Storywise and gameplay-wise yes and it's not even close. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't load up RDR2 and play it as a hunting simulator, hunting in that game is pure fun and comfy.
Except it wasn't good. Story missions scripted to punish you for thinking for yourself / stepping off the roller coaster
Massive money penalties for dying discouraging crime and free roam. Making money back includes robbing people for 70 cents each or going through a looting animation so slow your eyes bleed.
I really don't know what you're talking about with your second part, I was able to max upgrade all my guns without worrying about money by the time I left the first camp. I really didn't mind dying being pretty harsh since survival is a pretty big part of the game and honestly escaping encounters was usually really easy.
Robbing townsfolk and travellers isn't worth it for the money alone but you get valuables that you can sell to the fence for 5, 10, or 15 dollars at best each time. Either way the best way to make money is robbing trains, every passenger gives you at least 10$ plus a valuable, a successful train robbery can get you 200$ easily.
>I also dread ever having to replay it >having to
do you think someone is going to hold you hostage until you can 100% RDR2 from start to finish in the future?
I do agree that it's an amazing game but not one I would ever want to try to replay the whole story.
Absolutely this, I'll never in my life commit myself to another 100% run of this game, frick the gambler challenges in particular. It was worth doing once, though.

The domino and blackjack challenge is a piss-take, but the poker one can be done easily; replay the boat heist and then replay the mission where you save the priest
You're scripted to win both times on the boat and you're scripted to win the poker game at the station.
It's been 4 years and this game still blows my fricking mind. After playing the story up until chapter 6 three times i've finally grown tired of arthur and finished the story last week. Doing some trophy hunting and challenges now. First time i went to new austin i was doing the bountiful trophy (survive three days with minimum 250$ bounty in every state). Fricking kino getting chased down into the desert by the bounty hunters using abandoned shacks to hole down and take them out. I always keep maximum bounty in new austin for that pure old west feeling. RDR1 has more style for sure, but RDR2 is still simply the most impressive game ever made. I fricking love reading about all these redditors afraid of bounty and low honor because muh good guy arthur, it's really not a hard game, it's pure visual kino and fighting off police and bounty hunters are the high points of the game.
is it possible to frick up hunting a legendary animal? do i need to use the right weapon like regular animals or can i just blast it with the strongest rifle i have
the physics and the amount of areas out of the bounds of the normal map were insane. but i did not care for the core gameplay or the story; even on replaying. it feels like a boring slog with immersion breaking and a sluggy story with shoehorned liberalism. i enjoyed getting drunk af and just roaming around out of the map and landing my horse in guarma and riding around it.
The roleplay aspects and inventory/combat system were good, but very under utilized due to the economy and lack of necessity to need those things. also couldn't take more than one hit of a cigarette/cigar in the single player which was moronic and lazy on their part.
the lack of things to buy in single player like houses or custom wagons or even having to use mods to be able to have a posse/bodyguards is shitty.
idk know why they dont include online content in single player, it might entice people to enjoy the multiplayer more if it didn't feel like they were being ripped off.
You first OP
Isn't RDR1 better?
no
Want to elaborate?
rdr1 is great but you cannot compete with the game nearly as good as mgs3
Doesn't surprise me a mindless mongolid who worships cuckjima does the same for wienerstar
oh you should know i LOVE nintendo
im the Ganker antichud
RDR1 is far better. I'm playing it at 4K on series X and its much more fun than RDR2 was on my gaming PC.
Physics alone in shooting and combat are much better in the first game, not to mention horse riding isn't a slow pain in the ass
Its like comparing dying light vs dying light 2. Masterpiece vs soulless with downgraded physics
fair comparison but rdr2 has a way longer story and way more things to discover and explore.
Generally yes but I guess it also depends on what you want. If you just want slow paced mountain man role-playing rdr2 is your jam.

This
tried it twice, seemed very pretentious and boring
You force your friends to play it and experience it again through them
RDR2 wasn't good.
This. Overrated movie game for non gamers. Boring shit.

man the online could have been amazing
That would be Baldur's Gate 2 for me, anon
I guess Obra Dinn is an honorable mention too.
has any game ever come close to bg2's story telling, characters and freedom for quests
heroes of might and magic 3
I loved every single second I spent in my 138 hours, 100% playthrough
I also dread ever having to replay it
Same. I'll replay it in ten years
>I also dread ever having to replay it

>tfw replaying it right now
feels good man
rdr2 pissed me the frick off from installation to the end of the game

Nope, you can shooting with an explosive shotgun in the legs and it doesn't affect the pelt.
so i completed the four gunslinger picture thing, where do i turn it in
cause that biographer isnt in the bar at valentine
Iirc it's in saint denis

For me, it was Return of the Obra Dinn
RDR1 + 2
Zelda OoT
Legacy of the Wizard NES
>Sell 50 million copies
>Can't be fricked to unlock the frame rate on series x and PS5 when even Ubisoft has done it for their backlog
Frick rockstar
How the frick does dominoes work? Trying to do these gambling challenges but i've never played dominoes in my life i have no idea what i'm doing
Pic rel
good movie/story game, terrible gameplay that relies on extreme auto aim
Literally just purged that godawful shit from my hard drive.
