Terraria 2 will be the best game ever if the first one is any indication. Sometimes it's compared favorably to Breath of the Wild.

I thought they canceled terarria 2
That was otherworld, not Terraria 2.
This image is supposedly how a Terraria 2 world would look like.
God I fricking hope not, that looks more like some maplestory-tier zone shifting
>get into a corner of 4 biomes
>move in circle
>the game fricking explodes trying to load the 4 biomes
why is there a giant bee in the sky that is larger than a meteor (or roughly the same size taking scale into context)
Is this like an actual planned thing?
Also, I can't believe I never even thought of a volcanic biome
They've already got lava in the godamn game
Red did that image, so is official, but I think he is just trying to conceptualize a map with a lot of biomes and how they would connect with each other, I don't think the final game will be like that, if it is randomly generated like Terraria then I think it will miss some biomes or have them on a larger/smaller scale and in different arrangement and not as giant fricking rectangles but something more organic.
isn't the underworld hell place a volcano biome already?
It's probably just some dumb shitpost from one of the devs.
I'm more curious at what liquids T2 would have. Mud and poison could work as liquids.
why would there be a ballsack biome in the bottom left?
It would genuinely be much better if the main overworld stayed loosely the same but certain structures generated that you could enter via doorway and they took you to a separate "layer" for that feature alone. Bee dungeon should be a doorway in jungle. Volcano land should generate on surface lava. Etcetera.
>but that goes against Terraria's design philosophy!
Having that many grid-based biomes is a recipie for the game being a literal metroidvania instead of a sandbox with metroidvania-like aspects. You just CANNOT shoehorn all of that shit into one world without either:
>making it WAY wider
>making it WAY deeper
>adding layers
Loading screens.
you are overlooking shrinking those boxes down and overlapping them considerably. that giant tree could be right on top of a volcano for instance.
It needs to be in actual 3D, not side scroller, fully 3D, otherwise is will be just an graphical overhaul. Game like this would be an instant hit, look at Valheim, it copied just a fraction of Terraria's gameplay and become an instant best seller. It sold so well devs don't even bother to finish the game,
And the game is dead now, meanwhile Terraria,
Because Valheim at it's current state lacks content, you have no builds, no classes, no special weapons, exploration is boring and unrewarding, no enemy variety, no special events, just 1 static npc etc... and Valheim is so fricking GRINDY. Devs force you to walk with your ores, ores you can't take much with you because of weight system, to stretch the gameplay time. Combat is slow due to shitty stamina system, when you make one attack and wait 5 seconds for stamina bar to fill.
Terraria is just better, formula is here, just make it 3D and bam! You won, instant GOTY.
>you have no builds
wrong there are many builds
>no classes
this is redundant, the "classes" are builds much like in terraria
>no special weapons
all late game weapons are "special" (have special effects), again, much like in fricking terraria
>exploration is boring
of all games you could say this you choose valheim? the exploration in valheim is 1000% rewarding, even more so than terraria
>no enemy variety
every single enemy in valheim is unique and incomparable to others
>no special events
this is the final proof you didn't play the game, it has DOZENS of special events/invasions moron
>wrong there are many builds
gee golly troll leather that makes your sneak slightly better
shut up moron you have about as much choice in builds as V Rising, another shitty fricking resource grind game
>stab
>stab but it does lightning damage (same animation)
also
>MUH EXPLORATION
terrain gen is literally fricking identical across the same biome there is nothing remotely interesting it generates but that's a fault also part of Terraria but something other 3d autism games like vintage story does way better.
moron.
>moron
Mad that someone who actually played Valheim called out your bullshit non-replies?
>n-nuh uh it does
Great, show me 3 different caster sets, show me 3 different melee sets that provide unique bonuses.
You can't even show me unique weapons because they're all the same fricking "does damage, but also does an element damage!"
Go ahead, post the himminafl, the only fricking melee weapon that can trigger something more than an extra tick of elemental damage. You can't even pretend the Stagbreaker is unique because that's just a normal 2h club attack.
Didn't read
Not surprised illiteracy makes a simple game like Valheim seem complex to you.
Seethe more
I don't have to seethe, i'm not the one playing a bad unfinished game that took the devs 2 years to push out 1% extra content
I live rent free in your head my friend.
>actively posting, shilling bad games with non-answer replies
>R-RENT FREE, IM DOING NOTHING
Did Valheim cause this level of brain damage or does it just attract people like you?
yet another 4cucks pass user destroyed
and round and round and round she goes
The charm of Terraria is being 2d. What crack are you smokin? If someone could pull it off in 3d they would have already.
If they somehow manage to pull of the transition like Risk of Rain 2 did it might be seriously work. But I highly doubt anybody can do what RoR2 did, especially on a game like Terraria
Anyone can do what ROR2 did, just nerf any emergent gameplay the community finds, allow strictly only the builds the devs like, and ignore all opinions and feedback and infact, lash out at anyone criticizing you like an angry emotional child.
You're thinking of TBoI
Not if current Re-Logic makes it. They already made the perfect game with 1.3.5.3 and they fricked up
They did this with the 1.4 updates
this is true
unless its in 3d or has some massive overhaul like different dimensions and planets terraria 2 cant compete with modded terraria
So this thing was the world's protector? He's kinda ugly
>Sometimes it's compared favorably to Breath of the Wild
If my playtime is anything to go by terraria is 10x the game botw is. Plus terraria has actual content.
it's also really comfy, BotW is a bit too laid back, but Terraria gives off this vibe of the entire world being yours to do what you want. IMHO being able to reshape the world >>>>>>>>>>>>> being able to climb up and glide off the world
Not to mention you can still do the latter in Terraria
>Sometimes it's compared favorably to Breath of the Wild.
You need walloping
I've read it on Ganker even, that Terraria nails things BotW failed at, and I approve of that sentiment entirely. Terraria is a game that keeps on giving, BotW is korok seeds.
No you idiot
You need a whack around the earholes for perpetuating the idea that BotW and TotK are perfect games when they're just more ubishit
that's the opposite of what I said, moron
Don't be moronic on purpose, you know exactly the implication your stupid sentence made
>it's even compared well to botw, which is significant because botw is the closest we've got to a perfect game that everyone loves so far
muh ubisoft
That's a fair point. but I think he was arguing from the perspective of the fans who herald the game as perfect, as if to try and meet them half-way. I definitely see where he's coming from at least.
>the way Terraria just lets you start off and play, without spoonfeeding you any information as to how to play, unless you went out of your way to dig up the tutorial in the menu, which is easy to miss
>the way NPCs are almost entirely optional to the game, and you're not babysitting them
>the feeling when you're just allowed to hold a grudge against a cosmic entity of pure evil, instead of needing silly prophecies and lore to give you motivation
It's a nice change of pace from the norm.
Layers are definitely a double edged sword though.
Pros: Can do shit like housing interiors and have an exterior for the world, gigantic dungeons.
Cons: World becomes a featureless dirt blob with a door, room planning around the landscape is no longer a factor.
That's a good point. such an idea would need to be heavily monitored so that the world has enough life to keep people interested, without robbing content from the other layers.
>that Terraria nails things BotW failed at
Yeah and Mario Kart nails things Mario platformers failed at, that doesn't mean it has any fricking meaning
diddy kong is the best one
Says the homie that never played Terraria between 1.0 and 1.1
started with 1.1, it feels like a different game
terraria 1.0...
when rocket boots cost mana and you could fly forever with mana potions...
sovl...
I started playing when skeletron was the final boss, but I don't know which version was that.
1.0.1
Imagine actually paying to use Ganker
Very cringe
All i want is terraria gameplay with starbound multi planet generation (and sex mods)
fricking chuckle nuts sabotaging the modding scene so no one can unfrick his shit game
ive played terraria on and off since launch with friends and I still dont know how to play it
Do a solo run, on one of the higher difficulties, without imposing any challenge rules on yourself like a specific class- just don't cheese any bosses (ie Dynamite + vantage on destroyer). It's actually a much better solo-game than you might assume.
