The one reason thing I could see is that its combat is a bit too simple since we had a decent amount of CRPG releases in the last decade or so, but at the time of its release and the absolute draught in said genre, it was OK. Especially since I'd assume most people hoped that it's going to be the BG1 equivalent and DA2 would be more akin to BG2... well, funny what happened there.
I mean it's just Dragon Age: Andromeda, that's all that studio knows how to do now. There's no-one there who has ever made a decent videogame, all those people left a long time ago.
