Yeah, playing max difficulty settings with the weapon jamming and taint settings on rn. Mixed feelings, doesn't feel too different from normal. Never ran out of a resource, despite setting the drops to scarce.
I noticed that it seems the extended hearing and max aggressiveness options don't seem to click with the enemies on later levels than it does on earlier ones. Like, they'd hunt me down more in the earlier levels, while the later ones just stood at their posts and let me dance around em. Weird.
Seriously, level 2 ( billion rifle dudes on rooftops, you start at the door and all of em have an angle on you) on Zealot was such a pain in the ass since the pathfinding there actually worked and they'd hunt you down. Didn't realize there was a sniper rifle around that early till i cleared the level.

Seems like it was done purposely with the durability function in mind, since the chaingun loses durability pretty fast when you shoot it a lot with it's fire rate. Like a "go to town; it'll bite you in the ass later" thing.

for direct comparison, Superjail! is way more edgy than Deadman Wonderland. Death Note is also arguably far more edgy than dethklok for the opposite reason. and not a soul would say a war movie like saving private ryan is anywhere near as edgy as a single scene of battle royale.

Someone posted a download link and I tried it out. Pretty fun, was expecting it to be harder though. I’ve never played “boomer shooters” before and I got the hang of this pretty quickly.

Considering that the enemies sometimes dropped their AI and just stood in place as I walked past them, I can only assume there's some janky coding frickery happening.
Though I will admit that I did enjoy seeing some of the lore they dropped into the enemies, like the suicide girls being blindfolded, and actually not hostile until you make noise.
Or maybe that was their AI path breaking. Either way, it seemed interesting.

It's actually even easier if you utilize all the weapons, all the tanky enemies die super fast to shit like the autogun's lazer alt fire or satchel charges bosses are honestly the only hard things to fight

I finally did! Bought it in the recent sale and played it twice. Once you realize how fast you can go the game really takes off, don't play it like Doom or you will get bored. I enjoyed the jap gun weeb autism and the aesthetic. It was a little too samey with the backgrounds never changing colors but the level designs and encounters kept things fun. I didn't find the gore too unsettling but I've seen the same 80's anime that probably inspired the creator so I was desensitized long ago. Looking forward to the next one jap artist guy!
For me the violence is so over the top and sudden it just feels cartoony and I don't care. Meanwhile I've felt squeamish about "lesser" violence like being crushed hard enough for your bones to break without killing you, because there was a lot of detail about how slow and painful and horrible it is.
Citadel's best thing it did for me was to introduce me to Hedon in a different Ganker thread.
If you like Citadel, that's fine, too. But I have traded my anime teen girls in future armor for anime muscle orcs in fantasy armor.
Hedon didn't really do it for me it's just Doom with a futa demon girl and some meme easter eggs it doesn't really have it's own identity beyond that

Hedon is one of the best games made in recent years. Fricking amazing level design that blows all triple A games out the water, and is has frickloads of passion put into it for being made by one guy.
It's one of the few games that feel like proper "video games", and how good they used to make them back in the day. My second favourite of 2021.
I liked Hedon. Bought it both on Steam and GOG, just as I do with games a trully enjoy.
My memory's been fricked by the pandemic, so I can't remember jack shit about 2021, but I'd say it's one of the better games of that year. Maybe I'll give it a go after I'm done with Citadel since I got no other games I want to play atm.
Yeah it's fricking great. Weapons all feel good, movement is fast and mobile, and that combined with the level design creates a nice spot between tacticool and run-n-gun gameplay.
I also like the little miscellaneous things like being able to huff air, food, slide kicking, and so on. It's just all really fricking good, and the atmosphere isn't bad either.

The game makes it a point to show they are girls after you blow them to bits. You can kick around or sort of play with the blown up parts. If it had dudes too I wouldn't say its gore porn but how this is presented it is for sure gore porn. Games like mortal kambat and dishonored has just as many dudes as girls and isnt presented as you killing just girls in such a fashion.

Considering that the enemies sometimes dropped their AI and just stood in place as I walked past them, I can only assume there's some janky coding frickery happening.
Though I will admit that I did enjoy seeing some of the lore they dropped into the enemies, like the suicide girls being blindfolded, and actually not hostile until you make noise.
Or maybe that was their AI path breaking. Either way, it seemed interesting.

I finally did! Bought it in the recent sale and played it twice. Once you realize how fast you can go the game really takes off, don't play it like Doom or you will get bored. I enjoyed the jap gun weeb autism and the aesthetic. It was a little too samey with the backgrounds never changing colors but the level designs and encounters kept things fun. I didn't find the gore too unsettling but I've seen the same 80's anime that probably inspired the creator so I was desensitized long ago. Looking forward to the next one jap artist guy!
For me the violence is so over the top and sudden it just feels cartoony and I don't care. Meanwhile I've felt squeamish about "lesser" violence like being crushed hard enough for your bones to break without killing you, because there was a lot of detail about how slow and painful and horrible it is.

Hedon is one of the best games made in recent years. Fricking amazing level design that blows all triple A games out the water, and is has frickloads of passion put into it for being made by one guy.
It's one of the few games that feel like proper "video games", and how good they used to make them back in the day. My second favourite of 2021.
I liked Hedon. Bought it both on Steam and GOG, just as I do with games a trully enjoy.
My memory's been fricked by the pandemic, so I can't remember jack shit about 2021, but I'd say it's one of the better games of that year. Maybe I'll give it a go after I'm done with Citadel since I got no other games I want to play atm.

Yeah it's fricking great. Weapons all feel good, movement is fast and mobile, and that combined with the level design creates a nice spot between tacticool and run-n-gun gameplay.
I also like the little miscellaneous things like being able to huff air, food, slide kicking, and so on. It's just all really fricking good, and the atmosphere isn't bad either.
