First of all you put the dollar sign before the amount.
Secondly if it's a Wii with full Gamecube backwards compatibility, ergo the gamepad ports, memory card ports etc, you absolutely should. Also mod the shit out of it.
yes but they don't have the controller ports
the wiring is there but you have to solder everything yourself
basically any unit with a flipped wii logo doesn't have the ports
homebrewed wiis are absolute dog shit jank I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and anyone who disagrees has never attempted to use one.
> 480p max output > GC controllers never work properly > UI is a fricking nightmare > constantly switching between GameCube controller and Wii controller since Wii UI doesn't support GC controllers
Not OP Herr, but i was thinking of doing a similar thing. Buying a used Wii and homebrewing it so that I can play all the wagglan games I never played.
it's not, it's a minor annoyance at best. the 480p output thing is real though, if you're looking to play wii games specifically it's better to do it on pc. potatoes can run dolphin.
wiis are basically a gc+ that runs retro games at their original res.
How do I play Wii games on PC with wagglan controls though?

>480p
Wiis are best played on a crt, like all standard def consoles. >GC controllers never work properly
Get a working controller? >constantly switching between GameCube controller and Wii controller since Wii UI doesn't support GC controllers
Autoboot into usbloader.
>Wiis are best played on a crt, like all standard def consoles.
cope >Get a working controller?
Roms don't work with GC controllers often, this is a commonly reported issue >Autoboot into usbloader
still gotta switch between controllers on the regular
>Roms don't work with GC controllers often, this is a commonly reported issue
GC isos aren't detecting controllers? That's never happened to me.
If you mean wii games, yeah that's just how its always been. Sounds like your issues are about the wii itself, not specifically a hacked one.
Is that what an original wii has? I have an early in launch wii sitting around. It has wii sports and the bad not really pokemon coliseum game and nothing else.
there's really no point except for a pristine casing
wiis are fairly simple on the inside, mostly a board, disc drive and lots of metal/plastic bits. unless it's a specific revision, mainly the later ones that draw less power and thus don't heat as much, you're better off with an used one.
you can polish the case with car shine and retrobright it, or replace it altogether with a chinese one. they're crappy but get the job done.
also some people swear the later revisions have a better video encoder.
>tell me why I shouldn't buy a new wii for 200$
cause you can easily find a used(but 100% complete with all parts, cables, etc) for $50-60, or a new one for $100
it's definitely worth it to get a wii, but not for $200, keep looking until you find a better deal
because dolphin is a valid replacement for wii
many software emulators aren't, you need authentic systems for Dreamcast and ps2, you can use fpga for nearly everything before then, and ps360 emulation will be better but compatibility is a bit dodgy
for gc/wii, emulation is the better way to go
My launch Wii still works great and use is every so often but was thinking of getting an oled tv. Whats the best way to play Wii and older consoles on tvs with only HDMI ports? There are a lot of converters out there... is there a good one that can handle component/composite and Svideo?
If you want to use real hardware best is component cables with a scaler or component-to-hdmi adapter. Cheap wii2hdmi adapters are either decent or shit
The wii has one of the best emulators out there, just get a wii mote or 2 and a sensors var and you can play every wii game for free in 4k and often with 60fps patches for free with authentic wii remote support
First of all you put the dollar sign before the amount.

arent all wiis gamecube compatible with nintendont? even the Vwii on the Wii U could play gamecube games.
yes but they don't have the controller ports

Not in the same way.
A proper backwards compatible Wii can use GC discs, Controllers and Memory cards.
>that disk
also I wish I got one of those special jp only white gc controllers back when they were cheap
homebrewed wiis are absolute dog shit jank I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and anyone who disagrees has never attempted to use one.

if you bought into this meme you deserve ligma

Didn't know it was THAT bad
yeah don't do it. half the wiis on the used market are anons like yourself tryna offset their regret onto the next bozo, Wii homebrew is truly awful.
How do I play Wii games on PC with wagglan controls though?
there are a few ways to pair it but basically a bluetooth connection and one of those bars. china makes usb ones.
and the drivers.

this, the wii is a great console for homebrew and modding plus $200 dollars isnt really that much for a new nintendo console in the box.
Seems like an expensive venture just to get an authentic experience as you'll be paying big sums for the games

It's very easy actually.
You have to
>download a piece of software called Dolphin
>connect your PC with an HDMI cable to your TV if you haven't already
Enjoy!
they're all fine

thanks broski
Because you can buy a wii with everything for $10?
You can bu quite a lot of ravioli for $200.

If having no games, is your fetish a PS5 or xbsx has you covered.
The goodwill website is filled with wii bundles for a fourth of that.
