^ You are my homie.
Walking throughout Central Park with this absolute banger playing is just way too comfy.
No Digimon game has ever beat this feeling for me.
My only experience with Digimon World 3 is a short one.
Had a disc for it (somehow) and I don't even remember what happened to it. But it got all scratched up if I recall.
Tried putting it in as a kid, intro always loaded.
Then it got stuck loading once I went past the first room of the very start of the game.
Then I heard years later the game fricking blew, so I guess it was a blessing in disguise.
World 3 is the opposite of the modern Digimon games, everything, BUT the gameplay is 10/10 pure, unfiltered, SOVL. Whereas the modern Digimon games (cyberbawds/HM/NO) have good gameplay, but dogshit everything else.
Mediocre, but competent is still better than the dogshit grind, random encountrers every 2 step, and constant step retracing hell that was World 3. World 3 got carried so hard by the art and sound team, it's not even funny.
It's a shame that no game ever since has matched the World 3 aesthetic, and probably never will. Wild how it's one of the best looking games of all time and no one knows that it is.
>when everyone loves then for their animations, music and storyline that people love to use as examples as how lazy Pokemon is
Touch grass you delusional hipster
Cyber sleuth isn't bad it's just very budget.
The sound effects in particular are very unappealing. Sounds like slapping a desk with a ruler when a mon gets hit with an attack. It also needs to take place in the digital world, modern japan is a fricking boring setting.
>It also needs to take place in the digital world, modern japan is a fricking boring setting.
I'd be fine with a mix of both tbh. CS just needed more visual variety outside of "virtual cubes and geometric shapes" and shit.
Seeing digimon and the digital world interact with the real world is fun and interesting, you just need the digital world to be much more visually fantastical and varied than the real world.
reminder that making me go through the entire game again the same exact way just to progress the story is grounds for immediate and unrepentant bashing of your shitass game
An enhancement would be toning down the encounters or making the fighting fun enough to not want to turn it off. You may as well just turn on infinite heath or invincibility and mash triangle.
>>let's have ironic weebs learn Japanese so they can shit up another hobby
lmao if you think subhumans would learn for any reason instead of keeping on being bottom feeding leeches in every sense
>lmao if you think subhumans would learn
they'll just b***h for furigana and then plug their half-assed transcriptions into israelitegle translate and claim they know the language.
hell, your average pozcalizer is barely above that already.
It feels foreign and like it's hurrying you along to get out, which matches the actual location which you can only access starting mid-game and which is hostile as frick to navigate, you'd think such an aspect would make the game less comfy but it only enhances the safe comfy bits and makes you appreciate them.
definitely not the same game >completely different combat system (damage formulas, techniques, elements, etc.) >different evo system where each mon has at most 3 evo lines >has passive ability system >has level caps (not that annoying since you only lose like 30% of stats unlike in DW2 where you had to sacrifice 2 mons to raise the cap by 2~4 levels AND lose 80% of your stats) >farm system has nothing to do with DW3 >completely different setting >etc.
>muh party
just find the DRI agents. that's literally what they're for. you should be fine unless you were moronic enough to level everyone past the level limit to trigger Veemon's.
I was moronic as a child and chose maniac cuz you could get Agumon relatively early and they were the trio on the box :y
The one with Guilmon is by far the easiest one. Bearmon's focus energy beats the crap out of everyone, and Guilmon's team-wide buffs are way too fricking busted
how so? the bear sucks but guilmon destroys everything in its path
>guilmon destroys everything in its path
maybe after you get rockbreaker (sword that confuses) from the Asuka heavy armory. otherwise it's too squishy early on.
Which is preferable? Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you + and the world, or having the ability to collect any digimon you want and make whatever team you want at the cost of no set personalities and interactions?
>Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you + and the world >or having the ability to collect any digimon you want and make whatever team you want at the cost of no set personalities and interactions?
If I had to pick, definitely the former. Only dumb pokegays would pick the latter.
Anyway, there's no reason why you can't have both: Digimon World DS had a Pagumon you only saw during cutscenes who later gave you Antylamon's data. Survive pulled it off too with a fixed party for the story + recruitable mons.
Guilmon and Agumon were always my favorites, I just feel silly looking back cuz I just wanted the ones on the box lol
Though I think I grew out of it eventually, cuz I remember running Veemon behind Guil & Agu eventually
Agumon and Guilmon are the best, because they have the easiest path to alternate evolution megas. You can get BlackWarGreymon before your Agumon reaches level 20.
Balanced
Eventually you can filter out Renamon and Patamoj for Agumon and Guilmon once Kotemon unlocks his healing. Renaming is also good for DNA evo with Kotemon so you can keep her around too if you like.
I both hate and love these loadouts, you aren't allowed to make your own dream team but it somehow lends to the experience, like there were alternate full paths you could've taken and would've wanted to but chose not to. If you could pick and choose you'd forget about the rest.
You do get to assemble your "dream team"
The ones you don't start with + Veemon are available by finding researchers that are fanboys of the digimon in particular and bringing them data from the corresponding 3rd stage evo
True but at that point you've already spent a ton of time with at least 1 Digimon you weren't wild about, they weren't discarded at the start screen forever.
>More RPG/monster games need things AFK things you can put your side monsters to work with
Lemme tell you about a game called Digimon Story

I have the Cyber Sleuth/Hackers Memory combo on Switch, but after finishing Cyber Sleuth and having to start from scratch again, I got kinda burnt out, plus the farm stuff just didn't grab my interest much.

homie you treid very hard this thread but no one is gonna play that shit. Nt tho
The worst part is the EXP rates from battles are disproportionately low so it takes forever to level up even from level 1. Especially Kumamon who just levels significantly slower than the rest
>actually put together my super special snowflake Agumon-Veemon-Guilmon team >got bored of trying to raise Veemon's level and powered through everything with Guilmon as Gallantmon
Is there any mon more useless than Patamon? >peanut damage >weak weapons (low damage, no confusion, no OHKO, etc.) >less squishy than Guilmon but still mediocre HP >only weak offensive wind spells >no useful buffs >no useful evos until you get digitamamon's OHKO or holyangemon's heaven's gate (but that one can't be loaded)
If I'm in charge or remaking Digimon world 3, I would redo all the moronic story.
Remove random encounters and make it like Digimon world 1, bumping into enemies to start a fight.
Also fix the whole battle system because it's sluggish as frick.
Just use any emulator with a built in speed hack and use it in every battle.
Git gud, scrub
I finished it 100% speed, emulated without any hacks a few years ago and doing another run recently
I love the game, but I can't pour so much time into the sluggish battle animations. I watch every animation at original speed the first few times and then I just go speed hack.
I'm 32. I've already beaten the game a couple of times. If I ever pick it up again I'll enjoy the atmosphere and overall experience in the original speed, but I sure as hell ain't gonna waste hours watching my BLKWargreymon slap pesky enemies. It was ok back then, but now it's unacceptable.
21
Can someone this age really apreciate a game like DW3?
nta but I'm 30
been playing a couple of JRPGs recently but have fast forward on, kinda hard to ignore when the devs put in these features in their remasters themselves
Which is preferable? Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you + and the world, or having the ability to collect any digimon you want and make whatever team you want at the cost of no set personalities and interactions?
If they really wanted to, they could easily do both where your partner has a set personality and voice even when they digivolve or devolve into various different Digimon.
It's even canon in Digimon lore that some Digimon retains their memory/personality even when they die and reincarnate.
Strict I feel that differentiates it the best from pokemon and I was always a fan of the anime rule of a digimon's evolution reflecting your mental state.
Strict, monster collection has never been a digimon thing. Your partner can evolve into many different forms, there's no need for you to "catch em all". Also, Digimon are intelligent, not mere pets that can understand commands.
>Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you +
This is what I've always wanted the only game to do it was a fricking SMT for kids game
It's not conveyed very well, ut believe it or not, the "ice cream" is just snow/ice. The blue part underneth is the actual monster. It's not real food, just a sort of mimic.
>cryogonal is not the pokemon, it is a spirit that is invisible. the snowflake shape is just a mimic.

>this design isn't logical >actual it is and here's why >u-uh well I don't like it so there
moron
I just don't like how his proportions are wildly different every time I see him. I love the more chibi-fied, rounder, short Bearmon (picrel). That one's in the DW3 concept art, coverart, as well as the DW3 opening. But then you have the tall chunky Bearmon from Frontier which has persisted ever since. I hate the tall chunky Bearmon.
CS mostly seems to use toei anime designs rather the bandai ones. It's why Gabumon in CS is the chubby motherfricker from Adventure instead of the big teeth gremlin from DW1 and other pre-anime media.
Digimon World is unironically great for what it is, and there's not a single other game that tried to replicate what it does (exploration based monster raising game that does not have turn based combat), which makes it more infuriating that the devs abandoned the game concept for generic turn based RPG for the sequels because that's what sells at the time.
You're only rating them that because you're a digimon fan. You need to look at this from an outsider's POV.
There's the card game for the ps1?
Yes. They aren't the same card game but they have some similarities. Like how all digimon are sorted into colors and any digimon in one color can evolve into any digimon of the same color and next level if you pay a cost.
Just try it right now. Here.

I'm at work right now so I can't. I'm planning on emulating those games on my Deck. As a kid I only had the cards and a tomogatchi so it'll be interesting to see what I missed.
Will never be topped. The aesthetics of a real, digital world. The amazing, free form gameplay, and exploration. Secrets, upon secrets to uncover. God like mini games, and quests.
so you could take in the SOUL as you played the game. >no fast travel
but there is: see the sea bed, circuit board
if anything, the bastards should have included a map for CB.
>this weird phenomena where Digimon is, in a roundabout way, the reason why you learned Japanese?
Yes. The plan was to learn enough to get through Re: Digitize Decode, but it got translated before I was done so whatever.
I mean how roundabout are we talking? Digimon was the first animu that made me take notice of anime as its own thing, so it might have set me on the path to becoming a weeb, but otherwise I don't think I ever had it in mind. Don't really think it was one thing in particular.
Guilmon and Patamon hav no defense/survivability. Kumamon has the best survivability but he levels so incredibly slowly that he always falls behind the games difficulty curve.
>Did I frick myself by picking the guilmon kumamon patamon team
Yes, the powerful or balanced teams are the way to go.
You can get all the Digimon that any of the packs are missing, so either of them is fine. There's side quests to get their DNA by beating their Ultimate forms (you better use a guide for them though, because some of them are extremely easy to miss and involve many convoluted steps like Veemon iirc.)
>beat the 2003 version >no idea how to activate the tournament
I can only run around the main city and seemingly endless underground mazes. What am i doing wrong? I want to fight in the tournament.
need to forge the 5 legendary weapons in the normal game to access the tournament iirc.
For that you need to level up kumamon, kotemon, monmon, renamon or patamon, guilmon or agumon at level 45 and go through the world finding the secret digimon blacksmith.
You can have some guess because Metaletemon in kulon pit says something about forge weapons and maybe you can encounter a blacksmith if you're lucky enough.
but that you need all five weapons and finding the blacksmiths to battle the post-game tournament is almost impossible without a guide.
Considering the blacksmiths ONLY appear if you have the specific item with the specific digimon within a specific level and in a specific area, a lot of times very hidden. No way to do
Sticking with Patamon, Guilmon, and Kumamon. My Patamon got four circle things in a row doing yoga now boom bubble deals 830 damage to Kunemon. What the frick.
When I was a tiny child with no concept of "this is an optional boss you can come back to later", I grinded my ass off till all 3 of my digimon got their signature Ultimate forms before leaving east sector, and stomped him and the other bosses.
Then i mostly cruised through most of the game stopping to grind maybe 1 more time
>released on 18 November 2023
oh wow I did not even notice, holy shit
I'm even more baffled now that not only someone seemingly put all that effort in it, but after almost 25 years too
Im in a run right now with that patch, it's good so far but I'm at almost at the beggining of the game with a garurumon anyways so I can't say that much about changes.
For me it was the inn's.
I know there is a digimon mmo out there but it's a soul destroying korean p2w trash instead of comfykino like this game.
I guess it's too late for that now?
>actually really like the gameplay of the DS games
how? it's blander than fricking dragon quest >take mons to farm, train >take them out of the farm, btw you have to re-equip them every time :^) >go to dungeon. encounters every 3 steps, and that fricking annoying scan animation that lasts longer than a battle >how the frick does the elemental roulette work? buffs and items do nothing than provide shit like +30 to attack (is that a lot even?). do they even stack? >boost your speed, nothing changes in the turn order >what is the point of spreading out your digimon if you lose the party boosts? >poison is worthless unless you're slow as frick and the opponent takes 5 turns before you >status effects are worthless since bosses are immune to them (paralysis, sleep)
I mean maybe I overdid the farm thing, but I never got where the difficulty was.
Boy I sure do love running around blind in a screen full of blue blocks that never go away because the disk got fricked up by the tiniest of scratches.
The only game worth playing is the first Digimon World. It's was made before the anime so it works on completely different rules, I'd painful at times, and great.
I know that JRPGs from that gen used to be very grindy on average, but DW3 is a whole other level really
Given there's no such thing as trying to go for a balanced team in that game, you just hyperfocus on a single mon and give it the counter badge
Gryzmon's existence makes me think that they were originally gonna give Bearmon a "It just gets bigger" evolution line, then gave up halfway through realizing that It would be unfair to Kotemon and Koemon
>spirit
that only affects magic damage and defense. magic accuracy and evasion, and status effect accuracy and resistance (including KO and weapon effects) is dictated by wisdom
magic got so shafted in DW3 >need to raise SPR for damage, WIS for accuracy, SPD to get turns >physical attackers only need attack and spd to do damage >all magic has a damage cap >only upside is you get magic defense and status resistance
I actually felt like offensive spells were a trap on Patamon.. Because then both attacking and supporting both use up your mp resource. I got a lot more mileage out of Patamon by focusing on attack/speed, so attacking doesn't waste mp, and then you'll be able to support a lot more.
Way less annoying for all the backtracking, you'll constantly have mp to heal all party members after each battle, and I never had to buy consumables.
>make a new game >Give myself a party of Agumon, Guilmon, and Veemon >Give myself their best equipment >they get their shit pushed in
I thought equipment mattered but I guess not.
>Playing DW2003 in emulator so I could experience what I missed as a child >Instead of saving the game I'd just savestate and continue later >The game has some memory issue after you've played it for like 20(?) hours in a row >I was in the abandoned factory >Had to find my way out to the oasis save spot while blind to not lose effectively all my progress.
If you don't actually restart the game by resetting the emulator/playstation or whatever and just play with savestates the entire time at some point the "loading blocks" for the game just stop going away and you have to navigate blind, the game is still functional and you can get into battle and menus and all that but there's no way to know where you are in the maps.

Also I doublechecked and it actually happens at about 38 non-stop/savestated ingame hours even if you're using emulator speed-up (So this means it happens faster if you use it)
for me it was getting my 200h+ memory card file randomly corrupted and unable to load
I'll just use a cheat save file when I actually want to do it I'm not grinding all that again
>>Had to find my way out to the oasis save spot while blind
holy shit that happened to me too. I thought it was my computer was having a stroke or something.
anyway, this isn't the only PS1 game with issues if you run it for too long, so do try to save often.
>memory issue after you've played it for like 20(?) hours in a row

>elaborate
the game fails to load map tiles and you eventually have to navigate everything blind. if it gets bad enough, even screens from talking to NPCs will fail.

basically >battles are only good for money early on >happiness above 80 at all times >sweatdrop bad >you can unlock autopilots on your first day. use them >care mistakes are not feeding, not sleeping, shitting >the slots are rigged to only work sometimes. still more efficient than plain training if you're good at them >etc.

This game had a lot of potential but it does get bogged down by encounter rates and constant back tracking but the world is really cool looking and fun to explore despite that
part of the fun is trying to figure out how shit works
that said if you value your time you're better off getting some hints from a guide, at least with regard to the digivolution system
i'd recommend not to spoil yourself on the exploration part of the game though
>that you could pay for if you wanted to
Digital Tamers Reborn maybe? I'd say It's a lot more like Championship than World though.
There's also a MMO fangame that's more DW1-like called W0rld, but you need an actual V-pet to play it and i'm not sure if it fits that description.
Seeing people slowly get turned into Oinkmon over the course of the game was unsettling. Especially after you do what you think fixes the problem, only for EVERYONE but you to become Oinkmon.
I liked how Digimon World 1/3 would just have random objects in the world, with no real rhyme or reason - you couldn't interact with them, or inspect them, they were just bizarre set dressing.
Same, it made sure to keep the world feeling artificial, digital, instead of having deserts and forests being generic. It reminded me of DW1 doing a similar thing.
>From the time we are born, we are all forced to take from one another. >If the act of taking from others is a sin, then all life is sinful. >Now, come. Try to kill me. >I will do the same.
Wasn't there a frick huge difficulty spike when going to the other server?
I remember crushing every encounter before travelling there and suddenly all the random digimon were one shooting my party.
There was a non winnable boss fight that they threw at you in the swampy zone and that lost me 5 hours once. Other than that unless you were doing a low level run/did no grinding you prolly did okay. I did a lot of grinding so that might be why i dont remember it being rough
>copy-pasted labyrinth of rooms that look exactly the same >random encounters up the ass, especially in 2 tunnels >your only guide are digimon sprinkled occasionally sprinkled through rooms >there's no map, and the game never tells you where each hole leads >digmon moves slower than a granny in a wheelchair
You seriously can't defend circuit board
Wasn't there a frick huge difficulty spike when going to the other server?

>Wasn't there a frick huge difficulty spike when going to the other server?
If you go in the direction of chin long city, not really. If you go to Amaterasu City, expect to get your shit kicked in. Also, see the rape bridge. Pic related.
Still probably one of the biggest dick moves I remember in an RPG.
This was where I remember the last time I played DW3. I even had a guide, but I was too moronic to read it proper and I just wanted to look at all the pictures and digimon
>the rape bridge
Funny story. I was too stubborn to give up on the rape bridge, so I grinded my ass off.
Once I maxxed out, I went back and beat them. Only to find out it doesn't matter, you still can't enter the city there.
>DNA
Whenever I used it, it dealt next to no damage. Then one day I come across a FAQ and it turns out that its power depends on the evos used, not the end result.
It just pisses me off that Digimon can frick up something so simple as determining the power of an ability.
Haha, yeah, it is. Do you have a relation to that sifu mod by chance?
I wouldn't be posting about it if I had, would I?

>non winnable boss fight that they threw at you in the swampy zone
Which one? I don't remember anything like that. You mean Zanbamon? The game stops you from rematching it, and it's easily solved by moving towards the inn and checking everything on the way there and moving around the map to get some 'evil-dispelling sesame' or something like that (smelly herb in the translation).
>there's no cheat for giving EXP for all your mons, right
you don't need one. you can powerlevel the frick out of the game with 1 mon: >get your ass to central park and kill a few kunemon >move on to plug cape at around lv 3~4 and kill betamon and vegiemon >get your El Dorado ID ASAP and go to Asuka's heavy armory, buy AM server-tier equipment >after 6~7 cross the bridge and go up the ramp to fight triceramon >by 9 cross the bridge back and go fight coelamon on the sandy area >after lv 12, get the fishing rod and fight divermon until you get to ~lv 20 >make it to jungle shrine and kill those numemon bastards until you hit ultimate >finish things off by fishing for pink ebidramon once you cross to AM >bonus: get to AM kulon mines and fish for black anomalocarimon. hopefully you'll get one of those training chip V (1/512 drop rate iirc, or was it 1/256) >for the rest, just buy strong equips from the AS heavy armory, or the AM mirage tower and watch their levels shoot up faster than cum up angewomon's ass
To this day, I'm still seething about that quest. Like what where the devs thinking?!
>bawww baww muh backtracking
disable random encounters and it'll be a non-issue. no one likes refighting weak enemies over and over. if you feel bad about cheating you can just trigger one manually every screen with R1+down
the real kick in the balls are the missable auctions, which the game never announces
Probably not considering the time frame and what they did to stretch the game out with the mirror servers.
>Probably not considering the time frame
this. the american release was rushed to hell and back.
considering the troubled production pipelines the franchise is known for, it's a miracle digimon has survived this long.
I never understood how to get the El Dorado ID, but I think it has something to do with the equipment your digimon are wearing. Like they have to be "cool" enough to get in or something.
>I never understood how to get the El Dorado ID
charisma. it's the same stat that dictates whether people will battle you or play card battles. although it kinda sucks is once it goes up you can't lower it.
>disable random

And one was included in the game, while the other wasn't. Disabling random encounter is literally cheating by definition because it wasn't intended.

Jesus you dumb zoomies are intolerable. You should be rounded up and shot. I bet you think bugfix patches are cheating too because they make the game 'easier' by fixing glitches "already in the game." >disables encounters
you can trigger them every step if you wish you stupid dumbfricks.

>Bugs are not intended.
that's relative. I'll keep IPS patching my games to fix them. meanwhile you can continue to seethe about "cheating" in single-player games.
An enhancement would be toning down the encounters or making the fighting fun enough to not want to turn it off. You may as well just turn on infinite heath or invincibility and mash triangle.
>An enhancement would be toning down the encounters
no, that's a modification, therefore it's 'cheating' as per your moronic definition. >making the fighting fun enough to not want to turn it off
you can't do that with enemies that you kill 10 times when you so much as sneeze. and the cheat lets you trigger encounters manually so you can spam R1+down to waste time until your your 'anti-cheating' autism is satisfied
Seriously, I don't know what's wrong with you people. You're as moronic as the morons who defend hatching 30 eggs for perfect IVs in pokeyman

I'm with you Anon, frick the dogshit encounter rate. I dealt with it by playing at like 3x the speed but I'll need to see about just outright disabling encounters. That alone would make the game much more tolerable. Only other thing that bugs me is the sluggish battle animations which again I can just speed up, although it does pain me that the game needs so much help just to be fun but there's a decent game buried under all the moronic balancing and speed decisions.

I never seethed. I didn’t even disagree with you doing it. How you play your games is none of my business.

Are you a save state enabler too? There is a clear factor you're missing of one is something with a cost, and the other is a cheat to skip the game.

Who's the one b***hing; the Anon spitting facts, or you who are coping with the fact that you have to use cheats to enjoy the game?
No one's telling you not to use cheats, but stop being such a crybaby and accept that you're using cheats to play the game in a way that the developers never intended you to.
Repels are intended, straight up disabling the encounters entirely is not.
yeah it's called go to the starter forest, tape the analog stick into a top-right or top-left position (bottom causes other options to get selected in the battle menu), find something heavy but small enough to hold down the X button and only the X button, then go sleep, wake up, go to school and come back many hours later to many levels. next day, switch mons.
rinse and repeat for a week or so, switching up the forest with another zone once your mon can one-shot monsin there
that's what i did 2 decades ago and i just kicked the entire game's teeth in without a problem okay one problem: the rape bridge
Oh man I remember as I kid exploring the Amaterasu server like crazy trying to find a way to get into the other servers. I kept thinking there was a secret entrance to one of them.
I fricking love how cryptic and obtuse this game was, made it feel like a real MMO. The backtracking and random encounters held it back a bit but also added to the charm because you always felt on edge.
Yeah nah frick it I got to try world 3 now, I played dusk as a kid and loved the shit out of it, maybe I can harness it to be okay with the grind and shit maps again.
Just kidding, it's really only one particular Guilmon that screws you over. The partner Guilmon you get at the beginning of the game is solid. Mine unlocked Metal Mamemon really early for me and carried me through the first half of the game.
>Subgays >*tear up when hearing butterfree for the 1000th time* >evolution names based of girly tamagotchi names >dubchads >CHAMPION, MEGA >Heaps of funny jokes in the dub. Knows how to have a good laugh >DIGIMON ARE THE CHAMPIONS
>kid me gets to this point after running around like a fricking headless chicken searching for the fake Baronmon >fricker has the gall to ask me for materials even after getting his precious mask back >remember having a bomb at some point, don't remember where i got it from >don't remember where i got it from because making progress in this game as a kid takes for fricking ever >waste precious afternoons just killing enemies at random until i find it >coudn't >start a new save thinking it was a one-time item from a chest >one drops off the first triceramon i defeat in the dino valley in the new save, some good 20-30 or so hours in
And from that point on, I never again used a combat items in any RPG.
playing a game because your favorite eceleb is shilling it is peak secondary/poser behavior. only mindless lemmings do something because some homosexual with a lot of followers endorses it.
>the rape bridge
Funny story. I was too stubborn to give up on the rape bridge, so I grinded my ass off.
Once I maxxed out, I went back and beat them. Only to find out it doesn't matter, you still can't enter the city there.
>Only to find out it doesn't matter, you still can't enter the city there.
worst of all, if you do manage to beat them, you get garbled text as congratulations and the game softlocks.
>playing a game because your favorite eceleb is shilling it is peak secondary/poser behavior.
I don't see what that has to do with the reply chain you're in.
I don't get how progression works, I stumbled into Zanbamon in his shrine and he kicked my ass. Got the submarine and found Datamon, he beat the shit out of me too. Are these bosses supposed to be just at random places? Is there a way to know if I have a chance at beating them BEFORE I get my shit pushed in?
Also is TP a limited resource? I've been going ham on one stat for each of the Digimon. And speaking of Digimon I managed to get Agumon and Guilmon too as extra members but I'm not sure when I should switch to them since I'm already used to party pack A.
>Are these bosses supposed to be just at random places?
Not really. They are really out of the way (e.g. Tyranno Valley's peak, Pharaomon's throne).
A lot of bosses will refuse to fight you if you're not at the right point in the story. I know because I tried to sequence break the shit out of the game and Pharaomon, MasterTyrannomon, HiAndromon, Nanomon, etc. will just tell you to piss off if you walk up to them too early. Also, you can catch a glimpse of Minoru looking for her onii-chan at Protocol Forest, and Baromon's foreshadowing during story beats is hilarious.
And iirc some require you to talk to them twice to trigger their battles. >Zanbamon
You're only supposed to face it when you're ready to leave Asuka. The devs were just kind enough to let you battle it anytime. >Datamon
afaik you can't fight it until you get kicked out of Asuka City. >Is there a way to know if I have a chance at beating them BEFORE I get my shit pushed in?
Just save and try it? Party buffs are super busted, so be sure to use them.
>Also is TP a limited resource?
Yes >any points accumulated beyond the cap of 99 are lost >the ideal way to spend them is on super training at the legendary gym (note: you can't ace the same super training twice in a row) >you can beat the game with a lv 40~45 party just fine >if you plan to forge all the legendary weapons for a quest, you'll have to get every single partnermon in the game to lv 45 anyway >the only way to obtain TP is from chips dropped by certain enemies (e.g. pink ebidramon has TP chip 2, orange snimon has TP chip 3, black scorpiomon has TP chip 5). they have abysmal drop rates though (1/256 was it?) and they can't be stolen >alternatively, you can just steal stat chips from enemies which have them (e.g. Musyamon has MP chips).
Either way, neither option is very appealing.
I'd be more worried about DV EXP, which you can only get up to 10 per battle, with most evos gaining 1 lousy skill point per 10 DV EXP. This makes unlocking beefy evos like Belzebumon and Impy a major pain in the ass.
do you have to figure out digivolution the same way you do in 1? I was under the impression that I'd just unlock them naturally as I go but it doesn't seem to be the case if Patamon here is anything to go by
I'd rather not pop open a guide but if it's going to be tricky then I might just have to
They all have different requirements contingent upon you having an evolution unlocked, at a certain level, and with a specific stat at a high enough value. So yeah, you might need a guide just so you don't waste TP on the wrong stats.
Your partners' Adult, Perfect, and Ultimate stages all have their own evolutionary trees of forms they'll unlock.
>do you have to figure out digivolution the same way you do in 1?
only if you want something specific. each digimon has a main line you will unlock simply with leveling up. leveling up the evolutions you get unlock more evos too. stats are only relevant to a few evos each mon has.
>do you have to figure out digivolution the same way you do in 1?
not really. evos are unlocked in the following ways >stats (e.g. resistance to a certain element, defense, spirit) >leveling up certain evos (DV EXP needed per level varies from 10 to 50 depending on evo and often increases it reaches a lv threshold)
Every mon can unlock every evo in the game. Some evos are easier to unlock on certain mons.
If you plan to grind weak evos (e.g. Stingmon and ExVeemon), I personally recommend either >unlocking a very strong evo first and loading techs from it (loaded techs use the stats of the evo they were taken from for damage calculation, including the evolution damage bonus) >using a weapon or spell that induces confusion or instant death (and reasonably high wisdom to increase the success rate)
>weak evos
I mean they're not weak, but as you get through the game champions fall off hard, and top-tier evos like Impy PM are super bothersome to unlock, almost guaranteeing you'll reach well beyond lv 40.
PM in particular requires you to get Paildramon to 50, Impy to 99, and FM and Omnimon to 40. Omnimon has its own set of requirements too (WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon to 40, etc.)
I spent alot on jap bluray for naked ruki.
Anyway all PS1 Digimon games are amazing and my favorite are DW1/3 and played card game alot. Love 2 and arena also.

^ You are my homie.
Walking throughout Central Park with this absolute banger playing is just way too comfy.
No Digimon game has ever beat this feeling for me.
World3gays, your done.
I swear this in World 3 somewhere though? I've heard this despite only having played 3.
bring back neo crimson
superb game
Is it though? Is it
not really unfortunately
i feel very nostalgic about it and want to like it but it really is an absolute chore to play
Then I heard years later the game fricking blew, so I guess it was a blessing in disguise.
>plap
World 3 is the opposite of the modern Digimon games, everything, BUT the gameplay is 10/10 pure, unfiltered, SOVL. Whereas the modern Digimon games (cyberbawds/HM/NO) have good gameplay, but dogshit everything else.
>Cyber Sleuth is World 3 with a better combat system but worse worlds
I honestly don't know which one to prefer.
CSes gameplay is mediocre as shit. It feels like one from an RPG maker game where the creator didn't really put any thought into it.
Mediocre, but competent is still better than the dogshit grind, random encountrers every 2 step, and constant step retracing hell that was World 3. World 3 got carried so hard by the art and sound team, it's not even funny.
It's a shame we still haven't had a Digimon game that has matched World 3 aesthic.
It's a shame that no game ever since has matched the World 3 aesthetic, and probably never will. Wild how it's one of the best looking games of all time and no one knows that it is.
I'm working on it.
No frogposter has nor will ever create anything of any value.
You get those digital monsters off the internet tonight!
I don’t care what you do
>cyberbawds/HM
>dogshit everything else
>when everyone loves then for their animations, music and storyline that people love to use as examples as how lazy Pokemon is
Touch grass you delusional hipster
Cyber Sleuth STRONG
Cyber sleuth isn't bad it's just very budget.
The sound effects in particular are very unappealing. Sounds like slapping a desk with a ruler when a mon gets hit with an attack. It also needs to take place in the digital world, modern japan is a fricking boring setting.
>It also needs to take place in the digital world, modern japan is a fricking boring setting.
I'd be fine with a mix of both tbh. CS just needed more visual variety outside of "virtual cubes and geometric shapes" and shit.
Seeing digimon and the digital world interact with the real world is fun and interesting, you just need the digital world to be much more visually fantastical and varied than the real world.
that isn’t the digital world
You say that but you want to go holiday to Japan? Hello?
>Whereas the modern Digimon games (cyberbawds/HM/NO) have good gameplay
No they do not. SMT but bad is not good gameplay.

would have literally fixed all the 100% pointless backtracking
Random encounter rate decreased by 5 or 10 times would fix the backtracking.
Here's your fast travel you piece of shit.
No!
No, now give me my damn gabumon
Gabumon is kinda lame in DW1 since WereGarurumon got cut.
Turning your Garurumon into a fish or a skeleton just doesn't feel the same.
yeah but garurumon learns ice statue which fricks your shit up so worth
>Gabumon is kinda lame in DW1 since WereGarurumon got cut.

Unless captcha starts containing kanji no one's gonna learn shit
An enhancement would be toning down the encounters or making the fighting fun enough to not want to turn it off. You may as well just turn on infinite heath or invincibility and mash triangle.
>>let's have ironic weebs learn Japanese so they can shit up another hobby
lmao if you think subhumans would learn for any reason instead of keeping on being bottom feeding leeches in every sense

hell, your average pozcalizer is barely above that already.
I always say no because I like Gabumon better
Digi-sovl
One of the best songs in the game.
It feels foreign and like it's hurrying you along to get out, which matches the actual location which you can only access starting mid-game and which is hostile as frick to navigate, you'd think such an aspect would make the game less comfy but it only enhances the safe comfy bits and makes you appreciate them.
WOW this game fricking SUCKS now post some fricking renamon breasts (please)
No
Have Chadtchmon instead
They should make a sequel to this game with the same areas. Always loved the idea of the Digimon World being a high-tech VR MMO.
>They should make a sequel to this game
uhhhhhhhh
*knocks on your head*
hello? buddy boy? anybody in there? hellooo?
Its not a sequel tho
It's literally the same game but on the DS.
Have you actually seen the Gameplay of either of them? Do you think the Championship is a Seuel of World 1?
I would say that Story is a 'spiritual' sequel to World 3, yes.
No it isn't you fricking moron, it's entirely different.
definitely not the same game
>completely different combat system (damage formulas, techniques, elements, etc.)
>different evo system where each mon has at most 3 evo lines
>has passive ability system
>has level caps (not that annoying since you only lose like 30% of stats unlike in DW2 where you had to sacrifice 2 mons to raise the cap by 2~4 levels AND lose 80% of your stats)
>farm system has nothing to do with DW3
>completely different setting
>etc.
*ruins your game 30 hours in*
I love Monmon, but god his alternate evolution path sucks
Yea not picking renamon sucks
I always hated that you couldn't just pick guilmon, patamon and renamon.
Oh
You must have meant to post Guilmon, Agumon and Renamon haha
That's okay haha
never cared about agumon, cope
>muh party
just find the DRI agents. that's literally what they're for. you should be fine unless you were moronic enough to level everyone past the level limit to trigger Veemon's.
The one with Guilmon is by far the easiest one. Bearmon's focus energy beats the crap out of everyone, and Guilmon's team-wide buffs are way too fricking busted
>guilmon destroys everything in its path
maybe after you get rockbreaker (sword that confuses) from the Asuka heavy armory. otherwise it's too squishy early on.
>Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you + and the world
>or having the ability to collect any digimon you want and make whatever team you want at the cost of no set personalities and interactions?
If I had to pick, definitely the former. Only dumb pokegays would pick the latter.
Anyway, there's no reason why you can't have both: Digimon World DS had a Pagumon you only saw during cutscenes who later gave you Antylamon's data. Survive pulled it off too with a fixed party for the story + recruitable mons.
balanced is the coomer one isnt it
I always went Balanced.
I was moronic as a child and chose maniac cuz you could get Agumon relatively early and they were the trio on the box :y
how so? the bear sucks but guilmon destroys everything in its path
Guilmon and Agumon were always my favorites, I just feel silly looking back cuz I just wanted the ones on the box lol
Though I think I grew out of it eventually, cuz I remember running Veemon behind Guil & Agu eventually
Kotemon my homie
Agumon and Guilmon are the best, because they have the easiest path to alternate evolution megas. You can get BlackWarGreymon before your Agumon reaches level 20.
Kotemon is objectively the best, 30 minutes faster in the speedrun
>speed run
wow you're autistic
You're in a digimon thread
>troonrun
kekerinoe join the fortyone percenterinoe
What’s the actual best pick here?
Balanced
Eventually you can filter out Renamon and Patamoj for Agumon and Guilmon once Kotemon unlocks his healing. Renaming is also good for DNA evo with Kotemon so you can keep her around too if you like.
Maniac pack, and then you replace Patamon with Renamon
I guess that's true. I remember feeling bad about ignoring Patamon and Kumamon after getting Agu and Vee
More RPG/monster games need things AFK things you can put your side monsters to work with so they're not just sitting and falling behind
Has anyone built a sensible mid/late game leveling system that's not just Pokemon's copout tier EXP share
I always picked Maniac because i loved kumamon
For me, it was balanced with my wives Patamon and Renamon.
>terriermon wasn’t a partner you could have
Frick Yggdrasil and all digital creatures
>actually put together my super special snowflake Agumon-Veemon-Guilmon team
>got bored of trying to raise Veemon's level and powered through everything with Guilmon as Gallantmon
Powerfulchads assemble.
Absolute maniac.
Powerful pack best pack
If there was a pack of Gabumon though thta'd be the best one.
for me, it's Kyukimon
I get maniac and swap Patamon for Agumon since he's in early.
Is there any mon more useless than Patamon?
>peanut damage
>weak weapons (low damage, no confusion, no OHKO, etc.)
>less squishy than Guilmon but still mediocre HP
>only weak offensive wind spells
>no useful buffs
>no useful evos until you get digitamamon's OHKO or holyangemon's heaven's gate (but that one can't be loaded)
If I'm in charge or remaking Digimon world 3, I would redo all the moronic story.
Remove random encounters and make it like Digimon world 1, bumping into enemies to start a fight.
Also fix the whole battle system because it's sluggish as frick.
please please please have a nice day self self
>I would redo all the moronic story
Great, there's a Digi-ACgay.
>Great, there's a Digi-ACgay.
He's said re-do it not remove. But he's right, the DMW3 main storyline is a load of nonsense piled upon nonsense. Particularly AoA and MAGAMI,
The story was fun though.
I do agree random encounters get frustrating. Honestly I wish there was just an item like repel.
anyone knows if there's a cheat or mod to turn off random encounters? I kinda want to replay it and actually beat it for once
Git gud, scrub
I finished it 100% speed, emulated without any hacks a few years ago and doing another run recently
git gud at what?
>at what
At not being a fricking adhd zoomoid
engaging and thrilling JRPG gameplay of course
Just use any emulator with a built in speed hack and use it in every battle.
I love the game, but I can't pour so much time into the sluggish battle animations. I watch every animation at original speed the first few times and then I just go speed hack.
Post age.
21
As expected
As long as it's not all anime digimon I can be restricted. I want something like the first done well in a digimon game finally.
Strict. Feels like the anime and you still get cool evolutions. SURVIVE and World3 get this right, even if World and the Digifarm are fun.
But digimon is actually about fricking spastic spaghetti eco lines and the
Strict, monster collection has never been a digimon thing. Your partner can evolve into many different forms, there's no need for you to "catch em all". Also, Digimon are intelligent, not mere pets that can understand commands.
>Digimon are intelligent
The explain THIS
Digimon intelligence generally relates to their level. Bearmon is a child level, and generally has the intelligence of a child (a dumb one).
Child? He’s a Rookie.
And then he’s a fricking CHAMPION
>Strict partner digimon systems where your digi is its own character and interacts with you +
This is what I've always wanted the only game to do it was a fricking SMT for kids game
This game was better than it had any right to be.

how is this different than geodude
Geodude was pure sovl though
I just don't like how his proportions are wildly different every time I see him. I love the more chibi-fied, rounder, short Bearmon (picrel). That one's in the DW3 concept art, coverart, as well as the DW3 opening. But then you have the tall chunky Bearmon from Frontier which has persisted ever since. I hate the tall chunky Bearmon.
Tangently related but Elecmon has the same issue. I loved his look in DW1 but jesus christ who put him on roids?
Why is Elecmon so WIDE
CS mostly seems to use toei anime designs rather the bandai ones. It's why Gabumon in CS is the chubby motherfricker from Adventure instead of the big teeth gremlin from DW1 and other pre-anime media.
Cool sprite

Survive, Decode, Cyber Sleuth, World 1.
Done. Saved you 320 hours of your life.
>Survive
I had high hopes but the gampeplay is such an after thought and even the VN elements with point and click shit are a chore
Digimon World is unironically great for what it is, and there's not a single other game that tried to replicate what it does (exploration based monster raising game that does not have turn based combat), which makes it more infuriating that the devs abandoned the game concept for generic turn based RPG for the sequels because that's what sells at the time.
The card games. Both IRL and PS1. If you count flawed good things Digimon World 1.
>Survive, Decode, Cyber Sleuth
He said not good by digimon standards.
Survive and Sleuth are 7.2/10 games. Decode is an 8.5/10. They're fine.
You're only rating them that because you're a digimon fan. You need to look at this from an outsider's POV.
Yes. They aren't the same card game but they have some similarities. Like how all digimon are sorted into colors and any digimon in one color can evolve into any digimon of the same color and next level if you pay a cost.
Nice, I'm going to check this out when I can thanks bros. Might try World 1 too just to see what a more standard Digimon game is like.
>standard Digimon game

Don't really think it was one thing in particular.
>really enjoy cyber sleuth
>realise it’s essentially a sequel to world 3 and 2
I fricking love this game, bros. Not even being ironic.
ELABORAAAAAAAATE
ELABOOOOOOOOOORRAAAAATE
I got filtered by the catgirl boss at the very end of the game.
>I got filtered by the catgirl boss at the very end of the game.
That's the halfway point anon
>random encounters
I spent so much time in mobius desert playing the game for the first time i got all my mons to mega.
What the frick was it with PS1 rpgs and deserts where you don’t know the way
We need a defamatory term for posters like like syber sleuth.
I propose: Cyber Shits
(You did it Anon, they’re gonna live this. Now sit back and watch the Yous roll in)
esl or stroke
The old couple that said there was a way to become a Digimon got me super excited as a kid.
I really wanted to play the rest of the game as one.
Digimon games are good, and I'm tired of pretending they're not!!!!
Come on Anon.
Did I frick myself by picking the guilmon kumamon patamon team
why does everything kill them in two hits
Patamon is hard mode
The other 2 are strong once they get going
ah frick
oh well I'm locked in, am I meant to grind on tapirmon?
Buy armor with the 300 bits you find in the sewer
Guilmon and Patamon hav no defense/survivability. Kumamon has the best survivability but he levels so incredibly slowly that he always falls behind the games difficulty curve.
>Did I frick myself by picking the guilmon kumamon patamon team
Yes, the powerful or balanced teams are the way to go.
You can get all the Digimon that any of the packs are missing, so either of them is fine. There's side quests to get their DNA by beating their Ultimate forms (you better use a guide for them though, because some of them are extremely easy to miss and involve many convoluted steps like Veemon iirc.)
That card battle game was amazing.
>plasters blue loading screen cards all over
Hope you remember the way to the nearest save station 🙂
I don't even get why they existed. Aren't the maps just a single pre-rendered image with a bunch of sprites on top?
Ps1 had 1mb of vram. The background image is probably 3mg or something.
SEXOmon
>beat the 2003 version
>no idea how to activate the tournament
I can only run around the main city and seemingly endless underground mazes. What am i doing wrong? I want to fight in the tournament.
To access the tournament you need to defeat all the sector leaders again or something along those lines, so maybe try going to Seiryuu, Suzaku, etc.
You can't.
You are locked to main city and central park mazes.
Did you craft the 5 legendary items before defeating Galactimon?
Frick no?
Then that's that.
You had to get those to unlock the postgame, and to unlock them you had to raise every single basic Digimon to Lv45.
need to forge the 5 legendary weapons in the normal game to access the tournament iirc.
For that you need to level up kumamon, kotemon, monmon, renamon or patamon, guilmon or agumon at level 45 and go through the world finding the secret digimon blacksmith.
How was I meant to figure this out
I never beat it, but I vaguely remember hearing something about a blacksmith...
No way to do
anon there's a reason these games never took off
Most downloaded rom on coolroms 🙂
liar that's tekken 3
>Digimon is 5th
>It beats FFVII
??
Sticking with Patamon, Guilmon, and Kumamon. My Patamon got four circle things in a row doing yoga now boom bubble deals 830 damage to Kunemon. What the frick.
Guilmon is the only good thing in your party though.
>Patamon got four circle things in a row doing yoga
Patamon doing yoga...
Don't care about the backtracking, I'm in love with the entire OST of the game, not a single bad one.
>Renamon
plap*plap*plap*plap*
>dude, lets put an endgame boss in an easily accessible low level area, lmao
Felt pretty good coming back and curbstomping him, though.
They're called From Software because they steal ideas FROM other games.
I was that dumb kid that used his rookie or champion level digimon to fight a mega level digimon. It still felt good to beat him.
When I was a tiny child with no concept of "this is an optional boss you can come back to later", I grinded my ass off till all 3 of my digimon got their signature Ultimate forms before leaving east sector, and stomped him and the other bosses.
Then i mostly cruised through most of the game stopping to grind maybe 1 more time
Honestly, just use 10 points in defense training and you beat this guy easily.
screw it, time to replay the trilogy
However, for World 1 I'd try https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/8069/
Can anyone vouch for it?
It just released, I don't think anyone's really had the time to go through it and digest the changes.
World 1 details were obscure as heck anyway.
>released on 18 November 2023
oh wow I did not even notice, holy shit
I'm even more baffled now that not only someone seemingly put all that effort in it, but after almost 25 years too
Doesn't look bad. Wish I could combine this with the randomizer.
Considering World does actually have some fairly bad bugs in the game, playing through this can't hurt any more than the original.
How do I go about adding this to the game
Click readme next to download
You need this https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/356/
and here's a redump.org of the game

That's a lot of dolphmons
Should I really trust a random link
you can check the hash yourself on redump 🙂
>hashes can't be poofed
your brain on 4mutts
just get the game from vimm
Okay so I think I did it but I have absolutely no clue if it worked or not.
Im in a run right now with that patch, it's good so far but I'm at almost at the beggining of the game with a garurumon anyways so I can't say that much about changes.
Nice.
For me it was the inn's.
I know there is a digimon mmo out there but it's a soul destroying korean p2w trash instead of comfykino like this game.
I guess it's too late for that now?
Judging by how awful Next Order looked in comparison, yes, it's too late now.
2d sprites on pre rendered 3d background will always look good. I wonder what programs they used to model and light it.
Why couldn't indie shit base their sprite work off of games like this? Everything about DW3 makes me wish I could go on an adventure just like it.
Indies are budget games. You bred cash to burn for sprite art that good.
The backgrounds from the early games are so good it's almost ridiculous. Even the human areas from World 2 look good.
The cinematics are really well done too. I sometimes wonder how much money Digimon had to burn in the 90s.
This one was pretty good as well.
That one indie game inspired by DW3 someone posted in the last thread literally has Tyrano Valley as an area lmao
Curious what game
Anode Heart
Thanks, I'll look into stealing ideas from this alongside DW3
Ridiculously esoteric, writing shit down as I play
Very kino dw1
Pic related always reminded me of Tyrano Valley
Reminds me of the ancient dino region in dw1, with the Brachiomons
I actually really like the gameplay of the DS games, but the environments SUCK.
These are my favorite kind of areas. I love boneyards with huge dinosaur skulls.
>actually really like the gameplay of the DS games
how? it's blander than fricking dragon quest
>take mons to farm, train
>take them out of the farm, btw you have to re-equip them every time :^)
>go to dungeon. encounters every 3 steps, and that fricking annoying scan animation that lasts longer than a battle
>how the frick does the elemental roulette work? buffs and items do nothing than provide shit like +30 to attack (is that a lot even?). do they even stack?
>boost your speed, nothing changes in the turn order
>what is the point of spreading out your digimon if you lose the party boosts?
>poison is worthless unless you're slow as frick and the opponent takes 5 turns before you
>status effects are worthless since bosses are immune to them (paralysis, sleep)
I mean maybe I overdid the farm thing, but I never got where the difficulty was.
Did you know 3 actually has a subtitle?
Boy I sure do love running around blind in a screen full of blue blocks that never go away because the disk got fricked up by the tiniest of scratches.
That's great you have something you love.
Any news what might come next? New vidya possibility?
Anons my experience with Digimon is basically 01-Frontiers. Which game do you recommend. Apparently most Digimon games are bad?
The only game worth playing is the first Digimon World. It's was made before the anime so it works on completely different rules, I'd painful at times, and great.
To be honest, I'd probably just watch Tamers subbed.
I know that JRPGs from that gen used to be very grindy on average, but DW3 is a whole other level really
Given there's no such thing as trying to go for a balanced team in that game, you just hyperfocus on a single mon and give it the counter badge
You don't have anything else to do, might as well grind World 3.
The worst thing about this game wasn't just backtracking but saving the game taking like 3 minutes.
Gryzmon's existence makes me think that they were originally gonna give Bearmon a "It just gets bigger" evolution line, then gave up halfway through realizing that It would be unfair to Kotemon and Koemon
10/10 game design
For me it was the repeating desert. Even if i know how to get through it today there is literally no logic behind it.
Eh i like it. Pretty sure DW3 isn't the only game with hidden path like that.
If you got lost in a real forest this is what it would be like.
>tfw still remember the pattern 20 years later
Ahh yes, they don't make em' like they used to...
just started playing 2003
holy moly what a useless flying sack of shit
He's healing spells are life savers later on.
evolve to digitamamon, train spirit and spam soul snatcher all the way.
>spirit
that only affects magic damage and defense. magic accuracy and evasion, and status effect accuracy and resistance (including KO and weapon effects) is dictated by wisdom
magic got so shafted in DW3
>need to raise SPR for damage, WIS for accuracy, SPD to get turns
>physical attackers only need attack and spd to do damage
>all magic has a damage cap
>only upside is you get magic defense and status resistance
He is good with spells. But no one likes spells.
I actually felt like offensive spells were a trap on Patamon.. Because then both attacking and supporting both use up your mp resource. I got a lot more mileage out of Patamon by focusing on attack/speed, so attacking doesn't waste mp, and then you'll be able to support a lot more.
Way less annoying for all the backtracking, you'll constantly have mp to heal all party members after each battle, and I never had to buy consumables.
>make a new game
>Give myself a party of Agumon, Guilmon, and Veemon
>Give myself their best equipment
>they get their shit pushed in
I thought equipment mattered but I guess not.
Are these any good?
Not as good as World, and the encounter rate got jacked up 10x
No the fighting feels pointless and the dungeons are confusing mazes.
Yes
They are good but beast XP drags the experience down.
w-what did he mean by this bros??

>Instead of saving the game I'd just savestate and continue later
>The game has some memory issue after you've played it for like 20(?) hours in a row
>I was in the abandoned factory
>Had to find my way out to the oasis save spot while blind to not lose effectively all my progress.
>memory issue after you've played it for like 20(?) hours in a row
elaborate
If you don't actually restart the game by resetting the emulator/playstation or whatever and just play with savestates the entire time at some point the "loading blocks" for the game just stop going away and you have to navigate blind, the game is still functional and you can get into battle and menus and all that but there's no way to know where you are in the maps.
Also I doublechecked and it actually happens at about 38 non-stop/savestated ingame hours even if you're using emulator speed-up (So this means it happens faster if you use it)
>Also played this on Emulator back in 2018
>Same memory issue with save states completely wiped my progress
>Last saved many, many hours before
And that's how my last playthrough of DW3 ended
for me it was getting my 200h+ memory card file randomly corrupted and unable to load
I'll just use a cheat save file when I actually want to do it I'm not grinding all that again
>>Had to find my way out to the oasis save spot while blind
holy shit that happened to me too. I thought it was my computer was having a stroke or something.
anyway, this isn't the only PS1 game with issues if you run it for too long, so do try to save often.
>elaborate
the game fails to load map tiles and you eventually have to navigate everything blind. if it gets bad enough, even screens from talking to NPCs will fail.
>start World1 and I have no idea

>battles are only good for money early on
>happiness above 80 at all times

>care mistakes are not feeding, not sleeping, shitting
>the slots are rigged to only work sometimes. still more efficient than plain training if you're good at them
>etc.
>I had high hopes
sorry, coronamon struck and the game was scrapped and remade mid-development with a massively reduced scope after around 2 years of delays
>Digimon World game that you could pay for it if you wanted to get anybody
It's not a World game, but I think you mean DMO
>you can unlock autopilots on your first day. use them
What are autopilots
Items that voip you back to the city. They're like chimera wings from Dragon Quest.
How do I get those?
You mean like Escape Rope from Pokémon Blue.
Escape ropes take you to the entrance of a dungeon. This is more akin to casting Evac followed by Zoom.
>How
you buy them, duh.
nisedrimogemon and tentomon drop them, but you'll 100% have unlocked the store long before you get to meet either.
I don't think I have them unlocked yet
well then get to it. it's as easy as exploring a new area.
hell, since you're so early into the game you can probably enter amida forest and play amidakuji(ghost leg lottery) to nab a couple for free (just don't win until you're ready because the minigame will stop working)
So far I found the hp mp shop with betamon, got kunemon, and palmon
I just get shot when entering that forest
>get shot
you're doing it wrong then. you only get shot if you don't turn every corner.
I figured it out a bit after. Also my dude evolved into centarumon after I fed it a mushroom I found.
my condolences
Is that one bad?
it means your mon has had a bit too much to think
>i like recolours
You, into the oven.
Can't keep us all in there, grandpa.
Too much to think?
Yes, poindexter. You turned the poor thing into a scrawny nerd. Try to get a clue.
What does the brain stat even do, also I think this thing looks cool.
>brains stat
>unlock battle commands every 100 points until 500
>reduce MP consumption (5% at 700, with an extra 5% every 100 points (at 999 too))
>every 50 points, you can learn a new tech. if you save before training, you can retry until you get it
>exploring around
>haven't saved for hours
>supplies are on the low side
>talk to a digimon
>"HEY butthole LETS FIGHT"
what is this guy's problem
Digimon world dusk is the best digimon game and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
This game had a lot of potential but it does get bogged down by encounter rates and constant back tracking but the world is really cool looking and fun to explore despite that
Okay so I start World1 and I have no idea what I'm doing.
Just talk to everyone and keep your digimon healthy. Don't train to much also.
part of the fun is trying to figure out how shit works
that said if you value your time you're better off getting some hints from a guide, at least with regard to the digivolution system
i'd recommend not to spoil yourself on the exploration part of the game though
>some regular random encounter enemies have instakill moves
Why would you do this?
I love this game so much.
>you're now hearing the sound of kicking trees
Banchostingmon is cool as hell. I wish he was in more games
i love the banchos
I remember some like free Digimon World game that you could pay for if you wanted to anybody know what that was called?
>that you could pay for if you wanted to
Digital Tamers Reborn maybe?

I will now buy your game.
I have seen that webm. It is a sifu mod that is not posted anywhere. This clip actually inspired me to make my project. 🙂
Thanks for the feedback!
Maybe some day
>That clip actually inspired me to make my project
What do you know, maybe it's a small world after all.
Haha, yeah, it is. Do you have a relation to that sifu mod by chance?
>Remember DW3

Wasn't there a frick huge difficulty spike when going to the other server?
I remember crushing every encounter before travelling there and suddenly all the random digimon were one shooting my party.
There was a non winnable boss fight that they threw at you in the swampy zone and that lost me 5 hours once. Other than that unless you were doing a low level run/did no grinding you prolly did okay. I did a lot of grinding so that might be why i dont remember it being rough
Modern gamers. So entitled.
>copy-pasted labyrinth of rooms that look exactly the same
>random encounters up the ass, especially in 2 tunnels
>your only guide are digimon sprinkled occasionally sprinkled through rooms
>there's no map, and the game never tells you where each hole leads
>digmon moves slower than a granny in a wheelchair
You seriously can't defend circuit board
>Wasn't there a frick huge difficulty spike when going to the other server?
Dna digivolution WIN
>DNA
Whenever I used it, it dealt next to no damage. Then one day I come across a FAQ and it turns out that its power depends on the evos used, not the end result.
It just pisses me off that Digimon can frick up something so simple as determining the power of an ability.
Apparently World 3 was made by like 14 Japanese dudes. No wonder it is what it is.
That's how peak soul gets created
Even making the game sounds fun
Probably not considering the time frame and what they did to stretch the game out with the mirror servers.
so there's no cheat for giving EXP for all your mons, right
or one that triples EXP gains to compensate
Not that I've found.
I think there are codes to jump to X amount of unlocks however, but all levelling needs to be manual.
Go here for grinding evos
>there's no cheat for giving EXP for all your mons, right
you don't need one. you can powerlevel the frick out of the game with 1 mon:
>get your ass to central park and kill a few kunemon
>move on to plug cape at around lv 3~4 and kill betamon and vegiemon
>get your El Dorado ID ASAP and go to Asuka's heavy armory, buy AM server-tier equipment
>after 6~7 cross the bridge and go up the ramp to fight triceramon
>by 9 cross the bridge back and go fight coelamon on the sandy area
>after lv 12, get the fishing rod and fight divermon until you get to ~lv 20
>make it to jungle shrine and kill those numemon bastards until you hit ultimate
>finish things off by fishing for pink ebidramon once you cross to AM
>bonus: get to AM kulon mines and fish for black anomalocarimon. hopefully you'll get one of those training chip V (1/512 drop rate iirc, or was it 1/256)
>for the rest, just buy strong equips from the AS heavy armory, or the AM mirage tower and watch their levels shoot up faster than cum up angewomon's ass
>bawww baww muh backtracking
disable random encounters and it'll be a non-issue. no one likes refighting weak enemies over and over. if you feel bad about cheating you can just trigger one manually every screen with R1+down
the real kick in the balls are the missable auctions, which the game never announces
>Probably not considering the time frame
this. the american release was rushed to hell and back.
considering the troubled production pipelines the franchise is known for, it's a miracle digimon has survived this long.
>>get your El Dorado ID ASAP and go to Asuka's heavy armory, buy AM server-tier equipment
the frick is that again
I never understood how to get the El Dorado ID, but I think it has something to do with the equipment your digimon are wearing. Like they have to be "cool" enough to get in or something.
>I never understood how to get the El Dorado ID
charisma. it's the same stat that dictates whether people will battle you or play card battles. although it kinda sucks is once it goes up you can't lower it.
Ah, so I was close with the "cool" thing
Forgot there was a charisma stat.
>disable random
Anon, I played this game decades ago and that quest was one of my strongest memories of the game. Not everyone played it on the emulator.
If you need to cheat to make the game fun that means the game is shit.
>disabling random encounters is cheating
what's next, are you gonna argue that repels are cheating?
captcha KYYS8
One is an item in the game the other is a game genie code.
they have the same effect you little b***h: disable encounters so you can backtrack in peace
And one was included in the game, while the other wasn't. Disabling random encounter is literally cheating by definition because it wasn't intended.
I'm not going to say you shouldn't do it, though.
Jesus you dumb zoomies are intolerable. You should be rounded up and shot. I bet you think bugfix patches are cheating too because they make the game 'easier' by fixing glitches "already in the game."
>disables encounters
you can trigger them every step if you wish you stupid dumbfricks.
And if you think Diablo's no encounter ability in FFVIII is not cheating because 'it's in the game' you're dumber than a mentally moronic amoeba.
I don't think you under what people are calling you stupid for on purpose.
I used the word "intended," intentionally. Bugs are not intended.
But you're moronic for getting mad at me, anyway.
>Bugs are not intended.
that's relative. I'll keep IPS patching my games to fix them. meanwhile you can continue to seethe about "cheating" in single-player games.
Now I'm convinced you're being wrong on purpose to farm (you)s.
You didn’t beat Digimon World 3.
You didn't play Digimon World 3.
CHEATER
CHEATING
yeah it's called go to the starter forest, tape the analog stick into a top-right or top-left position (bottom causes other options to get selected in the battle menu), find something heavy but small enough to hold down the X button and only the X button, then go sleep, wake up, go to school and come back many hours later to many levels. next day, switch mons.
rinse and repeat for a week or so, switching up the forest with another zone once your mon can one-shot monsin there
that's what i did 2 decades ago and i just kicked the entire game's teeth in without a problem okay one problem: the rape bridge
You'll find that 3's like a prototype of Dusk in some ways. Look up a guide that explains what stats do, and remember never to trust a Guilmon.
But Guilmon is my favourite digimon alongside Terriermon and Megidramon.
Just kidding, it's really only one particular Guilmon that screws you over. The partner Guilmon you get at the beginning of the game is solid. Mine unlocked Metal Mamemon really early for me and carried me through the first half of the game.
To this day, I'm still seething about that quest. Like what where the devs thinking?!
But do you love Dusk now
It has a place in my heart that I know I should never prod and check-up on.

>DIGIMON ARE THE CHAMPIONS
What if I like the dub more, but prefer sub names
>kid me gets to this point after running around like a fricking headless chicken searching for the fake Baronmon
>fricker has the gall to ask me for materials even after getting his precious mask back
>remember having a bomb at some point, don't remember where i got it from
>don't remember where i got it from because making progress in this game as a kid takes for fricking ever
>waste precious afternoons just killing enemies at random until i find it
>coudn't
>start a new save thinking it was a one-time item from a chest
>one drops off the first triceramon i defeat in the dino valley in the new save, some good 20-30 or so hours in
And from that point on, I never again used a combat items in any RPG.
Renamons a girl. You put a penis on a girl and you’re laughing. You’re laughing.
always a pleasure to share these threads with my digibros, have a good one
Is .hack basically Digimon?
not in the slightest
No, but I am autistic for both so you might be onto something.
Ganker captcha needs to be first 5 minutes of World. If you get a Numemon, you’re banned for life, reset router doesn’t work.
if i get a tyrannomon do i get banned if i don't feed it enough (you)s?
Yes. Weight is equal to (You)s. if you get Vademon you get CIA sent after you.
>Ganker captcha needs to be first 5 minutes of World
how to flood your favorite franchise with secondaries: the game
>first game in the series
>secondaries
playing a game because your favorite eceleb is shilling it is peak secondary/poser behavior. only mindless lemmings do something because some homosexual with a lot of followers endorses it.
>Only to find out it doesn't matter, you still can't enter the city there.
worst of all, if you do manage to beat them, you get garbled text as congratulations and the game softlocks.
>favorite eceleb is shilling it
Ah yes, the Asmongold and Markiplier Digimon World playthroughs.
>capcha is an eceleb
>playing a game because your favorite eceleb is shilling it is peak secondary/poser behavior.
Yes
>any points accumulated beyond the cap of 99 are lost
>the ideal way to spend them is on super training at the legendary gym (note: you can't ace the same super training twice in a row)
>you can beat the game with a lv 40~45 party just fine
>if you plan to forge all the legendary weapons for a quest, you'll have to get every single partnermon in the game to lv 45 anyway
>the only way to obtain TP is from chips dropped by certain enemies (e.g. pink ebidramon has TP chip 2, orange snimon has TP chip 3, black scorpiomon has TP chip 5). they have abysmal drop rates though (1/256 was it?) and they can't be stolen
>alternatively, you can just steal stat chips from enemies which have them (e.g.
Your partners' Adult, Perfect, and Ultimate stages all have their own evolutionary trees of forms they'll unlock.
>do you have to figure out digivolution the same way you do in 1?
only if you want something specific. each digimon has a main line you will unlock simply with leveling up. leveling up the evolutions you get unlock more evos too. stats are only relevant to a few evos each mon has.
>do you have to figure out digivolution the same way you do in 1?
not really. evos are unlocked in the following ways
>stats (e.g. resistance to a certain element, defense, spirit)
>leveling up certain evos (DV EXP needed per level varies from 10 to 50 depending on evo and often increases it reaches a lv threshold)
Every mon can unlock every evo in the game. Some evos are easier to unlock on certain mons.
If you plan to grind weak evos (e.g. Stingmon and ExVeemon), I personally recommend either
>unlocking a very strong evo first and loading techs from it (loaded techs use the stats of the evo they were taken from for damage calculation, including the evolution damage bonus)
>using a weapon or spell that induces confusion or instant death (and reasonably high wisdom to increase the success rate)
Patamon is trash, just swap him out for something else
You will kelvin to see the day where a Digimon World 3 thread reaches 500 replies. Mods are shaking rn.
Comfy thread. Comfy fanbase.
