Territorial.io very much feels like a real time adaption of Diplomacy. I just wish there were a mode with a map preset countries to start from. Been playing it a lot more than should. My favorite thing is after getting knocked out, to start island hopping all the small ignored 1 or 2 pixel archipelagos and try to build my rank back to the leader boards. Very hard but fun that.

It is all about conservation of capital. If you overreach you will be attacked. First one to make a move often wastes troops with little gain, those gang up get good investment. Save, Be strong, and wait for opportunity instead of push first.
afaik you should start very slowly, I completely skip the move in the first iteration. Conquering anything at the beginning makes you lose the compound interest game. Later on, having a big land becomes dominant factor for your growth due to low interest. I still dont know how to act when you are sort of stuck. Like, there are scenerios where you have relatively high numbers but small land, you are landlocked etc etc. Somebody with some more knowledge could expand on it please
