very good.
The screenshots look like they just took the old maps and added skyboxes, bumpmapping and volumetric lighting without changing the actual map geometry
>without changing the actual map geometry
thats the point dummy
Just play the original greatness.

>stutterbug still hasn't been fixed half a year + later
You literally can't unless you play on a toaster, the game is unplayable unless you're on an older build and I'm not buying this shit on gog
Are you using the Enhanced Edition? You gotta go DOS bro.
not him but recommend some good ports then, with the same HD and controls, quicksaving and loading
Go
I recommend the game that came on the CD back in 1994. That or you might be able to find an old build of System Shock Portable.
>quicksaving
serves you right for playing the shitty KEX port, dumbfrick
this, most great old pc games do not need remakes just go play the original.
>played it last week
>amazing game
>dont care about Nightdive's new remastered version
is system shock 2 as based as system shock 1?
Maybe more based
Yes, it's much more of a RPG though
Yeah SS2 is great. More modern so you wont have to wrestle with the UI. RPG elements might be a turn off.
Some things are better, others worst, the first part of the game is way spookier than SS1.

SS2 is a 10/10 action rpg
SS1 is so ugly and 386 I can't even play it
it's an immersive sim
>SS1 is so ugly
Ok zoom zoom.
maybe SHODAN just wanted to play video games

Where’d you hear there was a system shock 2 remake?

Listen to this shit I randomly found some day
https://soundcloud.com/nightdivestudios/system-shock-soundtrack-zircon-jonathan-peros-ethical-constraints-removed-ss-intro-remix
Kino
will this be in the game? I will buy the game if the soundtrack is going to be like this.
what song is?
it's not from system shock 2?
The track plays during the intro cutscene of System Shock (and part of the System Shock 2 intro as well). They did a remix for the remake
Here's the original
Do people still want this?
>>Steathily changes release date on store page and acts like nothing happened
how old are you?
We are about 2.5 years away from a decade PAST the promised release date. Scam Citizen promised to launch in 2014. In a couple months it is 2022.
lmao when star citizen finally releases all you naysaying pissbabies will be screaming and crying
your tears will be delicious
That's like gloating that you finished the triathlon at the olympics 5 months after everyone else already went home.
and system shock 3 has no date
>Tencent
Keep it away from me
does not have warren spector as main director?
>warren spector

What has he made in the last 20 years? Epic Mickey? I'm not optimistic
It looks like shit anyways, nothing of value was lost.
